Charles C. Hall
RYE - Charles C. "Charlie" Hall, 58, of 22 Oral Lane, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Born March 2, 1942, in Santa Maria, Calif., he was the son of the late Tom and Arline (Bates) Hall. He was a 1960 graduate of Santa Maria High School.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include his two children, Traci Hall Hartwick of Sumter, S.C., and Christopher Hall of Portsmouth; his dear friend, Carol M. Fisher of Rye, and her daughter, Ingrid M. O'Brien; four grandchildren, Jordan Hartwick and Jenna Hartwick, both of Sumter, S.C.; Emily O'Brien and Shannon O'Brien, both of Eliot; and a brother, Stanley Hall of Santa Maria, Calif.
Michael F. Pagano
PORTSMOUTH - Michael Francis Pagano, 64, died peacefully at his home Monday, March 27, 2000, surrounded by his family and close friends. He died after a long and inspiring battle with cancer.
Born Dec. 3, 1936, in East Hartford, Conn., he was the son of Settimio and Maria Pagano. He graduated from East Hartford High School and attended the University of Connecticut.
He traveled the country as a commercial real estate appraiser for United Appraisal Co., before relocating to New Hampshire. He then became city assessor of Rochester from 1967-1969 and president of Franklin Realty Co. He was city assessor of Portsmouth until he retired in 1985.
He was a member of the International Assessors Association of America, Northeast Regional Assessors Association, and New Hampshire Assessors Association. He was a 32-year member of the Portsmouth Elks, and a member of the Portsmouth Moose.
He was an avid gardener who enjoyed the outdoors. He proudly displayed an extensive collection of 1950s memorabilia to anyone who visited his home. He was happiest to be cooking, surrounded by his family and many lifelong friends. He enjoyed life and will be greatly missed.
He was the husband of Sandra (Clement) Pagano.
Survivors include two daughters, Julie McNeil and Paula Pagano, both of Portsmouth; a son, Larry McNeil of Dover; his granddaughter and light of his life, Iris Bouzianis McNeil of Portsmouth; three brothers, William and his wife, Joan, of Manchester, Conn., Francis of East Hartford, Conn., and George of East Hartford; a sister, Rose Azzaro and her husband, Thomas, of Manchester, Conn.; and numerous aunts and uncles, and nieces and nephews.
Joshua S. Plaisted
YORK - Joshua Scott Plaisted, 2, of 16 Orchard Farms Road, York, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at York Hospital.
Born July 25, 1997, he was the son of Scott and Carol (Trainor) Plaisted of York. He attended York Child Care Center where he enjoyed time with his playmates. He will be remembered by friends and family for, among many good things, always having a smile on his face. He was a loving son who enjoyed his baby sister and his walks along the river near their home with his daddy.
In addition to his parents, survivors include a sister, Lindsey C. Plaisted of York; Nana Winifred Trainor of Beverly, Mass.; Grammy Pearl Plaisted and Grampy Allan Plaisted of Berwick.
Angela R. Wakefield
KITTERY - Angela R. Wakefield, 27, of 6 Manson Ave., Kittery, died Sunday March 26, 2000, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Born July 24, 1972, in Portsmouth, she was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Patricia Merosola.
She attended Kittery schools and was a 1990 graduate of R.W. Traip Academy. She was employed by Liberty Mutual of Portsmouth.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Wakefield.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her father, Joseph Merosola and his wife, Dale, of Dover; her mother Patricia Mersola and fiance Tony Telles; a brother, Joseph Merosola Jr., and his wife, Amy, of Kittery; a sister, Kristina Merosola and fiance Tim Jacques of Dover; grandmothers, Ruth Eldredge of Kittery and Marion Kostandin of Lakeland, Fla.; favorite uncle and aunt Gerald Eldredge and wife Wendy of Quincy, Mass.; and various other uncles, aunts and cousins; uncles George Eldredge of Richmond, Va., Ronald Eldredge of Eliot, Patrick Merosola of Portsmouth, Steven Merosola of Lakeland; aunt Rose Ann Merosola of Lakeland; in-laws James and Sandy Wakefield of York, brother-in-law James Jr. and his wife, Jen, of North Berwick; grandparents-in-law Verrill and Mary Wakefield of Kittery, Earl and Marion Clough of Portsmouth.
