Lucinda J. Antiss
PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Lucinda J. Antiss, 67, of Portsmouth, were held from the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home – Buckminster Chapel, in Portsmouth on Saturday, with services at Bethel Assembly of God in Portsmouth. Pastor Jeffrey Rudolph and Pastor Peter Miller officiated. A special poem was read by Tammy Jocelyn. Soloists were Pastor Dan Abbatiello, Ken Fernald and Robyn Hubbard. Pianists were Angela Abbatiello and Barbara Grass.
In attendance were members of the church including members of the Women’s Ministries and Keenager’s.
Burial was in Harmony Grove Cemetery, in Portsmouth, with committal services by Pastor Miller, Pastor Rudolph and the Rev. Greg Hubbard. Bearers were Christopher Holt, Luis Manalaysay, Rick Nevers, Richard McIntyre, Martin Wendt and David Perkins.
Simone C. Paradis
KITTERY, Maine - A Mass of Christian burial for Simone C. Paradis who died Sept. 3, 2002, was held Saturday at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Kittery. The Rev. Real Nadeau, parish priest, was celebrant. Altar attendant was Ron LaMontagne. The reader was George Dow.
Music was provided by the St. Raphael’s choir. Butch La Pointe was organist, and soloists were Brian Breslin and Anita Rajotte. A graveside committal service and burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Biddeford. Pallbearers were Nicholas Peterson, David Clark and Burton Howell.
The Rev. Nadeau recited prayers Friday evening during visitation hours at the Wilson-Cooper Funeral Home in Kittery.

Marie L. Smith
EL PASO, Texas - Marie L. Smith, 81, formerly of Kittery, Maine, passed away on Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at her son’s home in El Paso.
She was a loving wife and mother, and very active community volunteer with the local schools, hospitals, and the American Red Cross. She retired to Lantana, Fla.
She is survived by her husband Lewis of Brooklin, Maine; her three sons, Carl, Rodney and Peter; her grandchildren, Kelly, April, Kim, Douglas, Carly, Peter and Marc; and her four great-grandchildren.

Armand Pelletier
HAMPTON BEACH - Armand Pelletier Sr., 91, of 27 River Ave., and formerly of Main Dunstable Road, his farm, in Nashua, died peacefully Friday morning, Sept. 6, 2002, at Exeter Hospital following a period of declining health.
He was born April 26, 1911, in St. Rock, Canada, the son of the late Damase and Virginia (Peelerin) Pelletier. He met and later married the love of his life, Irene Pelleriu in Nashua on Aug. 19, 1932.
Settling in Nashua, he was first employed by one of the local Nashua mills, a blanket factory, where he was a placement marker. Continuing his employ in the Gate City, he went to work with the Nashua Corp., the outstanding printing, paper and specialty print company in Nashua, as a security guard. He remained with the company for some 23 years before his retirement in 1972.
He had resided in Hampton Beach for more than 30 years. He was a kind and giving gentleman who was always willing to help others. A onetime gentleman farmer in Nashua, he enjoyed raising pigs and other livestock. A market gardener, his crops and produce were raised and sold to help and support the family and their expenses. He loved the outdoors, and the times spent on the farm were memories he treasured.
In later years, times at Hampton Beach, especially during the summer and with his family, made him the happiest. Armand was very fortunate to have shared a special relationship with his grandson, Shawn A. Pelletier, and his wife Shawna and their children. This bond established between them was truly amazing and something that Shawn and his family will be grateful for and always cherish.
In addition to his wife of 70 years, Irene of Hampton Beach, for whom he cared so lovingly up to the time of his death, survivors include his sons, Armand J. Pelletier Jr. of Nashua and George Pelletier and his wife Anne of Tyngsboro, Mass.; six grandchildren, including Shawn and his wife Shawna of Hampton; and six great-grandchildren, including Tyler, Ryan, Jessica and Sarah.
He was predeceased by his nine brothers and sisters.
