Janet E. Larson
LEE - Janet E. Larson, 43, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover, after a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer.
She was a 1976 graduate of Oyster River High School, a 1981 graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry and a bachelor of science degree in animal science. She received her masters degree in science education in 1992, and an applied animal science degree from the Thompson School in 1996.
She spent eight years serving with the U.S. Army as an NBC and ordnance officer with tours in Korea, Germany and Operation Desert Storm.
Miss Larson was a lab instructor at the Thompson School, a science and biology teacher at Newmarket High School and Northwood Middle School from 1993 until 2000.
She was very active in the raising and training of working border collies and established the Caora Con Kennels in 1968. She won a Dog World Award of Canine Distinction in 1973 with her first dog. In 1976 she was selected as the New Hampshire State delegate to the National 4-H conference in Chicago for her outstanding wins with her dog and sheep dog demonstrations at state fairs.
She published and edited Border Collie News from 1976 until 1994. During college she increased her research of the border collie and authored "The Versatile Border Collie" in 1985, which won her the Dog Writers Association of America Book of the Year in 1986. She revised the book in 1999 and it has been considered the last word by people in the border collie and dog world.
Her farm was the destination for people worldwide for sheep dog trials, herding clinics and private lessons.
She is survived by her parents, David and Lois Larson of Durham; two brothers, Bruce and Douglas; one sister, Lisa; and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held in June.

Bertha Piecuch
DOVER - Bertha Piecuch, 64, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Riverside Rest Home where she had resided for 30 years.
She was born Aug. 25, 1936, in Exeter, the daughter of John and Helen (Skwiersz) Piecuch and was raised in Durham.
Miss Piecuch enjoyed Polish music, dancing and her family.
She is survived by four sisters Julia Call of Brentwood, Sophie Pazdon, Anne Hogue and Alice Kruczek, all of Newmarket; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket.
A Funeral Prayer Service will be held at noon in the funeral home with the Rev. John Finnigan officiating. Spring burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.

Kevin K. King
RYE BEACH - A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 815 Central Road, Rye, for Kevin K. King, 87, of Straw's Point, who died Sunday, March 4, 2001, in Exeter Hospital.
George E. Pleadwell Jr.
EXETER - George E. Pleadwell Jr., 69, of 9 Crawford Ave., died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Manchester.
He was born Aug. 13, 1931, in Georgetown, Mass., the son of Dorothy L. (Chase) Pleadwell of Exeter and the late George E. Pleadwell Sr., and lived most of his life in Georgetown before moving to Haverhill, Mass. He had resided in Exeter since 1990.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving aboard the USS Worcester during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Pleadwell was a laborer in the construction business and had worked for several area general contractors.
He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a member of American Legion Post No. 211 of Georgetown.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Scott Pleadwell and Paul Pleadwell, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; one daughter, Lee A. Haley of Kingston; three grandchildren; one brother, Norman A. Pleadwell of Exeter; one sister, Faye A. Lord of Exeter; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Barbara A. Renner
NEWFIELDS - Barbara A. Renner, 79, of Railroad Avenue, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, in Exeter Hospital.
She was born Dec. 26, 1921, in Exeter, the daughter of Walter J. and Myra L. (Albee) Sewall and had resided in Newfields since 1958.
Mrs. Renner was a switchboard operator for New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. in Newmarket for many years.
She was a member of the Newmarket Senior Citizens; a former member of the Robert G. Durgin American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 67 of Newmarket and a coordinator with the Drum and Bugle Corps of the Boomer American Legion Post in Portsmouth.
She attended Christian Faith Church, Newfields, and was a member of Newmarket Community Church and the Fireside Forum.
She was active with the Newfields Youth Group and was a Cub Scout leader.
The widow of Justin "Skip" Renner, who died in 1991, she is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Elaine and David Williams and Cheryl A. and David Murray, all of Newfields; two sons, Walter J. Renner of Newfields and Richard A. Renner and his wife Mary of Middleton; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Merrill of Middleton, Thelma Brown of Dunnellon, Fla., and Joanne Stewart of Newmarket; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Cecile Bennett of Exeter.
Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Collinge officiating. Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Newmarket.

