Mildred Poempner
Mildred Poempner, 97, of Phillipsburg, formerly of Whippany, NJ, died Saturday, December 1, 2007 in the Phillipsburg Center.
Mildred and her first husband, the late Alex Kelton, owned and operated a candy store in Newark, NJ and the Roxy Sweet Shop in Irvington, NJ. She later worked as an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service for thirteen years until her retirement.
Born January 6, 1910 in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Abraham and Anna Reese Gottdank.
She enjoyed playing bingo and participating in activities with the Red Hat Society.
She was of the Jewish faith.
Survivors include her son, Sheldon Kelton and his wife, Carol of Lopatcong Township; a sister, Florence Turestky of Lakewood, NJ; two grandchildren, Allan Kelton and Lori Daniskas and two great-grandchildren, Miranda and Matthew Daniskas. Her second husband, Edward Poempner; a daughter, Diane Kelton; a brother, Lawrence and a sister, Ruth Marshia, all died earlier.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main Street, Phillipsburg, lead by Rabbi Jonathan H. Gerard, Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Covenant of Peace, Easton, Pa. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of services Friday in the funeral home.

Rose Polcari
Rose Polcari, 81, of Phillipsburg, died Sunday, June 7, 1992 in Warren Hospital.
She was a silk winder for the former Tirrell Silk Mill. She also worked in the domestic services department of Lafayette College for three years.
Born May 13, 1911 in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Grace Boscia Frinzi.
She was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.
Her husband, the late John Polcari died in October of 1975.
She is survived by four sons, Vincent, John and Robert, all of Phillipsburg and Anthony of Forks Twp; two daughters, Mary Josephine Corpora of Phillipsburg and Grace Maragulia of Easton; two brothers, John and Charles Frinzi, both of Phillipsburg; two sisters, Mary Zamataro and Dorothy Fuller, both of Phillipsburg; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Salvatore, Joseph and Anthony Frinzi and three sisters, Pearl Ritz, Josephine DeThomas and Jennie Frinzi.
Funeral services will be held 8:15 a.m. Wednesday from the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. in St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, 426 S Main St., Phillipsburg. Burial will be in the parish Cemetery, Greenwich Twp., NJ. Calling hours will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Deidre Elizabeth Prescott
Deidre Elizabeth Prescott, 36, of Easton, died Saturday, December 21, 2002 in Easton Hospital.
She worked in the dietary department of the Village at Sullivan Trail, Forks Township. She formerly worked the Phillipsburg Care Center and the Free Press, both in Phillipsburg.
Born December 20, 1966 in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Lois Clairisa Prescott.
Survivors include her companion, Wilson D. Kneebone; her godmother, Patricia Everett and her children, Rochelle Kreidler and David Kreidler; two children she helped raise, Michael and Missy Hartzell and three "adopted" grandchildren, Tammy, Crystal and Sabrina.
Memorial services will be held 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg, with the Rev. Allen Schaarschmidt of the Church of the Blessed Hope of the Nazarene, Phillipsburg officiating. Burial will be private in the Fairmount Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Frances Pretopapa
Frances Pretopapa, 80, of Easton, formerly of Phillipsburg, died Saturday, June 9, 2001 in PersonaCare at Eastwood in Wilson Borough.
She was a former laborer for Magnetic Windings in Palmer Twp.
Born May 12, 1920 in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John C. and Mary DelGrosso Parenti.
She was of the Catholic faith.
Her husband, the late Lawrence P. Pretopapa, Sr., died May 18, 1981.
She is survived by a son, Lawrence P. Pretopapa Jr., of Easton; a brother, Albert Parenti and a sister, Tristina Lance, both of Bethlehem. Three brothers, Charles, John and Florey and two sisters, Florence Longenour and Mary Bortz all died earlier.
Private cremation and burial will take place at the convenience of the family. The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St., Phillipsburg is handling the arrangements.

