Lex O. McMillan Jr.
CONWAY, Ariz. - Lex Oran McMillan Jr., 78, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at his home after a two-year battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 19, 1923, in Marshall, Texas, the son of the late Lex O. and Eulalie (Attaway) McMillan. He had resided in Newark, Del., and Atlanta, Ga., before moving to Conway.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II serving with the Second Marine Air Wing, VMF 312 in the South Pacific.
He attended the University of Oklahoma majoring in petroleum engineering.
Mr. McMillan was an independent manufacturers' representative doing business as McMillan Sales Inc. He had previously been employed in various sales capacities and had been the mid-Atlantic sales representative for GC Electronics of Rockville, Ill.
He was an active communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Atlanta, St. Thomas More Church in Decatur, Ga., and St. Mary Church in Wilmington, Del.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Louise (Dillard) McMillan; four children, Bonnie L. Brown of Brentwood, Lex O. McMillan III of Gettysburg, Pa., John D. McMillan of Big Canoe, Ga., and Joseph D. McMillan of Conway; 11 grandchildren; one sister, Catherine Reynolds of El Dorado, Ariz.; and one brother, Howard L. McMillan of Edmond, Okla.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in West View Cemetery, 1680 West View Drive SW, Atlanta.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Home Care of Conway, 2225 Prince St., Conway, AR 72034.
Arrangements are by the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway.
Chester A. Mezinski
HAMPTON - Chester A. Mezinski, 80, of 1 Homestead Circle, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, in Exeter Hospital.
He was born April 18, 1922, in Muskegon, Mich., the son of the late Stephan and Anna (Domonic) Mezinski. He was raised in New Era, Mich., and had resided in Hampton since 1959.
He was a graduate of Shelby High School and was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II.
Mr. Mezinski was an electrician at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 18 years.
He is survived by his wife, Betty L. (Turner) Mezinski; one daughter, Sandra L. Conway of Groveland, Mass.; one granddaughter; and one sister, Josephine Kunesh of Boise, Idaho.
He was predeceased by one brother, Mitchell H. Mezinski.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Philip L. Reed
EXETER - Philip L. Reed, 60, of 11 Colonial Way, died Saturday, May 11, 2002, in Exeter Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Haverhill, Mass., and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Cushing Academy and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Mr. Reed co-founded AllVertical, Inc., an Internet-based business in Exeter. He had previously had a career in publishing.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a consummate hobbyist, an avid sportsman, reader and writer and collected American antiques.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Beverly (McCarthy) Reed; one daughter and her husband, Rebecca and Michael Fortin of Acushnet, Mass.; one grandson; one sister, Mary-Beth Lathrop of Plaistow; his parents-in-law, Cornelius and Patricia McCarthy of Exeter; several nieces and nephews; and one aunt.
He was predeceased by an infant son, Andrew Reed.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the Universalist Unitarian Church, 15 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill.

William S. Shepard
RAYMOND - William S. Shepard, 65, of Route 27, died Monday, May 13, 2002, in Exeter Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 31, 1936, in Manchester, the son of the late Samuel M. Shepard and Leona J. (Heath) Berry and was a lifelong resident of Raymond.
He was a graduate of Raymond High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran stationed in Amarillo, Texas.
Mr. Shepard was an auto mechanic at McFarland Ford in Exeter retiring in 1998 after 36 years of service to the Ford Motor Co.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and was an avid horse pulling enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Susan I. (Hatch) Shepard of Raymond; one daughter, Billie Jo Quintal of Raymond; two grandsons; and one brother, Phillip Shepard of Alstead.
Graveside services with military honors will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the New Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond, with the Rev. Neil Iverson, officiating.

