JOSEPH J. CIOL, AGE 75, SAYREVILLE
Joseph J. Ciol died Sunday at Memorial Medical Center at South Amboy. He was 75.
He was born in South Amboy and lived in the Parlin section of Sayreville for many years.
He retired in 1993 after working for six years as a toll collector on the Garden State Parkway.
He previously was president and chief executive officer of Moser Jewel Co., Perth Amboy, where he worked for 45 years before retiring in 1987.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the USS Savannah Association, the Sayreville Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 4699, Sayreville American Legion Post 211 and Disabled American Veterans Post 67 in South Amboy.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, South Amboy.
Two brothers, John and Eugene, and three sisters, Mary Certo, Sophie Lyons and Pauline Ziobro, died previously.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Susan Evanko, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart R.C. Church. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sayreville VFW Post 4699, Jernee Mill Road, Sayreville, NJ 08872.

ANNA A. HOFFMANN, 92, of SHIP BOTTOM
ANNA A. HOFFMANN, 92, of SHIP BOTTOM, died March 24 at Southern Ocean Genesis Eldercare Center in the Manahawkin section of Stafford Township. She was a photo processor for many years with DuPont, Parlin, Sayreville, retiring in 1971. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, both of Perth Amboy. Born in Perth Amboy, she lived there until 1978, when she moved to Ship Bottom. She was a summer and weekend resident here from 1966 to 1978.
Her husband, George, died in 1939. Surviving are a brother, George Sheppard, Perth Amboy; a sister, Helen Thorsen, Manahawkin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Perth Amboy. Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, Ship Bottom, is in charge of arrangements.

JONATHAN BRZOSTOWSKI, AGE 25, AVENEL
Jonathan K. Brzostowski, 25, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold.
Born in Summit, he was a lifelong resident of the Avenel section of Woodbridge. Mr. Brzostowski was employed as a service technician with Monmouth Internet in Red Bank for the past two years. He was a 1996 graduate of Woodbridge High School, and graduated first in his class in 1997 from the Monmouth County Law Enforcement Explorer Academy in Holmdel; attended Middlesex County College; and was active in computer technology, having earned several certifications in the technical services area.
Surviving are his father and mother, Art Brzostowski and Pat Vasilick Brzostowski of Avenel, and a sister, Beth Marie Brzostowski, also of Avenel.
Funeral services were private under the direction of Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel St., Avenel.

CAROL LEE KRUPNICK, 57, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of RUMSON
CAROL LEE KRUPNICK, 57, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of RUMSON, died Oct. 10, 2004 at home. She was president of Atlantic Pest Doctors, Brick. She was past member of the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary of Brick. Born in Bayonne, she lived in Rumson before moving to Sarasota six years ago.
Her husband, Edward, died in 1986. Surviving are a son, Jeffrey, and a daughter, Cheryl Bobal, both of Sarasota; her parents, John T. and Helen Lough of Howell; and two brothers, Jack Lough of Virginia, and Gary Lough of Bay Head.
Services will be private. Donations may be made to the Hospice Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238. National Cremation Society, Sarasota, was in charge of arrangements.

MARY J. MC ERLANE, 88, of Cairo, N.Y., formerly of MONMOUTH BEACH
MARY J. MC ERLANE, 88, of Cairo, N.Y., formerly of MONMOUTH BEACH, died Monday at Community Hospice of Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson, N.Y. She was a corporate secretary for the World Book Encyclopedia in New York. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Cairo. Born in the Bronx, she lived in Monmouth Beach before moving to Cairo.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gaspare and Angela Sparanga Janella. Surviving are her nieces, Anne-Patricia M. Byrne and her husband, William of Cairo, Gloria Mendoza and Dawn Cavello of California; and Loise Rocco of Yonkers, N.Y.; and a nephew, Joseph T. Vedella of Colts Neck.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Richards Funeral Home, 383 Bross St., Cairo, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church, Cairo, the Rev. J. Nunan officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, the Bronx.

LOUIS G. TEGZES, 72, of OCEAN GROVE
LOUIS G. TEGZES, 72, of OCEAN GROVE, died Friday at home. He was a truck driver for Hill Refrigeration, Trenton, for more than 15 years before retiring. He was an avid ocean fisherman and enjoyed fishing with his friends on the Mohawk III out of Belmar Marina. Born in Trenton, he lived there before moving to Ocean Grove two years ago.
His wife, Sarah Lee Tegzes, died in 1989. Surviving are a son, Phillip of Belmar; a daughter, Laurie Engle of Mansfield; three brothers, Walter Ostrowski Jr. of Trenton, Raymond Ostrowski of Chesterfield, and David Ostrowski of Trenton; three sisters, Anne South of Chesterfield, Patricia Henderson of Trenton, and Lorraine Hanushik of Trenton; a grandson, Travis Engle of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral has not been scheduled yet. The Ocean Grove Memorial Home, Ocean Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

JOSEPH J. GLYNN, 89, of Port Monmouth, MIDDLETOWN
JOSEPH J. GLYNN, 89, of Port Monmouth, MIDDLETOWN, died Monday at Avanti Nursing Home, Red Bank. He was a bank manager at Chemical Bank, New York. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was acommunicant of St. Catherine's Ro-man Catholic Church, Middletown. He wasa former member and exalted ruler of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Scarsdale, N.Y., and a mem-ber and former exalted ruler of the Elks 2179, Port Monmouth. Born in New York, he lived in Port Monmouth for the past 30 years.
His wife, Irene Blake Glynn, died in 1997. Surviving are three sisters, Monica Glynn, Lorretta Costello, and Frances Donnelly; a nephew and his wife, Richard and Dolores Kernan of Port Monmouth; a niece, Diane Cecchini of Leonardo, Middle-town; and many other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Services will be held at8:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine's Church, Middletown. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

