Norma Pellegrino, 66
Norma Pellegrino, 66, of Toms River died on Thursday, December 16, 1999 at the Kensington Care Center.
Born in Westfield, she had been a resident of South Plainfield before moving to Toms River 10 years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Pellegrino, in 1991. Surviving are a son, Stanley Miszczenski of South Plainfield; a daughter, Paula Kirby of Brick Township; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Private funeral arrangements were handled by the James W. Conroy Funeral Home in South Plainfield.
Isaac Daniels, 88
Retired Executive; Former Temple Emanu-El President
Isaac Daniels, 88, of Westfield died on Sunday, December 19, 1999 at his winter home in Jupiter, Fla.
Born in New York City, he had lived in Carteret before moving to Westfield 47 years ago.
Mr. Daniels had worked for the I. Daniels Construction Company of Carteret, established by his father in 1910, for 60 years before retiring as President in 1997.
He was a member of the Men’s Club of Temple Emanu-El in Westfield and served as President of the temple from 1961 to 1963.
He served as a Trustee of Labor Local Union No. 72 of Perth Amboy.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Vivienne Salter Daniels; two sons, Robert Daniels of Ipswich, Mass. and Roger Daniels of West Orange; a sister, Anna Salzberg of Garden City, Long Island and six grandchildren.
Services were held on Monday, December 20, at Temple Emanu-El.
Arrangements were handled by the Menorah Chapels at Millburn in Union.
Thelma Louise Bullock, 86
Had Owned Westfield Taxi Service for Many Years
Thelma Louise Bullock, 86, of Westfield died on Friday, December 17, 1999 in Rahway Hospital in Rahway.
Born in Person County, N. C. on November 8, 1913, she moved to Westfield in the early 1930s.
Mrs. Bullock had owned the Westfield Taxi Service, formerly known as the Bullock Taxi Service, which she founded many years ago with her late husband, James Bullock.
She retired in 1975.
Surviving are a daughter, Myrna Wayne of Westfield; two sisters, Madeline Caldwell of Washington, D. C. and Mamie Brown of North Carolina; a brother, Lewis Barnett of North Carolina; two granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 21, at the Plinton Curry Funeral Home in Westfield.
Interment will take place today, Thursday, December 23, at the North Carolina Biblical Gardens in Raleigh, N.C.
Judith Czerny, 65
Bucknell Graduate; Was Fifth Grade Teacher for 18 Years
Judith Czerny, 65, of Batavia, Ill., formerly of Westfield, died on Wednesday, December 15, 1999 at Manor Care of Naperville in Naperville, Ill.
Born on December 8, 1934 in Westfield, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Matilda Duncan.
Mrs. Czerny had taught fifth grade for 18 years at J.B. Nelson School in Batavia until her retirement in 1993.
She was a graduate of Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa.
She was a member of the Batavia Congregational Church.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert T. Czerny, whom she married on July 27, 1957 in Westfield.
Surviving are two sons, William Czerny and Matthew Czerny, and two sisters, Janet Tatro and Carol Brouillard.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 18, at the Batavia Congregational Church.
Interment was private.

Elizabeth Wiendl, 78
Local Volunteer; Scout Leader and Golf Club Member
Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Carver Wiendl, 78, of Westfield died on Friday, December 17, 1999 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Butte, Mont., she moved to Westfield 51 years ago.
Mrs. Wiendl was a member of the Westfield Women’s Golf Club, a Westfield Girl Scout leader and a volunteer at the Discovery Shop and with the American Cancer Society in Westfield.
She graduated from Butte Business College in Butte in 1942.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph A. Wiendl; two sons, Tom Halpin and Joe Wiendl; three daughters, Janie Whiteford, Judy Hood and Jackie Smith; a brother, Jack Carver, and 14 grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was offered on Monday, December 20, at St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.
Zara Kyrioglou, 93
Church Parishioner Had Been Named Mother of the Year
Zara Kyrioglou, 93, of New Providence died on Monday, December 13, 1999 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Greece, she came to the United States in 1929.
She had lived in Elizabeth and Westfield for many years before relocating to Scotch Plains.
She moved to the Glenside Nursing Center in New Providence in 1996.
Mrs. Kyrioglou was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Westfield, where she was named the second Mother of the Year and was also a member of the Trinity Circle Senior Group.
She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Kyrioglou, in 1962 and by a daughter, Helen Dimitry, in 1995.
Surviving are a son, William Kyrioglou of Warren; two daughters, Mary Demetriou of Chatham and Joy Daniledes of Scotch Plains; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A funeral service was held on Friday, December 17, at the Holy Trinity Church.
Arrangements were handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.
Donations may be made to the Trinity Circle Senior Group of the church.
Robert E. Brunner, 77
Was Optician; Flight Navigator in World War II
Robert E. Brunner, 77, of Westfield died on Thursday, December 16, 1999 in Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Plainfield on December 9, 1922, he was raised in Westfield and graduated from Westfield High School in 1940.
He and his wife relocated to Williamsburg, Va. in 1985 and returned to Westfield in May of this year.
Mr. Brunner had owned and operated Robert E. Brunner Prescription Opticians in Westfield for many years before retiring in 1985.
He attended the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y. and the Bowman Technical School in Lancaster, Pa. and graduated in 1950 from the Brooklyn School of Optics.
During World War II, Mr. Brunner served as a flight navigator with the 351st Bomb Group of the Eighth Division of the United States Army Air Force.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Loesch Brunner; three daughters, Susan Pratt, Katherine Berg and Nancy Coyne; a sister, Patricia Thiede, and four grandchildren.
A private family memorial service was held on Sunday, December 19.
Per Mr. Brunner’s wishes, his remains were bequeathed to the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Anatomical Association in Piscataway.
