Dorothy Blaney Anglas

LIMA, Peru - Dorothy Blaney Anglas passed away April 22, 2001, in Lima, surrounded by her children, Ellen Anglas Bauer and Ted Anglas of California, Paul Anglas of Florida, and Sheila Anglas of Lima.

Born Sept. 3, 1925, she was the daughter of Theodore and Dorothy Ruddock Blaney of Manson Road in Kittery, Maine.

She attended Kittery schools and graduated from Traip Academy in 1943. She was the widow of Dr. Paul Anglas and had lived in Peru for the past 50 years.

Jeanne Marie Cronin

RYE - Jeanne Marie Cronin, 67, of 139 Washington Road, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2001, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Born Sept. 17, 1933, in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of Charles and Mary (Spooner) Flannery. She was a longtime resident of Milton, Mass., before moving to New Hampshire. She had been a resident of Rye since the early 1970s.

She was employed for many years as a secretary at the former Franciscan Friary in Rye Beach, and more recently for the town of Rye.

She was a member of St. Theresa Church.

The widow of William Francis Cronin, who died in 1987, she is survived by a daughter, Kerry Cronin of Rye; a son, Jon Cronin of Concord; one grandson, Jon Flannery Cronin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, William Flannery.

CRONIN - Jeanne Marie Cronin, 67, of Washington Road, Rye, died July 6, 2001. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth. Burial will be in Central Cemetery in Rye. Family flowers only, please. Memorials may be made to the Rye Public Library, 581 Washington Road, Rye, NH 03870.

DUNTON - James A. Dunton, 83, formerly of 238 Cass St., Portsmouth, died on July 6, 2001. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Middle Street Baptist Church. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth. Elks services will be held at 6:45 p.m. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Edgewood Centre Recreation Fund, 928 South St., Portsmouth, NH 03801.

James A. Dunton

PORTSMOUTH - James A. Dunton, 83, formerly of 238 Cass St., passed away Friday, July 6, 2001, at the Edgewood Centre.

Born in Auburn, Maine, Feb. 16, 1918, he was the son of James H. and Elmira (Truman) Dunton and was a resident of Portsmouth for most of his life. As a young man, her served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was employed by Orville Badger where he sold ice and operated a tractor trailer. He then went to work for the city of Portsmouth as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1978. He was also a member of the Portsmouth Police Auxiliary for many years.

He was a member of the Portsmouth Lodge of Elks #97, the former Royal Academy and was a volunteer at the Edgewood Centre.

He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Veino) Dunton, who died in 1990.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Reardon and her husband, Lawrence, of Portsmouth; one son, James A. Dunton Jr. of Destin, Fla.; four grandchildren, Neil Coakley, Thomas Coakely and his wife, Rebecca, James A. Dunton III, and Natalie Prestwood; a great-granddaughter, Hannah Marie Coakley; a brother, Ralph Kinch of Portsmouth; a sister, Mary Sims of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Robert Kinch, Vincent Kinch and Howard Dunton; and two sisters, Elmira LaMontagne and Hazel Southard.

Edith Mae Lucas

BLOOMFIELD, New York - Edith Mae Lucas, 80, of Bloomfield, N.Y., passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 5, 2001 in Verbena, Ala.

She was born in Fall River, Mass. on March 27, 1921, the daughter of the late Perez O. and Mae (Bailey) Lewin. She began her high school education in Fall River, Mass., attending BMC Durfee High School, and also attended East Greenwich Academy in Rhode Island and graduated from Portsmouth Senior High School with the class of 1938.

Mrs. Lucas was employed during World War II at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a welder.

Being of a military family, Mrs. Lucas traveled extensively. She toured most of Europe and made various stops throughout the world. She continued her love of traveling here in the United States as she moved from New York to Alabama each year.

She loved crocheting, storytellling and, most importantly, quality time spent with her family.

She is survived by her husband of over 35 years, Richard A. Lucas of Bloomfield, N.Y. and Verbena, Ala. She is also survived by her five children, sons, Edward F. Gray of Alpharetta, Ga., and Benjamin Lucas of Fairport, N.Y.; daughters, Inez M. (Gray) Otis, of Bank, Ark., Deborah K. (Gray) Peraino of Las Vegas, Nev., and Judy Fay (Lucas) Judy of Verbena, Ala. She is further survived by her three sisters, Ruth L. Griffin of Portsmouth, Inez Jenkins of Mattapoisett, Mass., and Patience Langevine of Haverill, Mass.; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her stepmother, Pearl Lewin.

LUCAS - Edith Mae Lucas, 80, of Bloomfield, N.Y., passed away on July 5, 2001, in Verbena, Ala. Funeral services will be held today (Monday morning), at the Mt. Creek Baptist Church, with interment in Mountain Creek Cemetery in Mt. Creek, Ala. Arrangements by Martin Funeral Home of Clayton, Ala. Contributions may be made in her memory to the First United Methodist Church, 129 Miller Ave., Portsmouth, NH 03801.

John D. Hester

PORTSMOUTH - John D. Hester, 79, of Portsmouth and formerly of Lynn, Mass., died on Friday, July 6, 2001, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Shirley M. (Maker) Hester.

