Raymond O. Belanger
EXETER - Raymond O. Belanger Sr., 76, of Watson Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at SunBridge Rehabilitation Center in Exeter.
He was born Nov. 7, 1925, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of the late Leo and Blanche (Marchand) Belanger Sr. He had resided in Amesbury, Mass., for many years and in Exeter for 15 years.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Belanger retired from AT&T in North Andover, Mass., after many years of service.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Amesbury.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Claire (Emond) Belanger of Exeter; two sons, Richard A. Belanger of Kensington and Barry J. Belanger of Groveland, Mass.; two daughters, Dianne E. Beamish of Berwick, Maine, and Debora E. Marsolais of Hampton; eight grandchildren; one brother, Gerard Belanger of Wilmington, N.C.; one sister, Marion Hanshaw of Amesbury; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sons, Raymond O. Belanger Jr. and Stephen Belanger; and two brothers, Leo Belanger Jr. and Roland Belanger.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Front Street, Exeter. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amesbury.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rockingham VNA & Hospice, 137 Epping Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Charles C. Cheney
SEABROOK - Charles C. Cheney, 89, formerly of Seabrook, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at Country Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Newburyport, Mass.
He was born April 11, 1913, in Antrim, the son of the late William F. and Harriette B. (Cheney) Chute. He had resided in Seabrook since 1985 coming from Merrimack and Keene.
He was a 1932 graduate of Peterborough High School.
Mr. Cheney was a poultry technician for the former Cobbs Pedigree Chicks, Inc., now owned by the Upjohn Co., retiring in 1980 after 23 years of service. He had previously worked for Elm City Grain in Keene and the Merrimack Farmers Exchange in Concord.
He attended Hampton Falls Baptist Church. He was a member of First Congregational Church of Merrimack and was the former assistant treasurer of the Prudential Committee of the church. He was a former member and president of the Merrimack Senior Citizens.
The widower of Jennie M. (Goodwin) Cheney, who died in 1999, he is survived by two sons, Charles E. Cheney of West Warwick, R.I., and Terry F. Cheney of Attleboro, Mass.; two daughters, Priscilla E. Casassa of Seabrook and Dorothy R. White of Tiverton, R.I.; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one brother, Edward Schroeder.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in First Baptist Church of Hampton Falls. Burial will be in Greenvale Cemetery, Greenfield.

Myrtle H. Gourley
WORLEY, Idaho - Myrtle Helen Gourley, 85, formerly of Exeter, died Oct. 27, 2002, at her home.
She was born July 6, 1917, in Fitchburg, Mass., the daughter of Karl R. and Helen S. (Gross) Schneider. She had resided in Exeter and Kensington for many years and following retirement lived in Las Vegas, and Tucson and Green Valley, Ariz., before moving to Worley.
She was a 1934 graduate of Fitchburg High School and a graduate of Framingham Teachers College.
She served as a Coast Guard Spar during World War II.
Mrs. Gourley taught household arts at Hudson (Mass.) High School.
She was active with the Kensington Congregational Church for many years. She was an avid reader and wrote poetry, stories and several operettas. She enjoyed music, especially singing, and collected stamps, coins, rocks and books. She had an interest in astronomy and traveled the continental United States, Canada, Mexico and parts of Europe.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Horace M. Gourley of Worley; two daughters, Merrilyn Reeves of Plummer, Idaho, and Diana Spiller of Ashby, Mass.; three sons, Phillip Gourley of Hudson, Stephen Gourley of Burlington, Vt., and Michael Gourley of Northwood; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Koehler of Las Vegas.
She was predeceased by one brother, Robert Schneider.
Memorial services were held Nov. 2 at Christian Life Fellowship in Plummer.
June M. Keefe
SEABROOK - June M. Keefe, 80, of 32 Riley Road, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at her home.
She was born Feb. 20, 1922, in Beverly, Mass., the daughter of the late Jacob C. and Augusta (Pleidrup) Jorgensen. She resided in Wenham, Mass., before moving to Seabrook 22 years ago.
She attended Beverly High School and later attended the former Stoneleigh College in Rye.
Mrs. Keefe was a mutuel clerk at Seabrook Greyhound Park for 22 years. She had previously owned and operated Keefe’s Variety Store in North Beverly from 1955 until 1961, and later worked as a private secretary at the Pingree School for Girls in South Hamilton, Mass., for 15 years.
The widow of Francis N. Keefe, who died in 1993, she is survived by three daughters, Anne Keefe Wiltse of Weston, Conn., Karen K. Luxton of Seabrook and Suzy Keefe Allen of Dover; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Wenham Cemetery.

