F. Corrine Rich
LAGUNA WOODS, Calif. - F. Corrine Rich of Laguna Woods, formerly of Kittery, Maine and Wolfeboro, N.H., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at her home.
She was the second daughter of Francis L. and Annie E. (Rounds) Hatch. She was born in Kittery, Maine on April 18, 1915, and attended local schools, graduating from Traip Academy, Class of 1932. She furthered her education at Simmons College and the Boston Cooking School.
For many years she resided in Wolfeboro, N.H. A local business woman, she was a principal in an electric and plumbing business and at Kings Pine Lodges. She was active in the Grange and was a past regent of Winnepasaukee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her husband, Edgar C. Rich; a son, Whitney Nelson; two sisters, Carolyn Pomerleau, and Constance and her husband, Bruce Herron, all of Kittery, Maine; three stepdaughters, Patricia and Geriann Rich of Covina, Calif., and Maryann and her husband, Paul Salazar of Colusa, Calif.
RICH - F. Corinne Rich of Laguna Woods, Calif., died Jan. 30, 2002. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Local arrangements by the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home in Kittery.
Yolande Doherty
PORTSMOUTH - Yolande 'Dodi' Doherty, 72, of 140 Court St., passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Edgewood Centre.
Born in Nashua, N.H., Nov. 20, 1929, she was the daughter of Amedee and Eulalia (Mizo) Fournier, and had been a resident of Portsmouth since 1959.
She was employed for many years in the food service program at Dondero School. She was an avid bingo player and member of St. James Church and the Ave Maria Guild.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Thomas V. Doherty; a daughter, Janet M. (Doherty) Keefe of Kittery, formerly of Portsmouth; a grandson, Patrick Thomas Keefe; one sister, Lorraine Fistola of Hyde Park, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Erin Maria Keefe, a sister Gloria Vinciguerra, and a brother, Edgar Fournier.
DOHERTY - Yolande 'Dodi' Doherty, 72, of 140 Court St., Portsmouth, N.H., died Feb. 1, 2002. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. James Church, Tuesday at 10 a.m. Visiting hours are at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth, on Monday, from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., Fifth Floor, Boston, MA 02210.
Ralph D. Clugey
NORTH HAMPTON - The funeral for Ralph D. Clugey, 71, of 71 South Road, who died Jan. 28, 2002, was held Friday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton. The Rev. Maurice Lavigne, pastor of St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach, officiated. Jean Goss was organist.
Burial followed in the Center Cemetery with the committal service conducted by Father Lavigne. The U.S. flag that draped the casket was folded by personnel provided by the United States Air Force and presented to Mr. Clugey's widow, Catherine M. (Reardon) Clugey. Taps was sounded.
Pallbearers were Michael Cook, Jeff Palm, Kevin O'Grady, Scott Johnson and Jack Reardon.
Naomi Ranguette
PORTSMOUTH - Mrs. Naomi "Ruth" (Reed) Ranguette, 66, of 42 Cutts St., passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at home with her family.
She was born in Kansas City, Kan., Aug. 19, 1935, the daughter of the late Edward and Myrtle (Keith) Reed. Mrs. Ranguette attended high school in Independence, Mo., and college at McIntosh College in Dover. She was proprietor of Chipmunk Office Services in Portsmouth until her retirement in 2001.
She loved to play bingo, read, spend time with her grandchildren and crochet or knit gifts for family and friends.
She was the wife for 14 years of Joseph A. Ranguette.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her children, Steven Golnik of Little Rock, Ark., Deborah McNally of Barrington, Rebecca McKnight of Berwick, Maine, Matthew McKnight of Wainai, Hawaii, Daniel McKnight of Lowell, Mass., Joe Clark of Oxford, Maine, Steve Clark of Pawtucket, R.I., Michael Ranguette of Milton, and Arthur Ranguette of Portsmouth; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her stepmother, Helen Reed; and aunts and uncles in Kansas and Washington.
