John Dickinson
CENTER OSSIPEE - John Dickinson, 45, of Sunset Place, Center Ossipee, died July 2, 2000, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon after an accident in Center Ossipee.
He was the son of Leona Vinton of Chocorua and Forrest Dickinson Sr. of Chocorua.
He will always be remembered by those lives he touched for his smile, quick humor and willingness to help anyone in need.
He will be greatly missed by his siblings; Joe Dickinson of Conway, Lee Boyle of Wolfeboro, Andrew Dickinson of Claremont and Virginia Dickinson of Chocorua. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Dickinson of Campton, and his maternal grandmother, Leona Madeline Avery of Meredith; several aunts, uncles, cousins, two nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 6, at 10 a.m. at the Lord Funeral Home on Route 28 in Wolfeboro.
Francis L. Gregston
Denmark, Maine - Francis L. Gregston, 72, of Route 160, died July 2, 2000 at his home following a long illness. He was born in Wolf City, Texas on April 28, 1928, the son of Howard and Etta White Gregston.
Gregston served 10 years with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Prior to moving to Denmark, he had lived in Somerville, Mass. He retired in 1991 from the Moir Company in Denmark where he had worked for 30 years repairing electric motors.
Gregston enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his many friends and family. He is survived by six sons; Michael F. of Lewiston, Mt., William H. of North Conway, Patrick S. of Denmark, Kevin T. of Conway, John S. of Hamilton, Mt. and Christopher L. of Venice, Fla.
Also surviving are two grandsons and his former wife, Maureen Sullivan Gregston of Denmark. He was predeceased by four brothers.
It was the request of Mr. Gregston that there be no funeral service.

Leon W. Kennett
LOWELL, Mass. - Leon W. Kennett, Sr., 74, of Dracut, Mass., died July 2, 2000 at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, Mass. after a long illness. Born in Framingham, Mass., the son of Ervil and Lina (Kingsbury) Kennett Sr., he attended schools in Needham, Mass., and Chatham. Kennett lived in Claremont for six years, Tewksbury, Mass., for 33 years and in Farmington, Maine for four years before moving back to Mass. in 1997.
He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Kennett worked in the maintenance department, as a millwright, for Raytheon Corp. for 33 years.
He was an avid fisherman, woodworker, wood carver and Boston Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed his grandchildren very much and he was very active with youth hockey for many years.
The family includes: three sons, Bradley A. Kennett Sr. and his wife Leona of Rangeley, Maine, Gary M. Kennett and his wife Karen of Dracut, Mass., and Leon W. Kennett of Lowell, Mass.; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Kennett) Welton and her husband Brandon of San Angelo, Texas, Bradley A. Kennett Jr. and Jennifer A. Kennett, both of Rangeley, Maine and Leah-Jean Kennett of MErrimack; two great grandchildren, Ian and Brianna Welton, both of San Angelo, Texas; a brother, Charles G. Kennett Sr. of Vergennes, Vt.; two sisters, Natalie Worrey of Glen and Chilla MacDonald of Newbury and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife, Blanche (Jangel) Kennett on Sept. 5, 1977, a brother, Ervil C. Kennett Jr. on August 22, 1988, and a sister, Cora Mae Sisk on Sept. 10, 1984.
Graveside services will be held on tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Kennett Family Cemetery in Center Chatham. Visiting hours will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway.
Donald R. Nason
Wolfeboro - Donald R. Nason, 72, of Pine Hill Road, died June 28, 2000 at his home after a period of failing health. He was born on Aug. 19, 1927 in Sanbornville. The son of the late Fred H. and Evelyn (Weymouth) Nason, he lived in Sanbornville until he married and moved to Wolfeboro in 1950.
During World War II, Nason served in the U.S. Navy, spending part of his duty in Okinowa. He also served with the Wolfeboro Police Department for 14 years as well as the Town of Wolfeboro Highway Department. He was a long time member of the Wolfeboro Fire and Rescue, being assigned as a captain with the ladder company for many years.
He also worked for E.V. Moody Construction in Wolfeboro and most recently with Dow Sand & Gravel in Ossipee. He was a member of the American Legion Harriman Hale Post #18 in Wolfeboro and the Lake Shore Grange in Wolfeboro.
Nason also took great pride in working as an auxiliary trooper with the N.H. State Police for 21 years.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marion (Walter) Nason of Wolfeboro; a son, Walter D. Nason of Wolfeboro; a daughter, Ellen Goss of West Ossipee; four granddaughters; five great grandsons and a brother, Fred E. Nason of Sanbornville. He was predeceased by a daughter, Bonita Nason and a brother, Lawrence Nason.
Calling hours will be on Friday, June 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lord Funeral Home on Route 28 in Wolfeboro. Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 1 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The burial will be private.

Arlene Lois Pecola
CONWAY - Arlene Lois Pecola, 66, of Hobbs Street in Conway, died on July 4, 2000, at the Hospice House in Concord after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1933, in Center Harbor, the daughter of the late Harry and Lois (Copp) Abbott Sr.
She resided in Conway for the last 15 years, and formerly resided in Raymond from 1964 to 1986.
Pecola grew up in North Conway and graduated from Kennett High School. She was employed at Gemini Valve in Raymond and the Eastern Slope Inn in North Conway.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul J. Pecola Sr., who died July 30, 1983; and two brothers, Harry Abbott Jr. and Arnold Abbott.
She is survived by two sons; David (and wife, Ann) Pecola of Hampton, Paul J. (and wife, Claire) Pecola Jr. of Raymond; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Malcolm (and wife, Jane) Abbott of Conway, and George (and wife, Polly) Abbott of Albany; one sister, Frances (and husband, Albert) Turgeon of Princeton, Maine; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on July 8 At 10 a.m. at the Conway Village Cemetery in Conway.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Hospice House, 240 Pleasant Street, Concord, N.H. 03302.

