Armand F. Fecteau

BIDDEFORD, Maine - Armand F. Fecteau, 87, of Acorn Street, died Monday morning, Oct. 8, 2001, at Southern Maine Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Fecteau of Biddeford; his son Gilles Fecteau of Kittery; four other sons; and four daughters.

FECTEAU - Armand F. Fecteau, 87, of Biddeford, Maine, died Monday morning, Oct. 8, 2001. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Biddeford's St. Andre's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andre's Church, 41 Sullivan St., Biddeford, ME 04005, or to The Little House of Prayer, River Road, Biddeford, ME 04005, or to the charity of one's choice.

Bessie Greenfield

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Bessie (Cohen) Greenfield, 100, of 928 South St., were held from the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, in Portsmouth, Sunday, with graveside services held at the Temple Israel Cemetery, in Portsmouth. Rabbi David Mark officiated. Words of remembrance were given by son-in-law William Weinbaum.

In attendance were members of Temple Israel.

Bearers were Alan Weinbaum, Richard Monahan, Steven Monahan, Robert Campbell, Dennis Krivlow, Peter Wint and Arthur Gross.

Theresa Lang

EXETER - Theresa (Vincent) Lang, 75, a longtime resident of Exeter, died on Oct. 4, 2001, at Hospice House in Concord following a long battle with cancer.

Born on May 18, 1926, in Manchester, she was a daughter of Albert A. Vincent and Eva (Gamache) Vincent.

She moved to Exeter in 1941 and attended Robinson Female Seminary. She went on to graduate from Lawrence Academy of Beauty Culture and owned and operated Theresa Lang's Beauty Shop for 25 years.

She was co-owner of two automobile dealerships: H.O. Taylor Chevrolet in Wells River, Vt., and Walt Lang Chevrolet in Pittsfield.

She retired in 1989 and enjoyed traveling to more than 42 countries with family and friends.

He commitment to volunteerism throughout her lifetime was evident in the countless hours spent volunteering at: Exeter Hospital, Concord Senior Center, Disability Rights Center, Pleasant View Retirement Community, Governor's Office of Volunteerism, N.H. Task Force against Child Abuse and N.H. Celebrates Wellness.

In addition to ushering at Concord City Auditorium for the Community Concerts Series and the Granite State Symphony Orchestra, she was a member of the Exeter Garden Club, Exeter Women's Club and Exeter Boosters Club. She was a member of the Senior Wellness Team in Concord for four years and was especially pleased to help with the "Hike, Bike & Run for the Homeless," sponsored by the Salvation Army.

In January 2000, the International Association of Reiki Professionals recognized her as a Reiki practitioner.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 43 years, Walter Raymond Lang; a son, Mark Gerald Lang; sisters Lillian, Mae and Blanche; and brothers Albert and George.

She is survived by Richard and Wendy Lang of Kingston, Dennis and June Lang of Louisville, Ky., George and Jeanette Lang of Mystic, Conn., David and Sharon Lang Sweetser of Nottingham, and Robert and Karen Christensen-Lang of Cape Neddick, Maine; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters Annette, Eva, Lucille and Ruth; and a brother, Albert.

LANG - Theresa (Vincent) Lang, 75, a longtime resident of Exeter, died on Oct. 4, 2001, in Concord. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at the United Church of Christ, Route 111A, Brentwood. A private burial service will be held at Exeter Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the CRVNA Hospice House, P.O. Box 1797, Concord, NH 03302-1797. The Bennett Funeral Home, Concord, is in charge of arrangements.

Dwight Neal

ROTONDA WEST, Fla. - Dwight Emmons Neal, 58, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Englewood Community Hospital.

