KENNETH C. CALDWELL III
AUBURN – Kenneth Carlton Caldwell III, 46, died Dec. 4, 2006, at Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Mass., after a two-year battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 6, 1960, in Mount Holly, N.J., to Kenneth II and Elizabeth (Patterson) Caldwell. He grew up in Medford Lakes, N.J., and graduated in 1978 from Shawnee High School in Medford.

Mr. Caldwell joined the U.S. Navy in 1979, and following training at Great Lakes, Ill., served aboard the ammunition ship USS Butte in the Mediterranean, Persian Gulf, Caribbean and North Atlantic.

He moved to New Hampshire in 1984 and was employed by various sheet metal companies, both locally and in the Boston area. He was employed at Freeman Fuel in Methuen for the past 16 years.

Mr. Caldwell’s passion was baseball. He loved attending Red Sox games and watching his son play baseball. He enjoyed traveling and the many trips to Florida to visit his family.

Family members include his wife of 14 years, Elaine Tatulis- Caldwell of Bedford; a son, Kenneth “Kenny” Caldwell IV of Auburn; his parents of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a brother, Kevin Caldwell of Punta Gorda, Fla.; many aunts, uncles and cousins in the New Jersey area and several nieces and nephews locally.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 State Route 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110.

Peabody Funeral Home and Crematorium in Derry handled the arrangements.

ALFRED M. BEAN
PEMBROKE – Alfred M. “Al” Bean, 68, died Nov. 25, 2006, at Hospice House in Concord after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born in Lebanon to the late Alfred H. and Elizabeth (Currier) Bean. He spent his early childhood years there and in Canaan.

Mr. Bean moved to Pembroke in 1961 and was a self-employed contractor. Prior to that, he was employed for Brezner Tanning in Penacook and Structures Unlimited in Bow.

He was a longtime Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 270 in Pembroke. An avid snowmobiler, his second home in Colebrook was a local stopover for any and all snowmobilers passing by.

Family members include his wife of 50 years, Harriet (Munn) Bean of Pembroke; three children, David Bean of Allenstown, Michael Bean of Sanbornton and Frances Bean of Candia; and four grandchildren, Jessica, Lindsey, Kirstie and Kendra.

Memorial donations may be made to CRVNA, Hospice House, P.O. Box 1797, Concord, NH 03302; or Boy Scout Troop 270, Pembroke, NH 03275.

Petit Funeral Home in Pembroke handled the arrangements.

DIANN K. BENYO
AUBURN – Diann K. Benyo, 62, died Dec. 3, 2006, in Elliot Hospital in Manchester.
She was born Aug. 8, 1944, in Kirksville, Mo., to Edmund and Nauvita (Cook) Everett.

She was a resident of Auburn for the past 14 years, formerly living in Philadelphia.

Mrs. Benyo was a graduate of Triton Regional High School in New Jersey, and Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing where she was employed as a registered nurse.

She enjoyed reading, ceramics and projects around the house. She was also a communicant of St. Peter Catholic Church in Auburn.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald L. Benyo, who died 1996.

Family members include a daughter, Kimberly Durling of Manchester.

Memorial contributions may be made to Eternal Word Television Network, 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210-9948.

LIONEL W. MARTIN JR.
HOOKSETT – Lionel W. Martin Jr., 41, of Virginia Court, died Dec. 5, 2006, at home after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born in Concord on Feb. 4, 1965, and was raised in and spent his early years in Pembroke and Allenstown. He made his home in Hooksett for the past nine years.

A graduate of Pembroke Academy, Mr. Martin received his bachelor of science degree in business administration from New Hampshire College.

He was employed by Herrington Catalogue since 1993 and had previously worked for Bedford Computer Software Publishing Co.

Mr. Martin enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, but he was especially devoted to his children and loved being involved in their lives.

He was predeceased by his father, Lionel Martin Sr., in 1996.

Family members include his high school sweetheart, best friend and wife of 17 years, Ruth (Petit) Martin of Hooksett; three children, Lindsay, Shannon and Joshua Martin, all of Hooksett; his mother, Sandra (Beard) Martin of Pembroke; a brother, sister-in-law and nephew, Michael, Patty and Keagan Martin of Bradford; and his maternal grandmother, Florence Beard of Florida.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or the Brain Tumor Research Fund, Dana Farber Institute, 44 Binney St., Room SW 430B, Boston, MA 02115.

JOSEPH ALONGI
GOFFSTOWN – Joseph Alongi, 83, of Goffstown died Dec. 8, 2006, at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, after a period of declining health.
He was born Oct. 31, 1923, in Malden, Mass., to the late Casimiro and Liboria (Alongi) Alongi.

He was raised and educated in the Malden area and lived most of his life in the area.

Mr. Alongi served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a corporal, and left the Army in 1946. He was employed for 30 years by Piantidosi Bakery of Medford as a shipper. After retirement he relocated to Goffstown, where he worked for many years as a school crossing guard.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Sarah R. Alongi in 1996.

