Grace E. Robertshaw
SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - Grace E. Robertshaw, 76, of 114 Mountain Road, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover, N.H., following a sudden illness.
Born in Westfield on Oct. 26, 1925, she was a daughter of George R. and Maude (Little) Kirkpatrick.
She was a riveter during World War II, employed by Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, Calif. She later worked as a stitcher in several area shoe shops and for many years was a self-employed carpenter.
She returned to South Berwick three years ago after having lived in Moultonborough, N.H., for several years.
Family members include her husband of 37 years, E. Thomas Robertshaw of South Berwick; one son, Michael G. Anderson and his wife, Nancy, of South Berwick; three daughters, Linda L. Long and her husband, Joel, of Cary Plantation, L. Marie Letourneau and her husband, Robert, of Eliot, and Joanne A. Anderson and her husband, William, of South Berwick; three sisters, Bernice Economos of Rollinsford, N.H., Alice Chagnon of Rollinsford, N.H., and Shirley Miller of Hodgdon; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Kenneth, Roger, Philip, and George Kirkpatrick; and a sister, Mamie Jasiek.

William J. Hathaway
PORTSMOUTH - William James "Bill" Hathaway, 81, of 45 Suzanne Drive, and formerly of Rye, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at the Sunbridge Nursing Home in Portsmouth, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Rye on Nov. 17, 1920, a son of Albert and Margaret (MacDonald) Hathaway.
After serving with the Civilian Conservation Corps., he worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. During World War II, he proudly served with the U.S. Army 24th Infantry Division as a combat soldier. He participated in the U.S. landing on Mindanao and later was part of the occupation forces in Japan, where he received his honorable discharge as a staff sergeant.
A resident of Rye for many years, he was employed at Tibbetts' Garage until he established his own businesses, Hathaway's Phillips "66" Gas Station in Portsmouth and Hathaway's Oil Company in Rye. He also retired from National Sea Products in Portsmouth and had worked part-time for the town of Rye.
He was a 50-year member of the Seacoast Memorial Post #8942, VFW, of Rye, and enjoyed hunting, boating, gardening, NASCAR racing and the company of his loving family.
He is survived by a daughter, Joni L. Workman and her husband, Roy, of Portsmouth; three sons, William A. Hathaway and his wife, Linda, of Somersworth, Don W. Hathaway and his wife, Brenda, of Chester, and Jim Hathaway and his wife Pam, of Portsmouth; two brothers, Calvin Hathaway of Rye, and Samuel Hathaway of Hooksett; grandchildren Sheri Reed of Raymond, Maine, Tiese Roscillo of Indianapolis, Ind., Tonia Curry of Greenwood, Ind., Cathie Stanley of Derry, Joy Mueller of Portsmouth, James Hathaway of Chester, and Jake Hathaway and Lauren Hathaway of Portsmouth; eight great-grandchildren; a cherished niece, Cheryl Duffy of Windham, Maine; and many other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Doris L. (Brown) Hathaway; a granddaughter, Kendra (Hathaway) Alexis; and two brothers, Edwin and Albert Hathaway.

Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth. Friends are invited. Norma C. Dobie
HAMPTON - Norma C. Dobie, 76, of Hampton, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at the Exeter Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born in Worcester, Mass., on Feb. 7, 1926, the daughter of the late Earl and Esther (Hosey) Green.
She was a graduate of Cushing Academy in Worcester and had resided in Hampton since 1967, having moved from Arlington, Mass.
She was active with the Second Wind Program affiliated with the Portsmouth Hospital. She was an avid skier, loved the beach and enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening.
She was the wife of the late Samuel J. Dobie, who died in 1966.
Family members include two daughters, Sheila L. Dobie of Portsmouth and Mary-Ann Zaino of Hampton; four grandchildren, Bret, Tom, Samantha and Kim; and two great-grandchildren.
A private funeral was held Monday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory. Graveside services were conducted in the High Street Cemetery. The Rev. John MacKenzie, associate pastor at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, officiated. If desired, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Jampal R. Furry
NORTHWOOD - Jampal Dennis Ralph Furry, 62, of Newman Drive, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 9, 2002, in the company of family and friends.
He was born Feb. 13, 1940, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Robert and Frieda (Deidrich) Furry. He was the stepson of Walter Idiens.
