Meralyn MacDonald
Somersworth: Meralyn MacDonald, 65, of 233 Sherwood Glen, died early Monday, August 2, 2004 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover, N.H.
She was born on December 13, 1938, East Boston, MA. the daughter of Joseph and Mildred (New Hook) Doucette.
She was a resident of the Somersworth area since 1990. One of her favorite things to do was shop with her two sisters, Delores and Donna. She also loved spending time with her family at home especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed going to Cape Cod and taking a trip out on the Island Queen.
She is survived by her husband, Hugh MacDonald of Somersworth, NH; two sons, Billy and Warren Brown both of Somersworth, NH; one brother, Harold Doucette of Somersworth, NH; two sisters, Delores Martel of Portsmouth, NH and Donna Anderson of Somersworth, NH; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by one daughter, Donna Silva; five brothers, Arthur, Charles, Robert, Walter and Joseph Doucette; and her parents, Joseph and Mildred (New Hook) Doucette.
Visiting hours will be from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, August 4th and funeral services will be 11 am on Thursday, August 5th, at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover, NH with Chaplain Ginny Slawnwhite officiating, of the Wentworth Douglass Hospital. Burial will follow at the Pine Hill Cemetery, Dover, NH.

Snyder, Clair
N.H. state Rep. Clair Arleen Snyder, 82, of Somersworth, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at the Vermont Respite House in Williston, Vt., following a repeated battle with cancer.
She was born on Oct. 6, 1924, in Boston, Mass., the youngest of three children. Her parents were Louis and Sarah (Cooper) Weisberg. She graduated from Dorchester High School, and later from Southern New Hampshire University with a bachelor's degree in accounting. She was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Clair spent much of her professional career working for The University of New Hampshire and as business manager for Channel 11 Public Television. Upon her retirement, she dedicated the rest of her spirited life to community service and became a devoted leader in the communities and organizations she was privileged to serve.
In Somersworth, she served on the School Board from 1981 to 2002 as a member and as chair for several terms. She was elected to seven consecutive terms in the N.H. House of Representatives beginning in 1992, a position and commitment she enthusiastically held until this last battle with cancer prompted her not to run for re-election.
In the state Legislature, she was on the House Education Committee and was an impassioned advocate for state financial support for public schools. She sponsored and passed bills on Breast Cancer Reconstruction surgery and rape victim's rights, and co-sponsored the College Tuition Savings Plan bill. She served on the Public Higher Education Oversight Committee, the Community-Technical College Oversight Committee, and the Charter School Oversight Committee, and she chaired the Homeless Student Study Committee.
She was an executive committee member of the Strafford County Democratic party for many years.
Her other public service over the years included serving on the boards of the New Hampshire School Board Association, Your VNA and Hospice, NH Public Risk Management (Primex3), SASS (Sexual Assault Support Services), and the advisory board of Somersworth Safe Haven. She also had the bookworm's pleasure of being a Somersworth Library Trustee.
Her entire life was characterized by community service and undeterred participation in the political process. She will be remembered for her strong opinions and frankness, informed intelligence, and her wit and humor, as well as her deeply caring and committed ways. Her colleagues and constituents, her friends and family will dearly miss her.
She is survived by her two children, Glen Snyder of New Durham, and Lin Stone of Shelburne, Vt., and her four granddaughters, Ammie and Asia Snyder, and Molly and Scarlett Stone.
A celebration of her life will take place at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover, N.H., on Friday, Nov. 10, at 4 p.m. People will be welcome to come to speak and share memories and stories of Clair's place in their lives.

