Valerie J. Greenwood
KENSINGTON - Valerie J. (Lowry) Sargent Greenwood, 60, of 23 Osgood Road, died January 10, 2001, in Exeter Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was born May 26, 1940, in Waterbury, Conn., the daughter of the late Robert and Geraldine (Staples) Lowry and had resided in Kensington for 31 years coming from Amesbury, Mass.
Mrs. Greenwood worked at the Seabrook Greyhound Park and had previously been the manager at the Richdale Store, Newburyport, Mass., for more than 20 years.
She enjoyed crafts, cooking, the beach and Plum Island.
She is survived by her husband, Richard W. Greenwood; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Holly Sargent of San Francisco, Colleen Soucie of Kensington, Candace and John Soucy of South Hampton and Barbara and Jess Claridge of Newmarket; six grandchildren; and a special friend, Melinda Cronin of Salisbury, Mass.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Simplicity Burial & Cremation Services, Newburyport. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Newburyport.

Martha C. Haskell
AGAWAM, Mass. - Martha Caroline Haskell, 91, of Alfred Circle, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at SunBridge of Exeter.
She was born June 6, 1909, in New Britain, Conn., the daughter of the late John and Caroline (Thurner) Schweiger and had resided in Agawam since 1956.
Mrs. Haskell was a former member of Agawam Congregational Church.
She is survived by two sons, Theodore Pickett of Exeter and Robert C. Pickett of Houston, Tex.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Clyde Pickett, and her second husband, Robert Haskell.
Funeral services were held Thursday in the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter, with the Rev. Kenneth Lawrence officiating. Burial was in Agawam Center Cemetery, Agawam.

Paul Jordan
EAST KINGSTON - Paul Jordan, 68, of Stage Coach Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, in Exeter Hospital.
He was born Nov. 13, 1932, in Kensington the son of the late Alfred and Grace (Wilbur) Jordan and had been a lifelong resident of East Kingston and Kensington.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Jordan retired from AT&T in North Andover, Mass.
He is survived by one brother, Herbert Jordan of Exeter; one sister, Mildred Cutter of Amesbury, Mass.; many nieces and nephews; and a good friend, Robert Houle of East Kingston.
He was predeceased by five brothers, Alfred Jordan Jr., Edwin Jordan, Donald Jordan, Robert Jordan and Ralph Jordan; and three sisters, Edna Jordan, Grace Crosby and Marjorie Mitchell.
Funeral services were held Thursday in East Kingston Community United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Barner officiating. Spring burial will be in Village Cemetery, Kensington.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688.
Arrangements were by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.
Stefie H. Mazur
NEWMARKET - Stefie H. Mazur, 83, of Maplecrest, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at her home after a brief illness.
She was born April 2, 1917, in Newmarket, the daughter of John A. and Stephania (Bajorek) Pelczar and was a lifelong resident of Newmarket.
Mrs. Mazur attended the Church of St. Thomas More, Durham, and St. Catherine of Siena Church in Portsmouth.
She enjoyed the beach, reading, yard work, sitting on her porch and her family.
The widow of John Mazur, who died in 1989, She is survived by two sons, Robert Mazur of Dover and Edward Mazur and his wife Sheryl of Omaha, Neb.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and Jeffrey Miller of Bow, Kathleen and Greg Thayer of Newmarket and Dawn Mazur of Newmarket; two grandchildren; one brother, Lewis Pelczar of Newmarket; two sisters, Beneda Gielar of Newmarket and Lillian Richmond of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, Bernard Pelczar, who died in 1999.
There are no calling hours.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Newmarket, with Msgr. Lawrence Burns as celebrant. Spring burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the N.H. Heart Association, 20 Merrimack St., Suite 1, Manchester, NH 03101-2244.

Halford P. McLane
STAMFORD, Conn. - Halford "Hal" McLane, 61, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, in Stamford Hospital following surgery and treatment for kidney cancer.
He was born in Portsmouth, the son of Priscilla Palfrey McLane of Portsmouth and the late Howard E. McLane. He had resided in New Canaan, Conn., since 1966 and had a home in Niantic, Conn.
He was a 1957 graduate of Portsmouth High School where he played basketball and baseball, and a 1961 graduate of University of New Hampshire where he played baseball.
As a teenager he was active in DeMolay and in area sports.
Mr. McLane was head of the science department at Saxe Junior High School, New Canaan, and headed the Family Life and Drug Education for all of New Canaan schools, retiring in 1989. He had previously taught science at Portsmouth Junior High School, was a principal in Barrington and a science teacher at Nathan Hale Junior High School in Norwalk, Conn. Following his retirement he pursued a career in antiques and show management in the greater New England area for 28 years and owned an antique shop in Darien, Conn., for eight years.
He was a member of St. Andrew's Lodge F&AM, Portsmouth; president and member of the Connecticut Dog Federation; a member of Ox Ridge Kennel Club; headed up the board of Genesis in New Canaan; and served four terms as a member of New Canaan's Park and Recreation Commission and was instrumental in the development of the Lapham Center. He was head of public relations for the Source Library in Darien; and co-directed the New Canaan City-Country Vacation Program.
He was a member of North Congregational Church, Portsmouth, where he participated in youth activities and taught Sunday school.
He was an avid sailor and cruised out of the Kittery Point Yacht Club, Portsmouth Harbor, Darien, Norwalk, New London and Old Saybrook, Conn., area.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jane (Morse) McLane; one son, Marc Rawling Cardwell of Vienna, Va.; and one grandson.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Franklin Hoyt Funeral Home, New Canaan.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in New Canaan Congregational Church, New Canaan, and on Saturday, Jan. 27, at noon in North Congregational Church Chapel, Spinney Road, Portsmouth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the McLane Family Endowed Scholarship Fund, UNH Alumni Office, Durham, NH 03824, the New Canaan Nature Center or the Center for Hope, Darien, Conn.

