V. Jane Quimby
PORTSMOUTH - V. Jane Quimby, 79, formerly of Kingston, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation, Portsmouth.
She was born Feb. 14, 1923, in Rochester, and was raised by Moreau and Nellie Burnham. She had resided in Kingston since 1989 coming from Exeter and Merrimac, Mass.
Mrs. Quimby owned and operated Jane's Beauty Shop in Merrimac and the Kingston Beauty & Thrift Shop in Kingston. She was also a cashier in the Exeter Hospital cafeteria for several years.
The widow of Howard F. Quimby Jr. who died in 1976, she is survived by one son, Leigh M. Quimby of Exeter; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lucille Daly of Fremont.
She was predeceased by one son, Gordon Quimby, who died in 1978.
Private graveside services will be held in the spring in Union Cemetery, Newton.
Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.
George W. Bacon Jr.
KINGSTON - George W. Bacon Jr., 78, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Riverside Rest Home, Dover.
He was born March 12, 1924, in Somerville, Mass., the son of the late George W. and Annie L. (Ewell) Bacon Sr. He was raised in Woburn, Mass., and had resided in Arlington, Tewksbury and Newburyport, Mass., before moving to Kingston, Exeter and Dover.
He was educated in Woburn schools and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Bacon was a manager for Raytheon in Lowell, Mass., for several years.
He enjoyed boating at the Carl-Island Marina in Newburyport.
He is survived by one son, George W. Bacon III of Acton, Mass., one daughter, Susan Brackworth of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Mary Cross of Kingston, with whom he made his home, and Margaret T. Weadick of Burlington, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday in the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Claire M. Cahill
STRATHAM - Claire M. Cahill, 67, of 6 Crestview Terrace, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation in Exeter after a courageous 14 year battle with cancer.
She was born Sept. 6, 1935, in the Dorchester section of Boston, the daughter of the late Frank and Beatrice (Quigley) Flanagan and had resided in Stratham since 1962 coming from Boston.
She was a 1953 graduate of Dorchester High School.
Mrs. Cahill was a waitress at the former Blinstrub’s Night Club in Boston from 1959 until 1966 and later at the Ashworth Hotel at Hampton Beach.
She was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Newmarket and was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Submarine Veterans of World War II.
She enjoyed traveling and bowling.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, David F. Cahill of Stratham; three sisters, Elizabeth Audette of Ocala, Fla., Frances Mahoney of Quincy, Mass., and Catherine Goldsmith of North Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Germaine H. Censabella
ROCHESTER - Germaine H. Censabella, 89, of 30 Country Brook Estates, formerly of Seabrook, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, in Frisbee Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 4, 1913, in Lewiston, Maine, the daughter of the late Henry and Melvina (LeClerc) Veilleux and had resided in Rochester for four years. She had resided in Seabrook since 1983 coming from East Boston.
Mrs. Censabella was a former communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joseph D. Censabella; two sons, Daniel J. Censabella of Rochester and Gerard A. Censabella of Hudson; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; three brothers, Henry Veilleux of Windham, Leo Veilleux of Boston and Arthur Veilleux of Winthrop, Mass.; one sister, Violet Raymond of Lynn, Mass., and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Gerard Veilleux and Roland Veilleux.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Seabrook.
Arrangements were by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.
Dorothy S. Gage
HAMPTON - Dorothy S. Gage, 88, of 6 Hunter Drive, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Seacoast Health Center.
She was born Oct. 14, 1914, in Teaneck, N.J., the daughter of the late William and Theresa (Keane) Spottiswood and had resided in Hampton for the past 13 years coming from Hamilton, Mass., and Harrington Park, N.J.
Mrs. Gage was an accountant for Medical Economics, a medical digest publisher in Oradell, N.J.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol A. Douglass of Hampton, with whom she made her home; one son, William A. Garrett III of Sylvania, Ohio; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, William A. Garrett Jr., and her second husband, Herbert Gage.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Victories Church, Harrington Park. Burial will follow in Mary Rest Cemetery, Mahwah, N.J.
Assistance with the arrangements was by the Remick &Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory.
Vincent N. Giannini
EXETER - Vincent N. Giannini, 82, of 7 Juniper Ridge Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Seacoast Health Center, Hampton.
He was born May 9, 1920, in Lesina, Italy, the son of the late Guiseppe and Maria Giannini. He came to America in 1928 and settled in Boston.
He was a 1939 graduate of Boston Latin School and was a graduate of Lowell Teachers College, now the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, with a double degree in elementary education and music education. He served with the military and later earned his master’s degree from Tufts University.
Mr. Giannini was a music professor at Salem State College for 31 years.
