Robert R. Hull
DURHAM - Robert Ridgely Hull, 87, of Mill Road, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at his home.
He was born Dec. 13, 1913, in Newark, N.J., the son of Walter B. and Alice (Sanders) Hull.
He was a graduate of Montclair (N.J.) High School and was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran serving during World War II.
Mr. Hull was employed by the Prudential Insurance Co., retiring after 44 years of service.
He was a charter member of American Legion Gibraltar Post No. 3256; a long time member of the Audubon Society of New Hampshire and many other conservation organizations; and was an active Boy Scout leader.
He was an avid birder and fly fisherman and a talented craftsman.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sheila Hull; one daughter, Susan Neilson of McLean, Va.; one stepdaughter, Julie Dewdney of Canterbury; three stepsons, Ron Dewdney of Putney, Vt., Peter Dewdney of Mercer, Maine, and Murray Dewdney of Meridan; and eight grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Kathleen (Riey) Hull, who died in 1968.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Community Church of Durham. Spring burial will be in Durham Cemetery.

Carroll B. Bishop
EPPING - Carroll Burton Bishop, 85, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Seacoast Health Center, Hampton.
He was born April 11, 1915, in Fremont, the son of the late Alonzo and Lillian (Fuller) Bishop. He was raised in Fremont and was a longtime resident of Epping.
Mr. Bishop served with the Conservation Civilian Corps camps as the first cook in 1933 and 1934, where he won a cross-country snow shoe race while serving in Berlin. After returning home he spent his earlier years as a foreman with Sorabella's Box Co. in Raymond. He owned a drywall business for several years and later served as chief of police in Epping. Nearing the age of retirement, he worked as a custodian at Epping Elementary School.
He enjoyed boxing and wrestling and was well known in Amesbury, Mass., in 1934-35 when he held the title there and remained undefeated through 1935.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ella (Porter) Bishop of Epping; two daughters, Grace Tucker and her husband Robert of Exeter and Julie Bishop of Epping; one son, Paul Bishop of Epping; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Perreault of Seabrook; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Nancy Carol Sargent; and two sisters, Etta Bishop and Evelyn Fortier; and four brothers, Chester, Herbert, Andrew and Sidney Bishop.
There are no calling hours. Spring burial will be in Village Cemetery, Fremont.

James A. Brady Jr.
EXETER - James A. Brady Jr., 80, of Chestnut Street, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, in Exeter Hospital.
He was born May 18, 1920, in Lima, Ohio, the son of the late James A. Sr. and Marie (Lawler) Brady. He was a longtime resident of Toledo, Ohio, and resided in Darien, Conn., for 10 years and in Exeter for 1 1/2 years.
He was a 1939 graduate of Lawrenceville (N.J.) High School and attended Cornell University, Ithica, N.Y.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Brady was a stock broker for Merrill Lynch and A.G. Edwards in Connecticut and Florida.
He was an avid fly fisherman and sports car enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret (Burge) Brady of Exeter; one son, James A. Brady III of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Nancy Ludlam of Ledyard, Conn.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family and memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Delphine C. Flanders
EXETER - Delphine C. Flanders, 86, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Seacoast Health Center, Hampton.
She was born June 30, 1914, in Ashland, the daughter of the late Patrick S. and Melina M. (Minnon) Dupuis and had resided in Exeter since 1950.
She was a 1932 graduate of Ashland High School.
Mrs. Flanders was a homemaker and was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed crafts and fly fishing.
The widow of Frank H. Flanders, who died in 1982, she is survived by two sons, David A. Flanders of Exeter and Frank Flanders Jr. of Brentwood; two daughters, Carol A. Henry of Exeter and Patricia H. Keller of Newmarket; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 2, at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Front Street, Exeter. Private burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery, Ashland.

