Barbara Fall (Charles) Losier
GORHAM - Mrs. Barbara Fall (Charles) Losier, 76, of Gorham, passed away on Thursday Aug. 10, 2000, at her home.
She was born on April 14, 1924, in North Conway, the daughter of John and Martha (Fall) Charles. She moved to Gilead, Maine, after she was married and then to Shelburne, where she resided for many years. She moved to Gorham in 1990.
Mrs. Losier was a member of Holy Family Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where she was employed as an X-ray technician. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse at Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin and also did private duty nursing. She loved her flower gardens and was a bird watcher.
Mrs. Losier was a graduate of New Hampshire Vocational Technical College with a LPN degree in 1973; College for Lifelong Learning with an Associate of Art degree in 1993; and University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of General Studies in 1997 with a major of women's literature.
Family members include two daughters, Carmen McKelvey of Shelburne and Ann Losier of Gorham; three sons, Lazare Losier III, of Berlin, Jean Losier and Heidi of Shelburne, and Patrick Losier and wife Nancy of Berlin; four grandchildren, Zack Wight and Jacob Wight of Shelburne, Brooke Losier of Hollis, Maine, and Brett Losier of Berlin; four sisters, Eleanor Garland and her husband Grover of Bartlett, Dorothy Burton of Dedham, Mass.; M. Joan Munroe and her husband Woodrow of South Chatham, and Evelyn Burke of North Conway; two brothers, Lester Charles and his wife Alice of Glen, and John Charles of Glen; several nieces and nephews; and in-laws, Charles and Frances Losier, Elizabeth Losier, Beatrice Losier, Katherine and Leo Woods.
She was predeceased by her husband Lazare Losier Jr., and a son Robert Lorraine Losier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday Aug. 14, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Gorham, with interment in the Wheeler Cemetery in Shelburne. Joyce N. Irish
CONWAY - Joyce N. Irish, 68, of North Conway, died on Aug. 12, 2000, at Merriman House in North Conway following a long illness.
She was born in Newport, NH, and was the daughter of Rev. Paul and Rosalie (Ott) Nystedt.
Mrs. Irish grew up in East Andover and Meredith. She moved to North Conway in 1955 and had lived in Center Conway since 1963. She was a graduate of Meredith High School, class of 1950, and then attended Providence Bible Institute that same year. Mrs. Irish graduated from Laconia Hospital School of Nursing in 1955, and she was a RN at Memorial Hospital for 18 years, subsequently doing private duty nursing for a few years.
She was also a charter member of the White Mountain Chapel, taught child evangelism in various homes throughout Mount Washington Valley during the summer and also taught at the chapel's Vacation Bible School.
Mrs. Irish died on her 45th wedding anniversary.
The family includes her husband of 45 years, Charles D. Irish, of Center Conway; her daughter, Rebecca M. Nelson, of Milton, Vt.; two sons, Daniel C. Irish, of Goffstown, and Timothy G. Irish, of North Conway; three grandchildren; two brothers, David Nystedt, of Tamworth, and Walter Nystedt, of West Ossipee; four sisters, Martha Kelsey, of New Jersey, Nellie Teasdale, of Illinois, Caroline Nystedt, of New York City, and Karen Nystedt, of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10 a.m. at the White Mountain Chapel in Conway, with the Rev. Nelson Houston and Rev. Robert Irish officiating. Burial will be in the Conway Village Cemetery. Visiting hours are today (Monday) from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway.

Alpheus H. Hibbard Sr.
BRIDGTON, Maine - Alpheus H. Hibbard Sr., 65, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at his home on Cross Street in Bridgton.
He was born in Bridgton, Maine, the son of Clarence and Priscilla Hobbs Hibbard. He was educated in Fryeburg and Bridgton schools and graduated from Bridgton High School. He was a self-employed carpenter and plumber. He enjoyed going to the town beach to watch the sunsets.
He is survived by three sons; Alpheus H. Hibbard Jr. and Michael Hibbard, both of Poland, Maine, and Mark Hibbard of Lewiston, Maine; one daughter, Julie Shane of Poland; one brother, John Hibbard of Augusta, Maine; one sister, Charlotte Wentworth of Bridgton; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial graveside service at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, at the Ingalls Hills Cemetery in West Bridgton with the Rev. Richard Male officiating.
Arrangements are with Wood Funeral Home of Fryeburg.
Reba (Vittum) Eldridge
CENTER OSSIPEE - Reba (Vittum) Eldridge, 77, of Dore Street in Center Ossipee, died Aug. 14, 2000, in Tamworth.
She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Alice (Clark) Vittum and had lived in Center Ossipee for the past 58 years. She was a past member of the South Tamworth United Methodist Church.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved and lived for her family. As a proud mother, she cherished every moment spent with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Charles P. Eldridge, of Center Ossipee; her children, Charles P. Eldridge Jr., of Center Tuftonboro, Rodney Eldridge, of Center Ossipee, Beverly Ryder, of Center Ossipee, Michael Eldridge, of Center Ossipee, Gordon Eldridge, of Center Ossipee, and John Eldridge, of Westbrook, Maine; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; a sister, Mary Gibson, of Tamworth; and many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by a brother, Merton "Hop" Vittum, and sisters Margaret Tappan and Thelma Larrabee.
Calling hours will be today (Wednesday) from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lord Funeral Home on Moultonville Road in Center Ossipee. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Moultonville United Methodist Church in Center Ossipee. Burial will be in the Chickville Cemetery in Center Ossipee.

