Frederick E. Olsen Jr.
WAUKESHA, Wis. - Frederick Edward Olsen Jr., 50, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 23, 2002, at his home.
He was born Oct. 21, 1951, in Bangor, Maine, the son of Frederick and Virginia (Crawford) Olsen.
He was a 1971 graduate of Brewer (Maine) High School. In his senior year he was a member of the All State Football Team, ranked fifth in the nation.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1971 until 1975 and was an Eagle Scout.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sons, Fred and Jeff Olsen of Maine and Daniel Olsen of Texas; one daughter Tonya Olsen of Texas; his companion, Darlene Harrison; two brothers, Mike Olsen of Brewer and Jeff Olsen of Stratham; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday in Milwaukee, Wis. Burial will be Wednesday in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are by the Kiley Funeral Home, Bangor.
Pauline L. Sterry
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Pauline Louise Sterry, 71, died Friday, May 24, 2002, in Coral Springs Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 31, 1930, in Exeter, the daughter of the late Melvin and Dorothy (Wilson) Moore and had resided in Hampton for 20 years.
She was a 1948 graduate of Hampton Academy where she was a member of the drama club, the varsity basketball team, the cheerleading group and the drum majorette corps.
Mrs. Sterry donated many hours to the Habilitation Center for the Handicapped in Boca Raton, Fla.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Arthur F. Sterry; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Steven and Patricia Sterry of Lockport, N.Y., Scott and Judith Sterry of Webster, N.Y., Barry and Heather of Sterry of Beaconsfield, England, and Christopher Sterry of Coral Springs; and four grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one brother, Arnold Moore.

Peter S. Thomas
KENNEBUNK, Maine - Peter S. Thomas, 67, of Lockwood Drive died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, in Southern Maine Medical Center, Biddeford, Maine.
He was born June 7, 1934, in Portland, Maine, the son of Edward T. and Pauline (Sullivan) Thomas. He resided in South Hamilton, Mass., for many years moving to Kennebunk in 1989.
He was a 1951 graduate of Berlin (N.H.) High School and received his bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the University of New Hampshire in 1955.
Mr. Thomas worked at the Brown Paper Co. in Berlin and as a chemical sales representative for General Electric, Dupont Chemical, Thiokol and Morton Co., and General Alum & Chemical Corp., where he worked for several years, retiring in 1999.
He was a communicant of St. Mary Church, Wells, Maine.
He was a member of the Chemical Club of New England and the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Berlin.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, bicycling and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lorraine (Lessard) Thomas of Kennebunk; two sons, Mark S. Thomas, M.D., of Fayetteville, Ark., and Matthew E. Thomas of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Anne Marie Varney of Hampton and Eileen Tidd of Casco, Maine; 12 grandchildren; and one brother, Timothy E. Thomas of Attleboro, Mass.
He was predeceased by one son, Daniel P. Thomas, who died in 1998; and one sister, Patricia Pensoneault, who died in 1997.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday in St. Mary Church with the Rev. Joseph Ford as celebrant. Burial was in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk.
Arrangements were by the Bibber Memorial Chapel, Kennebunk.
M. Thomas Ball
MILFORD, Conn. - M. Thomas Ball, 87, of East Broadway, formerly of Exeter, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford, after a lengthy illness.
He was born May 15, 1915, in New York City, the son of the late Mark T. Sr. and Mary (Cherry) Ball.
Mr. Ball retired as a supervisor at Bridgeport Brass after more than 40 years of service, 10 of which were as plant manager at Exeter Brass in Exeter.
He was a communicant of St. Gabriel Church, Milford, where he supported the St. Gabriel School Scholarship Fund.
He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Exeter and was a coach and past president of the Exeter Little League, where he was instrumental in the establishment of Currier Field.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice (Staneika) Ball; one son and his wife, Mark T. and Linda Ball of New Castle; one daughter and her husband, Carol Ann and Andrew Christie of Hampton Falls; and two grandsons.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Ball and Jack Ball.
There are no calling hours.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in St. Gabriel Church, Milford.