Born on Dec. 2, 1942, in York, Maine, he was a son of Norman and Sylvia (Chase) Neal. He had been a resident of the Englewood area since 1987, having come from York. He owned a painting business, and later he worked for Combustion Engineering in Newington. More recently, he was employed by Harmon Electric and Charlotte County until 1997. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #113 in Rotonda West.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Lucille Neal, and two daughters, Sherri Neal and Carrie Neal, all of Rotonda West, Fla.; his mother, Sylvia Hathorne of York Beach, Maine; a sister, Patricia Horning of Kittery, Maine; brothers Stuart Neal of Kittery, Maine, and Bruce Neal of York, Maine; and several nieces.

NEAL - Dwight E. Neal, 58, of Rotonda West, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at the American Legion Post #113 in Rotonda West. Englewood Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

ELLINGWOOD - Michael G. Ellingwood, 62, of 115 Walton Road, New Castle, husband of Ornella (Macrelli) Ellingwood, died Sept. 11, 2001. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at the New Castle Congregational Church. Friends are invited and may join with the family following the service for refreshment. Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Eleanor L. Hodgdon

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Eleanor L. (McNabb) Syphers Hodgdon, 90, of 346 Pleasant St., were held from the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, Portsmouth, on Monday, with services at the First United Methodist Church, Portsmouth. The Rev. William T. Richards Jr., pastor, officiated. The vocalist and organist was Bevan Bloemendaal, and words of remembrance were given by Eleanor's daughter, Priscilla Zoffoli. Bagpiper was Eric Colen.

In attendance were members of the church and representatives from Rivermouth Chapter #54, Order of the Eastern Star.

Burial was in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth, with committal services by the Rev. Richards.

Pallbearers were Robert "Bud" Syphers, Roger Syphers, Richard Syphers, Bruce Syphers, David Syphers, Mark Syphers, Jonathan Clancey and Fabio Cataldi.

Honorary bearers were Leslie Moulton and Richard Zoffoli.

Order of The Eastern Star services were held Sunday afternoon at the funeral home by Rivermouth Chapter #54, including Frances Kendall, PM, as Matron; George Flanders, PP, as Patron; Barbara Pierce, PM, as Chaplain; Mary Ann Flanders, PM, as Adah; Elizabeth Eckhart as Ruth; Cathy Brown, PM, as Esther; Anne Goodwin as Martha; and Edith Lovering, PM, as Electa.

Vard F. Hunker

ELIOT, Maine - A funeral was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, for Vard F. Hunker, who died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in Kittery, Maine.

The service was held at his church, the First Congregational Church of Eliot, on State Road. The Rev. Dr. David Avery officiated, accompanied by the Rev. Bill Barron of the York Beach Congregational Church.

The congregation offered many songs that Vard had enjoyed over the years. The congregation was accompanied on the organ by Emily Haggerty, the church organist. A prayer of invocation and unison reading were offered, as well as a responsive reading led by the Rev. Avery.

The Rev. Barron offered a prayer of thanksgiving, and memories of Vard were offered by the Eliot Lions Club by Col. John Lippencott of Eliot, as well as a reading by a member of the Bahai faith.

A message of Vard's life was offered by his son, Michael Rogers, which included highlights of six of the many gifts he offered his children as they grew together, offering the congregation a snapshot of what it was like growing up in the Hunker family. His son ended his remarks by playing "Amazing Grace" on the harmonica, a song Vard enjoyed hearing, played by someone he enjoyed listening to, no matter what he was playing.

The service continued at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Eliot, with the Rev. Avery offering a committal service and the Eliot American Legion Post offering military honors. A rifle salute and flag presentation followed by taps, played by Amanda Bradish and Jeffrey Janousek, honored the years Vard spent serving his country.

Pallbearers for the service were his six grandchildren, David Gerry, David Heilig, Douglas Gerry, Joseph Rogers, Marjorie Rogers and Kibbie Leavitt.

The family wishes to especially thank York Hospital Home Care for the excellent care provided to their father during his illness.

Michael E. DiFilippo

HAMPTON - Michael E. DiFilippo, 78, of Hampton, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at his home.

