Harrison Robert Hoyt
CONWAY - Harrison Robert Hoyt, 91, of North Conway, died Nov. 26, 2000, at the SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in North Conway.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Bethel, Conn., until 1956 and then moved to the Manchester, Vt., area, where he lived until moving to North Conway in 1998.
Harrison trained and raced harness horses for over 60 years and was one of two amateur drivers ever to win the Hambeltonian Trot, which he won in 1948 with his trotter, Demon Hanover.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth (Marble) Hoyt, of North Conway; two sons, Harrison Hoyt Jr., of Conway, and William Hoyt, of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; five grandchildren, Holly Lemons, of Alpha, Ky., Michael Hoyt, of Madison, Mary Miller, of North Conway, Christopher Hoyt, of Conway, and Mickey Hoyt, of Crested Butte, Colo., four great grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Hoyt, of Danbury, Conn., Louise Short, of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Betty McFarlane, of Newton, Conn.; a brother, Ben Hoyt, of Banning, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m. at the Conway Village Congregational Church in Conway. There will be no visiting hours. Donations may be sent to the First Congregational Church, P.O. box 588, Manchester, Vt. 05254.

Jeanne Munroe
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Jeanne Munroe, 77, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at Orchard View Manor, East Providence.
She was the wife of the late Lloyd A. Munroe. Born in Antwerp, Belgium, a daughter of the late Henricus P. and Maria F. (Claes) Fissers, she lived in Warwick since 1954.
She leaves a daughter, Patricia L. Gold of East Providence. She was the sister of the late Marie Gazzano.
The funeral and burial will be private.
Elsie Allard
HIRAM, Maine - Elsie Allard, 100, of Allard Circle, holder of the Boston Post Cane honor as the oldest citizen of Hiram, Maine, passed away on November 28, 2000, at Varney Crossing Nursing Care Center of North Berwick, Maine.
She was born August 16, 1900, in Eaton, a daughter of Leslie H. and Ettabelle Canney Thurston. Since her mother died young, she was brought up by her grandmother, Mary Davis Thurston.
Mrs. Allard was educated in Eaton schools. In her early 20's, she had charge of the dining room at Kearsarge Hall in North Conway. She moved to Kezar Falls, Maine, following her grandmother's death and became a seamstress at a pant shop there. She was an original member of a civic group called 21 Club, which still exists.
At age 72, and after four attempts, Mrs. Allard learned to drive and received a driver's license. She drove until she was 98.
Mrs. Allard married Fred R. Allard in 1924. Her son, Maynard Allard, was handicapped. Following many operations on his legs, she was able to do physical therapy to enable him to walk without braces and to become an active, independent adult.
She often accompanied her husband lake fishing and ice fishing.
From 1942 to 1945, she was a member of the ground observer corps. of the USAF Defense Team manning an observatory at night.
Her works as a woolen weaver at Kezar Falls Woolen Mill spanned a period of nearly 30 years.
Her memberships in civic groups include 63 years in American Legion Auxiliary Post 123 with two years as president; Fidelis Class of Methodist Church; charter member and first secretary of Sacopee Valley Senior Citizens; Parsonfield Cooperative Extension; Ancient Landmarks Society of Parsonfield; Rathbone Temple of Pythian Sisters of South Windham, life member; Cumberland/Oxford Union of Pomona Grange; Charter Oak Grange of South Hiram; Porter-Parsonfield & Hiram Historical Societies, as well as Freedom Historical Society; and work with Special Olympics and Maine Iris Society. She was also a member of the Ruggers of Kezar Falls and Friends of ParSem of Parsonfield.
She enjoyed rug hooking, crocheting, making quilts, crafts, bird watching, flower gardening (roses and irises) and grange suppers.
She was predeceased by her husband, who died in 1975; and a son, Morton Allard in 1998.
She is survived by two daughters, Rachel Allard Ward of Center Ossipee and Ruth Allard Paul of Stratham; two grandsons, Gary Ward of Cheverly, Md. and Joel Paul of Portsmouth; three granddaughters, Joanne Chadbourn of Strafford, Laurie Noblett of Asheville, N.C. and Lorraine Bitomski of Stratham; and five great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Neal & York Funeral Home, 12 High Street, Kezar Falls, and will be followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Monday at Kezar Falls Burial Grounds. Pastor Beverly Blaisdell will officiate. Memorial donations in her name may be made to Sacopee Rescue, P.O. Box 367, Parsonfield, Maine 04047.
Roger W. Kohrs
CONWAY - Roger W. Kohrs, 71, died Nov. 21, 2000, at this home on West Side Road, following a brief illness.
He was born and attended school in Barre, Vt. He was the son of Wolcott and Evelyn (Howell) Kohrs, and he lived in St. Petersburg, Fla. and in Youngstown, Ohio, for several years before moving to the Mount Washington Valley in 1959.
He had been a truck driver for several years with the former Hub Fruit Company in North Conway. Kohrs was a custodian at Kennett High School for 20 years before retiring in 1994. After retirement, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a campground host on the Kancamaugus Highway.
The family includes two sons, Roger D. Kohrs of Somersworth and Russell E. Kohrs of Lewiston, Maine; two daughters, Rita L. Roy of Tamworth and Roberta Heath of Patten, Maine; nine grandchildren, Robin Kohrs, Russell E. Kohrs, Kenneth J. Kohrs, Justin L. Roy, Charity M. Roy, Faith A. Fox, Edward J. Fox, Hope R. Heath and Forrest N. Heath; his uncle, Roger W. Kohrs and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 30, at 1 p.m. at St. Andrews in the Valley in Tamworth, with the Rev. Margaret G. Custer, rector, officiating. There will be no visiting hours. Donations may be sent to the Dinner Bell South, P.O. Box 436, Tamworth, N.H. 03886-0436.