RANGUETTE - Mrs. Naomi "Ruth" (Reed) Ranguette, 66, of 42 Cutts St., Portsmouth, passed away Feb. 1, 2002. A funeral service will be held at the Barrington Evangelical Free Church, Route 126, Barrington, on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Friends invited. Visiting hours will be held at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home— Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth, on Mon. from 6 to 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted.
Virginia A. Baillargeon
EXETER - Virginia A. Baillargeon, 72, of 6 Powder Mill Road died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Exeter Hospital.
Born July 19, 1929, in Derry, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Eunice (Call) Larkin.
She lived in Exeter for most of her life and was a graduate of Robinson Female Seminary. She attended the University of New Hampshire.
She worked at the former Exeter Clinic for 38 years as an administrative assistant. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. She enjoyed reading, bicycling, jogging and camping.
She was the wife of Joseph A. Baillargeon of Exeter for 51 years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include four sons, Joseph A. Baillargeon Jr. and his wife Gloria of Exeter, Peter Baillargeon of Exeter, Mark Baillargeon and his wife Elizabeth of Newmarket, and Roger Baillargeon and his wife Barbara McEvoy of Stratham; one daughter, Michelle Small and her husband Charles of Exeter; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Tuttle of Epping; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Joshua Baillargeon; and two sisters, Alma Marion and Barbara Larkin.
BAILLARGEON - Virginia A. Baillargeon of 6 Powder Mill Road, Exeter, died Jan. 31, 2002. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church, Front Street, Exeter, on Monday at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Sunday, 1-5 p.m. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. Allen V. Smith Jr.
EPPING - Largely attended funeral services were held Saturday morning for Allen V. Smith Jr., 45, of Fisher Drive, who died suddenly on Jan. 28, 2002.
Services were held from the Epping Community Church with the Rev. Wayne Van Gundy, pastor, officiating. A close friend of the family, Arelia Desisle, sang "Wind Beneath My Wings."
Included in the attendance headed by Bart Maderio were many employees from Northern Utilities and the United Steel Workers Union.
On Friday evening at the Brewitt Funeral Home in Epping, members of General John Sullivan Lodge F&AM of Epping, representing his home lodge of Gov. William King No 219 of Scarborough, Maine, held their memorial service under the direction of Worthy Master Dennis George of Epping.
Bearers were all co-workers of Allen from Northern Utilities: Frank Northrup, Andy McLaughlin, Davis P. Emerton, Bart McAuliffo, Jeff Sawyer and Bruce Timmerman.
Gladys A. Berard
WELLS, Maine - Gladys Arlene Berard, 71, resident of Thompson Street, died on Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at York Hospital following a long illness.
She was born Jan. 20, 1931, in Providence, R.I., and attended schools there.
She was a resident of Wells for 28 years, coming from Providence.
She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed listening to many different types of music. She also enjoyed camping with her husband and spending time with her poodles Penny, Georgie and Ginny.
She was the wife of Clarence Berard of Wells for 54 years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one daughter, Nancy Bridges of Wells; and one granddaughter.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Genevieve Sylvestre and Katherine Pennington.
Services are private. Spring interment will be in Ocean View Cemetery, Wells. Should friends desire, donations may be made in her memory to the Leukemia Society of America, 2900 Eisenhower Ave., Suite 419, Alexandria, VA 22314.
Paula O'Brien
ELIOT, Maine - Memorial services for Paula (Pridham) O'Brien, of Eliot, were held on Saturday at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel in Portsmouth, N.H. The Rev. Real J. Nadeau, pastor of St. Raphael's Church in Kittery, officiated. Words of remembrance were given by Sister Kate from St. Raphael's Church.
Robert C. Parnham
PORTSMOUTH - Robert Churchill Parnham, 86, of 85 Leslie Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Portsmouth on March 28, 1915, a son of Arthur and Ida (Churchill) Parnham, he was a graduate of Portsmouth High School with the Class of 1933.
He was employed for 37 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Shop, #56, retiring as supervisor.