Robert T. Gallagher
HAMPTON - Robert T. Gallagher, 75, of 22 Sanborn Road, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, in Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover.
He was born Oct. 30, 1925, in Peabody, Mass., the son of the late John J. and Mary T. (O'Neil) Gallagher. He had resided in California moving to Exeter in 1970 and to Hampton in 1984.
He was a graduate of the Pratt Institute of Technology Leather School in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He served with the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II, joining the U.S. Navy in 1945 serving as an aviation machinist's mate.
Mr. Gallagher worked for the A.C. Lawrence Leather Co. in Peabody for 20 years, retiring as division manager. He later worked for Prime Tanning of Berwick, Maine, for two years before becoming a leather industries consultant for various companies throughout country, including Chemtan of Exeter.
He enjoyed sailing and building model ships.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary E. (Creeden) Gallagher; two sons and their wives, Robert P. and Janet Gallagher of Beverly, Mass., and David J. and Maria Gallagher of Hampton Falls; two daughters, Eileen M. Gallagher and her husband Steven High of Los Angeles and Joan Gallagher of Exeter; two grandchildren; one brother, Daniel Gallagher of Ipswich, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

Frances E. Simonelli
HAMPTON - Frances E. Simonelli, 87, of 698 Lafayette Road, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, in Exeter Hospital.
She was born Jan. 5, 1914, in Everett, Mass., the daughter of the late Gissue and Angelina (Reppucci) Rizzo.
She was a graduate of Everett High School and attended Malden (Mass.) Business School.
Mrs. Simonelli was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Registry of Motor Vehicles for 15 years, retiring in 1982.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton, and a member of the church's Catholic Women's Club. She was a former member of St. Anthony Church, Everett.
The widow of Christopher Simonelli, who died in 1979, she is survived by one son, Michael J. Simonelli of Hampton; one daughter, Carole Campbell of Exeter; two grandchildren; one sister, Josephine Rizzo of Hampton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Salvatore, Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, 331 Main St., Everett. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, Mass.
Arthur E. Smith
NOTTINGHAM - Arthur E. Smith, 76, of Route 152, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, in Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover.
He was born Aug. 6, 1924, in Newmarket, the son of Arthur R. and Olivine (Pratte) Smith. He had resided in Colchester, Vt., and Newmarket, before moving to Nottingham in 1962.
He was a graduate of Newmarket High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Smith was a senior quality technician for IBM in Vermont from 1965 until his retirement in 1980. He was previously an electrician at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard from 1952 until 1965.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Epping.
The widower of Lillian (Plante) Smith, who died in 1985, he is survived by his fiancee, Alexandra R. Davis of Somersworth; one sister, Marguerite Keller of Newmarket; and one niece and nephew.
There will be no services.
Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army.

LeRoy C. Thayer
HAMPTON - LeRoy Charles "Charlie" Thayer, 68, of 450 High St., died Saturday, March 24, 2001, in Exeter Hospital.
He was born May 28, 1932, in Hamilton, Mass., the son of the late LeRoy C. and Sarah (Southwick) Thayer Arnold. He had resided in Salisbury, Mass., before moving to Hampton 30 years ago.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Thayer was a self-employed interior and exterior painter.
He served as a Representative to the New Hampshire General Court in the early 1990s representing Hampton and Hampton Falls. He served as a member of the Hampton Budget Committee and as a part time police officer.
He was a member of Hampton United Methodist Church; the Hamptons American Legion Post No. 35; and a former member of the Disabled American Veterans Piscataqua Chapter No. 4 of Newington.
He is survived by one son, William Thayer of Thailand and California; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Carol and Eric Durant of Hampton, Susan and Eric Eno of Exeter, Pamela Thayer of Newburyport, Mass., and Debra and Louis Unga of Mesa, Ariz.; his former wife of 30 years, Linda G. (Welsh) Thayer of Exeter; 12 grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Gosselin of Kingston, June Whitcomb of Hampton and Claire DeGrandpre of Freeport, Maine; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Hampton United Methodist Church, 525 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton, Mass.