Tripodi, Ralph
Ralph V. , 80, of 2b Rita Road died at his residence on Sunday October 29, 2006 surrounded by family.
Ralph was born on January 26, 1926 in Chicago, IL and was the son of Salvatore and Caroline (Galechio) Tripodi.
He was raised in New York, attending schools in that community. After high school, Ralph went into the Navy for a time during WW II. Upon his return he worked in the family business and was eventually the owner of Ralph Market in Estonia, NY a family owned Italian American Grocery Store. After the sale of the business, he was employed with King Kullen Super Markets.
Mr. Tripodi had been a resident of Somersworth since 1987. Ralph was an active member of his church, the Free Baptist Church of South Berwick where he had served as a former deacon.
Family members include his wife of 56 years, June (Anderson) Tripodi of Somersworth, his son Ralph S. Tripodi and his wife Linda S. of Gonic, two daughters, Carolyn Lynch and her husband John of Long Island, NY and Florence Marie Kogut and her husband Paul of Bay Port, NY. Ralph also leaves a brother Emilio Monaco of Vero Beach, Fl, 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Mr. Tripodi was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Earl and Geraldine Tripodi and by his daughter Suzanne Sottile who died in 2002.
Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street Somersworth will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00am in the South Berwick Free Baptist Church, Main Street, So. Berwick, Maine with Pastor Roy Reynolds presiding.
Allen, Albert "Skip"
Albert J. "Skip" Allen, 71, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Somersworth, N.H., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006.
He was born on Feb. 8, 1935, in South Berwick, Maine, to Edmund and Elsie (Murdo) Allen.
He was an avid sportsman and loved hunting, fishing, and camping. As a young man, he raised pheasants for the State of Maine. He was one of the founders of the Berwick Sportsman Association and served as an officer in various capacities. He was a member of the Hackle Tackle Sportsman's club and various other sporting clubs.
He was a Cub Scout leader and a Scoutmaster for several years for St. Martin's Troop 195 in Somersworth. He especially enjoyed the many camping trips he took them on.
He worked for the General Electric Company for 34 years and as a member of the GEEA enjoyed the shooting range and other sports events. He was a veteran serving with the U.S. Army.
In 1994, he moved to Florida and took up tennis and woodcarving. As time went on, he was no longer able to play tennis but really enjoyed woodcarving and the many friends he made in the process. He was a member of the SW Florida Woodcarvers and Charlotte Harbor Fly Fishers Club.
He enjoyed following his grandsons athletic achievements and was always so proud of them.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janette Allen; his son, Major David J. Allen and his wife, Shereen, of Westpoint, N.Y.; his daughter, Donna L. Lapointe and her husband, Roland, of Somersworth; his two grandsons, Christopher R. Lapointe of San Francisco, Calif., and Ryan P. Lapointe attending George Washington University in Washington, D.C.; his sister-in-law, Marcella Philpott of Somersworth, and Port Charlotte; his brother-in-law, George A. Lessard of Fuquary Springs, N.C.

Ainsworth, Ruth
Ruth M. (Renzzulla) Ainsworth, 82, of Franklin St, died on Tues., Oct. 31, 2006 at her residence.
She was born on June 22, 1924 in Keene, NH; the daughter of John J. and Elizabeth J. (Wall) Renzzulla.
She has been a Dover resident since 1954, moving to Somersworth one year ago; a member of the A & H Club at the Greek Hall and Knight’s of Columbus Woman’s Auxiliary. She loved to play Bingo, computer games, spending time with her grandchildren and her music.
She worked as a waitress for many years at the Honey Bee Restaurant in Dover retiring in 1960.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Ainsworth of Gonic, Tina Ainsworth of Wiscasset, ME and Donna Smart of Somersworth; her 9 grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Ainsworth in 1986 and her son David Ainsworth in 1947.
A private burial service will be held at the Pine Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Marquis, Ada
Ada H. Marquis of 9 South Street, Somersworth, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2006 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She had just passed her 90th birthday.
Born in Presque Isle, Maine on October 27, 1916 to William and Katherine (Gilmore) Price. Ada loved spending most of her childhood on her grandfather’s farm in Berwick and graduated from Sullivan High School in 1935. She worked at Somersworth Wood Heel for many years and raised five children on her own after her husband Paul died in 1952. She loved gardening, sewing, and baking and no one will ever forget spending time in her kitchen during canning season. “Dood” was the best mother and grandmother you could have ever asked for and will be greatly missed by all of us.
Ada leaves behind 4 daughters, Marlene Marquis, Diane Twombly and Cheryl Constance all of Somersworth, and MaryLou (Scott) Smith of Strafford. Also, 1 daughter-in-law, Janet Marquis of Somersworth and a brother, Larry Straffin of North Berwick. Ada had a large extended family of 13 grandchildren; Karen (Michael) Torr, Steven (Barbara) Marquis, William (Donna) Marquis, and Kevin (Nicole) Marquis. Brian (Peggy) Boyle, Christopher Boyle, Kerie (Tim) Crichton, and Michelle (Geoff) Fox. Richard Twombly, Jody (Kristen) Twombly, and Kelly (Scott) McMullen. Bree (Brian) Poor and Michael (Sue) Rogers. With 23 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
Ada was predeceased by her parents and stepfather J. Ronald Straffin, husband Paul, her only son Robert, a granddaughter Maggie, a brother Donald Price and 4 sisters; Marion Murphy, Rowena Beamis, Maxine Price and Viola Tanguay.
Per Ada’s request there will be no calling hours. Roberge Funeral Home of Somersworth will be handling all arrangements and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:00AM at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, West High Street in Somersworth, with Fr. Aaron Pfaff officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Bradley Libenson and Seacoast Hospice for all their help. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her name to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
Waye, Roseann
Goffstown, NH - Roseann (Remick) Waye, 27, formerly of Somersworth died suddenly Monday Nov. 6, 2007.
Roseann was born in Dover the daughter of Robert and Rosalie Remick. She attended Somersworth Schools.
Survivors include two children: Zachary and Jacob Waye of N. Hampton, NH; her ex-husband Josh Waye of N. Hampton, NH; three brothers, Roland Remick of Goffstown, NH, Robert Remick of Somersworth and Roy and his wife Shanon Remick of Somersworth; three sisters, Regina Varney and her husband Charles of Exeter, NH, Rita Ellis and her husband David of Rochester, NH and Raylene Whitten and her husband Jeff of Rollinsford, NH; her grandmother Charlotte Summerset of S. Berwick, ME; uncles George Remick of Portsmouth, NH; William Remick of Arizona and Larry Fahy of So. Berwick; nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the Roberge Funeral Home 298 High St. Somersworth. A service will be conducted at 8 PM at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to American Autism Assn.
Remick, Roseann
Goffstown, NH. - Roseann Marie Remick 27, died November 6, 2006 at her residence. Born in Dover she was raised in Somersworth and has been residing with her brother in Goffstown. She was the daughter of Robert E. and Rosalie (Fahy) Remick, Sr.
Roseann was a graduate of Somersworth High School.
The great love of her life was spending time with family and friends, especially children. She will be missed by all, but is now with her parents whom she deeply missed.
Members of her family include three sisters Regina Varney of Exeter, Rita Ellis of Rochester, Raylene Whitten of Rollinsford. Three brothers Roland Remick of Goffstown, Robert E. Remick, Jr. of Somersworth and Roy Remick of Somersworth. Several nieces, nephews aunts and uncles.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. French and Rising Funeral Home 17 South Mast Street Goffstown is in charge of arrangements.