MARIE SACKMAN GELPKE, 85, of Port Monmouth, MIDDLETOWN
MARIE SACKMAN GELPKE, 85, of Port Monmouth, MIDDLETOWN, died Monday at home. She was a homemaker. Born in Newark, she lived in Keansburg and in Manahawkin, Stafford, before moving to Port Monmouth 10 years ago.
Her husband, Raymond, died in 1989, and she was also predeceased by a daughter, Geraldine Hamilton. Surviving are two sons, Raymond Gelpke Jr. of Keyport, and Harry Gelpke of Georgia; four daughters, Jacqueline Semkewyc of Port Monmouth, Lillian Fordham of Florida, Marylin Bartlett of Keansburg, and Marie Barnes of Sayreville; a brother, Roy Sackman of Michigan; two sisters, Doris Kennedy of Lakewood, and Eleanor Villani of Manahawkin; a sister-in-law, Lillian Goodwin of North Arlington; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and an extended family of step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A funeral service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Friday at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, Keansburg. Interment will be in Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

JUANITA J. FURENTE, 72, of Bayville, BERKELEY
JUANITA J. FURENTE, 72, of Bayville, BERKELEY, died Monday at home. She was a nursing supervisor at Community Medical Center, Toms River for 25 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Bayville First Aid Squad. She was active in Deborah Heart and Lung Center's Berkeley-Lacey Chapter and in the local Girl Scout program. She was an avid camper. She was a member of the Morningstar Presbyterian Church of Bayville. Born in Norfolk, Va., she lived in China briefly and in Virginia before moving to Bayville 52 years ago.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Aquiline D. "Nick" Furente; a son, Daniel Mark Furente of Deer Park, N.Y.; three daughters, Cecelia M. Esposito of York, Maine, Joy Stewart and Irene Davis, both of Bayville; three sisters, Audrey Lynch of Forked River, Lacey, Marcia Applegate of South Toms River, and Carol Rolfes of Rydal, Ga.; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday by the Morningstar Presbyterian Church at the Berkeley Township Recreation Center, Route 9, Bayville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Morning Star Presbyterian, P.O. Box G, 6 Station Road, Bayville, NJ 08721 or Community Medical Center, Van Dyke Hospice Program, 99 Route 37 W., Toms River, NJ 08755. O'Connell's Home for Funerals, Bayville, is in charge of arrangements.

EDNA HABERMANN BOOTH BYRNE, 80, of BRICK
EDNA HABERMANN BOOTH BYRNE, 80, of BRICK, died Monday at Laurelton Village Nursing Home, Brick. Her son, Charles Castino, died in 1995. Colonial Funeral Home, Brick, is in charge of arrangements.

SALVATORE LUPINACCI, of BERKELEY
SALVATORE LUPINACCI, of BERKELEY, died Monday at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He was a machinist at Westinghouse in Belleville for 41 years, retiring in 1975. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Toms River. He was a member of the New Jersey Men's Glee Club. Born in Italy, he lived in Belleville and in Nutley before moving to Berkeley.
Surviving are his wife, Concetta Paino Lupinacci; a daughter, Marion Azzolino of Washington Township, Bergen County; three brothers, Dominick of Hasbrouck Heights, George of San Diego, and Anthony of Clifton; three sisters, Helen Longabardi of Belleville, Betty Camarratta of Passaic, and Rose Bovino of Nutley; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood. Friends and relatives will leave the funeral home at 9 a.m. Thursday for a 10 a.m. funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church, Washington Township. Entombment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.

PAUL G. TAPOVCI, 72, of POINT PLEASANT
PAUL G. TAPOVCI, 72, of POINT PLEASANT, died yesterday at Brick Hospital. He was a sheet metal finisher at Republic Metal, Springfield. He was a former groundskeeper at the Arthur L. Johnson Regional High School in Clark. He was a communicant of St. Martha's Roman Catholic Church, Point Pleasant. He was a member of the Slovak-American Club, Linden. Born in Springdale, Pa., he lived in Clark before moving to Point Pleasant five years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Tapovci; three daughters, Regina Zaremba, and Martha Casey, both of Point Pleasant, and Roseann Melillo of Clark; a sister, Margaret Vircik of Linden; and seven grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, 901 Beaver Dam Road, Point Pleasant. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Martha's Church, Point Pleasant.Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.

CATHERINE A. FOWLER, 74, of RED BANK
CATHERINE A. FOWLER, 74, of RED BANK, died Sunday at Jersey Shore Rehabilitation Center, Eatontown. She was a retired administrative secretary at the Fort Monmouth preparatory school. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Born in Little Silver, she lived in Shrewsbury before moving to Red Bank.
Her husband, William H., died in 1989, and she was also predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Nora Corcoran. Surviving are a son, William M. of Red Bank; a daughter, Lisa MacPhee of Houston; two brothers, John P. Corcoran of Freehold, and James J. Corcoran of Middletown; a sister, Marion Dignan of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at St. James Church, Red Bank. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to Red Bank First Aid or to the charity of one's choice.

JOHN T. LEWIS, 48, of Las Vegas, formerly of MATAWAN
JOHN T. LEWIS, 48, of Las Vegas, formerly of MATAWAN, died Oct. 30 in Loma Linda Veterans Hospital, Loma Linda, Calif. He was a Vietnam veteran. Born in Long Branch, he lived in Matawan most of his life before moving to Los Vegas.
Surviving are his mother, Jane Lewis of Matawan; two brothers, Richard of Las Vegas, and James of Manahawkin, Stafford; and a sister, Kathy Fitzgerald of Aberdeen.
A memorial service will be held noon today in Bolder City Veterans Cemetery, Las Vegas. Dickey Mortuary, Las Vegas, is in charge of arrangements.