PELLETIER - Armand Pelletier Sr., 91, of 27 River Ave., Hampton Beach, and formerly of Main Dunstable Road, Nashua, died peacefully Sept. 6, 2002. Family and friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 o’clock this evening (Sunday) at the Robert K. Gray Jr. Funeral Home, 24 Winnacunnet Road, Hampton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Arthur Edmund Baca
PORTSMOUTH - Well-attended memorial services for Arthur Edmund Baca (Eddie Howard), of Portsmouth, were held on Saturday at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel in Portsmouth. Words of reflection were given by Eddie’s aunt, Michelle Colgan; his uncle Dennis Shanahan; his aunt and uncle Dan and Kathy Shanahan; his friend and the mother of his children, Kelly Doll; and his lifelong friend Dave Oesa.
Nello J. "Neil" Strocchio
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Nello J. "Neil" Strocchio, 84, formerly of Lawrence, Mass., died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002.
Born in Lawrence, Mass., he graduated from Lawrence High School, where he was a member of the football, basketball and baseball teams, and was recognized as a star athlete by induction into its hall of fame on April 17, 1993. Neil umpired with the AAA International Baseball League and umpired baseball games on the East Coast for many years.
He was a member of the Boys Club for many years and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was also a member of the Pontiac Club.
He was employed by Jackson Lumber for several years. More recently, he was employed by the DPW, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rose (Patane) Strocchio, of Delray Beach; a son, Joseph J. Coletta Jr. of Hampton, N.H.; his brother Val Strocchio of Reno, Nev.; grandchildren Laurie and her husband, Mac Alexson, of Delray Beach, and Michael Trotter and his wife, Heidi, of Salina, Kan.; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Alexson, and Austin and Andie Marie Trotter; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Joyce Marie Trotter; and his brother Gerry Strocchio.
STROCCHIO - Nello J. "Neil" Strocchio, 84, of Delray Beach, Fla., formerly of Lawrence, Mass., died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen, Mass. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Holy Rosary Church. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Mausoleum in Lawrence.
Michael T. Kostandin
PORTSMOUTH - Michael T. Kostandin, 76, of 188 Jones Ave., died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at Sunbridge Healthcare of Portsmouth.
Born in Leskovike, Albania, on June 28, 1926, he was a son of the late Theodore J. and Irene (Thomas) Kostandin. He immigrated to the United States with his family when he was three years old in 1929. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed at the Brezner Tannery in Penacook for 20 years.
He enjoyed fishing and playing bingo. Survivors include his four children, Theodore M. Kostandin and his wife, Susan K., of Hampstead, Tessie M. Kostandin of Claremont, John A. Kostandin and his wife, Debbie M., of Glendale, Ariz., and Michael P. Kostandin and his wife, Eileen J., of Somersworth; his former wife and the mother of his children, Rosina Perkins of Dover; 11 grandchildren, Matthew Kostandin of Hampstead, Sherrea Dow of Claremont, Michael Gorey of Barrington, Candy Sanborn of Claremont, Danny Upton of Claremont, John A. Kostandin Jr. of Glendale, Ariz., Dennis L. Kostandin of Glendale, Ariz., Joseph M. Book of Glendale, Ariz., Manda Kostandin of Somersworth, Andrew Kostandin of Somersworth, and Jacob Kostandin of Somersworth; seven great-grandchildren, Steven, Heather, Corey, Jennifer, Jesse, Shealyn, and Tessie; sister Margaret Labbe and her husband, Robert, of Huntsville, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A brother, Paul T.; and a sister, Jennifer, predeceased him.
KOSTANDIN - Michael T. Kostandin, 76, of 188 Jones Ave., Portsmouth, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth, with visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. - one hour prior to the service. Friends are invited. Committal services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday in Woodlawn Cemetery, Penacook. Marilyn E. Powell
WILTON - Marilyn E. Powell, 64, formerly of Exeter and Beverly, Mass., died peacefully at home after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
She was born on April 7, 1938, in East Boston, Mass., daughter of the late Clarence E. and Mary E. (Sampson) Powell. She was a 1955 graduate of Revere High School in Revere, Mass.
