Angelo Fatello
DANVERS, Mass. - Angelo Fatello, 72, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, after a sudden illness.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was the recipient of the Bronze Star, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Korean War Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the United Nations Medal and the Korean War Medal.
He was a retired meat cutter and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The widower of Dorothy Fatello, he is survived by one brother, Bruno of Beverly, Mass.; one sister, Anna of Lynnfield, Mass.; two sisters-in-law, Eva and Pearl, both of Beverly; one brother-in-law, Russ of Beverly; and many nieces and nephews, including Ralph and Cory Fatello, both of Hampton.
He was predeceased by one brother, Gus Fatello.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, Danvers.
Arrangements are by Lyon’s Funeral Home, Danvers.
E. Patricia Gary
LEE - E. Patricia Gary, 64, of 10 Decato Drive, died Nov. 12, 2002, at her home.
She was born Oct. 6, 1938, in New York City, the daughter of Richard and Edith Gordon. She was raised on Long Island and had resided in Lee for 32 years.
She was a graduate of Hofstra University, Hempstead, N.Y.
Mrs. Gary practiced real estate for more than 25 years in the Durham area and owned and operated Prudential Gary Real Estate since 1989.
She was active with the Strafford County Board of Realtors and did volunteer work with the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Ron Gary of Lee; two stepchildren, Guy Gary of San Diego, Calif., and Stacia Groen of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two grandchildren; one brother, Alan Gordon of Dover; one sister, Barbara MacDonald of Toledo, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday in the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, Newmarket, with Larry Brickner-Wood officiating. Burial was in Lee Hill Cemetery, Lee.

Phyllis I. Hartford
RAYMOND - Phyllis Irene Hartford, 69, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, in Exeter Hospital.
She was born June 8, 1933, in Raymond, the daughter of Edward and Florence (Young) Wallace and was a lifelong resident of Raymond.
Mrs. Hartford was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and was involved in community affairs in Raymond.
She enjoyed crafts and shopping.
The widow of John Hartford, who died in 1990, she is survived by one son, Ricky J. Hartford of Manchester; three daughters, Darlene Smart of Epping, Marianne Welch of Hampton Beach and Wanda Marcotte of Epping; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Fred Wallace of Fremont, Roland Wallace of Raymond and Francis Wallace of Florida; one sister, Evelyn Wright of Raymond; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There are no calling hours.
After cremation, graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the New Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond.

Dharani Ishaya
HAMPTON - Dharani Ishaya, 54, of 7 Emerald Lane, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at her home.
She was born Sept. 4, 1948, in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Robert J. and Kathryn (Bowers) Penney of Casper, Wyo. She was raised in Casper and had resided in Washington state before coming to Hampton three years ago.
She attended the University of Wyoming.
Mrs. Ishaya was a nanny for the Indelicato family in Hampton. She had previously been a medical transcriptionist for the University of Washington.
In addition her parents, she is survived by her husband, Balarama Ishaya of Hampton; and two brothers, George R. Penney of Eagle, Idaho, and Michael L. Penney of Edwards, Wash.
She was predeceased by one sister, Susan C. Penney-Porter.
Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Charles E. Serveiss Sr.
HAMPTON FALLS - Charles E. Serveiss Sr., 48, of 27 Victoria Drive, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, in Exeter Hospital.
He was born Aug. 11, 1954, in Oceanside, N.Y., the son of Ludvina (Backauskas) "Lee" Serveiss of Colorado Springs, Colo., and the late John T. Serveiss. He had resided in Hampton Falls for 8 years coming from Stratham.
He was a graduate of Maria Regina High School in New York and the University of New Haven in Connecticut.
Mr. Serveiss was a mechanical engineer in the aircraft engine division in the Riverworks Plant of General Electric Corp., Lynn, Mass., for 21 years.
He was a communicant of Our lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton; was active as a coach with the Hampton Youth Association Little League. He enjoyed being the sports announcer for the St. Thomas Aquinas High School hockey team and was a former treasurer of the Elfun Society, a charitable organization affiliated with the General Electric Corp.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by wife of 21 years, Marie A. (Sano) Serveiss of Hampton Falls; two sons, Charles E. Serveiss II and Kurt R. Serveiss, both of Hampton Falls; one brother, Gregory J. Serveiss of Monument, Colo.; one sister, Mary Lee Martens of Cortland, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews and aunts.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton.
Memorial donations may be made for the benefit of students of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, 197 Dover Point Road, Dover, NH 03820.