Mildred B. Cansdale
TAMWORTH - Mildred B. Cansdale, 88, of Mays Way in Tamworth, died Aug. 12, 2000, at the Sunbridge Nursing Home in Wolfeboro.
She was born on March 4, 1912, in Middleboro, Mass., the daughter of the late Howard and Maybel A. (Osborn) Reed.
Mrs. Cansdale had lived in Glen for many years. She moved to Conway in 1981, then to Tamworth in 1994. She and her late husband, Earldon Lindquist, owned Reed's Coffee Shop in Glen for many years. She also owned her own shoe business.
Mrs. Cansdale was predeceased by four husbands, Woodrow Munroe, Cliff Hefner, Earldon Lindquist and James Cansdale.
A private graveside service will be in Conway Village Cemetery.
The Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service of West Ossipee is in charge of arrangements.
Donations may be made to the Lakes Region Humane Society or the Activity Center at Sunbridge Nursing Home.
William J. Ayasse Jr.
William J. Ayasse Jr., 73, of Center Conway, died suddenly on Aug. 6, 2000, at Memorial Hospital in North Conway.
He was born in Queens, N.Y., the son of the late William and Anna Ayasse Sr.
Ayasse was employed by Carroll Industries Inc. for 16 years before retiring as vice-president.
His family includes his wife, Marlene Ayasse of Center Conway; two sons; three stepchildren; and several grandchildren.
The burial will be private with no visiting hours. The Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway is in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy R. Betts
CONWAY - Mrs. Dorothy R. Betts, 72, of 33 Wildflower Trail, North Conway, passed away on August 9 at the Memorial Hospital. She was born in Lynn, Mass. on Sept. 20, 1927, the daughter of Frank I. and Elsie (Hatch) Childs. She resided in Greenwood, Maine, following her retirement and moved to North Conway a year ago. Mrs. Betts was a member of the Salem Chapter No. 98 Order of the Eastern Star in Salem, Mass. She was an avid reader and donated hundreds of books to local schools. Mrs. Betts was a former member of the board of directors of the Northeast Credit Union. Prior to her retirement she was employed by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth as a comptroller. She was predeceased by her husband, John Betts, a son, B. Betts and a son-in-law, Stephen P. Spofford.
Members of the family include a daughter, Barbara A. Spofford of Conway; a son, Robert B. Betts and his wife Theresa I. Betts of Rochester; a daughter-in-law Joy. D. Betts of Cape Neddick, Maine; a brother-in-law, Leland B. Betts of Portsmouth; a sister, Barbara Dee of Salem, Mass. and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning, August 12 at 11 a.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home on North Main Street in North Conway. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Bethel, Maine. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Anyone who wishes may make donations in her memory to the Harvest Hills Animal Shelter on Route 302 in Fryeburg, Maine.
Jack C. Hosman
Jack C. Hosman, 67, of Napa, Calif., died Aug. 5, 2000, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
He was born April 7, 1933, in Lincoln, Neb., the son of the late Stuart and Wilma Hosman. He has lived in California for most of his life, while spending vacations in Center Ossipee for the past 35 years.
Hosman had been employed as a pilot for Eastern Airlines for 23 years, and later worked for Arrow Air for five years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force as a lieutenant colonel during Vietnam. He loved to fly and was in the process of building his second airplane.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Judith (Neill) Hosman of Napa, Calif.; three daughters, Dana Jones of Port Varre, La., Kelly Mills of Alpharetta, Ga., and Mary-Stuart Hosman of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a granddaughter, Tate Hosman Mills; his stepfather, Paul Farla of Oakland, Calif.; a brother, Bart Hosman of Lafayette, Calif.; nieces and nephews.
At his request, there will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be held in California at the convenience of the family.

Ruth E. Dahl
SHELBURNE, Vt. - Ruth E. Dahl, 80, of Shelburne, Vt., died Aug. 3, 2000, after a period of failing health at her summer residence in Eaton.
Born in Conway, the daughter of Charles O. and Bertha (Ellis) Dahl, she was a lifelong resident before moving to a continuing care retirement community - Wake Robin - in Shelburne, Vt., in October 1993.
Miss Dahl graduated from Kennett High School in Conway. She also graduated from Wellesley College in 1941 and attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston, Mass.
She was manager of Charles O. Dahl Insurance Agency prior to World War II. During the war she was legal secretary in Chance Vaught Aircraft Factory in Connecticut and worked on contracts for the F-14 fighter aircraft. She was also a research writer at the Association of Casualty and Surety Executives in New York City. She did research for a pamphlet called A Career in Insurance For You, which was written for GIs being discharged from the service.
Following World War II, she returned to Conway and became a partner with the Charles O. Dahl Insurance Agency, with her sister Helen, until her retirement.
Miss Dahl was a longtime member of the Conway Village Congregational Church, served as financial secretary and secretary of the building committee.
The family includes her sister, Helen S. Dahl of Shelburne, Vt.; a nephew, Robert P. Cote of Gorham; and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Conway Village Congregational Church in Conway with the Rev. Dr. Richard F. Wilcox, of Eaton, officiating. Burial will be in the Conway Village Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.