Arlene E. Price
Arlene E. Price, 81, of Phillipsburg, died Friday, January 30, 2004 in Easton Hospital.
She formerly worked for Magnetic Windings in Easton and New York Transformer, Alpha.
Born July 21, 1922 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Russell W. and Tillie Reese Walters.
She was a member of the Easton Moose Lodge and Club Mohican. She enjoyed traveling, tips to Atlantic City and playing bingo.
Arlene and her husband, Winfield J. "Winnie" Price celebrated their fifty-third wedding anniversary September 2, 2003.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three brothers, C. Jack Walters of Plainfield Twp., Richard F. and Raymond D. Walters, both of Easton; two nieces, Lori Boyington and her husband James and Terry Kloiber and her husband Frank; two nephews, Jeffrey S. Walters and his wife Lynn and John R. Bachman, Jr. and his wife Josie; a grand niece, Erica Walters and two grand nephews, Scott Walters and Stephen Kloiber. A sister, Shirley L. Bachman died earlier.
Services will be held at Noon on Wednesday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. The Rev. Tom Robinson of the Calvary United Methodist Church of Easton will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of services Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Winfield J. Price
Winfield J. "Winnie" Price, 78, of Phillipsburg, died Wednesday, June 7, 2006 in Warren Hospital.
Born July 7, 1927 in Phillipsburg, he was a son of the late James and Jennie Vagas Price.
He formerly worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Ingersoll-Rand in Phillipsburg, Trans-o-Gram in Easton and was an assistant caretaker of the St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Greenwich Twp., N.J.
He was a Technician Fifth Grade in the Army during World War Two in France and Germany. He was assigned to the 3574th Transportation Corp Truck Company Heavy. He received the Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Before entering the Army, Winnie was honored to be named "Mr. Lehigh Valley" for his body building and strength.
His wife of fifty-three years, the late Arlene E. (Walters) Price died January 30, 2004.
Winnie belonged to many area social organizations, including the Citizen's Hose Co., Order of Fleas, West Easton Fire Co., Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #45, Easton, the Y.M.I.A., The Jersey Hose and Phillipsburg Fire Co. No. 1, Phillipsburg.
He is survived by a brother Bernard and his wife Stella of Phillipsburg; a sister Anna Ferreira of Bristol, Rhode Island and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Richard and James "Jeep" died earlier.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp.

Joseph Pugliese
Joseph Pugliese, 74, of Phillipsburg, died Saturday, April 5, 2003 in his home.
He was a retired heavy construction mason.
Born February 27, 1929 in Phillipsburg, he was a son of the late Salvatore, Sr., and Anna Chiaravolotti Pugliese.
He was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.
He was a former football coach for the Firthtown Football team
He was a life member of the Seventh Ward Democratic Club, Easton; a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Sacred Order of the Golden Dragon.
He was a Yoeman Third Class in the Navy during World War Two and a Private First Class in the Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by two sons, Dana of Oxford, Alabama, and Joseph of Cocoa, Florida; two daughters, Margaret Ann Garrecht of Phillipsburg and Joleen of New York, N.Y.; two sisters Rose M. Patti of Lopatcong Twp. and Mary Russo of Jersey City; six grandchildren and a great-grandson. A son, Russell A., two brothers, Anthony and Salvatore, Jr.; and a sister, Ruth Tolotta all died earlier.
Funeral services will be held 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003 in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg, NJ. Burial will be in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province line Road, Wrightstown, N.J. Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. until time of services Thursday in the funeral home.