Grace N. Antell
BRENTWOOD - Grace Natalie Antell, 88, died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 30, 1912, in Boston, the daughter of Francis J. and Julia L. (Duggan) Goodwin and lived in West Roxbury, Wellesley, Newbury and Marstons Mills, Mass., before moving to Newmarket in 1993.
She was a graduate of the School of Practical Arts, Boston, and was trained by the staff of Yanamaka's as a specialist in Asian antiques and pearls.
Before the onset of World War II Mrs. Antell was recruited by Shreve, Crump & Lowe for its distinguished pearl department.
She was a trained singer and was a former member of the Choral Society of the West Roxbury Women's Club.
She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Newbury Garden Club.
The widow of Mathew Antell, who died in 1982, she is survived by two nephews, Clifford J. Ronan of San Marcos, Texas, and Francis G. Ronan of Durham; her niece and guardian, Dorothy L. Meneghin of Newmarket; and several grandnieces and nephews, great-grandnieces and nephews; and two special friends, Ronald Giroux of Newmarket and Elizabeth Weinhold of Langdon Place, Exeter.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Frances Goodwin Ronan and Helen Goodwin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Thomas More, 6 Madbury Road, Durham. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury, Mass.

Herbert E. Barrett Jr.
PORT ARTHUR, Tex. - Herbert Edward "Buster" Barrett Jr., 74, died Friday, March 9, 2001, at his home after a sudden illness.
He was born Oct. 18, 1926, the son of Thelma (Drake) Barrett of Rye, and the late Herbert E. Barrett.
He attended Portsmouth schools and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World war II serving as an officer in the Pacific Theatre.
Mr. Barrett joined the Merchant Marine and was the first graduate from the Mates program in 1968. As an Able Bodied Seaman he grew through the ranks retiring as a captain. His tenure in the Merchant Marine took him to virtually every port in the world. He had previously been a boiler tender for the Boston & Maine Railroad, a security officer at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and a diesel mechanic on the tugboats in Portsmouth.
He was a well-known chef from the Rockingham Hotel to Kennedy's Restaurant.
He enjoyed traveling and watching sports.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of more than 25 years, Dorothy Barrett of Port Arthur; one daughter and her husband, Linda and Wayne Baribeault of Farmington; two sons, Herbert E. Barrett III of Dover and Mike J. Barrett of Portsmouth; one stepdaughter, Valda Simon of Orange, Tex.; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Carol Kennedy of Rye; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Charlotte Nowaczyk Powers and Dolores Lovejoy.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.

Michael A. Dzenowagis
KENSINGTON - Michael A. Dzenowagis, 48, of Old Amesbury Road, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, in Exeter Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 2, 1952, in Brockton, Mass., the son of Claire (Skorzewski) Dzenowagis of Kensington and the late Alexander M. Dzenowagis, and resided most of his life in Kensington.
He was a 1970 graduate of Exeter High School.
Mr. Dzenowagis owned and operated DZ's Auto Body in Kensington for 15 years.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Michael A. Dzenowagis Jr. of Kensington and Timothy A. Dzenowagis of Brentwood; his maternal grandmother, Elsie Shore of Salisbury, Mass.; three sisters, Sheila Tracy of Bonita Springs, Fla., Melanie Ring of Fryeburg, Maine, and Melissa Dzenowagis of Kensington,; several nieces and nephews; and one uncle, Randall Shore of Salisbury, Mass.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter.

John M. Fiacaprile
PARRISH, Fla. - John M. Fiacaprile, 73, formerly of Exeter, died February 23, 2001, in Jacaranda Manor, St., Petersburg, Fla., after a lengthy illness.
He was born Oct. 23, 1927, in Lynn, Mass.
He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Lynn, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Fiacaprile retired from the General Electric Corp.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Fiacaprile; one daughter, Susan M. Powers of Exeter; two sons, Michael F. Konopka of Parrish and Gregrory S. Konopka of Hampton; five grandchildren; three sisters; two brothers; and 17 nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 2 in St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Palmetto, Fla.

Richard N. Platt Jr.
EXETER - Richard N. Platt Jr., 77, died March 3, 2001, at his daughter's home in Kittery, Maine.
He was a long-time resident of New Canaan and Wilton, Conn.
He attended Phillips Exeter Academy and the University of Pennsylvania where he was a member of the St. Elmo Club.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Platt spent most of his working life in international marketing in the book publishing field in New York City, Annapolis, Md., and abroad.
He traveled throughout the world and was active with the local Democratic Party.
The widower of Dorothy L. Platt, his wife of 51 years who died Nov. 12, 2000, he is survived by three daughters, Abigail Collinge of Kittery, Laura Lunardo of Exeter and Lisa Platt of Dover; one son, William A. Platt of Seekonk, Mass.; and six grandchildren.
Private memorial services were held Saturday at his daughter's home in Kittery.