Alice M. Smith
HAMPTON FALLS - Alice M. Smith, 91, formerly of Kensington Road, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, in Exeter Hospital.
She was born Feb. 24, 1911, in Hampton Falls, the daughter of the late Herbert and Abbie (Pevear) Currier and was a lifelong resident of Hampton Falls.
She was a 1930 graduate of Hampton Academy.
The widow of Clarence E. Smith, who died in 1975, she is survived by one son and his wife, Paul C. and Nellie Smith of Wakefield; two grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Calling hours will be held Friday at the funeral home from noon until the hour of the service. Burial will be in Nason Cemetery, Hampton Falls.
Carol A. Davis
EAST KINGSTON - Carol A. Davis, 55, of 23 Depot Road, died Monday, May 13, 2002, in Exeter Hospital.
She was born June 3, 1946, in Salem, Mass., the daughter of Vivian D. (Barnett) James of Peabody, Mass., and the late Robert H. James. She was raised in Peabody and had lived in East Kingston for most of her life.
She was a graduate of Veterans High School, Peabody, and Salem State College.
Mrs. Davis was a history and social studies teacher at Triton High School for 35 years and was very active with the school system.
She was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association; a trustee of the East Kingston Public Library; and was a very strong advocate for the organ donation program.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, reading and the ocean.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 32 years, James C. Davis of East Kingston; two daughters, Gretchen N. Noyes of Kingston and Jennifer E. Davis of East Kingston; two grandchildren; and one sister, Sandra E. Butler of Boscawen.
A celebration of her life will be held May 25 at 1 p.m. in the East Kingston Town Hall, Route 107, East Kingston. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Gary B. DeCell
BRENTWOOD - Gary B. DeCell, 37, of North Road, died Friday, May 17, 2002, in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, after a lengthy illness.
He was born Oct. 26, 1964, in Rutland, Vt., the son of the late Norman L. Sr. and Roselle B. (Generess) DeCell. He had resided in Worcester, Mass., for many years before moving to Brentwood two years ago.
He was a 1982 graduate of high school in Worcester and attended Central New England College in Worcester.
Mr. DeCell was an information consultant for Staples Corp. in Framingham, Mass., for three years.
He enjoyed computers, snowmobiling, weight lifting, jet skiing and boating.
He is survived by his wife of 1 1/2 years, Melinda A. Nordell of Brentwood; two brothers, Norman L. DeCell Jr. of Oxford, Mass., and Donald L. DeCell of Worcester; two sisters, Donna A. LaViolette of Worcester and Leah Giffin of Long Island, N.Y.; his paternal grandmother, Effie Gilmore of Southbridge, Mass., and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 11 to 1 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 87 Pleasant St., Epping.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Brentwood Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne VanGundy officiating.
Flowers are acceptable.
Kathleen L. Jenne
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Kathleen Lee Jenne of 6653 Telegraph Road, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at her home.
She was born in Los Angeles and had resided in Plaistow and Kingston.
She attended Wilkerson and El Monte High School.
Mrs. Jenne was a surgical nurse at Huntington Memorial Hospital and the West Covina Hospital in California. While living in this area, she was employed by the former Goodwin Nursing Home in Exeter and operated a pizza shop and cake design business in Kingston.
She attended First Baptist Church in Plaistow and was a member of the church choir and a member of the Plaistow Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a team mother of the South Hills Little League in West Covina.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Jenne of Las Vegas; one son, Robert of Indianapolis; one daughter, Robin of Reno, Nev.; and two granddaughters.

Frank A. McPhee
HAMPTON FALLS - Frank A. McPhee, 89, of 26 Drinkwater Road, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at the Inn of Deerfield.
He was born April 20, 1913, in South Boston, the son of the late George W. and Bertha A. (Hoeft) McPhee. He had resided in Lynn, Mass., moving to Hampton Falls in 1970.
Mr. McPhee was an instruction specialist in the turbine division of the General Electric Riverworks plant in Lynn retiring in 1978 after more than 50 years of service.
He attended First Baptist Church of Hampton Falls and was a former member of the church choir. He was a former active member of First Congregational Church, Lynn.
He was a member and treasurer of the Bethlehem Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Lynn for 40 years; a member of the Sutton Royal Arch Chapter RAM; Zebulun Council R & SM; the Olivet Commandery No. 36 KT; and Grand Encampment of Knights Templar.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marjorie L. (Bronsdon) McPhee; one son and his wife, Frank A. "Bud" Jr. and Sandy McPhee of West Nottingham; two daughters and their husbands, Nancy L. and Donald Sabins of Union, Maine and Lorraine B. and Richard Preece of Lafollette, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bertha Young of Centralia, Wash.
Services were held Monday in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, Hampton, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth G. Lawrence, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Hampton Falls, officiating.

Rae Capron
STRATHAM - Graveside services for Rae (Wiggin) Capron will be held Sunday, May 26, at 1 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery, (off Portsmouth Avenue) Stratham, with the Rev. Mark Strickland of Stratham Community Church officiating.
A reception will be held at the Fellowship Hall of Stratham Community Church following the committal service.
