RICHARD "LOUIE" CLAYTON, 55, of HOWELL, died Sunday, Aug. 12, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. Mr. Clayton was born in Long Branch, was raised in Asbury Park and lived in Wall before moving to Howell in 1988. He was a parishioner of St. Veronica's Catholic Church, Howell, and a parishioner and student at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Asbury Park. Mr. Clayton was a dry wall finisher with I.B.P.A.T. Local 1976, Neptune, for more than 25 years, retiring in 2006.

He was predeceased by his mother, Madeline Gomolka; and his maternal grandparents, Luigi and Gillorma Giannini. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Anne Clayton; three daughters and a son-in-law, Jennifer and Michael Teeter of Downingtown, Pa., Christine Clayton of Howell, and Sarah Clayton of Howell; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Donna Gomolka of Asbury Park; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and James Itzcovitz of Montville; his stepfather, Charles Gomolka of Budapest, Hungary; a sister-in-law, Mary Doyle of Basking Ridge; three nephews, Joel, Robbie Jr. and Anthony; and five nieces, Kelly, Kimberly, Rose, Kristen and Evelyn.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Veronica's Catholic Church, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Clayton may be made to the Medical Center Development, Abramson Cancer Center, University of Pennsylvania, 3535 Market St., Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104-3309 and would be appreciated.

THOMAS H. COLSON, 50, of HOWELL, died Monday, Sept. 18, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Mr. Colson was born in Richmond, Va., and lived in Neptune before moving to Howell in 1989. He was an officer for the Monmouth County Sheriff's Department, Law Enforcement Division at the Monmouth County Courthouse, Freehold. He was an emergency medical technician for New Brunswick and Richmond, Va. He was a volunteer member of the Monmouth County Fire Police. Through his passion for medieval history and artifacts, he became a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism.

He was predeceased by his father, James M. Colson. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Roberts Colson; a daughter, Rebecca Elizabeth Colson of Howell; his mother, Helen E. Colson of Neptune; a brother, James Major Colson V of Belleville; and a sister-in-law, Dana Hum of South Hackensack.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Family and friends may gather at 8: 30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal followed by a 9: 30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale. Interment will follow in St. Anne's Cemetery, Wall. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Colson may be made to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, 386 Park Ave. South, 17th Floor, New York, NY 10016, and would be appreciated.

LOUIS A. CONFORTI SR., 86, of JACKSON, died Monday, Feb. 12, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Mr. Conforti was born in Newark and had lived in Nutley and Seaside Heights before moving to Jackson in 2005. He was a machinist with Bendix Corp. in Teterboro and Eatontown for over 20 years, retiring in 1982. From 1964 to 1980, Mr. Conforti owned and operated "The Bozo Drop" on the boardwalk in Seaside Heights.

He was predeceased by his brother, Jerry Conforti; and a sister, Josephine Russo. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Phillis Conforti; a son, Louis A. Conforti Jr. of Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Phillis and Wayne Jeffrey of Howell; two granddaughters, his beauties, Grace and Sophia Jeffrey; and a sister, Carmela Colangelo of Brick.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal, followed by an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson. JOAN CONK, 69, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Monday, March 5, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Mrs. Conk was born in Lakewood and lived in Jackson before moving to Freehold Township in 1958. Mrs. Conk was a homemaker. She was a former member of Siloam United Methodist Church, Jackson.

Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Howard Conk; four sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Eileen Conk of Jackson, Edwin and Kim Conk of Toms River, John and Frances Conk of Farmingdale, and Anthony and Denise Conk of Toms River; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Russ Clark of Jackson; a sister, Alberta Tonkin of Parkertown; 12 grandchildren, Daphne, Cher, Gwendlyn, Jackie, Howard Jr., Glen, Amanda, Jeffery, Sherri, John Jr., Christopher and Tyler; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Jackson.

MICHAEL J. "MURPH" CONNOLLY, 18, of the Clarksburg section of MILLSTONE TOWNSHIP, died Sunday, May 28, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Murph was born in New Brunswick and had lived there until moving to the Clarksburg section of Millstone 11 years ago. Murph was a senior at Allentown High School and worked as a manager at the Nauticia Store at the Jackson Outlets. He enjoyed chilling out with his friends.

Surviving are his parents, John and Kathy Connolly of Clarksburg; a sister, Shannon Connolly at home; and his maternal grandparents, Dominic D'Allessandro and Mary Buchanan D'Allessandro.

Friends and relatives are invited to gather from 10 to 11: 30 a.m. Wednesday, followed by his 11: 30 a.m. memorial service at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a scholarship in memory of Murph. LAURA CONWAY, 29, of BRICK died Wednesday, June 14 in Sausalito, Calif. Ms. Conway was born in Rahway and had lived in Farmingdale and Toms River before moving to Brick in 2003. She was a foster care recruiter for DYFS in the Northern Ocean County Division. Prior to that, she was a family service specialist in the Southern Monmouth County division and a third grade teacher at the Ardena Elementary School, Howell. She was a 1995 graduate of Howell High School, a 1999 graduate of Georgian Court College, Lakewood, and she was currently seeking her master's degree in social work at Monmouth University, Long Branch.
She is survived by her life partner, Tammy Schuber of Brick; her parents, Edward and Irene Conway of Howell; one brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Kim Conway of Albrightsville, Pa.; one sister, Kathy Conway of Farmingdale; her maternal grandparents, Al and Tessie Haligowski of Whiting; her in-laws, Edward and June Schuber of Toms River; her uncle, Daniel Conway of Lakewood; and two nieces and one nephew, Kimmie, Audrey and Joey.