She had retired after many years as a waitress in the North Shore area. She was a skilled crafts maker, needleworker and seamstress.
She is survived by her children, Robin M Spaziani of Londonderry, Russell D. Spaziani of Danvers, Mass., David S. Spaziani of San Mateo, Calif., and Jennifer L. Spaziani of Wilton; brothers Edward T. Powell of Lady Lake, Fla., and Stephen R. Powell of Saugus, Mass.; nine grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
POWELL - Marilyn E. Powell, 64, of Wilton, formerly of Exeter, died peacefully at home. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at the Laurel Hill Cemetery on Abbott Hill Road in Wilton. Roland Laverdiere
PORTSMOUTH - Roland (Junior) Laverdiere, 79, of 51 Rockingham Ave., died on Sept. 8, 2002, at the Mark Wentworth Nursing Home.
He was born on June 21, 1923, in Laurierville, Quebec, and was the son of Alyre and Marie-Marthe (St. Pierre) Laverdiere. He was educated in the Manchester school system before moving to Portsmouth in 1951.
For 38 years he was a shipwright in Shop 64 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. After retiring from the Navy yard in 1979, he worked as a self-employed carpenter, building his own home, and enjoyed working on various home projects with his children. He was a devoted husband and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren as often as possible.
He was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church and a member of the choir since its inception. He also was a member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 1749 of New Hampshire.
An Army veteran of World War II, he earned awards such as the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign and the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign with a bronze star, as well as several other campaign ribbons and medals. He also served in Japan, in the Army of occupation after the war.
He was the husband of Irene (Lamy) Laverdiere of Portsmouth for 52 years (married in 1944).
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Richard Laverdiere of Portsmouth, Andre Laverdiere and his wife, Becki, of Eliot, Maine, and Robert Laverdiere and his wife, Jean, of Newmarket; two daughters, Priscille Laverdiere of Somersworth, and Lisa Laverdiere of Stratham; seven grandchildren, Amanda St. Lawrence of Dover, Nicole (St. Lawrence) Upton and her husband, Jeff, of Eliot, Maine, Shaun St. Lawrence and his wife, Crystal, of Plainville, Conn., Renee and Monica Laverdiere of Eliot, Maine, and Valerie and Peter Laverdiere of Newmarket; two sisters, Laurette Giovagnoli of Manchester, and Carmen Courchesne of Florida.
A brother, Armand; and a sister, Therese Daneault, predeceased him.

Elizabeth Morgridge
BATH, Maine - Elizabeth Morgridge, 78, of Dike Landing Road, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at her residence.
She was born in Boston, Mass., on Aug. 10, 1924, a daughter of Harry W. Sr. and Amy E. (Norton) Shejen.
She attended York schools and married William H. Morgridge Sr. on Oct. 6, 1972. They lived in Dover, N.H., for several years and resided in Florida for many years. They most recently moved to Bath.
She is survived by her husband, William H. Morgridge Sr., of Bath; two daughters, Marie A. Hammond and Diane E. Plummer, both of Bath; three brothers, Harry Shejen of York, Daniel Shejen of Hope, and Earl Shejen of York; one sister, Winifred Brayton of Homosassa Springs, Fla.; two grandchildren, Michelle Peck and Albert Plummer Jr.; two great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Sharon Sunbury of Bath.
MORGRIDGE - Elizabeth Morgridge, 78, of Bath, Maine, died Sept. 8, 2002. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002. in Pine Hill Cemetery in Dover. Arrangements are by Mayo, Curtis & Hill Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath, Maine.
Iona G. Hachey
KITTERY, Maine - A graveside committal service and burial were held at Orchard Grove Cemetery for Iona Gladys Hachey, 96, who died Sept. 3, 2002, at her home in Summerville, S.C. She had been a longtime resident of the Kittery area.