He enjoyed hunting and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Betty (McCarthy) Parnham; a daughter, Althea Moquin and her husband, Ray, of Newmarket; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Carrick and her husband, Don, of Portland, Ore.; a stepson, William Powell and his wife, Ann, of Pinellas Park, Fla.; a brother, Richard V. Parnham and his wife, Rose, of Portsmouth; a sister, Alta Varney and her husband, Wesley, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Edna (Chevery) Parnham; a son, Robert V. Parnham; a brother, Earl Parnham; and a sister, Ida McKenna.
PARNHAM - Robert C. Parnham, 86, of Leslie Drive, Portsmouth, died Feb. 2, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth. Visiting hours are from 6 to 8 this evening. Rita M. Tole
RYE - Rita M. Tole, 82, of 195 Grove Road, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital after being stricken ill at her home.
She was born on Sept. 9, 1919, in East Boston, Mass., the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Alice (McDonald) Sweeney. She was a graduate of St. John's School in Cambridge, Mass. She was raised in Somerville, Mass., moving to Melrose, Mass., upon her marriage in 1942. She moved to New York in the 1960s and retired to Rye in the early 1970s.
Family members include her husband of 59 years, Arthur F. Tole; three sons, Robert J. Tole of Bedford, Stephen A. Tole of Darien, Conn., and Richard Tole of Gorham, Maine; six daughters, Mary Claire Snyder of Alexandria, Va., Karen Borgia of Westport, Conn., Christine McGill of Rye, Barbara Krant of Portsmouth, Kathy Corbett of North Hampton, and Paula Tole of Jersey City, N.J.; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
TOLE - Rita M. Tole of 195 Grove Road, Rye, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Theresa's Church, Rye Beach. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Alfonso A. Tarantino III
RYE - Alfonso "Funzi" Aldo Tarantino III, 90, of 9 Frontier St., died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002.
Born July 17, 1911, in Patterson, N.J., Alfonso was the third of 12 children born to the late Alfonso Aldo and Maria (Melluso) Tarantino. He resided in Rye for 35 years with his wife Doris, who died in 1985.
Mr. Tarantino retired from Vallee's Restaurant in 1984 at the age of 72. He enjoyed traveling and went on several cruises, his most favorite trip being Italy in 1986. Since 1969 he has traveled to New York twice a year to attend annual family reunions. He enjoyed playing chess and cards with friends, was a member of the Elks, several breakfast clubs and was an avid New York Yankees fan. His greatest pleasures were dinners surrounded by his family and visits from his brother Alfred.
The father of eight children, he is survived by seven sons and daughters, Cheryl Tarantino, Stephanie Tarantino, Andrea Green, Lisa Donovan, Robert Tarantino, Eric Tarantino and Jerry Tarantino; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, who referred to him as "Grumpy;" three brothers, Alfred, Monty and Ott Tarantino of New York; a sister Jean; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by a son, Bruce Tarantino, also of Rye, in 1985.
TARANTINO - Alfonso "Funzi" Aldo Tarantino, 90, of Rye, died Feb. 2, 2002. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception on Summer Street, Portsmouth, at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Virginia A. Baillargeon
EXETER - The funeral for Virginia A. Baillargeon, 72, of 6 Powder Mill Road, was held Monday from the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael's Church. The Rev. Marc B. Drouin, pastor, was the celebrant, assisted by seminarian Jason Jalbert. Denise Kelly was the organist, and Jennifer Gaines was the soloist. Mrs. Baillargeon's grandchildren, John, Nathan, Jeffrey, Charlie, Charlie, William, Ben, Ian and Zac placed the pall on the casket. The readings were given by Joyce LaPointe. The gifts were presented to the altar by Mrs. Baillargeon's granddaughters, Angel and Emma. Altar servers were Joseph Latour, Al Markey and Brian Stinson. Burial followed in the Exeter Cemetery, with committal prayers by the Rev. Drouin. Pallbearers were John McEvoy, Charlie Small and Nathan, Jeffrey, William, Zac, Ben and Ian Baillargeon.
Albert G. Russell
NEWBURYPORT, Mass. - Albert G. Russell, 70, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport after fighting a long battle with a series of illnesses.
He was the husband of Cecilia A. (Morrill) Russell, with whom he celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary on July 27. Born in Newburyport on March 9, 1931, son of the late Burton and Elizabeth (Thurlow) Russell Sr., he had been a lifelong resident of the city.
