Francis E. Jacques
HAMPTON - Francis E. Jacques, 84, died Monday, June 24, 2002, in Exeter Hospital following a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Cecile M. (LaChance) Jacques, who died in 1998 and is survived by one daughter and her husband, Lorraine M. and Robert King of Hampton; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Burial will be in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.

Janice T. Jordan
EXETER - Janice (Trombla) Jordan, 79, of 16 Meadowood Drive, died Friday, June 21, 2002, at Seacoast Health Center, Hampton.
She was born Sept. 6, 1922, in Paducah, Ky., the daughter of the late J. Edward and Zelpha L. (Haynes) Trombla. She lived most of her life in Amesbury, Mass., coming to Exeter in 1984 where she was a resident of Sherwood Forest and 277 Water St.
She was a 1941 graduate of Amesbury High School and attended Essex Agricultural Institute.
Mrs. Jordan was a homemaker and devoted to her family.
She was a member of Main Street Congregational Church, Amesbury, for more than 60 years and was active in the church Social Circle and a Girl Scout leader.
The widow of Edwin F. Jordan, who died in 1984, she is survived by one daughter and her husband, Judith A. and Robert Deshaies of Exeter; one son and his wife, Edward F. and Denise Jordan of Salisbury, Mass.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Alison Bernard of Dracut, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private graveside services will be held in Village Cemetery, Kensington, at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Hollis J. Leary
HAMPTON BEACH - Hollis J. Leary, 89, of 33 Highland Ave., died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at his home.
He was born Dec. 4, 1912, in Boston, the son of the late Jeremiah and Agnes (Gately) Leary. He was raised in Boston and Derry, and had resided in Charlestown, Mass., before retiring to Hampton 30 years ago.
Mr. Leary was a retired from the Boston Fire Department after more than 30 years of service.
He was the secretary of the Russell Club, Boston, which preceded the Firemens's Union.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church.
Mr. Leary was very active in Hampton politics, serving on many town committees.
The widower of Rita C. (O'Brien) Leary, his wife of 58 years, he is survived by three daughters, Fern Cammarata of Arizona, Deborah Wilson of Hampton Beach and Pat Griffin of Florida; one son, Conan Leary of California; 23 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one son, Hollis J. Leary Jr.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date.
Donna R. Michael
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - Donna R. (Moulton) Michael, 51, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Hampton, died Thursday, June 20, 2002, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Portsmouth.
She was born Sept. 4, 1950, in Exeter, the daughter of Walter L. Moulton of Exeter and the late Sylvia H. (Brown) Moulton. She was raised in Epping and had lived in Oklahoma City since 1993 moving there from South Dakota.
Mrs. Michael was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Timothy J. Michael of Oklahoma City; one daughter and her husband, Christine M. and Lee Pitchford of Alaska; five grandchildren; two brothers, Walter L. Moulton Jr. of Tehachapi, Calif., and Peter J. Moulton of Hampton; three sisters, Wanda L. Brower of North Smithfield, R.I., Sue Valiquet of Hampton and Kimberly Moulton of Bedford; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services were held Monday in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Jeannette Towle
FREMONT - Jeannette Benedict Washburn Towle, 83, of Main Street, died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, after a period of failing health.
She was born May 18, 1919, in Danbury, Conn., the daughter of the late Benjamin H. and Ethel C. (Morgan) Washburn and was a long time resident of Fremont.
Mrs. Towle was a registered nurse at Exeter Hospital for many years.
She is survived by her husband, George W. Towle of Fremont; two daughters, Joyce Lacombe of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Nancy Lacombe of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and one brother, Allen Washburn of Bellvue, Colo.
There are no calling hours.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, Fremont.