Arthur R. LaMontagne
HAMPTON BEACH - Arthur R. LaMontagne, 77, of 15 P St., died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, in Exeter Hospital.
He was born Jan. 5, 1925, in Pembroke, the son of Hector V. "Vic" and Alzema (Thibedeau) LaMontagne. He had resided at Hampton Beach since the mid-1940s and wintered in Kissimmee, Fla., for 15 years.
He attended Manchester Central High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. LaMontagne built the Blue Jay Motel at Hampton Beach in 1950, which he operated with his wife for 34 years before passing the business on to their daughter. He served as a call fireman for the Hampton Beach Fire Department for 25 years.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and a charter member of the Holy Name Society.
He was a 35-year member of the Portsmouth Country Club; a 57-year member of the Hampton American Legion Post No. 35; a charter member of the World War II National Memorial Foundation; and a 14-year member of the Kissimmee Lodge of Elks.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diana D. (Gagne) LaMontagne of Hampton Beach; three sons, Arthur F. "Skip" LaMontagne of Exeter, Eric A. LaMontagne of Raymond and Michael J. LaMontagne of Berwick, Maine; one daughter, Mary LaMontagne of Hampton Beach; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Col. Edward J. LaMontagne of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews
He was predeceased by one grandson, Christian E. LaMontagne; one brother; and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton.

Clara A. McCusker
RAYMOND - Clara A. McCusker, 87, of Cote Circle, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at Seacoast Health Center, Hampton, after a period of failing health.
She was born Dec. 20, 1914, in Malden, Mass., the daughter of the late Gifford T. and Mary (O’Brien) Melanson. She had resided Epping and Plaistow before moving to Raymond in 1977.
Mrs. McCusker was a machine operator with Western Electric and AT&T in North Andover, Mass., and had previously worked many years at Arkelian Shoe Co. in Haverhill, Mass.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, quilting and dancing.
The widow of Thomas L. McCusker Sr., she is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Susan and Raymond Duquette of Hampstead, Patricia and Daniel McKay of Fremont and Margaret Cotter of Sharon; five sons and their wives, Thomas and Carol McCusker of Bristol, Edward and Dorothy McCusker of Epping, Leo and Dorothy McCusker of Raymond, James and Joanne McCusker of Bristol and Patrick and Angela McCusker of Newton; 30 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mae Black of Braintree, Mass., and Florence McCusker of Kingston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one daughter, Mary Call.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Route 27, Epping. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Epping.

Mona L. Nason
HAMPTON FALLS - Mona L. (Thayer) Nason, 55, of Exeter Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, after a lengthy illness.
She was born May 29, 1947, in Chelmsford, Mass., the daughter of the late Howard A. and Bertha (Gauthier) Thayer. She was raised in Goffstown and had resided in Manchester before moving to Hampton Falls 26 years ago.
She was a graduate of Goffstown High School and was a 1969 graduate of Merrimack College with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry.
Mrs. Nason was the administrative assistant for Dr. Dibble’s Medical Practice in Kingston for eight years.
She served on the Hampton Falls School Board and the Winnacunnet School Board.
She was an avid tennis player and was a former member of the Great Bay Tennis Club.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Paul A. Nason of Hampton Falls; three sons and their wives, Stephen and Elizabeth Nason of North Berwick, Maine, Peter and Lori Nason of Exeter and Philip and Sridevi Nason of Hampton Falls; one granddaughter; one brother, Earl Thayer of Weare; and several nieces and nephews.
A time of remembrance will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Front Street, Exeter.

Roland N. Neves
NORTH HAMPTON - Roland N. Neves, 72, of 10 Meadowfox Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
He was born Dec. 25, 1929, in Cambridge, Mass., the son of the late John and Debora (Couto) Neves and had resided in North Hampton for nine years, coming from Goffstown.
He was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean conflict.
Mr. Neves was the founder and president of Hygienic Technologies, a wholesale distributor of building maintenance supplies.
He was politically active for many years with the Republican party on a local, state and national level. He worked on three of Sen. Bob Smith’s campaigns and Craig Benson’s campaign for governor. While in Massachusetts, he worked on the senatorial campaigns of Brooks, Volpe and Richardson.
He was chairman and founder of the North Hampton Forever Committee and was the first president of the North Hampton Businessmen’s Association. He was a former member of the North Hampton Conservation Committee and the North Hampton Planning Board.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Margaret F. (Mulleague) Neves of North Hampton; one son, Michael S. Neves of Mendham, N.J.; two daughters, Deborah Talbott of Gorham, Maine, and Elizabeth Whittier of Taylor, Ariz; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.

Phyllis L. Baker
EAST KINGSTON - Memorial services for Phyllis Louise Baker will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. in East Kingston Community United Methodist Church, Depot Road, East Kingston.
Mrs. Baker, 79, of 69 Haverhill Road, died Oct. 1, 2002 at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood.