Visiting will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at the Clayton and McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Family and friends may gather at 8: 30 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal followed by a 9: 30 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Asbury Road, Farmingdale, with the Rev. Michael Vona officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.

EDITH F. COOPER, 91, of JACKSON, died Tuesday, March 6, at Care One at Jackson, Jackson, where the staff gave her extraordinary care for which the family is most grateful. Mrs. Cooper was born in Malden, Mass., and had lived on Staten Island, East Brunswick, and The Villages in Howell before moving to Jackson in 2002. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Freehold. She was a Columbiette at Stossenstaller Council, Staten Island, N.Y. She was a homemaker.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, John D. Cooper, in 2005; and two brothers, Alden Hills and Aubrey Hills. Surviving are a son, John D. Cooper Jr. and his wife Virginia of Aurora, Colo.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Daniel Devine of Lakewood, and Barbara and George Helmers of Bel Air, Md.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Visiting hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal followed by her 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, McLean Street, Freehold. GERTRUDE CORNELL, 82, of HOWELL, died Monday, Feb. 5, at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Mrs. Cornell was born in Weinheim, Germany, and lived there before moving to the United States in 1960, settling in Howell in 1965. Mrs. Cornell was a housekeeper for many homes in the area and also worked at Howell Lanes for many years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Martin L. Cornell, in 2003; two brothers; and three sisters. Surviving are two sons, Klause Cornell of Las Vegas, and Martin "Butch" Cornell of Howell; and three grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be from 7 p.m. Thursday until her funeral service at 8: 30 p.m. at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. Interment will be private.

STEPHEN CULLEN, 83, of JACKSON, died Sunday, April 29, at home. Mr. Cullen was born in Brooklyn and lived there until moving to Freehold Township in 1985. He settled to Jackson in 2006. Mr. Cullen was a World War II veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart, serving in the 4th Division of the U.S. Marine Corps throughout the Pacific Theater. He was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Freehold. He was also a former president of the Freehold Township Seniors. Mr. Cullen was a service technician for General Electric in Brooklyn for more than 30 years, retiring in 1984.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jean M. Cullen, and two brothers, Robert and Francis. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Jan Cullen Jr. of Kissimmee, Fla.; three daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Nally of Jackson, Joan Cullen of Brooklyn, and Judy and James Kane of Brooklyn; and six grandchildren, Thomas Nally, Christopher Nally, Suzanne Nally, Anne Cullen, James Kane and William Kane and a brother, James Cullen of St. Louis.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. JAMES PETER "BUBSY" CUMMISKEY SR., 56, of HOWELL, died Monday, June 25, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Cummiskey was born and raised in the New Brighton section of Staten Island and had lived in the Westerleigh section of Staten Island before moving to Howell in 1986. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam era. Mr. Cummiskey played basketball for St. Peter's High School for Boys, Staten Island. He was an avid sports fan and loved to entertain family and friends. He was a letter carrier for over 31 years working in the St. George and Totenville Post Offices in Staten Island. After retiring, he worked for the Lakewood Blue Claws.

He was predeceased by his father, Albert "Bubs" Cummiskey, in 1999; and a sister, Mary Ellenn Cummiskey. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Janice Cummiskey; one son, James Peter Cummiskey Jr. of Jackson; two daughters, Keri Cummiskey of Jackson, and Kelly Cummiskey of Freehold and her fiance Matthew Ginsberg; his mother, Betty Cummiskey of Staten Island; four sisters, Maureen Ortel of Manchester, Betsy Cummiskey of Staten Island, Jeannie Holder of Staten Island, and Lynn Olson of Roselle Park.

Visiting will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 8: 30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal, followed by his Funeral Mass at 9: 30 a.m. at the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. WILLIAM DALEY, 80, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Sunday, June 25, at Atlantic Coast Rehab. & Nursing, Lakewood. Mr. Daley was born in Long Branch, was raised in Freehold, and had lived in Howell for 50 years before moving back to Freehold three years ago. He was a life member and former chief of the Southard Fire Company, Howell. He was a former member and past master of the Southard Grange, where he and his wife were avid dancers. He loved sports and was an avid league bowler and Yankee fan. Mr. Daley was a former Little League umpire and manager for over 30 years. He was a milkman for Pleasant Plains Dairy for many years, retiring in 1979. After that, he worked for Level Line, Lakewood.

Surviving are his wife of almost 54 years, Joyce Daley; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Timothy J. Daley of Freehold Township, William C. and Elaine Daley of Tinton Falls, and Patrick H. Daley of Brick; two sisters, Rena Domanski of Freehold, and Rosiland Kennedy of Freehold Township; and five grandchildren, Amanda Daley of Brick, and Timothy James, Matthew, James and Andrew of Howell, and their mother, Anna Daley.

Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Adelphia Cemetery, Adelphia.