He was born July 9, 1923, in Boston, Mass., the son of the late Rocco and Mildred (Zarrella) DePhilippo.

He was raised in Boston and was a graduate of Roslindale High School and of Boston University.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

He worked as a food broker for the military and the Emco Company, which he owned and operated for many years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church.

He was the husband of Helen (Alibrandi) DiFilippo for 54 years.

In addition to his wife, family members include one son, Michael E. DiFilippo Jr. of Chesapeake, Va.; one daughter, Carol J. Hughes of Tewksbury, Mass; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, James DePhilippo of Lynn, Mass.; one sister, Jeannette Pepi of Natick, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

DiFILIPPO - Michael E. DiFilippo of Hampton died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will be in the High Street Cemetery, Hampton.

Ralph D. Eaton

SEABROOK - Ralph D. Eaton, 59, a lifelong resident of Seabrook, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at his home after a battle with cancer.

He was born in Newburyport, Mass., on March 25, 1942, a son of the late Emery N. and Charlotte (Akerman) Eaton.

He was employed by K.J. Quinn & Company in Seabrook for 29 years. More recently, he worked as a toll attendant at the Hampton tolls for the N.H. Department of Transportation, Bureau of Turnpikes, as well as sharing a business, "The Paper Hanger," with his wife.

He was a member of St. James Lodge #102 F.&A.M. of Hampton and the Seabrook Firemen's Association and officiated over the Saturday night bingo that it sponsored at Passaconaway Hall in Seabrook for many years. He had also been a member of the Seacoast Dart Association for the past six years and was known to his friends there as "Pops."

He was the husband of Joyce I. Eaton for 38 years.

In addition to his wife, family members include one son, R. Douglas Eaton Jr. of Seabrook; two daughters, Lynn Brooks and her husband, Timothy, of South Berwick, Maine, and Laurie Eaton-Mitchell of Mont Vernon; five grandsons; one brother, Emery N. Eaton of College Park, Md.; one sister, Rebecca St. Amand of Amesbury, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

EATON - Ralph D. Eaton, 59, of Seabrook, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001. Services will be held at 12 noon on Friday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Wildwood Cemetery, Seabrook. If desired, donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Sylvia D. Morrison

NEWMARKET - Sylvia Dawn (Beasley) Morrison, 63, of Newmarket, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at her home after a long illness.

Born in North Yarmouth, Maine, she was the daughter of Clarence and Beatrice (Cargil) Beasley.

She was a homemaker. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was her life!

Family members include four sons, Donald Foss Jr. of Oklahoma City, Okla., Steven Foss of Sanford, Maine, Richard Morrison and wife, Wendy, of Portsmouth, and Jon Morrison and wife Jeannette of Newmarket; three daughters, Brenda Jackson and husband, Jerry of Augusta, Maine, Patricia Lavway and husband Cecil of Plymouth, Maine, and Christy MacIntosh and husband Gregory of Newmarket, N.H.; one adopted daughter, Mary Mailhot of Deerfield; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Young and husband Teddy of Maryland, and Jeannette Delmar of Boston, Mass.; two brothers, Billy Beasley and wife Pauline of Richmond, Maine, and David "Red" Beasley and wife Jackie of Rodeo, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Anita Shea of Eliot, Maine; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; three sisters, Sharon Beasley, Alberta Perkins and Dorothy Dowd, all of Richmond, Maine; two brothers, Howard Beasley of Richmond, Maine, and Kenneth "Dickie" Beasley of Augusta, Maine; and two husbands, Donald Foss Sr., and John Morrison.

MORRISON - Sylvia Dawn (Beasley) Morrison, 63, of Newmarket, died Oct. 10, 2001. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Polish Club, Central Street, Newmarket. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Portsmouth Visiting Nurse Association-Hospice, 95 Albany St., Portsmouth, NH 03801.

Walter Givetz Jr.

EXETER - Walter Givetz Jr., 59, of 7 Cedar St., died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at his residence after a brief illness.

