Marjorie A. Landers
KITTERY, Maine - Marjorie A. Landers, 64, of Sterling Road, a longtime resident of Kittery, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born in York, Maine, a daughter of Warren N. P. and Marjorie Freeman Wurm. She attended Traip Academy and was later employed at Foster's Daily Democrat. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Warren P. Hodgdon of Rochester, N.H., and John C. Hodgdon of Strafford, N.H.; one daughter, Bonnie L. Griffith of Nottingham, N.H.; three grandchildren, Derek Hodgdon of Strafford, Patrick Hodgdon of Strafford, and Kelly Griffith of Nottingham.
She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, William E. Wurm.
LANDERS - Marjorie A. Landers, 64, of Kittery, Maine, died Friday, May 11, 2001. There will be no visiting hours. A private graveside service will be held at Highland Cemetery in Kittery. Veronica Grisuk
WINCHESTER, Tenn. - Veronica Grisuk, 89, of 7012 Tanyard Hill Road, died Thursday, May 10, 2001 at the Southern Tennessee Medical Center.
She was born in Portsmouth, where she had been a resident for 80 years. For 45 years she was the owner of the Plains Grocery on Middle Road.
She is survived by a daughter, Frances Hoeman of Winchester; a son, Paul Grisuk of Winchester; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a beloved niece, Darlene Beskalo.
Memorial services will be held in Portsmouth.
Lillian D. Hamel
HAMPTON - Lillian D. Hamel, 96, of 97 Leavitt Road, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at her home.
Born April 22, 1905, in Manchester, N.H., she was the daughter of the late George D. and Clarissa (Sevigny) Hebert. She had resided many years in Epping before moving to Hampton in 1965. After moving to Hampton, she worked briefly at the Marston School.
From the 1930s through the 1950s, she worked for the former National Shoe Co. of Epping, except during World War II when she worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
She was a former member of the Richard A. Mitchell American Legion Auxiliary Unit of Epping.
She was the wife of the late Aldage J. Hamel, who died in 1964.
Survivors include her son, Rene G. Hamel of South Berwick, Maine; two daughters, Claire L. Hamel of Hampton, and Jeannine McCreary and her husband, George, of Hampton, and Chicago, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Ronald in 1954, her daughters Germaine Fortier in 1971, and Jacqueline Porter in 1985, and by her 13 brothers and sisters.
HAMEL - Lillian D. Hamel, of 97 Leavitt Road, Hampton, died May 13, 2001. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (today) at the Remick and Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Joseph Bonsaint
KITTERY, Maine - Joseph Bonsaint, 82, a longtime resident of Kittery, died Monday morning, May 14, 2001, at York Hospital. He was born May 29, 1918, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of the late Charles and Laura (Guillmette) Bonsaint. He attended local schools, as well as being enrolled in trade school.
He moved to Kittery in 1949 from the Lawrence, Mass., area.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS South Dakota. He was discharged from the service as a chief petty officer.
For 38 years he was employed by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a superintendent of the power plant.
He was active with his church. He had been a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church for over 54 years, having been a member of the St. Raphael's Parish Council.
He was very active with Meals on Wheels in the Kittery area and was a volunteer at the Footprints Food Pantry.
He was a member of the York VFW and American Legion posts, as well as being a member of the Kittery Lions Club.
He enjoyed sports, especially his Boston Red Sox. Woodworking was a particular favorite pastime for him. His greatest joy was to watch his grandchildren participate in sporting activities.
He is survived by his wife, the former Jane Manning, whom he married in Haverhill, Mass., on Jan. 5, 1946. He is also survived by his four sons, Michael of Kittery, Peter of York, Vincent of Murrysville, Pa., and Timothy of Hampton, N.H.; a daughter, Eleanor Bonsaint Summers of Kittery; and his 11 beloved grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Irene Haley, who died in 1997.
BONSAINT - Funeral services for Joseph Bonsaint, 82, of Kittery, Maine, who died Monday morning, May 14, 2001, at York Hospital, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday morning, May 17, 2001, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Kittery. Visitation hours will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at the Wilson-Cooper Funeral Home, 21 Rogers Road, Kittery. Katharine Woodworth
KITTERY, Maine - A memorial service was held for Katharine Woodworth of Dana Avenue, who died on May 8, 2001. The service was held at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, on Monday, May 14, 2001, with the Rev. David Avery of the First Congregational Church in Eliot officiating. In attendance were friends and family of Mrs. Woodworth; words of prayer and scripture were offered. The service concluded with a committal service conducted by the Rev. Avery at the First Christian Cemetery in Kittery Point, where she was laid to rest next to her husband.
Mark P. Richards
HAMPTON - Mark P. Richards, 44, of 28 Dunvegan Woods, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at the Exeter Hospital.
He was born in Haverhill, Mass., on Sept. 22, 1956, the son of Catherine M. (McKenna) Richards of Exeter and the late Norman Richards.