Therese F. Bosse
HAMPTON - Therese F. Bosse, 86, of 6 Colby St., died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Exeter Healthcare after a period of failing health.
She was born March 19, 1916, the daughter of Joseph and Leonie (Lapointe) Faucher. She was raised in Somersworth and moved to Hampton in 1965.
She was a graduate of Somersworth High School.
Mrs. Bosse was a bank teller with Somersworth Bank, the Exeter Bank and Hampton National Bank. She was employed for a while with Dumais Brothers of Somersworth.
She was a former member of the Ladies Guild at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton.
The widow of Laurent D. Bosse, who died in 1990, she is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Jeanne and James Lundell of Haverhill, Mass., and Claire and Stephen Mattin of Kensington; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Gerard Faucher and George Faucher, both of Somersworth.
She was predeceased by two brothers, the Rev. Robert Faucher and Roland Faucher.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Bernier Funeral Home, 49 South St., Somersworth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Martin Church, West High Street, Somersworth, with the Rev. Aaron Pfaff, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth.

Alison W. Burritt
EXETER - Alison W. Burritt, 88, died May 27, 2002, at the Lodge at RiverWoods.
Memorial services for Mrs. Burritt will be held Sunday, June 23, at 1 p.m. in the Great Bay Room at RiverWoods of Exeter.

Barbara D. McComish
SEABROOK BEACH - Barbara D. McComish, 75, of 165 Tilton St., died Thursday, June 13, 2002, in Exeter Hospital.
She was born Oct. 11, 1926, Lawrence, Mass., the daughter of the late Albert D. and Winifred F. (Merchant) Fielden. She had resided in Seabrook Beach since 1963, coming from Methuen, Mass.
She was a 1945 graduate of the Edward F. Searles High School in Methuen and from MacIntosh Business School in Lawrence.
Mrs. McComish was a clerk at the former Glover's Pharmacy in Lawrence for 15 years.
She was a former member of First Calvary Baptist Church, Lawrence.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Alexander B. McComish; one stepson and his wife, John and Sheila DeSimone of Plaistow; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one aunt, Eva Merchant; and three cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
Raymond W. Sargent
CONWAY - Raymond Walter Sargent, 66, died Saturday, June 15, 2002, after a brief illness.
He was born in Exeter and was a graduate of Exeter High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, achieving the rank of sergeant.
Mr. Sargent was a master carpenter and worked with his brother, Warren Sargent, building many houses in New Hampshire. He also worked for Duprey Construction for 10 years and for Currier Construction Co., retiring in 1999.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, boating, reading and solving crossword puzzles.
The widower of Nancy Sargent, who died in 1988, he is survived by two sons and their wives, Rev. David and Meg Sargent of Tuftonboro and Gary and Brooks Sargent of Silver Lake; two daughters, Rayline Williams and her husband Ken of Pembroke and Heather Sargent and Dennis Coughlin of North Conway; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, John Sargent of Kensington; one sister, Corrine Robinson of Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Warren Sargent and George Bishop.
There are no calling hours.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Village Cemetery, Kensington, Route 150, Kensington, with his son, the Rev. David Sargent, officiating.

Cleone D. Griswold
NAPLES, Fla. - Cleone Diane (Oostdyke) "Gigi" Griswold, 88, of Gulf Shore Blvd., died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at her daughter's home in Avon, Conn.
She was born May 25, 1914, in Grand Rapids, Mich., the daughter of the late Arnold and Marion "May" (Edison) Oostdyke and had lived in Ware, Mass., and Bethlehem, Pa., before to moving to Naples eight years ago.
She was a lieutenant in the Massachusetts Women's Defense Corps during World War II.
Mrs. Griswold was a nurses' aid at Mary Lane Hospital, Ware.
She was a member of the Royal Poinciana Country Club, Naples; a past president of the Ware Social Science Club; a director of the Northampton Children's Aid Society; and a member of the Lehigh Country Club and Saucon Valley Country Club, both in Pennsylvania. In 1978 she and a co-chairman initiated the Cancer Boutique in Bethlehem, which continues to raise money for cancer research and was on the board of the Mental Health Association in Allentown, Pa.
She was an avid bridge player, swimmer and golfer.
The widow of Frank B. Griswold, she is survived by four children, Neill W. Schoonmaker Jr. of Gilbertville, Mass., Cleone S. Priest of Avon, Conn., Diane Osgood of Hollidaysburg, Pa., and Barry Griswold of Allentown; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard Edison of Exeter.
She was predeceased by one granddaughter, Deborah Schoonmaker.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 29, at 11 a.m. in the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton, Conn.
