Lloyd Tibbetts

BRENTWOOD - Lloyd Tibbetts, 59, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002 of a massive circulatory failure while working on his Meadow Mist Farm Wildlife Refuge.

He was born in Brentwood, the son of Lloyd and Eleanor (Smart) Tibbetts of Exeter.

He was a graduate of Sanborn Seminary, Kingston, and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany where he attained the rank of specialist 5.

Mr. Tibbetts was a veteran of the Portsmouth Police Department and had served as an officer with the Tilton Police Department before his career with the Portsmouth Police Department began in 1966.

His life was juxtaposed with the safety of people, wildlife and land management. He uniquely related to nature and knew every inch of his woods, naming trails, noticing idiosyncrasies of the wild life and identifying indigenous plants and trees as well as unusual varieties. He opened up land for water fowl habitats and worked to adjust water levels on his land to attract and sustain wildlife populations and was a tremendous storyteller.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 34 years, Diane (Miller) Tibbetts; two daughters, Jennifer Young and her husband Michael of Sidney, Maine, and Amanda Tibbetts of Barrington; one grandson; one sister, Anne Dooley of Cambridge, Mass.; one brother, John D. Tibbetts of Brentwood; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Exeter Baptist Church, Front and Spring streets, Exeter. Burial will follow in Brentwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Brentwood Fire and Rescue, 148 Crawley Falls Road, Brentwood NH 03833 or to the Brentwood Conservation Commission, 1 Dalton Road, Brentwood, NH 03833.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Sara E. Depuy

NEWMARKET - Sara Elizabeth "Nana Bee" (Dearborn) Depuy, 94, of Piscassic Street, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at her home.

She was born Aug. 10, 1908, in Belmont, the daughter of William C. and Susan (Moulton) Dearborn. She resided in Needham, Mass., for 50 years moving to Newmarket in 1995. She spent her summers on Rocky Pond in Canterbury for 40 years.

She attended schools in Tilton.

Mrs. Depuy was active with many organizations in Needham including the Needham Congregational Church and the Needham Women’s Club.

She enjoyed knitting, gardening and was an avid Red Sox fan.

The widow of Fred N. Depuy, who died in 1978, she is survived by one son and his wife, William N. and Nancy Depuy of Moultonboro; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four stepchildren; and two nieces.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket. A spring Committal Service will be held May 3 at 1 p.m. in South Road Cemetery, Belmont.

Roland W. Desjardins

PORTSMOUTH - Roland W. Desjardins, 74, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Edgewood Centre, where he had resided for the past year.

He was born Nov. 24, 1928, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of the late Albert and Philomena (Plourde) Desjardins. He resided in Lawrence for most of his life, moving to Manchester in 1996 and to Portsmouth last year.

He attended Sacred Heart School in Lawrence and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Mr. Desjardins was employed in the shipping department of the former Converse Co. in Andover, Mass., for many years.

He is survived by one son, Wayne Grady, and his wife, Susan, of Plaistow; one grandchild; six sisters, Theresa A. McGrath of Dover, Claire McGuire of Lawrence, Rita Cunningham and Louise Pelletier, both of North Andover, Mass., Margaret Laplume of Raymond and Marierose Miller of Nashua; two brothers, Norman Desjardins of Mooresville, N.C., and Albert Desjardins of Methuen, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by one brother, Robert Desjardins; and one sister, Lorriane Lemay.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday in St. James Church, Portsmouth. Private burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lawrence.

Memorial donations may be made to the Maryknoll Sisters, P.O. Box 311, Maryknoll, NY 10545-0311.

Arrangements were by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, Hampton.

Josephine P. Doherty

MEDFIELD, Mass. - Josephine P. (Cahill) Doherty, 76, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, in MetroWest Medical Center, Natick, Mass., after a sudden illness.

She was born June 21, 1926, in Medfield, the daughter of the late John F. and Bridie J. (Purcell) Cahill, and was a lifelong resident of Medfield.

She was a 1944 graduate of Medfield High School.

Mrs. Doherty was a homemaker most of her life and had worked for several years at Decelle’s, The Charles Manufacturing Co. in Medfield and Zayre’s in Framingham. Mass.

She was a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church, Medfield, and a member of the Medfield Senior Citizens Club.

The widow of Paul E. Doherty, she is survived by two sons, Paul E. Doherty Jr. and his wife Linda of Seabrook and John "Duffy" Doherty of Medfield; two daughters and their husbands, Deirdre A. and John Curran of Milford, Mass., and Jody and David Brown of Canton; six grandchildren; one brother J. Joseph Cahill of Walpole, Mass.; and two sisters, Margaret Cahill of Medfield and Barbara Ann Thompson of Norwood, Mass.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday in St. Edward the Confessor Church. Burial was in Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield.

Memorial donations may be made to the Medfield Home Committee, 459 Main St., Medfield MA 02052.

Arrangements were by the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Service, Medfield.

R. Dexter Goodrich

EXETER - R. Dexter Goodrich, 79, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, in Exeter Hospital.

He was the son of Chester A. and Doris (Andrews) Goodrich. He resided in Epping for 40 years before moving to Exeter in 1961. He was a summer resident of Strafford Bow Lake.