Following his retirement in 1985 he moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., where he lived nine months of the year. Much of his time was spent playing with the St. Petersburg Concert Band, the Pasadena Town Band and Gulfport Cavaliers and volunteering at Dixie Hollis High School, assisting with their brass band. He also did administrative volunteer work at the Veterans Administration Medical Center at Bay Pines, Fla.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Edith (Perna) Giannini; one daughter and her husband, Pamela and James Tobey of Exeter; two grandsons; one sister-in-law, Tina Masciarelli of St. Petersburg and East Bridgewater, Mass.; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Perna of St. Petersburg and Kensington Conn., and Michael DeFronzo of Medford, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Barbara Morrill
NEWMARKET -Barbara (Pierce) Morrill, 80, died Saturday. Dec. 7, 2002, at Riverside Rest Home, Dover, where she had resided for the past eight years.
She was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Acton, Maine, the daughter of Augusta E. and Helen (Sanborn) Pierce Jr. She resided in Newmarket for many years before moving to Candlelight Manor in Rochester and then Riverside Rest Home.
The widow of William H. Morrill, who died in 1965, she is survived by one brother, George Pierce of Rochester; one sister, Lois Cinfo of Exeter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, Maurice Pierce.
Private burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Newmarket. Assistance with the arrangements is by the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, Newmarket.
Margaret H. Smith
EXETER - Margaret Halsey "Peg" Smith, 90, of RiverWoods, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at her home.
She was born in South Orange, N.J. and was a resident of South Orange for most of her life, retiring to Dorset, Vt., before coming to Exeter.
She was a graduate of the Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.
Mrs. Smith, the widow of Cornelius H. Smith, is survived by one son, Cornelius H. Smith Jr. of Stonington, Conn.; two daughters, Margaret H. Heyd of Johns Island, S.C., and Elizabeth E. Budelman of Brentwood; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held December 26 at 3 p.m. at RiverWoods. A private family service will be held in Dorset.

Phyllis G. Theriault
EXETER - Phyllis G. Theriault, 72, of Sherwood Forest, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at the Lahey Clinic, Burlington, Mass., after a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Brentwood, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Stella (Rock) Hanshaw. She had resided in Amesbury, Mass., for many years, moving to Exeter in 1986.
Mrs. Theriault was employed by the former Amesbury Industries for many years.
The widow of Albert J. Theriault, who died in 1986, she is survived by one daughter, Leola Allsop of South Carolina; three sons, Albert Theriault Jr. and Wayne Theriault, both of South Hampton and Chuck Theriault of Northwood; six grandchildren; two brothers, Allen Hanshaw of Florida and Clyde Hanshaw of Amesbury; and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

John E. Thompson Jr.
HAMPTON FALLS - John E. "Jack" Thompson Jr. 79, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at his home.
He was born June 23, 1923, in Staten Island, N.Y. His mother died before he was a year old and he was raised by his grandmother. He resided in Andover, Mass., before moving to Hampton Falls in 1989.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving with the 1st Marine Division at Guadalcanal and in other areas of the Pacific.
He was a 1954 graduate of Pace University in New York with a bachelor of arts degree in business and accounting.
Mr. Thompson was the former president and chief executive officer of Merrimac Paper Company in Lawrence, Mass. He had previously worked for the New York accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand.
He was the former chairman of the Business-Education Collaborative in Lawrence, which placed business people into the Lawrence classrooms as mentors of the area’s future employees, serving for three years. He became interested in the program initially as a result of a need for reliable personnel at his business. His involvement with the Summer Jobs Program at Lawrence High School gave students the opportunity to explore vocational options in area businesses and develop a strong work ethic.
Mr. Thompson was a charter member of The Greater Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, he had served on the board since 1983 and was elected vice-president in1986 before being elected president. He was the past president of the Greater Lawrence Council of Churches and the Greater Lawrence Ecumenical Area Ministry. He served as a trustee on the board of directors of several banks.
He was a member of Christ Church in Andover and taught Sunday school for 40 years, served as senior warden and the superintendent of the Sunday school.
He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed skiing and fly fishing at his camp on Parmachenee Lake in the Androscoggin River and Rangely Mountain region of Maine and in Iliamma, Alaska.
Mr. Thompson got his pilot’s license when he was 61 and loved flying his plane.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Thompson; one son, Reed P. Thompson of Winchester, Mass.; three daughters, Patricia Trudel of Meredith, Pamela Coco of Pensacola, Fla., and Barbara Spinney of Townsend, Mass.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces, nephews and one cousin.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Exeter Assembly of God, Hampton Falls Road, (Route 88) Exeter. Private burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Hampton Falls.