Family members include his wife of nine years, Mary Alongi of Kernersville, N.C.; a son, Joseph Alongi Jr. of Revere, Mass.; a daughter, Marie Mix of Vero Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren; five stepchildren; many stepgrandchildren; a sister, Loretta Benvinuto of Vero Beach, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

VICTOR M. GAMACHE
BEDFORD – Victor M. Gamache, 84, died Dec. 9, 2006, at Genesis Health Care Center in Bedford.
He was born Dec. 7, 1922, in Manchester to Wilibert and Diana (Carter) Gamache.

Before his retirement, Mr. Gamache was an electrical design technician for Control Power System for many years.

He was a World War II Navy veteran, past president of AARP and was an avid bowler. He also volunteered for various charities such as the soup kitchen and ran bingo at St. Francis.

Family members include his wife of 60 years, Eva (Trudeau) Gamache of Bedford; a son, Paul Gamache of Bedford; a daughter, Debbie Geoffroy, both of Lyman; a granddaughter, Lisa Roberson of Manchester; a sister, Irene Truska of New Hampshire; and various nieces, nephews and cousins.

DOROTHY L. PRATTE
MANCHESTER – Dorothy L. Pratte, 59, of Manchester, died Dec. 2, 2006, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born Sept. 22, 1947, in Goffstown to Clifton and Irene (Young) Rumrill. She was raised and educated in Goffstown, and was a 1965 graduate of Goffstown High School.

Mrs. Pratte was employed as an electronics assembler with RCD Components of Manchester.

She was an avid bingo player, and a longtime member of the Getaway Lounge.

Family members include her husband of 27 years, Robert R. Pratte of Manchester; two sons, Michael and Robert Shaw, both of Newport, Vt.; a brother and sister-in-law, Merton and Joanne Rumrill; and several nieces an nephews.

French and Rising Funeral Home in Goffstown handled the arrangements.

SOPHIE CHAMPAGNE
MANCHESTER – Sophie C. Champagne, 95, died Dec. 5, 2006, at Ridgewood Center in Bedford after a period of declining health.
She was born May 16, 1911, in Manchester to Francis and Caroline (Rympala) Kuliga.

Mrs. Champagne was a Manchester resident all of the her life and a communicant of the former St. George Church for many years.

She worked at Waumbec Mills. She was married to Joseph Champagne, who died in 1979.

Family members include children Joan Marshall of Pembroke, Pauline Belanger of Bedford and Frank Champagne of Manchester; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister Blanche Szopa of Manchester; brothers, John Kuliga and Stanley Kuliga, both of Hooksett, and Frederick Kuliga of Manchester; and nieces and nephews.

Lambert Funeral Home and Crematory in Manchester handled the arrangements.

MAURICE E. HOULE
HOOKSETT – Maurice “Shank” E. Houle, 85, of Hooksett, died Dec. 4, 2006, at Catholic Medical Center.
He was born March 12, 1921, in Manchester to J. Emile and Mildred (LeFebvre) Houle. He was graduated from St. Joseph High School for Boys in 1940 and attended the University of New Hampshire in Durham.

Mr. Houle spent his career working for Fuller Brush and then for Mutual of Omaha. He worked the past six years as a beauty consultant for CB Sullivan.

He also spent countless hours volunteering for Mr. Bee’s Florist, delivering on the holidays.

He was an avid athlete for his entire life. He was a member of Derryfield Country Club. In his 70s, he made a hole-in-one on the third hole.

Few times were more precious to him than time spent golfing with his sons, or “berrying” with his daughter. He enjoyed gardening with his wife and they maintained a show quality garden at their home.

Mr. Houle loved to entertain and his parties are part of local lore. During his senior year, classmates voted him most jovial and his magnetic personality won him many lifelong friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Muriel Eynon and brothers, Paul and Robert Houle.

Family members include his wife of 63 years, Rose Ann Houle of Hooksett; a daughter, Katharine McNaughton of Manchester; three sons, David Houle of Bedford, Stephen Houle of Manchester and James Houle of San Marcos, Calif.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 2 Wall St., Manchester, NH 03101.

WILFRED J. CARREAU
MANCHESTER – Wilfred J. Carreau, 80, died Dec. 8, 2006, at Catholic Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 15, 1926, in Manchester to Arthur and Margaret (Palfrey) Carreau. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester and Goffstown.

Mr. Carreau was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in World War II and received the bronze star and the Purple Heart.

He worked for Amoskeag Tanning Co. for many years and also for several years at the VA Hospital in Manchester.

Mr. Carreau was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed reading and going to Rockingham Park. He was also a member of the Belgium Club of Manchester and enjoyed watching Western movies. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Family members include his wife of 56 years, Madeline (Theodorou) Carreau of Goffstown; four daughters, Carol Thibaudeau of Bedford, and Deborah McGinness, Darlene Fredette and Ann Gilbert, all of Manchester; four grandchildren, Joshua and Joseph Thibaudeau, both of Bedford, and John and Meaghan McGinness of Dracut, Mass.; a sister, Rita Monnelly of Bedford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his close friend, David Roche of Manchester.
