Raymond David Demeritt
ASHLAND, Mass. - Raymond David Demeritt, 54, of Ashland, Mass. and Bartlett, passed away Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, after a struggle with cancer. Born in Framingham, Mass., he was the son of the late Raymond P. Demeritt and Dorothy (Studholme) Demeritt of Framingham.
Demeritt was a graduate of Marion HIgh SChool in 1963. He was the husband of Lana (Garino) Demeritt, to whom he had been married to for 36 years. He worked at Garino's Audio and Video until 1977, when he moved to Fedders of North America Co., where he worked until retiring in 1998.
Demeritt was a member of the Ashland Lions Club, a lector at ST. Cecilia's Church and active in Ashland youth sports. He was the former president of Ashland youth football, former president of Ashland Boosters, treasurer of Ashland Scholarship Foundation and the president of Eagle Ridge Condominium Association. Also an avid golfer, he was a member of the North Conway Country Club.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one brother, Joseph Demeritt of Marlboro, Mass.; four sisters, Ellen McGinnis of Wyndham, Maine, Ester Nemet of Holliston, Mass., Linda Loranger of Texas and Barbara Ball of Spencer, Mass.; four children, Jeanne Wilbur of Charlton, Mass., James Demeritt of Acton, Mass., Julie Demeritt of Ashland, Mass. and Charles Demeritt of Marlboro, Mass; three grandchildren, Kelsey and Erin Wilbur and Daniel Demeritt; two aunts, Barbara and Virginia Studholme of Framingham; many nieces and nephews, and was nephew to the late Richard Studholme of Canton, Mass.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Sept.. 25 at 9 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland, with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Matarese Funeral Home on 325 Main Street, Ashland. Bryan Edwin Smith
FRYEBURG - Bryan Edwin Smith, 43, of Bridgton Road in Fryeburg, died unexpectedly Sept. 21, 2000, at his home.
He was born in North Conway, the son of Everett and Dorothy Farrington Smith. He lived his whole life in Fryeburg and was educated in Fryeburg schools. He was a construction worker and also worked in the family lumber business.
He was predeceased by his father in 1987. He is survived by his mother, of Fryeburg; one son, Nathan W. Smith, of Fryeburg; two daughters, Amy L. Stern, of Bridgton, and Leane R. Dyer, of Fryeburg; two brothers, Everett C. Smith and Roger C. Smith, both of Fryeburg; three sisters, Barbara E. Perry, of Center Conway, Melanie Hendrickson, of Long Island, N.Y., and Mary Ann Smith, of Fryeburg; and three grandchildren, Dylan Thorner, Iaian Thorner and Lydia Thorner, all of Bridgton.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in North Fryeburg.
Arrangements are with Wood Funeral Home of Fryeburg.
Carroll Raymond Bean
FRYEBURG - Carroll Raymond Bean, 79, of Pine Street in Fryeburg, Maine, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at the SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in North Conway.
He was born in Snowville, the son of Irving and Gladys Bean. He was educated in Snowville and at Fryeburg Academy. He was both a World War II veteran and Korean War Army veteran. He lived in South Gate, Calif., for 20 years, and worked for Anchor Hocking Co. as a maintenance mechanic. He returned to Fryeburg in 1979 and was a member of the Fryeburg-Lovell VFW, Fryeburg American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Margaret Peretich Bean; one daughter, Carole Boulton; one stepdaughter, Theresa Caldwell, all of Fryeburg; one brother, Charles Bean of Ashburnham, Mass.; one sister, Mildred Charles of Peabody, Mass.; and one granddaughter.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Fryeburg.

