Gabriel J. Suarez, 69, of Fanwood died on Monday, March 8, 1999 at home.
Born in Bayonne, he had moved to Fanwood in 1955.
Mr. Suarez was a tugboat operator in Red Hook Harbor, Brooklyn, for 25 years before retiring in 1985.
He was a member of Eagles Post No. 866 in Plainfield.
He had served in the Army. Surviving are his mother, Maria Longeira Suarez; three brothers, Joseph Suarez, Anthony Suarez and Benito Suarez; and a sister, Gloria Agulira.
Private arrangements were handled by Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.

Charles Luciano, 61
Charles J. Luciano, 61, of Mountainside died on Wednesday, March 3, 1999 in Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
Born in Newark, he had lived in Hackensack before moving to Mountainside in 1990.
Mr. Luciano was a co-owner of J&B; Paving in Hackensack for eight years.
He served in the United States Air Force during peacetime.
Surviving are his wife, JoAnn Luciano; two daughters, Larissa Luciano and Brielle Luciano, and a sister, Joan Napurano.
A Mass was offered on Monday, March 8, in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Mountainside.
Arrangements were handled by Smith and Smith Suburban in Springfield.
June M. Kuczera, 56
June M. Kuczera, 56, of Mountainside died on Tuesday, March 2, 1999 in Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge.
Born in East Brunswick, she had lived in Hillside before moving to Mountainside 25 years ago.
Surviving are her husband, Albert Kuczera; a daughter, Lynn Roth; two sons, Roy Kuczera and Don Kuczera; her mother, Mildred Zeller; a sister, Joyce Kirsch, and a grandchild.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 6, in the McCracken Funeral Home in Union.
Rebecca Garhart, 44
Painting Contractor; Was Co-Owner of Garhart Painting
Rebecca Y. Garhart, 44, of Phillipsburg died on Saturday, March 6, at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg.
Born in Scotch Plains, she had lived in Phillipsburg for nine years.
Mrs. Garhart was a painting contractor who, with her husband, owned and operated Garhart Painting.
Surviving are her husband of 20 years, David R. Garhart; her mother, Delores Loeffler of Scotch Plains; a brother, William Loeffler of Scotch Plains; and three sisters, Betty Ann Loeffler, Barbara Loeffler and Beverly Fiedler, all of Scotch Plains.
Funeral Services will be held today, March 11, at 7 p.m. at Phillipsburg Alliance Church.
Arrangements were handled by Rupell Funeral Home in Phillipsburg.
Eleanor Hahn, 81
Sunday School Teacher At Local Church; Girl Scout Leader
Eleanor M. Hahn, 81, of Westfield died on Tuesday, March 9, 1999 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Jewett City, Connecticut, she lived in Westfield since 1942.
Mrs. Hahn was a former Sunday School teacher at the First Congregational Church, a member of the Amity Club and the Wilson Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association, a Treasurer for Mobil Meals and a Girl Scout leader, all in Westfield.
She graduated from the Katherine Gibbs School in New York City in 1936.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Paul R.T. Hahn; two daughters, Eleanor Lowery and Elsa Gail Hahn; a son, Paul T. Hahn; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Friday, March 12, in the First Congregational Church.
Arrangements are being handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.
Lena Lembo, 92
Lena Lembo, 92, of Westfield died on Saturday, March 6, 1999 at home.
Born in Alberona, Italy, she had lived in Elizabeth before moving to Westfield in 1981.
Surviving are two sons, Menotti Lembo and Peter Lembo, and a grandchild.
A Mass was offered on Tuesday, March 9, in St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Westfield, following the funeral from the Mastapeter Suburban in Roselle Park.
John A. Dyer, 95
Was Nursery Owner; Served on Mountainside Planning Board
John A. Dyer, 95, of Westfield died on Tuesday, March 9, 1999 in Manor Care Health Services in Mountainside.
Born in Newark, he had lived in Mountainside for 40 years before moving to Westfield 40 years ago.
Mr. Dyer had been co-owner of Momm Nursery in Union for 35 years before retiring 30 years ago.
He served on the Mountainside Planning Board for 20 years and was instrumental in the building of the Community Presbyterian Church in Mountainside.
Surviving is his wife, June L. Dyer.
Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, March 12, in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by Smith and Smith of Springfield.
Michael Amirr, Jr., 45
Michael Joseph Amirr, Jr., 45, of Union died on Wednesday, March 3, 1999 at Union Memorial Hospital.
Born in Newark, he had lived in Scotch Plains before moving to Union 12 years ago.
Mr. Amirr was an automobile electrical technician and the owner of Sun Sounds in Union for the past 25 years.
Surviving are his wife, Laura Ann Banul Amirr; a son, Kenneth Kalial Amirr of Union; a sister, Angela Amirr of Bunnell, Florida, and a brother, Joseph Amirr of Cedar Grove.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 6, at the James W. Conroy Funeral Home in South Plainfield.
