Norman C. Dennehy
MARION, Mass. - Norman Charles Dennehy, 66, formerly of Rye, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, in Tobey Hospital, Wareham, Mass.
He was born Sept. 30, 1936, the son of the late Raymond A. and Olga E. (Bergman) Dennehy.
He attended Sippican School, Marion. He was a 1955 graduate of Tabor Academy and a 1961 graduate of Stockbridge School of Agriculture, UMass, Amherst, with an associate’s degree in turf management.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving as a hospital corpsman.
Mr. Dennehy was a golf course superintendent at Abenaqui Country Club, Rye Beach. He had previously been the superintendent at Cotton Bay Club, Eleuthera, Bahamas; Normandie Golf Club, Bel-Nor, Mo.; Willingboro Country Club, Willingboro, N.J.; and Country Club of New Bedford, North Dartmouth, Mass.; Following his retirement he worked for Merchants Motors in Rye and after returning to Marion, at Little Harbor Country Club in Wareham.
He was a Class A member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of American and was a speaker at two of their national conventions. He was president of the N.H. Golf Course Superintendents Association in 1975-76.
He was cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 183, Rye, and was an EMT for the Rye Volunteer Ambulance Corps for seven years and was a CPR instructor during that time.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carole R. (Jackson) Dennehy of Marion; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael Dennehy of Melbourne Beach, Fla., Timothy and Andrea Dennehy of Fredericksburg, Va., and Patrick and Eva Dennehy of Hampton; four grandchildren; and several cousins.
He was predeceased by one brother, Raymond A. Dennehy Jr.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Stott, Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, Wareham. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Marion.

Kenneth S. Ellingwood
EXETER - Kenneth S. Ellingwood, 85, of 23 Hampton Falls Road, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, in Exeter Hospital.
He was born Feb. 15, 1917, in Newington, the son of the late Austin P. and D. Vina (Summers) Ellingwood. He was raised by his grandparents, the late Willard and Daisy Delano, and had resided in North Hampton for 50 years before moving to Exeter in 2000.
Mr. Ellingwood owned and operated Ken’s Garage, a landmark on Route 1 in North Hampton, for 58 years, retiring in 2000.
He was devoted to his family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lucille E. (Groetz) Ellingwood; one niece and three nephews.
He was predeceased by one sister, Daisy Ellingwood Heath.
Calling hours will be held Friday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, North Hampton.

Robert G. Parr
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - Robert George Parr, 82, died Dec. 24, 2002, in Memorial Hospital-Pembroke, Hollywood, after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 27, 1920, in Roslindale, Mass., the son of the late Harry and Hetty (Feist) Parr, moving to Hampton in 1929. He resided in Milton, Mass., before moving to Florida in 1967.
He was a 1938 graduate of Hampton Academy and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Parr owned and operated Gold Coast Trucking Co. in Florida. He was previously an ambulance driver in Boston for many years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 35, Hampton.
The widower of Hazel (Moses) Parr, he is survived by two sisters, Doris Small of Epping and Lorraine Busch of Port Charlotte, Fla.; his daughter-in-law, Sharon Parr of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one son, Robert H. Parr; and two brothers, Harry A. Parr and Richard A. Parr.
Lee G. Sargent
EXETER - Lee G. Sargent, 83, of 4 Alumni Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Exeter Healthcare, Inc.
She was born Sept. 27, 1919, in Boston, the daughter of the late Michael and Grace (Spinpole) D’Alu. She lived in Pittsburg, Pa., for many years moving to Exeter in 1994.
Mrs. Sargent worked for Kaufmann’s Department Store in Pittsburg for more than 20 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen L. Sargent of Exeter; one sister, Anna Merra of Kingston, Mass.; a brother-in-law, William Ditocco Sr., of North Weymouth, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter.