Randall B. Jones
NEWFIELDS - Randall Brian Jones, 35, of Hemlock Court., died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in Ashland, Maine, from complications accompanying a long period of illness.
Born Aug. 24, 1964, in Weymouth, Mass., he was the son of Bradford H. and Virginia (Smith) Jones. He was a 1982 graduate of Exeter High School and 1987 graduate of Northeastern University, where he received his degree in civil engineering.
He was the owner and operator for 13 years of Jones & Beach Engineers Inc., of Stratham. In his younger years, he was involved with Boy Scouts and enjoyed swimming.
He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church of Exeter.
In his spare time, he enjoyed skiing, hiking and snowmobiling with his friends.
He was the husband of Karen (Negleson) Jones for more than nine years.
Other survivors include a son, Anthony Jones of Newfields; a daughter, Ashley Jones of Newfields; his parents of Alton; a brother, Bradford A. Jones and his wife, Meg, of Alton Bay; a sister, Anya James of Alaska; nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Ken Swanton.

Leonore E. Hudson
PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Mrs. Leonore E. (Alward) Hudson, 88, of 225 Wibird St., were held at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, Monday. The Rev. Dawn A. Shippee, of the North Congregational Church, Portsmouth, and Fr. Michael Griffin, of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish, Hampton officiated. Also in attendance were members of the Portsmouth Women's City Club and many neighbors and friends.
Burial was in the Union Cemetery, Amesbury, Mass., with committal services by Rev. Shippee.
Bearers were Edward Hudson, Bruce Hudson, Benjamin Daley, and Edwin Turner.
Bunny L. Morrison
EPPING - Bunny (Bernice) L. Morrison, a 47-year resident of Epping, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, in Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore after a brief period of illness.
Bunny is being returned home to Epping to be reunited with her previously deceased husband, Fred J. Morrison Jr. The family is having a picture memorial gathering at the home that Bunny and Fred built in Epping, which their grandson Eric Murphy now owns and has kept in the family.
Later, their ashes will be combined and together they will revisit all of their favorite places from Las Vegas to Maine, and two places they always wanted to go, Alaska and an ocean voyage to Nova Scotia. Then two time capsules containing some of their ashes and memorabilia of their lives and loved ones will replace the urn under their memorial and on their property.

Survivors include her two adult daughters, Wanda Wallace of Epping, and Renda Morrison of Severn, Md.; six grandchildren, Keith, Eric, Sean Murphy and Laura Perry, all of New Hampshire, and Wanita Palmer and Steven Collins of Maryland; nine great-grandchildren, seven in New Hampshire and two in Maryland; and her brother, Buddy (Arthur) Trammel of Kingman, Ariz.
Matthew M. Ricci
CHARLESTON, Maine - Matthew Michael Ricci, 9, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 25, 2000, at Bangor, as a result of a bicycle accident. Born July 25, 1990, in Montmagny, Quebec, Canada, he was the son of Michael F. and Jane L. (Gardiner) Ricci. He was a fourth-grade student at Highview Christian Academy in Charleston. He was a member of the Living Word Assemblies of God Church in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, where he was a member of the Royal Ranger Club.
In addition to his parents of Charleston, he is survived by a sister, Adrienne Marie Ricci of Charleston; his maternal grandfather, LaForest A. Gardiner Sr. of Sherman Mills, Maine; his paternal grandparents, Francis G. and Pauline Ricci of Eliot; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Lawrence D. Grant
YORK - Lawrence D. Grant, 74, of 7 Grant Lane died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at York Hospital.
Born Dec. 4, 1925 in Wells, he was the son of Clarence and Mildred (Moore) Grant. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Wells High School.
He was the owner and captain of the charter fishing boat "E-Z" of York Harbor for many years. He was also a lifetime fisherman. As a licensed private pilot for many years, he enjoyed his trips from Littlebrook Airpark in Eliot to Florida several times, as well as his frequent trips locally.
He was the husband of the late Grace (Svedberg) Grant, who died in 1996.
Survivors include a son, Edward, and Rosie Grant of York; a daughter, Rebecca and Steve Fox of York; a brother, Malcome Grant of Berwick; a very close cousin, Gilbert Grant of North Berwick; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
M. Althea Cullen
NEW CASTLE - M. Althea Cullen, 80, of New Castle, died suddenly in Boynton Beach, Fla., on Thursday, March 23, 2000.