A graduate of Newburyport High School, Class of 1950, he began his work in carpentry working for Titus & Todd Builders and later worked for the Atlantic Gelatin Company, which later became Kraft General Foods, in Woburn for more than 32 years.
He enjoyed woodworking and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy Sea Bees. Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Laura L. Reinhold of Epping, N.H., Elizabeth A. Nelson and her husband, Richard, of Kingston, N.H., Albert G. Russell Jr., of Amesbury, and Mary A. Russell of Newburyport; a sister, Margaret Cooper of Norfolk, Va.; a brother-in-law, Ermont Goldsmith (Smokey) of Newburyport; five grandchildren, Andrea Kraus of Epping, N.H., Don Kraus of Florida, Patrick and Alannah Nelson, both of Kingston, N.H., and Robert Reinhold of Epping, N.H.; and cousins James Zafris of Newburyport, and Keith and Peg Walton, both of Newbury.
RUSSELL - Albert G. Russell, 70, of Newburyport, Mass., died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002. Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Simplicity Burial & Cremation Services, 287 High St., Newburyport, followed by a service at 3 p.m.
Kevin T. York
HAMPTON - Kevin T. York, 43, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002.
He was born in Portsmouth on Aug. 1, 1958, a son of Patricia (Bernard) York, of Portland, Maine, and the late Stanley K. York.
He attended Hampton schools and was a graduate of Winnacunnet High School with the Class of 1977.
A veteran, he served with the U.S. Army and later with the U.S. Army Reserve and the Naval Reserve.
He worked as a welder at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
He was predeceased by his father, who died in 1984, and his brother, Stanley K. York Jr., who died in 1990.
In addition to his mother, family members include one sister, Helen Hurd of Quincy, Mass.; one niece, Caitlin; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
YORK - Kevin T. York, 43, of Hampton, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.
Gertrude S. Anderson
FALMOUTH, Maine - Gertrude Sanborn Anderson, 90, a resident of Falmouth by the Sea, formerly of Moody, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at her residence following a long illness.
Mrs. Anderson was born in South Portland, May 27, 1911, a daughter of Daniel A. and Mildred (Runnels) Sanborn.
She was a member of the York/Ogunquit Methodist Church and also belonged to the Cumberland Temple Pythians Sisters, Wells Historical Society, the Mary Martha Circle and worked at the Ogunquit Publicity Bureau for a number of years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard J. Anderson, and also her son Bernard J. Anderson, both in 1964.
She is survived by two sisters, Wenona Cook of Moody, and Murial Patrick of South Gardner; several nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
A graveside service will be held this spring at the Forest City Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Opportunity Farms for Boys, P.O. Box 65, New Gloucester, ME 04260.

Rita M. Tole
RYE - The funeral for Rita M. Tole, 82, wife of Arthur F. Tole of 195 Grove Road, was held Tuesday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home - Crematory of Hampton. A mass of Christian burial was concelebrated at Saint Theresa Church in Rye Beach. The Rev. Maurice Lavigne, pastor, was celebrant, assisted by the Rev. John V. Moran, former pastor. Salvatore DiVincenzo was altar server. Marjorie Scully was organist. Soloists were Mary Louise Arcidi and Mrs. Tole's granddaughter, Bridget Corbett.
Mrs. Tole's nine children placed the pall on her casket, and Mr. Tole placed the Christian symbols. Her sons Richard and Stephen Tole offered the readings, and grandson Sean Tole offered the prayers of the faithful. Her daughters Karen Borgia, Christine McGill, Barbara Krant, Kathy Corbett and Paula J. Tole presented the gifts to the altar. Her son Robert Tole and daughter Mary Claire Snyder offered words of remembrance.
Burial followed in the Central Cemetery with committal prayers conducted by the Rev. Lavigne and the Rev. Moran. Pallbearers, all grandsons, were Jay Snyder, Bryan Borgia, Ryan McGill, Tyler McGill, Matthew Krant, Tanner Corbett, Sean Tole, William Tole and Robert Tole.