He was a dedicated teacher throughout his life. He taught social studies and coached tennis for 20 years at the Whittier Regional Vocational Technical School in Haverhill, Mass., and was named teacher of the year.
He was a certified instructor for the Healing Tao and was founder of the Red Lotus School of Tai Chi and Chi King. Through his involvement with Tai Chi, he taught in Europe and studied in China. As an instructor, he led his students to China three times to study. A practicing Tibetan Buddhist, he encouraged reflection on the precepts of compassion and living kindness, which are qualities that will remain with those he has left behind. He enjoyed nature and meditation and often combined these with his Tai Chi School during meditative retreats.
He is survived by his wife, Lun Lun Choy-Furry of Northwood; five daughters, Leslie, Kaylin, Carson, Jennifer and Jamie; and three grandchildren, Allison, Dylan and Rafael.
Services were held Tuesday, March 12, 2002. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Central New England Chapter, 101 First Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02454.

Clara Gale
HAMPTON - The funeral for Clara Gale, 102, formerly of Exeter Road, who died March 4, 2002, was held Saturday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory. The Rev. Carroll Moore, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiated. Jean Goss was organist, and Virginia Taylor offered words of remembrance. Among the many friends in attendance were a delegation of Hampton town officials, members of St. James Masonic Lodge #102 F & AM, Hampton Monday Club, Order of Eastern Star members and Grange members. Burial followed in the High Street Cemetery, with the committal service conducted by the Rev. Moore. Pallbearers included Rob Cook, and representing St. James Lodge were Andrew Hirst, Robert Schreier, Paul Kelley, Roger Labrecht and former State Rep. Kenneth Malcolm. Eastern Star services were conducted Friday evening at the funeral home by Orient Chapter #22 of Exeter in conjunction with Tide Mill Chapter #67 of Hampton, which included Worthy Matron, Jayne Brown, P.M.; Worthy Patron, Gordon Webb, P.P.; Chaplain, Robert A. Brown, P.G.P.; Adah, Marcia B. Roberts, P.G.M.; Ruth, Donna Oakes; Esther, Virginia Taylor; Martha, A. Carol Webb, P.M.; Electa, Estelle "Dusty" Decatur, Gr. Electa; and Marshal, Lucia Savage, P.M. Grange services were also conducted at the funeral home, with many members of area granges participating under the direction of Laura Eld, Master, and Dorothy Rogers, Chaplain.
Katherine M. Janvrin
HAMPTON - The funeral for Katherine M. Janvrin, 96, of 340 Lafayette Road, who died March 6, 2002, was held Monday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. The Rev. Michael J. Griffin, senior priest, was the celebrant. Nelson K. Ward was organist, and Patricia Mackensen was soloist. Altar servers were members of the Holy Name Society. The first reading was proclaimed by Denise Breen, who also offered the eulogy. Sister Theresa Malouin, C.S.C., offered the Prayer of the Faithful, and Michael Breen proclaimed the second reading. The Responsorial Psalm was offered by Sister Doris Ouellette, C.S.C. Sarah and Leah Sherr presented the gifts to the altar. Burial followed in the High Street Cemetery, with the committal service conducted by the Rev. Griffin. Pallbearers were Paul Sherr, Benjamin Sherr, Michael Breen, Michael Rogers, Philip Rogers and Jay Dube.
Emma M. Ketterer
HAMPTON - Emma M. Ketterer, 95, formerly of New Jersey, died Friday, March 8, 2002, at the Edgewood Centre in Portsmouth.
She was born in southern Germany on May 9, 1906, and attended schools there.
Emigrating to the U.S.A. in 1929, she worked for a number of households in New York City and New Jersey, as well as for Bamberger's department store in Newark, N.J. She and her late husband, Valentine, lived in Irvington, N.J., before moving to Hillside, N.J., 58 years ago.
She was a homemaker and active in civic activities in Hillside for many years. She was a member of the Saybrook and A.P. Morris PTA, a member of the Women's Club of Hillside and a member of the Hillside Historical Society. She also enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, music and reading. She moved to Hampton six months ago.
She was the wife of Valentine Ketterer, who died in 1985.