He graduated from Timberlane Regional High School in Plaistow, and he graduated from Plymouth State College, receiving a bachelor's degree in accounting.
He had lived in the Seacoast region for several years, having moved from North Hampton to Hampton six years ago. He owned and operated The Richards Company, an accounting firm in Hampton, for 20 years.
He was an avid golfer with membership at the Wentworth by the Sea Country Club in Rye for the past six years. In addition to golf, he enjoyed skiing, traveling and the culinary arts.
In addition to his mother, family members include his loving companion, Jeannemarie Mancuso of Hampton; three brothers, John Richards of Exeter, Bryan Richards of Hampton Falls and James Richards of Kingston; one niece, Leighann Richards of Groveland, Mass.; four nephews, Britt Richards of Hampton Falls, and Tyler, Conor and Parker Richards, all of Exeter; and several cousins.
RICHARDS - Mark P. Richards, 44, of 28 Dunvegan Woods, Hampton, died May 14, 2001. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Alice Davis
KITTERY, Maine - A memorial service was held for Alice Davis of Remicks Lane, who died on May 9, 2001. Services were held at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, on May 12, 2001, with the Rev. Graham Alvord officiating.
Children's memories of Mrs. Davis were offered by her son-in-law Phil Mueller on behalf of all the children. A solo of "Amazing Grace" was offered by Sueanne Thayer, accompanied by Barbara Kenney on the organ.
Reflections on Alice's life were offered by Saramanda Truesdale, and grandchildren's memories were spoken by Rick Puleo, with all the grandchildren assisting.
A healing prayer was sung by Mike and Bev Rogers, and poetry readings were read. The service concluded with The Lord's Prayer by the Rev. Alvord and with those in attendance singing one of Alice's favorite hymns, "Nearer My God to Thee." Everyone was invited back to Alice's home for a time of refreshment and reflection.
Richard W. Tatarinowicz
HAMPTON FALLS - Richard W. Tatarinowicz, 50, of 102 Exeter Road, died on Monday, May 14, 2001, at the Boston Medical Center, Boston, Mass.
He was born on Dec. 30, 1950, in Chelsea, Mass., the son of retired Marine Corps Master Sgt. Thomas Tatarinowicz of New Bern, N.C., and Gloria (Culhane) Merola of Nottingham, N.H.
He was raised in Arlington and Cambridge, Mass., and attended Salem, N.H., High School and the University of Kentucky. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps as a sergeant from 1968 to 1974.
He had lived in Hampton Falls for the past several years, having moved from Kingston.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Haverhill, Mass., for nearly 20 years.
He was a former member of VFW Post #1063 of Kingston and served as an assistant scoutmaster of Troop #377 of Hampton Falls. He enjoyed boating and sports cars.
In addition to his parents, family members include his wife of 22 years, Carol A. (Cabana) Tatarinowicz of Hampton Falls; one son, Eric T. Tatarinowicz of Hampton Falls; his stepmother, Sallie Tatarinowicz of New Bern, N.C.; his stepfather, Robert Merola of Nottingham; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

YOUNG - Helen P. Young, 91, of 143 Rogers Road, Kittery, Maine, formerly of 200 York St., York, Maine, widow of Neil W. W. Young, died Feb. 13, 2001, at York Harbor Health Care. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2001, in the First Parish Cemetery, York.
Lawrence R. Crampsey
HUDSON, Mass. - Lawrence R. Crampsey, senior pastor of the New Life Fellowship Church of the Nazarene in Marlborough, died unexpectedly on Tuesday morning at the UMass Memorial Marlborough Hospital in Marlborough, at the age of 54. He was the husband of Diana Lee (Blanchard) Crampsey.
Mr. Crampsey was born in Beverly, the son of the late Lawrence E. and Doris M. (Robinson) Crampsey. He was a graduate of the Claude H. Patton Vocational High School in Beverly and the Reynolds Institute. Mr. Crampsey served in the Army Reserves from 1966 to 1973.
For the past 21 years he has owned and operated The Yankee Printer in Hampton Falls, N.H.
Mr. Crampsey is survived by his wife, Diana; two children, Lawrence R. "Lonnie" Crampsey Jr. and his wife Kimberley of Newfields, N.H., and Laureen M. and her husband Matthew Greathouse of Old Hickory, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Katherine, Jenna, Hannah and Adam; two sisters, Sharon Peabody of Beverly, and Kim Richards of Newton, N.H.; one niece and one nephew.
CRAMPSEY - Lawrence R. Crampsey, 54, of Hudson, Mass., died unexpectedly, on May 15, 2001. He was the husband of Diana Lee (Blanchard) Crampsey. He was the father of Lawrence R. "Lonnie" Crampsey Jr. of Newfields, N.H., and Laureen M. Greathouse of Old Hickory, Tenn.; brother of Sharon Peabody of Beverly, Mass., and Kim Richards of Newton, N.H. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Katherine, Jenna, Hannah and Adam. Elizabeth W. Robinson
DURHAM - Elizabeth Walton Robinson of Durham died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover. She was 89.