Born on June 16, 1942, in Portsmouth, he was the son of Walter and Sue (Lorenzo) Givetz Sr.

Family members include his wife, Paula (Beaulieu) Givetz; four sons, Roy Givetz of New Durham, Thomas Givetz of Milford, Scott Givetz and Alan Givetz, both of Exeter; two daughters, Debra Matthews of Fremont and Diane Givetz of Newmarket; his father, Walter Givetz Sr. of Exeter; 14 grandchildren; three sisters, Carol Ann Jenks of Horton, Mich., Joan Wyman of Newfields and Gail Hoyt of Fremont, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

GIVETZ - Walter Givetz Jr. of Cedar Street, Exeter, died Oct. 8, 2001. A graveside service will be held on Monday, Oct. 15, at 9 a.m. at Exeter Cemetery. Gertrude H. Moskevich

PEABODY, Mass. - Gertrude H. (Haines) Moskevich, 86, of Peabody, wife of the late Nicholas Moskevich, died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 10, 2001, in the Exeter Health Center in Exeter, N.H., after a long illness.

Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Clarence G. and Eva M. (Larrabee) Haines. She was raised and educated in Peabody.

Mrs. Moskevich had been a saleswoman for Jordan Marsh in Peabody for eight years prior to working for the Deer Skin Trading Post in Peabody for 12 years in their catalog department, retiring in 1983.

She had at one time been the president of the Wallace School PTO. She enjoyed bowling and had been on the Eastern Gelatin Bowling League.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and John Franciose of Peabody; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Judith Moskevich of Portsmouth, N.H., and David Moskevich of Peabody; three sisters, Hazel Towler of Danvers, and Shirley Bettencourt and Jean Wheeler, both of Peabody; four grandchildren, Neil Moskevich of Hampton, N.H., Paul Moskevich of Buxton, Maine, David Arathuzik of Peabody, and Dawn Solis of California; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was the sister of the late Lillian Ricci.

MOSKEVICH - Gertrude H. (Haines) Moskevich, 86, of Peabody, Mass., wife of the late Nicholas Moskevich, died Oct. 10, 2001. Her funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Cahill-Brodeur facility of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, next to St. John's Church, at 20 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.

WELLS - David S. Wells, 78, of 36 Wilson Road, Portsmouth, husband of Kathleen (Zimmer) Wells, died Sept. 25, 2001. A memorial service will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 168, 238 Deer St., Portsmouth, on Saturday at 1 p.m. Friends are invited and may join with the family for refreshment after the service.

JONES - Hardy (Tom) Jones, 65, of Lauderhill, Fla., formerly of Portsmouth, died Sept. 13, 2001. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at 10 a.m. in the North Congregational Church, Portsmouth. Friends are invited.

David J. Mahoney

NORTH HAMPTON - Services for David J. Mahoney, 76, of 9A Atlantic Ave., were held on Wednesday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton. A Mass of Christian burial was concelebrated at St. Theresa Church, Rye, by the Rev. Daniel Mahoney and the Rev. Maurice Lavigne.

The pall was placed on the casket by Mr. Mahoney's children, Colleen Mahoney, Sean Mahoney, David J. Mahoney Jr. and Kathleen Mahoney. Cantors were Kitty Crotty and Peter Mahoney. Organist was Judith Kish. Readings were offered by Susan Ryan and Mary Mahoney.

Gifts were presented to the altar by Colleen, David, Kathleen and Sean Mahoney. Words of remembrance were offered by Sean and Kathleen. Pallbearers were Ozzie Ayscue, Peter Cawley, Ted Cawley, Bill Creighton, Peter Foye, Mark Lidinsky, Peter Mahoney and Tom Ryan.

Committal prayers were offered by the Rev. Mahoney at St. Mary's Cemetery, Tewksbury, Mass. The U.S. Veteran's flag was presented to Mr. Mahoney's wife, Mrs. Jaqueline Mahoney.