He was a graduate of Epping High School and Becker College, Worcester, Mass., and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II serving with the military police in the South Pacific from 1942 until 1945.

Mr. Goodrich owned and operated W.S. Goodrich Inc., in Epping, until his retirement.

He was a member and past president of the Exeter Lions Club and a member of the Portsmouth Shriner Club.

He was past president of the Epping Co-operative Bank; a former director of Indian Head Bank and Fleet Bank of Portsmouth and Exeter; and a former director of the Brick Institute of America, New England Division.

He was past master of the Major John Sullivan Lodge No. 2 of Epping; past patron of Queen Esther Chapter Order of Eastern Star; a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Portsmouth and Dover; and a 32nd degree Mason. He was past advisor to the Exeter Order of DeMolay.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lorraine (Thyng) Goodrich; three sons, David D. Goodrich of Deerfield, Robert R. Goodrich of Epping and Stephen S. Goodrich of Shoreham, Vt.; four grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Claude H. Goodrich, William Goodrich and Otis Goodrich; and two grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Exeter Baptist Church, Spring St., Exeter.

Holli Hart

DURHAM - Holli Hart, 48, of Durham Point Road, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, in Greenland, as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

She was born Feb. 17, 1954, in Anchorage, Alaska, the daughter of Bernard and Nancy (Wooster) DesRoches, and had resided in Hawaii for 25 years before moving to Durham 12 years ago.

She was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor of arts degree in communications and was a member of the Golden Key and Phi Kappa Phi Honor societies.

Ms. Hart was the business manager of Chaseso Construction in Durham.

She was very active in Durham civic affairs and assisted in the formation of Durham Cable Access Television.

As a breast cancer survivor, her concern for those around her motivated her in the service of others. She had a deep interest in the arts, loved animals and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Chase Jr. of Durham; one daughter, Jennifer L. Koos of Durham; two brothers, Charles DesRoches of Salinas, Calif., and William DesRoches of Watsonville, Calif.; one sister, Amy DesRoches of Santa Cruz, Calif.; two stepsons, Malcolm Chase III and Jeremiah Chase II, both of Yarmouth, Maine; her mother-in-law, Charlotte Chase of Durham; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Community Church of Durham, Main Street, Durham, with the Rev. Mary Westfall officiating.

Barbara Morrill

NEWMARKET - Barbara (Pierce) Morrill, 80, died Saturday. Dec. 7, 2002, at Riverside Rest Home, Dover, where she had resided for the past eight years.

She was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Acton, Maine, the daughter of Augusta E. and Helen (Sanborn) Pierce Jr. She resided in Newmarket for many years before moving to Candlelight Manor in Rochester and then to Riverside Rest Home.

The widow of William H. Morrill, who died in 1965, she is survived by one brother, George Pierce of Rochester; one sister, Lois Cinfo of Exeter; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one brother, Maurice Pierce.

Private burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Newmarket.

Blanche M. Nadeau-Merrill

HAMPTON FALLS - Blanche M. (Bourque) Nadeau-Merrill, 85, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at her home after a sudden illness.

She was born in Everett, Mass., the daughter of the late Joseph and Regina Bourque. She had resided in Hampton Falls for 27 years coming from Saugus, Mass.

Mrs. Nadeau-Merrill was a homemaker.

She was a former member of St. Margaret’s Sodality, Saugus.

She is survived by one daughter, Jean Blanchard of Rowley, Mass.; two sons, Ronald Nadeau of Saugus and Richard Nadeau of Ashland, Mass.; three stepdaughters, Marjorie Davies and Cynthia Trumbell, both of Hampton Falls, and Caroline Trovato of New York; two stepsons, Russell Merrill and George Merrill, both of Hampton Falls; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Bernard J. Nadeau; her second husband, Russell Merrill; two sisters, France Bourque and Edna Deveau; and one brother, Albert Bourque.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday in St. Margaret’s Church, Saugus. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, Mass.

Arrangements were by the Bisbee-Procella Funeral Home, Saugus.

Leo M. Prenaveau

DANVILLE - Leo Mark Prenaveau, 55, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma.

He was born April 6, 1947, in Lawrence, Mass. He was a 1965 graduate of Sanborn Regional High School and a 1969 graduate of St. Anselm’s College where he was an outstanding trumpet player and band conductor.

Mr. Prenaveau and his brother James owned and operated Royal Woodcraft in Kingston. He was president of the family furniture store founded by his mother and father in 1962.

He was a volunteer firefighter for Kingston and Newton for 25 years and held the positions of captain and deputy chief. He also served as a special deputy for the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department.

He was a member of the board of directors of the Plaistow Co-operative Bank in Plaistow from 1984 until 1995.

He enjoyed golf, the Caribbean and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kathy Lynn (Alberts) Prenaveau; one daughter, Lisa Bentley Andrzejewski of Seymour, Conn.; one son, Christopher J. Prenaveau of Stoughton, Mass.; his mother, Gertrude G. (Gray) Prenaveau of Kingston; two grandchildren; and two brothers, Bertin C. Prenaveau of Wolfeboro and James G. Prenaveau of Kingston.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Exeter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 3 Forest St., New Canaan, CT 06840.