Born and raised in Wellesley, Mass., she moved to the Portsmouth area in 1954. She was employed at Sears Roebuck and retired from there in 1983.
She was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception Church and the Women's Club there.
She was the wife of the late C. Thomas Cullen, wh died in 1987
Survivors include a son, Paul Cullen, and his wife, Pamela, of New Castle; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Laura Cullen; and a brother, Paul Monahan and his wife, Rita, of Boynton Beach, Fla.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Marguerite (Mather) Monahan, who died in 1997.
Etheldreda Reid
YORK HARBOR - Etheldreda Winthrop Seabury Reid, 96, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Marston Seabury, died at home on Sunday, March 26, 2000.
Born March 5, 1904, in White Plains, N.Y., she grew up in New York City and spent her summers with her two sisters in Portsmouth, where her maternal grandfather, the Rev. Henry Emerson Hovey, was rector of St. John's Church for more than 30 years. She was a direct descendant of Samuel Seabury, the first Episcopal bishop in the United States.
In 1930, she married Fergus Reid Jr. of Norfolk, Va.
Her life was very much a part of New York City during the years just before and just after World War II, when volunteerism played a significant role in society. She was president of the Grosvenor Neighborhood House from 1934 to 1936 and president of the Junior League of New York from 1942 to 1944. During World War II, she was director of fund raising for the American Red Cross, Women's Division, in New York from 1944 to 1946. She was president of the Garden Club of America from 1953 to 1956. She received the Medal of Merit from Zone 1 of the Garden Club of America as well as the Marion Fuller Brown Award for service to the GCA and the award for Creative Leadership from Zone 1 of the GCA.
In 1953 she was a governor of the Colony Club in New York City and from 1963 to 1966 she was president of the New York Exchange for Women's Work. She was twice president of the Piscataqua Garden Club in York Harbor, from 1940 to 1941 and again from 1970 to 1971. She was a member of the Colonial Dames of America and the Society of Colonial Dames.
Survivors include her three children, Fergus Reid III of Stamford, Conn., William Seabury Reid of York Harbor, and Winthrop Reid Burns of Darien, Conn.; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. William White Howells of Kittery Point.
Fredric Bramante
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Fredric Bramante, 89, of Salem, N.H., died Friday, March 24, 2000, at the Lee Memorial Hospital, Fort Myers, after a brief period of illness.
Born in Augusta, Sicily, he moved to Boston at the age of 5. He was a restaurateur, owning the Associated Cafeteria in Lawrence, Mass. A resident of Salem since 1955, he was active with the Salem Senior Citizens. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Salem VFW Post No. 8546.
He attended Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem.
An avid sports fan, he especially liked the Boston Red Sox. He was noted as the only person in the world to attend the first and last sporting events in the history of the Boston Garden. His love for Boston sports was second only to his love for his family.
He was the husband of Angela M. (Andreottola) Bramante of Salem for 54 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Frederick Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth Bramante, of Durham, Louis J. Bramante of Bethesda, Md., and Joseph and his wife, Donna Bramante, of Derry; one daughter, Camille and her husband, Christopher McKinnie of Burlingame, Calif.; two sisters, Margaret Bramante of East Boston, and Frances Fazio of Cape Cod, Mass.; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Ernest J. Cote
EXETER - Ernest J. Cote, 85, of Sherwood Forest, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood after a brief period of illness.
Born Aug. 7, 1914, in Exeter, he was the son of the late Samuel J. and Margaret (Richards) Cote.
He spent most of his life in Exeter.
He was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard during World War II and spent most of his life with Exeter Lumber and Merrill Lumber. He also worked at the Exeter Cemetery for several years.
He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church of Exeter.
He was the husband of Valade (Couture) Cote of Brentwood for 63 years.
Survivors include a son Wayne Cote and his wife, Irene, of Exeter; a daughter, Andrea DiPinto and her husband, Louis, of Amesbury, Mass.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Olin Cote of Hampton Falls; three sisters, Winnifred Vedrani of Amesbury, Thelma Barlow of Exeter, and Murial Waleryszak of Exeter; and several nieces and nephews.
