Helen S. Terry, 81
Helen S. Terry, 81, of Lebanon
Township died on Thursday, January
6, 2000 at Hunterdon Medical Center in
Raritan Township.
Born on August 16, 1918 in
Plainfield, she was the daughter of
the late George and Nellie Roberts
Schermerhorn. She had lived in
Scotch Plains before moving to
Lebanon Township 30 years ago.
She had been employed as a bank
teller for Hunterdon County National
Bank in Flemington before retiring
several years ago.
Surviving are her husband, William Terry,
and a daughter, Marilyn
Terry of Lebanon Township.
A private funeral service was held
on Monday, January 10, in the
Couglin Funeral Home in Califon.
Interment was at Lower Valley Union
Cemetery in Califon.

Bernard Anderson, 81
Rotary Officer; Was Member of Scotchwood Lodge
Bernard H. Anderson, 81, of Calabash,
N.C. died on Wednesday, January 12, 2000 in
Calabash.
Born in Newark, he had lived in
Scotch Plains before relocating to
North Carolina nine years ago.
Mr. Anderson had been the owner
of the JD Trophy and Sport Shop in
Scotch Plains before retiring more
than 10 years ago.
He was a former parishioner of the
Willow Grove Presbyterian Church
in Scotch Plains.
He was a member of the Calabash
Presbyterian Church, the Carolina
Shores Golf Club and the Benevolent
and Protective Order of Elks, all in
Calabash.
Mr. Anderson was a former member of
the Fanwood-Scotch Plains Rotary Club,
serving as President from 1979 to 1980
and as Club Secretary from 1986 to 1987.
He served a term as District Secretary
for Rotary District No. 7510,
participated in Rotary Bowling and
was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow
in 1983.
He was also a member of the
Scotchwood Lodge No. 295 of Free
and Accepted Masons in Scotch
Plains.
He was predeceased by his wife,
Harriet L. Anderson, in 1998.
Surviving are his daughter, Judy
Caggiano of Montville; a son, Donald
B. Caggiano of Westampton; a
brother, Raymond Anderson of
Florida, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on
Monday, January 17, at the Memorial
Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood.
Interment followed at Hollywood Cemetery
in Union.

Woodrow Rossi, 82
Founding Member Of St. John Vianney Church in Colonia
Woodrow Paul Rossi, 82, of Colonia
died on Sunday, January 16, 2000 at home.
Born in the Dominican Republic,
West Indies, he had lived in Rahway
before moving to Colonia 41 years
ago.
Mr. Rossi had been a maintenance
mechanic for Rheem Manufacturing
in Linden for 25 years before retiring
in 1974.
He served with the United States
Merchant Marines during World War
II in the European Theater from 1942
to 1945.
Mr. Rossi was a founding member
of St. John Vianney Roman Catholic
Church in Colonia.
He was predeceased by a great-grandson,
Douglas Coleman, in 1992.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Rossi;
four sons, Reginald Rossi of Plantation,
Fla., Lawrence Rossi of Raleigh, N.C.,
William Chaplar of Pampa, Tex. and
Aaron K. Bateman of Colonia; four
daughters, Genevieve Williams of
Orlando, Fla., Carol Ann Harris of
Hackensack, Beverly J. Grant of
Westfield and Reney Rhem of Stone
Mountain, Ga.; a brother, Randall Rossi
of Los Angeles; a sister, Phyllis Lord
of Elmhurst, N.Y., 14 grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 9 a.m.
today, Thursday, January 20, at the
Jones Funeral Home in Rahway, followed
by a 9:30 a.m. Mass at St. John
Vianney Church. Burial will be in St.
Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia.

Dorothy Mihalak, 78
Dorothy Mihalak, 78, of Ponce
Inlet, Fla. died on Saturday, January
15, 2000 in the Memorial Hospital in Peninsula,
Fla.
Born in Brockton, Mass., she had
lived in Westfield before moving to
Florida in 1971.
Mrs. Mihalak had been employed
as a saleswoman with the A-1 Employment
Agency of New Jersey in Union County
before retiring.
She was a graduate of LaSalle Junior
College in Newton, Mass.
Surviving are her husband, Peter
Mihalak; two daughters, Taylor Payne
and Linda Martin; a sister, Barbara
LaPlace; a brother, Kenneth Simonds;
two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m.
today, Thursday, January 20, in the
Haeberle & Barth Colonial Home in
Union.
Antoinette Jennette
Antoinette L. Mattei Jennette of
Union died on Saturday, January 15,
2000 at home.
Born in Kearny, she had lived there
before moving to Union 44 years ago.
Mrs. Jennette had been employed
as an assembler with RCA in Harrison
for 20 years before retiring 23 years
ago.
She was a member of the Rosary
Society at St. Genevieve’s Roman
Catholic Church in Elizabeth.
She was predeceased by her husband,
Alphonse Jennette.
Surviving are two sons, Anthony
Jennette of Westfield and Emilio
Jennette of Freehold; five grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.
A gathering will take place beginning at
9 a.m. today, Thursday, January 20,
at the McCracken Funeral Home in Union,
followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at
St. Genevieve’s Roman Catholic Church
in Elizabeth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations
may be made to the Center for
Hope Hospice, 176 Hussa Street, Linden,
07036.
Anna R. Lombardo, 73
Anna Rose Romandetta Lombardo,
73, of Westfield died on Thursday,
January 13, 2000 at home.
Born in New York City, she moved
to Westfield in 1955.
She was a member of the Union
County Association of Retarded Citizens.
Surviving are her husband of 48
years, Vincent Lombardo, and a son,
Joseph Lombardo of South Plainfield.
Memorial donations may be made

A memorial service will be arranged
for a future date.