The Rev. Stan Rockafellow, pastor of the Eliot Baptist Church, conducted services. Words of remembrance were given by her granddaughter Sharon Cressey and her great-granddaughter Melissa Cressey, as well as her daughter-in-law Lee Plante.
Mrs. Hachey was the widow of William Plante and Herbert J. Hachey. She was also predeceased by a son, Courtney Plante.
She is survived by a son, Stedman W. Plante of Indian Lake, Fla.; two daughters, Phyllis R. Doucette of Kittery, and Judith R. Famorca of Summerville, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Steven Plante of New Hampshire, Philip Doucette of Kittery, Sharon Doucette-Cressey of South Berwick, Laura Mallory Stouffer of Summerville, S.C., John E. Mallory of Port Huron, Mich., Sharon D. Mallory of Port Huron, Mich., Valerie Plante-Roberson of Summerville, S.C., and Mark A. Famorca, of Summerville, S.C.; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Doris B. Doldt
HAMPTON - Doris B. (Glenn) Doldt, 80, formerly of Hyde Park, Mass., died Monday morning, Sept. 9, 2002, at the Seacoast Healthcare facility after a brief illness.
She was born in Great Lakes, Ill., and attended Great Lakes schools. She later settled in the Boston, Mass., area.
She was a retired executive secretary with Gilmore & Rothery & Co. in the insurance industry.
She was a late member of the George Conley Home & School Association, Fire Wives Association, and Propavius Club.
She was the widow of the late Raymond R. Doldt.
She is survived by one daughter, Margaret B. Creighton of Danville; one son, Russell Doldt of Hyde Park, Mass.; three grandchildren, Joseph, Karen and Christopher; and three great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jillian and Christopher.
DOLDT - Doris B. Doldt, 80, of Hampton, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Sacred Heart Church, 169 Cummins Highway, Roslindale, Mass. Interment will be at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree, Mass. Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Laughlin, Nichols & Pennacchio Funeral Home, 34 Oak St., Hyde Park, Mass.
Carol Barker
BERWICK, Maine - A graveside committal service and burial for Carol Barker, who died Sept. 4, 2002, was held Monday afternoon. Prayers were recited at the Wilson-Cooper Funeral Home in Kittery on Sunday evening during visitation hours and prior to the cemetery services.
Pallbearers were Michael, David and Kenneth Albert, Michael and Merritt Sutton, and Edward Nedeau. A time of refreshments and sharing was held at the home of Marjorie Barker. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wilson-Cooper Funeral Home, 21 Rogers Road, Kittery.

PORTSMOUTH - A funeral service for Emerald D. (Ward) Turbyne was held Monday at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel in Portsmouth. The Rev. Dawn A. Shippee, pastor of the North Congregational Church in Portsmouth, officiated. In attendance were members of the North Congregational Church, representatives from the Edgewood Centre, and many friends and neighbors. Burial was in Harmony Grove Cemetery in Portsmouth, with committal services by the Rev. Shippee. Bearers were Jeff Stuart, John Stuart, Brian Stuart, Michael Stuart, Jason Stone, William Coffey, Chris Coffey, and Matt Stone.

Mary Carey
OCALA, Fla. - Mary Carey, 80, died peacefully on Sept. 10, 2002, at her home. She was the mother of Diane Teska of Newmarket, N.H.
She was born June 29, 1922, in Holyoke, Mass., to Madeline and James Cullen and attended schools in Pittsfield, Mass.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Edward; and four daughters, Diane of Newmarket, N.H., Patricia Innes of Ocala, Maureen Giglio of Westin, and Jeanne McKeene of Delray; siblings Madeline Simpson of Holyoke, Mass., Theresa Bannon of North Andover, Mass., Gerald Cullen of Moultonboro, N.H., Kay McCutcheon of West Barnstable, Mass., and John Cullen of Holyoke, Mass.
Her husband and children, along with many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were with her at her passing.
A memorial bench will be dedicated in her memory at Rainbow Springs Park, which was her favorite site to visit.