James Alfred Paris
TAMWORTH - James Alfred Paris, 20, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000.
Paris was a 2000 graduate of Kennett High School, and was graduated from the Great Lakes Naval Facility on Sept. 15, 2000. His rank was E2.
He was the son of Nancyjean C. Frankino Paris and James Henry Paris; brother of older sisters Nancyjean Paris Blake and Cassandra Paris, and younger brother, Demetrius Paris; grandson of Nancy Popailo Frankino of Edison, N.J.; and nephew of Francine Marie Frankino Brooks, Elizabeth Frankino Bruno, Margaret Frankino Fazio of New Jersey and Alfred Phillip Frankino of Pennsylvania. Other surviving relatives are Michael Blake, Harold Brooks, Mario Bruno, Robert Fazio, Carolyn Ryder Frankino, Florence Paris Grohol, Joseph Grohol, Albert Beahalter, Dianne Beahalter and Jason Beahalter of New Jersey and 11 cousins.
Services will be held at Baker-Gagne Funeral Home on Route 16 in West Ossipee. Hours of viewing are today and Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Doris L. Kennett
CORNISH, Maine - Doris L. Kennett, 85, of Cornish Station, Maine, and formerly of Madison, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at the Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro following a brief illness.
She was born in Boston, Mass., and was a graduate of Stoneham, Mass. High School in 1933.
Mrs. Kennett was a homemaker and enjoyed attending horse shows and pony races with her late husband, Earle Kennett, who died in 1990. She enjoyed dancing and loved being with friends and relatives.
She is survived by three daughters, Norma Sawyer of South Hiram, Maine, Jacqueline Barnard of Westfield, Mass., and Lois McAvoy of Hampstead, N.H.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the York Funeral Chapel, Maple Street, Cornish, Maine. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Reverend Robert Irish will officiate. Interment will be in the Gilman Cemetery in Madison.
Annabelle MacNab
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C.- Annabelle MacNab, 90, of Penick Village in Southern Pines, N.C., died of congestive heart failure on Sept. 16, 2000, at 6:30 p.m. in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, N.C.
She was born in Jackson Springs, N.C., on March 23, 1910, the daughter of Isabel Cheney and W. James MacNab. Her father came to Pinehurst in 1902 in association with Donald Ross. Mr. MacNab operated the Pinecrest Hotel for many years.
Miss MacNab attended schools in Pinehurst and was graduated from Simmons College in Boston, Mass. Her working career was with the John Hancock Insurance Company of Boston. She retired to Pinehurst in 1982. A memorial service will be held at Penick Village and interment will be in North Conway. She is survived by numerous cousins.

Adam H. Jones
OSSIPEE - Adam H. Jones, 20, of Skandia Estates in Center Ossipee, died Sept. 18, 2000, at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born Feb. 26, 1980, in North Conway, the son of David H. and the late Debra (Plummer) Jones. He attended Kingswood Regional High School in Wolfeboro. He had earned his Purple Belt in karate at the Kwoon Academy in Ossipee. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with other friends.
Besides his father, he is survived by his stepmother, PJ Jones, of Center Ossipee; a brother, Chester Jones, of Albany; a sister, Jamie Eldridge, of Center Ossipee; a step-sister, Kellye Kramer, of Walpole; two half-brothers, Ethan and Sheldon Billings, of Center Ossipee; maternal grandmother, Louise Walbridge, of Milton Mills; paternal grandparents, Henry and Barbara Jones, of Madison; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lord Funeral Home on Route 28 in Wolfeboro. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Family Life Center on Old Route 16 in Center Ossipee.

Walter Bingel
TAMWORTH - Walter Bingel, 84, of Mason Drive in Chocorua, died on Sept. 13, 2000.
He was born in Boston, Mass., on Sept. 23, 1915. He had lived in Chocorua for over 30 years.
He worked for over 30 years at the Honeywell Corp., in Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a dedicated member of the North Conway Athletic Club, having worked out everyday. He enjoyed living in the North Country and swimming in Mooris Pond.
He is survived by three sons, Walter J. Bingel Jr. of Derry, Michael J. Bingel of Boston, Mass., and Robert A. Bingel of Wrentham, Mass.; one daughter, Margaret A. Hurley of Waltham, Mass.; and seven grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at noon at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Chocorua. Burial will be in the Chocorua Cemetery. The Baker-Gagne Funeral Homes and Cremation Service in Wolfeboro and West Ossipee are in charge of arrangements.
Phyllis H. Mahan
CONWAY - Phyllis H. Mahan, 80, of Kearsarge, died Sept. 17, 2000, at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway.
She was born in Boston, Mass., the daughter of Ernest and Maddelon (Woods) Heckman. She lived in Wayland, Mass., for 12 years and in North Hampton for 18 years, before moving to Kearsarge in 1995.
She graduated from Acton High School in Acton, Mass., in the class of 1937, and also graduated from LaSalle Junior College in Newton, Mass., in 1939.
She owned and operated the House of Travel in Hampton for 12 years, prior to retiring in 1995.
She was a member of the North Conway Country Club and was a charter and honorary member of the Prospector Ski Club in Bartlett.
Her surviving family includes her husband of 57 years, Gilbert G. Mahan of Kearsarge; two daughters, Darvy J. Lanpher of Hoffman Estates, Ill., and Bonnie L. Schuh of Derry; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m., at the Jackson Community Church, with the Rev. Pogen Lee, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.

Trinity Kathleen Thompson
BROWNFIELD, Maine - Trinity Kathleen Thompson, infant daughter of Amy K. Rollins and Rexford D. Thompson, died September 15, 2000, at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway.
The family includes: her parents of Brownfield, Me.; her maternal grandparents, Herbert and Mickey Rollins of Brownfield; her paternal grandparents, David R. Thompson of Berlin and Mary B. Thurston of Ossipee.
Private services will be held at the family home with Pastor Eric Ness of Center Conway Baptist Church, officiating.
The Furber and White Funeral Home, in North Conway, is in charge of arrangements.