Born Sept. 28, 1911, in Wakefield, Mass., Mrs. Robinson was the daughter of Bartlett and Helen (Davidson) Walton. She was a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Mass., and spent her junior year studying in France as a member of one of the first college groups to do so.
In 1930, she married Herbert James Moss, a college professor and administrator, and they eventually settled in Durham.
After the death of her first husband in 1955, she married Francis (Robbie) Robinson of Durham in 1961. Together they built a home on a roundabout of the Oyster River, which became a landmark for the UNH crew teams, whose progress they followed avidly. The welcome mat was always out for the crew teams as well as for relatives, friends, and colleagues from the many organizations in which the Robinsons were active.
She was a longtime member of the Durham Tuesday Club and spent countless hours as a community volunteer in the Seacoast area. She was also a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of New Hampshire and spent many years helping out in the garden and book sale at the Moffatt-Ladd museum house in Portsmouth.
In addition to being a devoted mother and grandmother, Betty was an avid reader, an ardent bridge player, a knowledgeable gardener and an enthusiastic world traveler. Unfortunately, in her latter years, she was also a victim of Alzheimer's disease. After Robbie's death six months ago, she moved to the Paloma Unit at Langdon Place of Dover.
Members of the family include her sister, Peggy W. Giamatti of South Hadley, Mass.; two daughters, Helen M. (Mrs. William) Ogden of Londonderry, and Virginia M. (Mrs. John) Guy of Dover; two sons, J. Davidson Moss and his wife Patricia of Salem, Ore., and James Robinson of Lynn, Mass.; also seven grandchildren, Timothy D. Guy, Sarah G. Lord, Michael B. Guy, J. Conor Guy, Christopher B. Ogden, Kathryn B. Moss and Elizabeth H. Robinson; also, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
ROBINSON - Elizabeth W. Robinson of Durham died May 15, 2001. A memorial service will be held later at a date, to be announced. Maj. Garvase N. White
STRATHAM - Retired Army Maj. Garvase N. White, 80, of Willowbrook Avenue, died April 16, 2001, at The Inn at Deerfield.
He was born April 25, 1921, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He spent his childhood in Roxbury, Mass., and later graduated from Boston Technical High School in 1939. He attended Sanborn Preparatory School and Northeastern University after receiving several athletic scholarships.
He joined the U.S. Army in December 1941, and later served as a senior marine salvage master.
During his 23-year career he received many citations for hazardous duty as a marine diver.
Upon his retirement in 1964, he and his family moved to Stratham and he joined Jordan Marsh Co., Boston, Mass., as a controller.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Eva White, and his sister, Kay DeLuca.
Survivors include his wife, Annette L. White of Stratham; a son, Garv White of Lake Oswego, Ore.; two daughters, Sue Armstrong of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Martha White of Framingham, Mass.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Munichiello of North Brookfield, Mass., and Jean Munichiello of South Weymouth, Mass.
WHITE - Retired Army Maj. Garvase N. White, 80, of Willowbrook Avenue, Stratham, died April 16, 2001. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's Church, 182 Main St., Newmarket, with the Rev. John Finnigan as celebrant. Patricia M. Roy
NEW CASTLE - Patricia M. Roy, 78, of 314 Wentworth Road, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at the Mark Wentworth Home after a long illness.
Born in Manchester, July 19, 1922, she was the daughter of Harry and Imogene Tergesen. She was a graduate of Manchester West High School and earned an associate's degree in business from the NH College of Business and Accounting. After graduation she worked for the U.S. government in Washington, D.C.
She was in the first group of women "WAVES" accepted into the U.S. Navy during World War II. She received training as an aviation mechanic. Her duty assignments were at Norman, Okla., and Corpus Christi, Texas.
She married Thomas Roy in 1944 and accompanied him on a tour of duty in Panama. After the war she returned to New Hampshire and raised 10 children before working with her husband in the insurance business, where she held an insurance broker's license.
She started work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in the fall of 1966, working in the Supply and Purchasing Department, retiring in 1986. After her retirement, she did volunteer work at Operation Blessing in Portsmouth.
Her hobbies were painting and Rose Marling.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sister JoAnne T. Lafond of Portsmouth; nine children, David Roy of Milton, Steve Roy of Portsmouth, Michelle Sanner of Greenland, Thomas Roy of Durham, Timothy Roy of Kittery Point, Maine, Patricia Sheldon of London, England, Debra Shaw of Portsmouth, Judith Roy of Portsmouth, and Kathleen Kristiansen of Greenland; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl Roy, and a grandchild.
ROY - Patricia M. Roy, 78, of New Castle, died May 15, 2001. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception on Friday at 11 a.m. Visiting hours at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth, today (Thursday) from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in Calvary Cemetery in Portsmouth.