Mildred S. McLeod
ORANGE, N.J. - Mildred Steeber McLeod, 81, of Orange and Hampton Beach, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at her home in Orange.
She was born in Newark, N.J., was raised in Ledgewood, N.J., and had resided in Lake Hiawatha before moving to Orange and Hampton Beach.
She was a 1936 graduate of Roxbury High School and received her registered nurse degree from St. Mary's School of Nursing, Orange, in 1939. She received her master's degree in nursing education and spinal cord injury from Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J.
She was an Army Nurse Corps veteran of World War II serving as a captain for the Air Transport Command.
Mrs. McLeod was a specialist in spinal cord injury for the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange and for the Veterans Administration Hospital in East Orange, retiring in 1986.
She was honored at The Women in Military Service for America Memorial in Washington, D.C. in 1997.
She is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, John C. and Son Hwa McLeod of Orange, Robert M. and Donna McLeod of West Caldwell, N.J., William A. McLeod of San Diego, Calif., and Scott E. and Linda McLeod of Havelock, N.C.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Lora and Robert DeNunzio of Chula Vista, Calif., and Linda L. McLeod of Costa Mesa, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Laura Urbanowicz of Brick, N.J., Jeanne Steeber of Alabama and Adele Blair of Wisconsin.
She was predeceased by one daughter, Joan Montgomery; one granddaughter, Dawn McLeod; and one brother, John C. Steever.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday in St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Orange. Interment was in Flanders Hillside Cemetery, Flanders, N.J.
Louise T. Oliver
FRANKLIN - Louise T. Oliver, 101, formerly of Hampton, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Mountain Ridge Center Genesis Eldercare, Franklin.
She was born in Lewiston, Maine, the daughter of Frank E. and Emily (Block) Lang.
Mrs. Oliver was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for several years.
She was a member of the Pythian Sisters.
The widow of William H. Oliver, she is survived by one daughter, Wilma O. Bourne of West Falmouth, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one daughter, Anna O. Goss.
Graveside services will be held in the spring in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.
Arrangements are by the Bennett Funeral Home, Concord.
Harold W. Page
HAMPTON - Harold W. Page, 78, of 86 Esker Road, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at Seacoast Health Center.
He was born June 14, 1922, in Newburyport, Mass., the son of the late Harold and Camellia (Stevens) Page and had resided in Hampton for 20 years.
He was a 1941 graduate of Newburyport High School and received his bachelor of science degree from the University of New Hampshire and his master's degree from the University of Massachusetts.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Page was an engineer for Raytheon in Bedford, Mass., for more than 13 years. He was instrumental in the design of the patriot missile as well as other missiles. He had previously worked for the AVCO Corp. in Wilmington, Mass.
He and his wife owned and operated Seascape Motel at North Beach in Hampton for many years.
He was a great pianist and accomplished musician and had the ability to play any instrument and played the bagpipes with the Clan MacPerson Marching Band.
He was a former member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 909 and the North End Boat Club, both of Newburyport; and the American Legion Post No. 70 of Seabrook.
He is survived by his wife, Doris A. (Desprez) Page; one daughter, Beverly J. Page of Hampton; two sons and their wives, John J. and Danice Page of Venice, Calif., and Steve G. and Lanita Valcke of Litchfield; two grandchildren; one brother, George Parker of North Attleboro, Mass.; one sister, Cora Shoreman of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Simplicity Burial & Cremation Services, 287 High St., Newburyport, followed by a Service of Sharing at 8 p.m.
Margaret E. Wiggin
HAMPTON - Margaret Elizabeth Wiggin, 86, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Seacoast Healthcare.
She was born June 4, 1914, in Cohasset, Mass., the daughter of James and Elizabeth (McLeod) Wilson and had resided in Hampton for more than 50 years.
She was a graduate of Cohasset High School and received her degree in business accounting from Boston School of Business.
Mrs. Wiggin was employed by Allied Gas Co. of Exeter, John Conway, CPA, of Exeter and Pearse Leather of Hampton.
She was an accomplished self-taught artist and had many of her oil seascapes and landscapes on display throughout the state. She was a science and astronomy enthusiast and was the recipient of the highest honors as a Girl Scout leader.
The widow of Paul N. Wiggin, she is survived by two daughters, Martha Ann Bernier of Kensington and Pauline Hopkins of Eugene, Ore.; one stepdaughter, Margaret Smith of Exeter; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, with the Rev. David Lennox officiating. Burial will follow in Exeter Cemetery.