Gerald Michael Rubino
Fryeburg, Maine - Gerald Michael Rubino, 76, of 7 River Street, died June 29, 2000 at Bridgeton Hospital after a long fight with cancer. Gerry was born on July 22, 1923 in Monson, Massachusetts to Michael and Rose Rubino. He grew up in Worcester Massachusetts and was the youngest of five children to first generation immigrate parents. Gerry is a graduate of Commence High School in Worcester. He was employed as a Technical Assistant with John Hancock Insurance Company in Boston, Massachusetts until is retirement in 1983 after 40 years of employment.
Gerry was born a veteran of WWII and the Korean War servicing in both the United States Navy and the United States Coast Guard. He was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal for his participation in Operation Blue Jay for working under severe weather conditions off the Thule Greenland. He was instrumental in the leadership of many civic and community organizations. He was an active member in the following: the OKO's Fireman Association and Bag Pipe Band, the AMVETS, the Gerry #5 Fireman Combat Association and the Disabled American Veterans. Gerry was also a past Commander for the Lovell chapter of the VFW. He was also involved in many volunteer community projects for the town of Fryeburg including the Fryeburg Re-cycling Committee, the Annual Memorial Day Parade and the DARE program.
Gerry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ginny Goulet Rubino of Fryeburg, three sons Michael Rubino of Marblehead, MA, David Rubino of Portland, Paul Rubino of Chesapeake, VA, one brother Arthur Rubino of Spencer, MA, two sisters Camille Monfreda of Worcester, MA, Laura Soloperto of Stuart, FL, and four grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held 1 PM Wednesday July 5, 2000 at the Fryeburg-Lovell VFW Hall in Lovell. Burial will be in Worcester Memorial Park in Paxton, MA - July 8, 2000. Donations may be made in memory of Gerry to the Oncology Clinic at Bridgeton Hospital, or to the Fryeburg Rescue. Arrangements are with Wood Funeral Home of Fryeburg.
Frances Stevens
TAMWORTH - Frances Stevens, 30, of Mountain View Estates Rd., died Sunday July 2, at Lakes Region Hospital In Laconia.
Born April 25, 1920 in Boston, Mass., daughter of the late Chester W. and Marion (Chaffee) Barnard. She grew up in Boston, lived in Lexington, Mass., for many years and lived in Phoenix, Ariz., for 25 years, moving to Tamworth two years ago.
Predeceased by her husband Edward Stevens, a brother Chester S. Barnard late of Winthrop, Mass., and a sister Ruth Farnum late of Arlington, Mass., she is survived by a son, Wayne Sargent Stevens of Sacramento, Calif., a daughter Cynthia Stevens Lamont of Tamworth, a brother Charles H. Barnard of Lorain, Ohio, a sister Phyllis Barnard Testa of Tamworth, and four grandsons.
A Memorial Service will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at the Tamworth Congregational Church in Tamworth.

John H. Targett Jr.
MEREDITH - John H. Targett Jr., 77, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000 at the Golden View Health Care Center where she resided for the past six years. He was born in North Conway, the son of John and Gertrude Howard Targett. He grew up and was educated in Fryeburg, Maine and was a WW II Army veteran.
He worked many years for Diamond National Lumber which later became Bailey Manufacturing. He later moved to Bridgton where he worked for the R. J. Mains Mill. He was a member of Pythagorean Lodge of Masons and the Pythagorean Chapter Order of Eastern Star. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and just being outdoors.
He is survived by one daughter Phyllis Fisher of Moultonboro; three grandchildren, Eric Sparks, Thomas Fisher IV and Emily Fisher.
Visiting hours will be from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Wood Funeral Home in Fryeburg, Maine. Pythagorean Lodge of Masons will conduct a Masonic Service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Fish St. Cemetery.

Everett S. Appleby
TAMWORTH - Everett S. Appleby, 97, of Chinook Trail died June 16, 2000 at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro. He was born October 19, 1902 in Seekonk, Mass., and lived in Swansea, Mass., for many years. In 1991 Appleby moved to Tamworth to live with his daughter, Miriam Appleby.
He was a 1924 graduate of Bryant College and was employed as a controller at Fleet Bank for 50 years.
Appleby was predeceased by his wife Bertha (Farrington) Appleby and is survived by his daughter, Miriam Appleby of Tamworth and a son, Phillip Appleby, Bennington, Vt., six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, June 20 in the Seekonk Cemetery, Seekonk, Mass.
Mildred F. Calley
FRYEBURG, Maine - Mildred F. Calley, 94, formerly of Pequawket Village Fryeburg died Friday June 23, 2000 at the Merriman House in North Conway.
She was born in Somerville Mass. the daughter of Herbert and Hattie Mae Page Moses. She graduated from Somerville High School and upon graduation started work as a secretary at Somerville High School. She also was secretary at Tufts College and Lesley Ellis School. Later in her career she moved on to the executive officers of Lesley College. She lived in Belmont for many years and was active with the Belmont Woman's Club and Bridge Club. She married John Ewart Calley Sr. in 1932, he died in 1979, at which time she moved to Fryeburg, Maine. She enjoyed her work, spending time with her family, lunches with her friends and playing bridge.
She leaves her dearly loves son John E. Calley Jr. and his wife Judith of Fryeburg, a grandson John E. Calley III of Concord, and granddaughter Janet E. Kiesman of Fryeburg, three great grandchildren Brandon Calley, Amanda and Aric Kiesman and a cousin Judith Johnson of North Hampton.
Services will be private burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford, Mass.