Goodwin, Linda
Eliot, Maine - Linda Lee Goodwin, 55, of 294 Bolt Hill Road died Saturday, November 11, 2006 at her home after a long struggle with ALS.
Linda was born in Laconia, NH on March 21, 1951 and was the daughter of George and Yvette (Lapierre) Gauthier.
During her childhood years she was raised in the Lakes Region of NH and moved with her parents and family to Somersworth in 1967.
She graduated from Somersworth High School Class of 1969. She lived in the Somersworth, Rochester area until her move to Eliot, Maine in 1996.
After high school, Linda started a career with General Electric in Somersworth, which spanned over 33 years. She retired as a tester with the company.
Linda’s life centered on family, she adored her nephews and nieces.
She loved outdoor activities such as white water rafting, snowmobiling but what was most dear to her was riding with her husband on the motorcycle.
She loved this the most by far and never hesitated to go for a ride when the opportunity came up.
She and her husband traveled extensively across the country by motorcycle.
Family members include her husband of 3 years, Justin Goodwin of Eliot, Maine, her mother Yvette Gauthier of Berwick, Maine.
She also leaves her 11 brothers and sisters, Marcia Mantos and her husband George, Roland Gauthier and his wife Karen, Pauline Morrill and her husband Doody, Susan Guy and her husband James, Arlene McKinnon and her husband Chris, Barbara Gauthier, all of Berwick, Maine; Georgette Cartier and her husband Giles, Brandy Gauthier all of Rochester, NH; Lorraine McNulty and her husband Patrick of Dover, NH, Lorraine Lessard and her husband Larry of Williamstown, VT. and Adam Gauthier of Texas.
She also leaves her 22 nieces and nephews and 18 great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Wednesday at 1:00pm at the Great Bay Gallery and Catering, 25 Willand Drive (off of Rte 108) Somersworth, NH. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick Maine.

Vigneault-Veno, Gerard
Gerard Vigneault-Veno, 76, of Ashville, N.C., died peacefully at his home Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006.
He was born March 2, 1930, in Somersworth, N.H., the son of the late Edouard and Eva Vigneault of Somersworth, N.H.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his three sisters, Rita Gosselin, Annette Viola, Blanche Wiggin and three brothers, Robert Vigneault, Raymond Vigneault and Paul Vigneault; his stepbrother, Phil Nadeau; his stepmother, Theresa Vigneault and one granddaughter, Amanda Marie Harnois.
He is survived by four daughters, Donna Drolet and her husband, Marc, of Manchester, N.H., and Kathy Lapanne of North Hampton, N.H., and Lisa Harnois and her husband, David, of North Hampton, and Brenda Tremblay and her husband, David, of Rochester, N.H.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two bothers, Roger Vigneault of Rollinsford, N.H., and Dick Vigneault of Sun City, Ariz.
A graveside service will be held Nov. 18 at 11 a.m., at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Somersworth.