Family members include one son, Arthur Ketterer of New Jersey; a daughter, Hannelore Roesch of Hampton; three grandchildren, Ensign Peter Ketterer, Michael Ketterer and Benjamin Roesch; a sister, Lore Dihlmann of Germany; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a son, Erich Ketterer; and a son-in-law, Francis Roesch.
KETTERER - Emma M. Ketterer, 95, formerly of New Jersey, died Friday, March 8, 2002. Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. The family requests that there be no visiting hours and that flowers please be omitted. Robert E. Lindholm
LONGWOOD, Fla. - Robert E. Lindholm, 79, of Carlton Street, died of heart failure on March 9, 2002.
Born in Lindsborg, Kan., he had worked as a sales engineer for General Electric and was a member of the Lutheran faith.
He was also a member of the V.F.W., the Elks Club, the National Rifle Association, the U.S. Golf Association and the Rolling Hills Golf Club.
In addition to his wife, Mary Jane Lindholm of Longwood, he is survived by two daughters, Marcia Bittenbender of Winter Park, Fla., and Connie Johnson of Wallingford, Vt.; three sons, Robert A. Lindholm of Dover, N.H., Jon B. Lindholm of Farmington, Conn., and Thomas R. Lindholm of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Warren E. McDonald
RAYMOND - Warren "Laddie" E. McDonald, 41, of Cilley Road, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester from injuries sustained in a work-related accident.
He was born on Dec. 26, 1960, in Manchester, son of Robert J. McDonald and Amanda (Purington) Robertson.
He was a lifelong resident of Raymond and Deerfield and attended the Raymond school system.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
For the past year and a half, he had been working at LaPier Builders in Auburn. Formerly, he was employed for six years by Imes Broadcasting Co. of Columbus, Ohio, owner of WMUR, as a broadcast engineer.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to camp, fish and hunt.
He was predeceased by one brother, William Godbout.
He is survived by his son, James McDonald of Deerfield; his father, Robert J. McDonald of Maine; his mother and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence (Amanda) Robertson of Raymond; his maternal grandparents, Leonard "Bud" and Pearl Purington of Deerfield; two brothers, Walter "Dan" McDonald of Goffstown, and Bobby McDonald of Haverhill, Mass.; five sisters, Nadine McDonald of Alexandria, Mrs. Robert (Jennifer) Stringer of Loudon, Amadee Cottrell of New Hampshire, Pamela Vieger of Lynn, Mass., and Mariah McDonald of Beverly, Mass.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and one aunt and one uncle.
McDONALD - Warren "Laddie" E. McDonald, 41, of Raymond, died March 10, 2002. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at the Brewitt Funeral Home, on the Common, in Raymond. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2002, at the Raymond Methodist Church. Pastor Kwan Lee will officiate. Burial will follow in the Old Center Cemetery, Deerfield. Catherine E. McLaughlin
RYE BEACH - The funeral for Catherine E. "Kay" McLaughlin, 77, of Quincy, Mass., and Rye Beach, who died March 5, 2002, was held Saturday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Theresa Church. The Rev. Maurice Lavigne, pastor, was the celebrant. Marjorie Scully was organist, and Mary Louise Arcidi was cantor and soloist. Salvatore DiVincenzo was altar server. The pall was placed over the casket by James McLaughlin and Patricia Bossart, children of Mrs. McLaughlin. The readings were proclaimed by Joseph Harding and Michael Hickey, and the Prayer of the Faithful was offered by Barbara McLaughlin. The presentation of the gifts to the altar was performed by the grandchildren, Jeffrey, Kevin and Katherine Bossart. Burial followed in the Central Cemetery, with the rite of committal conducted by the Rev. Lavigne. Pallbearers were Kevin Bossart, Jeffrey Bossart, Robert Bossart, John Devaney, Joseph Harding and William McLaughlin.
Earl F. Johnson

EXETER - The funeral for Joseph C. Lutz of Exeter was held Monday from the Stockbridge Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael's Church. The Rev. Marc B. Drouin, pastor, was the celebrant. The pall was placed on the casket by Mr. Lutz's wife, Marie, and his children, Joseph Jr., Erika and Daniella. The readings were by Joyce Lapointe and the altar servers were Joseph Latour, Al Markey and Mary Grillo. Pallbearers were Joseph Lutz Jr., Gregory Lutz, Christopher Lutz, William Palmer, Steven Scrudato and Herbert Schiller. Private burial was in the Center Cemetery, North Hampton.