Patricia White
KINGSTON - Patricia (Leonard) White, 64, of 29 Mill Road, died Friday, June 21, 2002, in Exeter Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 11, 1937, in Springfield, Mass., the daughter of Marjorie (Armstrong) Leonard of Wilmington, Mass., and the late Clarence Leonard.
Mrs. White was employed by AT&T in North Andover, Mass., retiring after 25 years of service.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her partner of 22 years, Gilbert Lamothe of Kingston; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Wendall Irvine officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Kingston.
Daniel P. de Sousa
JAY, Maine - Daniel P. de Sousa, 32, died June 11, 2002, at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 28, 1970, in Exeter, the son of Jordan and Diane de Sousa of Brentwood.
After high school graduation he worked as an apprentice plumber and later founded his own business, Car Stereo Installations, in Fort Worth, Texas, before moving to Maine.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of seven years, Lori (Cronkhite) de Sousa; two brothers, Peter and Richard de Sousa of Fort Worth; two sisters, Kelly Riggle and Carrie Coulter of Georgetown, Ind.; and 14 nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service celebrating his life was held June 15 at the Wiles Funeral Home, Jay, with the Rev. Eva Thompson officiating.
Joan B. Howe
NORTH HAMPTON - Joan B. Howe, 80, of 168 Lafayette Road, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
She was born May 22, 1922, in Orleans, Vt., the daughter of the late Raymond and Armande (Alix) Beauregard. She was raised in Vermont and had resided in Portsmouth before moving to North Hampton in 1961.
Mrs. Howe was a sales clerk for the former Grant's Department Store and Foye's Men Shop in Portsmouth.
She was a communicant of St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 140 in Portsmouth.
She enjoyed writing letters and traveling.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Arthur R. Howe; two brothers, John P. Beauregard of Portsmouth and Robert Beauregard of Eliot, Maine; three sisters, Loretta Goodreau of Portsmouth, Lillian Duchaine of Rye and Lucille O'Neill of Honesdale, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Grace and Norma; and one brother, Richard.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, North Hampton.

Francis E. Jacques
HAMPTON - Francis E. Jacques, 84, died Monday, June 24, 2002, in Exeter Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born March 13, 1918, in Waterville, Maine, the son of the late Leonard and Marie (Pepin) Jacques, and came to Hampton in 1952.
He was a graduate of Haverhill (Mass.) High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Jacques purchased the Springfield Hotel in 1952. Over the years he owned several businesses in the area including the Sand Motel, Cecil's Gift Shop and several restaurants. He also owned Jacques Real Estate and built many homes and cottages on the Seacoast. He had previously owned Franro Furniture Store in Haverhill with his late brother.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and a member of the Holy Name Society.
He enjoyed playing the organ, listening to classical music and owned and restored classic cars.
The widower of Cecile M. (LaChance) Jacques, who died in 1998, and is survived by one daughter and her husband, Lorraine M. and Robert King of Hampton; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
He was predeceased by one son, Reginald Jacques, who died in 2001; one brother, Roland Jacques; and one sister, Lietta Wholley.

Madelyn H. Walker
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Madelyn H. Walker, 88, formerly of Exeter, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002.
Mrs. Walker was the retired deputy treasurer of Rockingham County.
She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie W. Clapp and her husband Robert of Fort Lauderdale and Marcia MacDougall of Exeter; one son and his wife, Paul and Karen Walker of Exeter; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one son-in-law, John MacDougall.

Arthur D. Arakelian
NORTH HAMPTON - Arthur D. "Butch" Arakelian, 58, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at his home.
He was born Feb. 27, 1944, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of Elizabeth (Chilpyian) Arakelian of Haverhill, Mass. and the late Sarkes Arakelian.
He was a 1963 graduate of Haverhill High School.
Mr. Arakelian owned the Riverview Drive-In Movie Theater and the 495 Cinema, both of Haverhill, the Hy-Way Movie Theater and the 95 Cinema of Salisbury, Mass. He was the owner and operator of the former Cobblestones Restaurant (now Sylvan Street Restaurant) in Salisbury and of A&A Construction in Haverhill.
Through Arakelian Associates he helped sponsor the Haverhill Gazette Santa Claus Fund to help needy children.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mary L. (Stanchis) Arakelian; one son and his wife, Bruce D. and Jyll Arakelian of Salem; one stepson, Roy J. Goudreault of Haverhill; two granddaughters; one brother, Harry Arakelian of Haverhill; and one niece and nephew.
Funeral services were held Monday in St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church, Haverhill. Burial was in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
Memorial donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115.