He was born in Deport, Texas, the son of the late Wylley J. and Cloie E. (Bailey) Hester. He was raised in Alabama and attended schools there. He was a graduate of Tulane University. He lived in Lynn, Mass., from 1946 to 1985, and lived in Portsmouth since 1985.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theater for five years. He was a philanthropist and a founding member of the Alzheimer's Association.

He was a former Lynn businessman, owning and operating a gas station, garage and auto rental agency at the corner of Broad and Market streets for 18 years. In 1966 he worked for the General Electric Co. Riverworks Plant, retiring from the Marine Propulsion Division after 15 years.

He was also a bailiff at Rockingham County Superior Court.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a friend, Joan McLaughlin of Portsmouth.

Private funeral services were held.

HESTER - John D. Hester, 79, of Portsmouth, formerly of Lynn, Mass., died Friday, July 6, 2001 in Portsmouth Hospital. Funeral services are private and at his request there are no visiting hours. Arrangements by the Solimine, Landergan and Rhodes Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129), Lynn. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140-1102. Betty M. Weiser

CAPE NEDDICK, Maine - Betty M. Weiser, 60, of 10 Algonic Road, died on Saturday, July 7, 2001, at her residence after a long illness.

She was born on April 7, 1941, in Smithville, Long Island, N.Y., the daughter of John and Birget (Hauger) Lundsted. She spent her childhood in Vermont and attended the University of Vermont for two years.

She had been a publisher, author and astrological counselor. She was president of Nicolas-Hayes Inc. and had been a publisher for Samuel Weiser Inc. She was the author of three astrological books: "Astrological Insights into Personality," "Transits," and "Planetary Cycles." She was also a prominent publisher of Jungian psychology under the imprint of Nicolas-Hayes Inc.

She had formerly resided in New York City, moving to Cape Neddick in 1980.

She was a member of the Small Publishers Association of North America, the American Federation of Astrologers and the National Chapter of Cosmic Research.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Weiser of Cape Neddick; and one brother, Harold Lundsted of Vermont.

WEISER - Betty M. Weiser of 10 Algonic Road, Cape Neddick, Maine, died on July 7, 2001, in Cape Neddick. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, York, Maine. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Marlee Animal Shelter, Boyd Road, Wells, ME 04090; or the American Cancer Society, N.E. Division, 1 Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.

Alan W. Raynes

YORK, Maine - Alan W. Raynes, 63, of 11 Harbor View Lane, dies on Sunday, July 8, 2001, at his residence after a long illness.

He was born on Feb. 16, 1938, in York, the son of John H. and Eunice (Batchelder) Raynes Brown, and was a 1956 graduate of York High School. He served in the Coast Guard.

He was president of Seabury Builders Inc. of York and was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 131.

He attended the First Parish Congregational Church of York. He was a member of St. Aspinquid Masonic Lodge of York and the Warwick Club of Portsmouth, N.H. He was a member and past governor of the York Harbor Reading Room, and a member of the Volunteer Veterans Fire Association Red Shirts.

He was a British car enthusiast and a member of the New England MG Car Club, the MG-T Party Club and numerous other British car clubs.

He served the town of York as a member of the Harbor Board. He was a founding member of the York Land Trust and an organizer in preservation of the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge.

He was predeceased by a brother, John Raynes Jr.; his stepfather, Alvah Brown Jr.; and by a special friend, Webster.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Anderson) Raynes of York; two sons, Kevin A. Raynes and his wife, Sandra, of Cape Neddick, and Timothy J. Raynes of Kittery; one brother, G. Stanley Raynes and his wife, Pat, of York; one sister, Barbara Beaudette of Durham, N.H.; three grandchildren, Abby, Natasha and Timothy Raynes Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.

RAYNES - Alan W. Raynes of Harbor View Lane, York, Maine, died July 8, 2001, in York. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in the First Parish Church, York Street, York. Interment in the First Parish Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, York. Masonic service will be at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. The family desires memorial donations be made to the Angel Fund, Department of Neurology, c/o Lauren Bradbury, RN, WACC 836, 15 Parkman St., Boston, MA 02114.

David C. Futterrer Sr.

SOMERSWORTH - David Carl Futterrer Sr., 52, of 16A Turgeon Lane, died Sunday, July 8, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.

Born in Riverside, Calif. on Dec. 23, 1948, he was the son of Ernest H. and Joan (Reader) Futterrer. He was a 1968 graduate of Portsmouth High School.

With a great sense of humor and quick wit, he made friends at many of his local haunts around town. He enjoyed stock car racing and street rods as a past member of the Granite State Street Rod Association. He enjoyed working around camp and home on any number of projects as long as he was not just sitting idle.

He was employed at Down East Auto Body in Brentwood as an auto body mechanic, and had been previously employed at the former Scott's Pontiac in Hampton.