Catherine H. Bateman
NEWMARKET - Catherine H. "Sissy" Bateman, 65, of North Main Street, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at her daughter’s home in Dover.
She was born Nov. 28, 1936, in Newmarket the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Dziedzic) Zwiercan and was a lifelong resident of Newmarket.
Mrs. Bateman was an inspector with Osram Sylvania in Exeter for 36 years.
She was a communicant of St. Mary Church and was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the American Citizens Club of Polish Descent.
She enjoyed cooking.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, May Ann and George Woodard of Dover, and Katherine and David Guay of Newmarket; four grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Evans of Newfields; two brothers, Joseph "Sonny" Zwiercan of Arizona and Robert Zwiercan of Exeter; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday in St. Mary Church, Newmarket. Graveside services were in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.

Kenneth W. Langley
EXETER - Kenneth Wheeler Langley, 91, of Hampton Road, formerly of Mill Road, Hampton, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at Langdon Place of Exeter.
He was born March 12, 1911, at the Langley Hotel in Hampton Beach, the son of the late Edmund and Mildred (Nutt) Langley.
Mr. Langley was the owner-operator of the Tides, Meadowbrook Motor Inn, Spindrift, and the Concord Coach.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Hampton for 74 years; a member of Star of the East Shriners (Scottish York) for 53 years; the Portsmouth Yacht Club; and was a charter member of the William Pitt Tavern Lodge No. 1789.
He was an avid skier, sailor and golfer.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Pauline "Polly" (Pennock) Langley of Exeter; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Suzanne Langley of Exeter, Gail and Ray Donald of East Kingston and Karen and Donavon Current of Hampton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Alice Langley of Rye and Margery Langley of Newburyport, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Elbert, Edmund and Donald Langley, and one sister, Irene Teague.
Funeral services were held Sunday in the First Congregational Church of Hampton. Burial will be held at a later date.

Theodore J. Sheffert
HAMPTON - Theodore J. Sheffert, 66, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at his home.
He was born Nov. 16, 1936, in Englewood, N.J., the son of the late Charles G. and Mary (Wilkingson) Sheffert.
Mr. Sheffert was a customer service agent for TWA in the air freight department.
He is survived by his wife, Sonia P. Sheffert of Hampton; two sons, Kenneth W. Sheffert and Craig J. Sheffert, both of Hampton; one daughter, Barbara S. Halbert of Decatur, Ga.; three grandchildren; one brother, Clement W. Sheffert of New Haven, Vt.; one sister, Cynthia Hart of Hilton Head, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services were held in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Alice Thurlow
NEWBURYPORT, Mass. - Alice "Brownie" (Knowles) Thurlow, 93, of 5 Forrester St., died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at Port Healthcare, Newburyport.
She was born July 9, 1909, in Seabrook, the last surviving of 12 children of the late Dana and Ana (Fowler) Knowles.
Mrs.. Thurlow worked for Chase Shawmut, Towle Manufacturing and Bloomfield Shoe.
She was a longtime member of Belleville Congregational Church; the Golden Age Club; and the American Legion Auxiliary of Seabrook.
She was an avid card player, especially cribbage, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and rug braiding.
She is survived by one son and his wife, Wallace W. and Helena G. Thurlow of Newburyport; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There are no calling hours.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Belleville Cemetery, Storey Avenue, Newburyport.