Nellie E. Whitney
FRYEBURG - Nellie E. Whitney, 77, of Oxford Street in Fryeburg, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at the Bridgton Hospital.
She was born in Stow, Maine, the daughter of Simon and Esther Libby Smith, and was educated in Stow schools.
She lived in Fryeburg most of her life and was a housewife. She enjoyed knitting mittens, cooking, canning and doing for others.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arlington Whitney, in 1992; a daughter, Brenda Joyce, in 1943; and a brother, Simon Smith Jr. in 1984.
She is survived by one son, Paul A. Whitney of Fryeburg; one daughter, Mrs. Simon Betty Hubbard of Cross, S.C.; three brothers, Ernest Smith and Raymond Smith of Fryeburg and Roger Smith of Stow; four sisters, Evelyn Chaplin of Stow, Louise Locke of Redstone, Bertha Wentworth of Fryeburg and Sylvia Douglass of Sebago; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wood Funeral Home, 12 Warren Street, Fryeburg, where the funeral service will be also be held on Thursday at 10 a.m., with the Pastor Robbie Locke officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in North Fryeburg.

Brenda G. Overshiner
TAMWORTH - Brenda G. Overshiner, 53, died Nov. 21, 2000, at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway, following a sudden illness.
Born in Santa Rosa, Calif., she moved to Tamworth in 1980.
Overshiner had worked at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro and at the Clipper Home in North Conway for several years. Since 1991, she has been a hair stylist, and more recently she was manager of the salon at J.C. Penney in North Conway.
The family includes her husband of 37 years, Roger L. Overshiner of Tamworth; her mother, Dorothy Maifeld of West Plains, Mo.; two brothers, Gust Steckman of West Plains and John Steckman of Petaluma, Calif.; a sister, Dorothy Brazil of Petaluma, Calif.; and two nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 27, at 10 a.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway with the Rev. Angelo J. D'Onofrio, officiating. Burial will be in the Chocorua Cemetery.

Roger W. Kohrs
CONWAY - Roger W. Kohrs, 71, died Nov. 21, 2000, at this home on West Side Road, following a brief illness.

Fred H. Knox
FRYEBURG - Fred H. Knox, 78, of Route 113, died Thursday Nov. 23, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Fryeburg, the son of Wendell and Edith Haley Knox, and graduated from Fryeburg Academy class of 1942. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a self-employed carpenter and for 62 years he was a registered Maine guide. He lived in Lovell for many years and was a past master of Delta Lounge of Masons, a member of the Kezar Lake Grange and the Fryeburg-Lovell VFW.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sharon Emerson Knox of Fryeburg; four sons, Thomas Knox of St. Petersburg, Fla., Kirby Knox and Kenneth Knox both of Lovell, and Jeffrey Knox of Fryeburg; one daughter, Theresa Knox of Stow, Maine; three step-daughters, Deborah Emerson of Portland, Kathleen Rogers of Tavares, Fla., and Ellen Demers of Hiram; a twin brother Frank H. Knox of Hebron; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Bally Heath.
Fryeburg-Lovell VFW will conduct a graveside service Monday at 10 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Fryeburg.