He is survived by his children, a son, David C. Futterrer Jr. of Medford, Mass.; a daughter, Kelly Wernsdorfer and her husband, John, of Rochester; his sisters, Liz Futterrer of Eliot, Maine, and Susan Futterrer of Virginia; a brother, Robert Futterrer and his wife, Laura, of Berwick, Maine; three grandchildren, Brian, Bethany, and Tyler "TJ" Wernsdorfer of Rochester; and his dear friend, Joanne Demers of Somersworth.

FUTTERRER - David Carl Futterrer Sr., 52, of 16A Turgeon Lane, Somersworth, died July 8, 2001. A memorial service will be celebrated at noon Saturday at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road/Route 1 Bypass, Kittery, Maine. Friends and family may call from 10 a.m. to noon prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Arrangements by the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home in Kittery.

Herbert H. Yeaton

RYE - Funeral services for Herbert Hassett Yeaton, 97, of 105 Central Road, Rye, were held from the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel in Portsmouth Monday, with graveside services held at the Central Cemetery in Rye. The Rev. John Solie of the Rye Congregational Church officiated. Poems were read by daughters-in-law Carol Yeaton and Elizabeth Yeaton. In attendance were members of the church and representatives from the Rye Volunteer Fire Department, Rye Lions Club, the Rye Over 55 Club, and the Golden Age Club.

Eleanor R. Marchetti

HAMPTON - The funeral for Eleanor R. Marchetti, 96, of 22 Tuck Road was held Monday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory. A Mass of Christian burial was concelebrated at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. The Rev. Michael J. Griffin, senior priest, and the Rev. Richard J. Kelley, pastor of St. Christopher Church in Nashua, were the celebrants. Deacon Paul Testa assisted and read the homily. The readings were by Mark, Paul, and Christopher Testa. The prayer of the faithful was read by Donna Harrington. The gifts were presented to the altar by Anthony Munroe and Kates Ricker. Burial followed in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, Mass., with committal prayers by Deacon Testa. Pallbearers were Joyce Cutting, Linda Munroe, Carol Ricker, Mark Testa, Paul A. Testa, Christopher Testa, and Donna Harrington.

Roberta J. Burke

ROCHESTER - Roberta J. Burke, 54, of Rochester, died July 3 at her home. Born Aug. 10, 1947, she was the daughter of Harry and Thelma Bailey. She was a resident of Portsmouth before moving to Rochester.

She is survived by a son, Leslie Peele of Rochester; a daughter, Robin L. Burke of Fall River, Mass.; a sister, Rozene Johnson of Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.

Kim A. Gouin

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Kim Amy (McDonald) Gouin, 45, of 157 Richards Ave., Portsmouth, were held from the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel in Portsmouth Saturday, with services at St. John's Episcopal Church in Portsmouth. The Rev. Ann W. Stevenson, associate rector, and Father Roland Lajoie, officiated. A reading was given by her sister-in-law, Robin Gouin, words of remembrance by her Hospice nurse, Sarah Bower, and a poem was offered by her niece, Allison Stoddard. Vocalist was Jeanie Daniels and the 23rd Psalm was read by Marsha Taylor. The pianist was Grover Marshall. In attendance were members of the church, representatives from the Portsmouth Regional Hospital, and the Portsmouth Home Health and Hospice.

Bearers were Jack Gouin, Ross Gouin, Joel Gouin, Rick Markey, Steve Arnold, and Brian Dwights.

RAYNES - Alan W. Raynes of Harbor View Lane, York, Maine, died July 8 in York. Funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the First Parish Church, York Street, York. Interment in the First Parish Cemetery. Rose M. Tobin

ENFIELD, N.H. —Rose Marie (St. Francis) Tobin, 69, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

Born in Lebanon, on May 16, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Evelyn (Macie) St. Francis. She grew up in Lebanon and attended local schools. She had also lived in Florida and in Maine for many years and most recently was a resident of Enfield. She had worked as a stitcher for the former Carter & Churchill of Lebanon and had been employed by KLEEN Laundry of Lebanon. She also worked for Stacey's Buffet in South Daytona, Fla. and Wesley Varney Catering Service of Portsmouth.

She enjoyed Bingo, trips to Foxwoods Casino, and vacationing in Florida. She was married Feb. 18, 1950 to her husband of 51 years, Donald F. Tobin. He died Aug. 5, 1999.

Survivors include three daughters, Patty Lee Audet of Kittery, Maine; Diane Marie Adams of Enfield; and Janice Lynn Jacob of South Carolina; three sons, Donald E. Tobin of San Diego, Calif.; Raymond J. Tobin of Spartanburg, S.C.; and John P. Tobin of Lebanon; one sister, Ruth Sanville of Lebanon; two brothers, Raymond St. Francis of Lebanon; and Melvin St. Francis of Brunswick, Maine; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

TOBIN - Rose Marie (St. Francis) Tobin, 69, died July 9, 2001. Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Norris Cotton Cancer Center, 1 Medical Center Dr., Lebanon, NH 03756. The Ricker Funeral Home of Lebanon is in charge of the arrangements.

DURHAM - Elizabeth (Walton) Robinson, 89, the widow of the late Francis (Robbie) Robinson, died at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover, on May 15, 2001. She resided at Durham Point Road in Durham, and in York, Maine.
