Edward F. McGee Jr., 84, of Fryeburg, formerly of Wayland and Dover, Mass. died Saturday, Oct. 13 2001 at the North Conway Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of Irene (Hallgren) McGee.
Born in Wayland, he was the son of the late Edward F. and Anna (Dorcheimer) McGee.
Mr. McGee was a retired Vice President for the Shell Oil Company in the United States and internationally for over 30 years.
During World War II he served as Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Air Force.
After his military service he continued as an avid flyer both personally and in his work for Shell Oil Company.
He also enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Ellen Canavan of Needham, Mass.; one sister, Doris Hastings of Fryeburg; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was the husband of the late Eleanor M. (Mullen) McGee and father of the late Edward F. McGee III.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services in the Chapel of the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common in Natick, Mass. on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Wayland.
Van Carroll Eastman, 57, of Fryeburg, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001 at his home following a long illness. He was born in Bridgton, Maine and grew up in Stow, Maine, the son of Fred "Bill" and Anna Hodsdon Eastman and attended Fryeburg schools. Van worked as a woodsman, truck driver and for 20 years as a butcher. Van was predeceased by his father, a brother Roger and a sister Marcia Emmerson. He is survived by his mother of Stow; his long time companion Paula Hammond of Fryeburg; daughter Penny and husband Kenneth Parmenter of Stow; his feline friend Flash; a daughter Jaime Smith of Chatham; a son Ricky J. Eastman of Lovell, Maine; two grandchildren, Jonathan deGreenia of Stow and Sara Jo Eastman of Brownfield, Maine.
A memorial graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at Center Chatham Cemetery in Chatham, with the Rev. Violet Eastman officiating.

Albert G. McKinney, 88, of 347 Lancaster Hill Road, Lochmere, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at the Belknap County Nursing Home in Laconia after a long illness.
He was born in Melrose, Mass., on Aug. 25, 1913, the son of Albert W. and Mary C. (Griffith) McKinney.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
His family includes his wife of 64 years, Bette V. (Schofield) McKinney; three sons, Albert G. McKinney Jr. of Brownfield, Maine, R. Scott McKinney of Hampton, and Robert S. McKinney of Tilton; two daughters, Betsy J. Swain of Atlanta, Ga., and Mary K. Civiello of Franklin; a sister, Virginia Redmond of Maitland, Fla.; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Friday, Oct. 5, in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. Burial followed the service.

William P. Kuvaja Sr., 60, of North Norway, Maine, died Sunday, Oct. 7, at his residence.
He was born in Norway on March 22, 1941, the son of Waino and Ida Oman Kuvaja. He was a graduate of Norway High School. Mr. Kuvaja had worked for the Town of Norway for 25 years before retiring. Upon retiring, he started his own lawn care and snow plowing business. Mr. Kuvaja worked for the Greenwood and Norway Pine Grove cemeteries for many years doing the maintenance. Mr. Kuvaja married Rachel Charles on Nov. 22, 1980. He was a member of the Crooked River Masonic Lodge.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of East Conway; a daughter, Pamela Paradis of North Conway; a son, William Kuvaja Jr., of Norway, Maine; two stepchildren, Timothy Chandler of Lovell, Maine, and Vicky Chandler of East Conway; a brother, Wayne Kuvaja of Bridgton, Maine; his mother, of Rumford, Maine, seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two nephews.
Sue St. John, 87, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001.
Born in Connersville, Ind., on Dec. 20, 1913, she lived a full, vigorous life, much of which was spent in Eaton Center on the family farm, and Conway Lake.
She leaves behind a daughter, Susan St. John; two grandchildren, Kimberly E. Drechsel and Hugh Armstrong Fitzgerald Jr.; a nephew, William F. Thoms III and his wife, Sandra Thoms; nieces Connie Mazur, Lizette Snyder and Gretchen Thoms; two brothers, J. Robert Thoms, formerly of Eaton, and Charles Thoms of Garden City, New York; and five great-grandchildren, Joseph Drechsel, Anna Drechsel, Sarah Drechsel, Heidi Drechsel, and Daniel Drechsel. She also leaves "adopted" grandchildren, Karrie and Adrienne Bieweilie and Tyler Marie.
There will be a celebration of her life on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the Thoms farm on Young Road, Eaton Center.