Ruth I. Stackhouse
EXETER - Ruth I. (McCormack) Stackhouse, 85, of 277 Water St., died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at her home after a sudden illness.
She was born Jan. 6, 1917, in Ipswich, Mass., the daughter of the late James P. and Hazel L. (Smith) McCormack. She resided in Ipswich until coming to Exeter after her retirement.
She was a 1935 graduate of Manning High School.
Mrs. Stackhouse was an inspector at Webster Industries in Peabody, Mass. She had previously worked as an assembler at CBS Hytron formerly of Danvers, Mass.
She enjoyed crocheting and cooking.
The widow of Burchard H. Stackhouse Sr., she is survived by one son and his wife, Burchard H. and Diana Stackhouse of South Hampton; four grandchildren; two brothers, James McCormick of Ipswich and Richard McCormick of New Durham; two sisters, Barbara Robishaw of Newport, Vt., and Maryanne Lincoln of Wrentham, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, Ipswich. Burial was in New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich.
Mary Ellen Waldman
PORTSMOUTH - Mary Ellen "Meg" Waldman, 53, of 413 Colonial Drive died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 1, 1949, in Weymouth, Mass., the daughter of the late Nelson C. and Helen C. (Quann) Bridges. She had lived in the area for 22 years.
Mrs. Waldman was a self-employed home cleaner for many years.
She was a communicant of St. James Church, Portsmouth.
She is survived by her husband, Emil E.J. Waldman Jr. of Portsmouth; three sisters, Marilyn Thomson and Nancy Rusko, both of Rockland, Mass., and Beverly Bjorkman of Weymouth; her parents-in-law, Emil and Wilhelmina Waldman of Williamsport, Pa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, Buddy Bridges.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9 a.m. in St. James Church, Lafayette Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Rockland, Mass., at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by the Farrell Funeral Home, Portsmouth.
Monica M. Amman
EXETER - Monica Mary Louise Amman, 89, died Dec. 27, 2002, at Exeter Healthcare.
She was born June 6, 1914, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Harold and Gladys (Dearlove) Edwards. She was a longtime resident of the Seacoast and Hampton Beach.
Mrs. Amman was a woman of gracious style and adventurous spirit.
The widow of Dr. William C. Amman, she is survived by one sister, Marguerite Fleming of Calgary, Alberta; one brother, Bernard Edwards of Victoria, British Columbia; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Gerald Edwards and Jack Edwards.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 98 Summer St., Portsmouth. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Portsmouth.
Arrangements are by the Farrell Funeral Home, Portsmouth.
Stephen G. Bridges
CHATHAM, Mass. - Stephen G. Bridges, 61, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, after a sudden illness.
He was the son of the late Herbert G. and Annette (French) Bridges and was raised in North Hampton.
He was a 1959 graduate of Winnacunnet High School, Hampton, and of Northeastern University.
Mr. Bridges owned Solar Energy Control on Cape Cod and had previously worked as an engineer in the Boston area for many years.
He was a skilled wood craftsman, and enjoyed cooking, sailing, canoeing, gardening, cars and jazz.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sonya J. (Felch) Bridges; one son, Stephen J. Bridges Jr. of Pepperell, Mass., one daughter, Shelley Donahue of Cherry Hill, N.J.; five grandchildren; and one brother, Robert Bridges of Brookfield, Conn.
Memorial services were held Saturday in First Congregational Church, Chatham.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements were by the Manger Funeral Home, Norwalk, Conn.
Monica J. Capano
STRATHAM - Monica J. Capano, 46, of 18 Christie Lane, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital, following a sudden illness.
She was born Oct. 27, 1956, in Manhattan, the daughter of Louis M. and Margaret (York) Bodi of Staten Island, N.Y. She was raised in Staten Island and resided in Middletown, N.J., for 18 years before moving to Stratham two years ago.
Mrs. Capano was a teacher’s assistant in the special education program of the Middletown public school system.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 24 years, Nicholas G. Capano; one daughter, Stephanie L. Capano of Stratham; one son , Nicholas G. Capano Jr., of Stratham; two brothers, Michael Bodi of Chester, Vt., and Louis Bodi of Middletown; one sister, Cynthia Raimondi of Staten Island; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter.

Esther L. Flanagan
STRATHAM - Esther L. Flanagan, 88, of Portsmouth Avenue, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2002, at the Dover Rehabilitation Center.
She was born March 26, 1914, in Antwerp, Belgium, the daughter of the late Harry and Maria F. (Lucas) Williams. She was raised in Fort Lee, N.J.
She was a graduate of Pace College.
Mrs. Flanagan worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until her retirement in 1984. Following her retirement she ran an antique shop.
She was an active communicant of St. Michael Church and attended daily mass.
She was a longtime speed skater and was a member of the Peerless Skating Club.
The widow of Patrick F. Flanagan, who died in 1985, she is survived by two sons, James Flanagan and his wife Peggy of Dover and Michael Flanagan of Stratham; one daughter and her husband, Susan L. and Brian Ellis of Hawaii; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by one daughter, Lisa Flanagan, who died in 1993.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 9:30 until 10:40 a.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Exeter. Spring burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.
