Kathryn Menditto Esposito
Kathryn Menditto Esposito, 39, of Hazlet, died Jan. 2, 1990 at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, New York.
She was a schoolteacher in the Hoboken school system for the past 10 years.
She was a member of the New Jersey Education Association.
Esposito was born in Jersey City and lived in Hoboken before moving to Hazlet 10 years ago.
Surviving are her husband, John; a daughter, Marisa, at home; her mother, Marie Menditto, Hoboken, and two brothers,
Leonard and Michael Menditto, both Middletown Township.
Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken, was in charge of arrangements.

Gertrude M. King Hoffman
Gertrude Marion King Hoffman. 86, of Holmdel, died Jan. 1, 1990 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel.
Hoffman was a secretary for the State of New York Division of Unemployment for 15 years before retiring in 1968, and was former secretary of Post 1408 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Bronx.
She was born in New York and lived in the Bronx and Hazlet Township for 14 years before moving to Holmdel last year.
Her husband, John J., died in 1957.
Surviving are two sons, Walter, Holmdel; and John, the Bronx; a sister, Florence Mortello, Freeport, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals, Keansburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Catherine V. Mahoney
Services were held Jan. 8, 1990 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, for Catherine V. Gorman Mahoney, 80, of Keyport, who died Jan. 6 at Red Bank Convalescent Center.
Mahoney was a receptionist at Sterling Drug Co., New York, for five years.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church.
Born in Brooklyn, she lived there before moving to Keyport many years ago.
Her husband, James, died in 1951. She also was predeceased by two daughters, Geraldine Mullins and June Hirn.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Temple. Keyport, six grandchidlren and two great-grandchildren.
Interment was at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport.
Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements.

Catherine Long
Catherine Long, 83, of West Keansburg, Hazlet Township, died Dec. 24, 1989 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.
She was a clerical worker for 35 years for Westinghouse, Bloomfield, before retiring 20 years ago.
She was a communicant of St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church; a Columbiette of the Knights of Columbus Council 2858, both Keansburg; a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, and Keansburg Senior Citizens.
Long was born in Morristown and lived in Maplewood Township before moving to West Keansburg 41 years ago.
Her husband, Albert, died in 1971.
Surviving are two brothers, Henry McCormack, Cedar Knolls, Hanover Township, and Francis McCormack, Union Township, and several nieces and nephews.
Laurel Funeral Home, Hazlet was in charge of arrangements.

Marguerite Beshada
Marguerite Beshada, 18, a senior at Raritan High School, Hazlet, died Jan. 13, 1990 approximately 10:55 p.m. after a red Pontiac Fiero she was driving hit a tree.
A funeral mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach, Beshada, heading north on Red Hill Road. Middletown, was believed by police to have been traveling 60 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone. She apparently crossed over into the southbound lane, about 700 feet north of Church Lane, and crashed into a tree. No one else was involved in the accident.
Anyone who witnessed a red Pontiac Fiero on Red Hill Road around the time of the collision is urged to contact the traffic division of Middletown at 615-2045 between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. After 5 p.m., the phone number is 615-2077.
Beshada was a member of the girls'junior varsity softball team. She worked for Zaro's American Home Bakery, Holmdel.
"She was a very bright young lady aspiring to enter college," said Ralph Guadagno, principal of Raritan High School. "Whenever I saw her in the hallways, she was always smiling."
A psychologist, social workers, guidance counselors, and a person specializing in crises have been set up in the high school library for students' free access to help cope with their grief.
"They (professionals) will be there until the day of the funeral," said Guadagno.
"Many students have been leaving class to in the library. Some do not want to talk about their grief, and just want to sit. Other students are comforting one another. We also have two students who have experienced the loss of their parents to counsel the students."
Born in Belleville, Beshada lived in Keansburg before moving to Hazlet with her family 11 years ago.
Surviving are her parents, Richard and the former Huong Nguyen; a brother, Richard Jr., at home; a sister, Linh Dyer, Keansburg; her paternal grandparents, Michael and Marguerite Beshada, Hazlet, and many aunts and uncles.
Interment will be at Fair View Cemetery, Middlelown.
Laurel Funeral Home, Hazlet, was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Burkhard
Services were held Jan. 17, 1990 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Jersey City, for Margaret Burkhard, 80, of Jersey City, formerly of Lincroft, Middletown Township, who died Jan. 14, 1990 at home.
She was a cafeteria manager for the Jersey Board of Education for 24 years before retiring in 1971.
Burkhard was born in Jersey City and lived in Lincroft for 10 years before returning to Jersey City four months ago.
Her husband, Frederick, died in 1944; a and a daughter, Dolores, also predeceased her.
Surviving are two sons, Raymond, Jersey City, and Robert, and 10 grandchildren.
Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
Greenville Memorial Home, Jersey City, was in charge of arrangements.

Bertha I. Brunt
Bertha I. Brunt, 83, of North Middletown, Middletown Township, died Jan. 10, 1990 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel.
She worked for Merck & Co. Inc., Rahway, before retiring.
She was a member of Bayshore Community Church, North Middletown.
Brunt was born in Jersey City and lived in North Middletown for about 40 years.
Her husband, William, died in 1979.
Surviving are a son, Middletown police officer William, North Middletown; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
H.L. Scott Funeral Home, Belford, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.

Yorke Markham Ross
Services were held Jan. 18, 1990 at Harmon Home for Funerals, Staten Island, for Yorke Markham Ross, 64, of Hazlet, who died Jan. 14 at Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn.
Ross worked for Drexel Burnham Lambert, New York, before retiring in 1988.
Prior to that, he owned and operated the New Yorke Coffee Shoppe. Fair Haven, for several years, and was a vice president of Dominic & Dominic, a brokerage house in New York. He was in the brokerage business for a total of 40 years.
He was a former member of Holy Communion Episcopal Church, Fair Haven, and a former member of Fair Haven Volunteer Fire Company; attended Pace Institute, later Pace University, New York, and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Born in Staten Island, he lived in North Plainfield. Fair Haven, and Ocean Grove prior to moving to Hazlet six months ago.
Surviving are four daughters, Pamela, Brooklyn; Sandra Lane, and Deirdre, both Hazlet. and Susan, Fair Haven; five brothers, Donald. Bruce, Stuart. Kenneth, all Atlanta, and Cecil, West Allenhurst, Ocean Township; four sisters, Joan Spratt, Valerie Cronin, and Gwendolyn, all Atlanta, and Jeanne Atkinson, Macon, Ga.
Interment was at Moravian Cemetery.
Harmon Home for Funerals was in charge of arrangements.

Rose Tamburro Fleno
Rose Tamburro Fleno, 64, of Matawan, died Jan. 11, 1990 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
She was an order clerk for Apollo Distributors, Fairfield, for 35 years before retiring four years ago. She was a former member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church.
Union Township, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters and Altar Rosary Society, and a communicant of St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church, Matawan.
Fleno was born in Newark and lived in Union and Toms River before moving to Matawan four months ago.
Her husband, John, died in 1970.
Surviving are a son, John A., Atkinson, N.H.; a daughter, Paula Festa, with whom she lived; her mother, Frances Tamburro, Matawan; a brother, Anthony Tamburro, Union, and four grandchildren.
Waitt Funeral Home, Morganville, Marlboro Township, was in charge of arrangements.