Lucille R. Wiggin
EXETER - Lucille R. (Hebert) Wiggin, 78, of 3 Bonnie Drive, died after a long illness on Sunday, March 10, 2002.
A native of Epping, she was born Sept. 14, 1923, daughter of George and Florida (Barnaby) Hebert.
She was a graduate of Epping High School in the Class of 1942 and was class salutatorian.
She retired from the Comptroller Department at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1980 after 37 years of service.
She was a member of St. Michael's Church.
She was also a former member and founder of the women's leagues at the Exeter Country Club in the 1960s. She was also a former member of the Portsmouth Country Club and an honorary member of the Women's Golf League of New Hampshire.
She had a membership to the North Shore Music Theater for 15 years and was a member of NARFE.
She leaves her husband of 54 years, Alan Wiggin of Exeter; two sisters, Irene LeBlanc and Evelyn Belanger, both of Exeter; and nieces and nephews.
WIGGIN - Lucille R. (Hebert) Wiggin, 78, of Exeter, died Sunday, March 10, 2002. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday from St. Michael's Church, with burial to follow in the Exeter Cemetery. Jo Laurel Webber
RICHMOND, Va. - Jo Laurel Webber, 53, formerly of Kittery, Maine, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, after a two-year battle with cancer.
She was born Jan. 25, 1949, and raised in Kittery. She was the daughter of the late Gordon Douglas Webber and Ruth Perkins Webber. She graduated from Traip Academy, Class of 1967, and attended the University of Tampa in Florida.
She worked for the Internal Revenue Service for many years in Portsmouth, N.H., Burlington, Vt., and Richmond, Va.
She had resided in the Richmond area for the past eight years. A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place later this summer at a time and place to be announced.
She was the beloved sister and sister-in-law of Karen and Don Brooks of Federal Way, Wash.
WEBBER - Jo Laurel Webber, 53, of Richmond, Va., and formerly of Kittery, Maine, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, in Richmond. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held later this summer in Kittery, at a time and place to be announced. Gerard R. Drapeau
MANCHESTER - Gerard R. Drapeau, 69, of 227 Alexander Drive, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester.
He was born in Berlin, N.H., on May 16, 1932, the son of Romeo and Florence (Valliere) Drapeau and had been a resident of Manchester for the past 33 years. He was the meat supervisor for the First National Grocery Stores for 32 years. He later worked 13 years for Super Value Inc.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the American Legion Sweeney Post No. 2 and belonged to the National Rifle Association.
He was the husband for 48 years of Yvette (Leclerc) Drapeau of Manchester.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Denis M. and his wife Marsha Drapeau of Barrington; a daughter, Elaine D. Drapeau of Alexandria, Va.; two brothers, Maurice Drapeau of Georgia and Roland Drapeau of Berlin, N.H.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
DRAPEAU - Gerard R. Drapeau, 69, of Alexander Drive, Manchester, died March 9, 2002. Relatives and friends are welcomed to a memorial Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Pius X Church. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the N.H. William F. Lynch
PORTSMOUTH - William Francis Lynch, 80, also of East Wakefield, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Boston, Mass., on Dec. 8, 1921, a son of the late James J. and Mary (Charbonnier) Lynch. He grew up in Medford, Mass., and moved to New Hampshire in 1957. He had spent summers at Belleau Lake in East Wakefield since 1968.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was wounded in action in France. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
He was employed as a flight attendant for Eastern Air Lines for more than 30 years, retiring in 1981. In the early 1970s he was selected to serve as chief purser for Eastern's Boeing 747 service from New York.
He was an active parishioner of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Portsmouth and attended St. Joseph Church in Center Ossipee.
He was a devoted father, grandfather and dog owner. He loved meeting people and cooking and was an avid do-it-yourselfer.
In addition to his wife of 44 years, Eleanor (Killough) Lynch, he is survived by two sons, Thomas P. Lynch of Nashua and Timothy F. Lynch of Portsmouth; a brother and sister, Francis P. (Mike) Lynch and Joan A. Carney, both of Medford, Mass.; a grandson, Michael F. Lynch of Nashua; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, James and Joseph Lynch, both of Charlestown, Mass.
LYNCH - William F. Lynch, 80, of Portsmouth, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002.