Robert H. Trask of Tamworth passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Memorial Hospital in North Conway at the age of 79. Bob was born March 7, 1922, in Tamworth, the son of the late Harold and Emma (Moulton) Trask.
Bob was a longtime resident of Tamworth and had worked as a self-employed electrician for many years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Sea Bees as an Electricians Mate 2nd Class in the South Pacific. Bob served the town of Tamworth as a selectman and was also a member and past Master of the Ossipee Valley Lodge 74 F&AM, Center Ossipee.
He was predeceased by his wife, Pricilla "Pat" Trask, and is survived by a son, Howard R. Trask of Tamworth; two granddaughters, Ashley Trask of Mesa, Ariz. and Susan Cheevers of Lynndeborough; a grandson, Michael Mather of Nashua; a sister, Ruth Perkins, of Westbrook, Maine; and two brothers, Harold Trask of Dover and Frank Trask of Seabrook Island, S.C. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Beverly Mather.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be at a later date.

Nancy B. Heath, 54, of Haleytown Road in Fryeburg, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at her home.
She was born in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Herbert and Ruth Stone Brooks and grew up in Brownfield, Maine, graduating from Fryeburg Academy, class of 1964. Nancy worked for many years at Hicks Nursing Home in Fryeburg, and she also worked for Dr. Alan Goldenhar and Dr. Gene Royer.
She loved babies and children and was active with the Celebrate Families Group. She baby-sat for several local families. Nancy enjoyed her flower gardens, cooking and baking. She was a member of the Fryeburg New Church.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Dale Heath of Fryeburg; two sons, Randy and his wife Stephanie Heath of Reno, Nev., and Shawn Heath and his girlfriend Tina of Mesa, Ariz.; three brothers, Burton and James Brooks, both of Brownfield, and Conrad Brooks of Rockport, Maine; and one sister, Sylvia McAllister of Fryeburg.
There will be no visiting hours. A funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Fryeburg New Church with the Rev. Kenneth Turley officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Fryeburg.

Vincent James Cataldo, 60, of Albany died unexpectedly at home on Oct. 6, 2001.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to many. He will be missed very much.
He was born in Hartford, Conn., and grew up in Massachusetts. He attended the College of Pharmacy in Boston, Mass., after which he enlisted in the Army Reserve, serving as a medic. Jim was an alumnus of Boston University, graduating magna cum laude with a degree in history.
He worked for 20 years in the pharmaceutical field in various capacities; sales representative, sales trainer, hospital representative, and finally in the medical science division of USV Pharmaceutical, calling on teaching hospitals in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Maine. He moved to Conway in 1985 and has been in the convenience store business as proprietor of The Bottle Keg.
Jim was civic-minded, and whenever called upon, was ready to serve. He was always up for a good challenge and took pleasure in it. He served on both the Albany and Conway School Boards, and was chairman of the eight-town cooperative planning board.
Organizations he was involved in were Bits and Bytes; the Mount Washington Valley Economic Council, which gave him the Volunteer of the Year Award in 1999; the Mount Washington Investment Club; and White Mountain Milers.
He was a devoted Catholic, belonging to Our Lady of the Mountains parish. He served as Eucharistic minister, lectern, and taught high school religious education for 10 years. Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7575 and Assembly 2318. He was a past district deputy, grand knight, faithful navigator, and currently, treasurer and purser.
He leaves behind his wife, Anna, to whom he was married for 37 years; two sons, James Cataldo, a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force, stationed in Spokane, Wash., and Paul Cataldo, of New Durham; two daughters, Rosemarie Turner of Newington, Conn., and Diana Cataldo of Albany; two brothers, Rev. David Franklin of Stamford, Conn., and George Franklin of Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Gail Franklin, of Singapore; and his stepfather, Lawrence Franklin of Albuquerque, N.M.
Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway is in charge of arrangements.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Oct. 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Furber and White in North Conway. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mountains Church, located on the corner of Main and Grove in North Conway. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Mountains cemetery.

Frederick "Fritz" Lynn, 53, of Westwood Drive, died Oct. 9, 2001, at Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, after a long illness. He was born April 27, 1948, in Summit, N.J., the son of the late William and Doris (James) Lynn. Fritz lived in Springfield, N.J., prior to moving to Alton Bay, N.H., where he attended local school, later moving back to New Jersey, where he graduated from Columbia High School in 1966.
He served in the U.S. Army Infantry in Vietnam. He moved to Wolfeboro in 1974, where he worked at the Wolfeboro Texaco Station. Fritz later purchased the Texaco business and began operating Fritz's Texaco for several years.
He is survived by two daughters, Heather Lynn of Wolfeboro and Kristen Beth Lynn of Alton Bay; two sons, Frederick Jason Lynn and Jeffery Lynn of Ossipee; one granddaughter; two brothers, William Lynn of Leavittown, Penn., and Jeffrey Lynn of Wolfeboro; two sisters, Doris Smith of Virginia Beach, Va., and Dorreen Pierce of Fort Smith, Ark.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lord Funeral Home, Route 28, Wolfeboro. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