Nicholas J. Pugliese
Nicholas Joseph Pugliese, 80, of Forks Township, died Saturday, October 16, 2004 in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill.
He was an insurance agent for Allstate Insurance for thirty years, retiring in 1990 and was a police officer in Phillipsburg from 1955 to 1960.
Born April 16, 1924, he was a son of the late Nicodemo and Mary Bisolo Pugliese.
He was an Army Technician Fourth Grade, serving with the 529th and 214th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalions from 1943 to 1946. He received the WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal.
He was a member and former lector at St. Anthony of Pauda Catholic Church, Easton. He was a past president and life member of the church's Holy Name Society; was a past president of both the Holy Family Golf and Bowling leagues and was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Fleas, Easton. He was a past president of the Policeman's Benevolent Association, Local 56, Phillipsburg.
He and his wife, the former Rose Attanasio Possinger observed their 25th wedding anniversary May 26th.
He was a 1942 graduate of Phillipsburg High School.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Michael and his wife Carla of Easton, Mark of San Diego, Matthew of Reading, Pa., Jeffrey and his wife Catherine of Joshua, Tx, and Richard and his wife Layla of Murphy, Tx; two brothers Joseph of Palmer Twp. and Samuel of Wernersville, Pa.; a step-son Frank Possinger and his wife Nancy of Wheaton, Ill.; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A brother Anthony and four sisters, Victoria M. Krosincky , Angelina Bianca, Frances Rodeo and Millie Pugliese all died earlier. Nick would also want to acknowledge his wife's family in Italy and Holland, with whom he always kept in close contact with.
Funeral services will begin at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Church, 9th and Lehigh Sts., Easton. Entombment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Russell Alan Pugliese, 34, of Phillipsburg, died Monday, June 23, 1997 in his home.
He currently worked for White Rox Chemical Co., Phillipsburg. He had formerly worked for Frazier Industrial in Long Valley, NJ and for Pino's Pizza in South Side Easton.
Born December 20, 1962 in Phillipsburg, he is the son of Joseph Puglise of Phillipsburg and Carol Roseberry Adkins of Cocoa, Fla.
He was a private first class in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the World Wide Church of God in Allentown.
He was a member of the Seventh Ward Democratic Club, Easton.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Margaret Roseberry of Melbourne, Fla.; two brothers, Joseph of Cocoa, Fla and Dana of Easton; one sister, Margaret Ann Garrecht of Easton; one step-sister, Joleen Pugliese of Ft. Myers, Fla; and six nieces and nephews.
A period of visitation will be held 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Funeral services and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Salvatore Pugliese, Jr.
Salvatore "Toot" Pugliese, Jr., 68, of Pohatcong Twp., NJ, died Saturday, November 14, 1998 in ManorCare Health Services in Palmer Twp., Pa.
He and his wife, the former Lorraine Manazer, who together observed their forty-fourth wedding anniversary February 21, owned and operated Toot's Tavern on South Main Street in Phillipsburg for the past 28 years. He was previously a self-employed bricklayer and operated the Pugliese Construction Co.
Born August 18, 1930 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Ann Marie Chiavrelotti Pugliese.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alpha, NJ.
He was a corporal in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and served with the third infantry division and was awarded the Korean Campaign Ribbon with three bronze service stars.
He was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union, Local 26; John Dolak American Legion Post 446, Alpha, NJ; Life member of the Phillipsburg Fire Co. Number 1 and the Order of Fleas in Easton.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Salvatore, III of Palmer Twp., Daniel J. of Wilson Boro and Michael J. of Easton; a brother Joseph of Phillipsburg; two sisters, Mary Russo of Jersey City and Rose M. Patti of Lopatcong Twp. and five grandchildren. A brother Anthony and a sister, Ruth Tolotta both died earlier.

Mary E. Pursel, 91, formerly of the Brakeley Garden Apts and Huntington, Pohatcong Twp., died Tuesday, March 19, 1996 in the Care Center of Lopatcong where she was a guest since 1993.
She worked in the maintenance dept. At Ingersoll-Rand for many years and retired in 1979.
Born August 31, 1904 in Easton, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Bertha Horn Clause.
She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Straw Church Circle, Greenwich Twp.
She was a member of the Greenwich Twp. Senior Citizens and St. Mary's Golden Age Club, Alpha.
He husband, the late Stanley B. Pursel died in 1953.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas S. Of Mt. Lake, NJ, Alvin C. of Pohatcong Twp. and Robert W. Of Lopatcong Twp.; one daughter, Elizabeth V. Purdy of Pohatcong Twp.; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Four brothers, Edwin, Alvin, Robert and William and two sisters, Helen Betts and Elizabeth Tigar all died earlier.

Doris M. Randolph
Doris Mae Randolph, 75, of Phillipsburg, passed on to be with our Lord, on Saturday, November 16, 2002, after a long illness.
Before retiring, she was employed in the production department of the Atlantic Spring Co., in Flemington, N.J. She also loved being a waitress and did so for many years in several New Jersey and Pennsylvania restaurants. She loved cooking, gardening, crocheting and going to yard sales. She would often sit for hours working on a crossword puzzle or sitting in the family boat fishing and relaxing.
Born February 24, 1927 in Scranton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William and Mildred Strause Ensminger.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Broadway.
She is survived by her loving husband of forty-eight years, Ernest F. and their daughter and son-in-law, Gayla and Ken Gerhardt of Holland Township, N.J.; their daughter Shirley of Frenchtown, N.J.; five grandchildren, Wendy, Mark, Sarah, Emily and Becky; two grandsons-in-law, John and Drew; a granddaughter-in-law, Marcy and three great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Kyle and Olivia.
There will be no calling hours. Private cremation will be held and a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg is handling the arrangements.
