Bernardine Louise Farinello

YORK BEACH, Maine - Bernardine "Bunny" Louise Farinello, 63, of Airport Drive and formerly of Bedford, Mass., died Thursday, June 22, 2000, at York Hospital.

Born March 18, 1937, in Cambridge, Mass., she was the daughter of Bernard and Margaret (Allen) Loebig. She was a 1954 graduate of Cambridge High and Latin School. For many years, Bunny had been a summer resident of York Beach before moving here 10 years ago.

Bunny was a member of the Bedford Social Club. She was known for her great personality and her ability to always make people smile.

Survivors include three daughters, Regina F., and her husband, Jim Begley, of Chelmsford, Mass., Laura J. Farinello of Bedford, Mass., and Debra M. Farinello of Charleston, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Jessica and Jennifer O'Rourke of Chelmsford, Mass.

FARINELLO - Bernardine L. Farinello, of Airport Drive, York Beach, died June 22, 2000, at York Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2000, at the York Street Baptist Church, York Street, York. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the York Street Baptist Church, 61 York St., York, ME. Arrangements by the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home.

Kathleen M. Kochy

EXETER - Kathleen M. Kochy, 81, of Brookside Drive, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at her home after a lengthy period of illness.

Born May 20, 1919, in Exeter, she was the daughter of the late William and Sadie (Savage) McGaughey. A lifelong resident of Exeter, she graduated from Robinson Female Seminary in 1938 and Chandler Business School in Boston.

For 17 years, she worked as secretary for the Rockingham County Extension Service.

She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a past member of its Ladies Auxiliary.

In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling as well as golfing at Exeter Country Club.

She was the wife of Edward R. Kochy of Exeter for 58 years.

In addition to her husband, survivors include one daughter, Carol Downer of Boscawen, N.H.; one son, Thomas Kochy of Roswell, Ga.; and four grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Jack McGaughey and Norman McGaughey; son-in-law Edward Downer in 1993; and grandson Scott Downer in 1993.

KOCHY - Kathleen M. Kochy, 81, of Exeter, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2000, at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2000, at St. Michael's Church. Burial will follow in Exeter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Jeanette D. Fraser

HAMPTON - Jeanette D. "Janet" Fraser, 75, of 527 Winnacunnet Road, died Thursday, June 22, 2000, at Exeter Hospital.

Born May 9, 1925, in Haverhill, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose (Warchol) Vencis. A graduate of Haverhill High School, she resided for many years in Hampton, moving there from Salem, N.H.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church.

She was the wife of the late David A. Fraser. He died in 1993.

Survivors include four sons, Michael D. Fraser, and his wife, Barbara, of Rye, David A. Fraser Jr. and his wife, Maryann, of Derry, N.H., Daniel F. Fraser and his wife, Deborah, of Salem, N.H., and Timothy R. Fraser and his wife, Theresa, of Rye; one daughter, Kathleen Fraser-Harding and her husband, Dr. Wayne Harding, of Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Alexander, Nicholas, Morgan and David III; two brothers, Anthony "Rip" Vencis of St. Petersburg, Fla., and John "Jack" Vencis of Haverhill, Mass.; one sister, Suzanne Dooly of Haverhill, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

FRASER - Jeanette D. "Janet" Fraser, of 527 Winnacunnet Road, Hampton, died June 22, 2000. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday (today) at the Remick and Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Haverhill, Mass. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. If desired, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church Outreach Program, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842.

Stephen Joseph Sullivan Jr.

ELIOT - Stephen Joseph Sullivan Jr., 75, a lifelong resident of Goodwin Road, died Thursday, June 22, 2000, at York Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born Sept. 21, 1924, in Portsmouth, he was the son of Stephen J. Sr. and Carrie Kennedy Sullivan. He attended Eliot schools and New Hampshire Technical School.

During World War II, he was enlisted in the Navy where he served in the European Theatre. Following his discharge from the Navy, he returned to Eliot, where he later married Sally Wentworth. They resided on Goodwin Road, where they raised their family.

He worked at Easter Air Device in Dover for 16 years and later at Simplex in Newington for 15 years. He enjoyed raising animals, including Scottish highland cattle, Hampshire sheep and Belgium horses. He enjoyed being around his family and cherished the time he spent with them.

In addition to his wife of 36 years, survivors include four daughters, Stephanie Hill of Eliot, Sueanne Fernald of Rollinsford, Sharon Carlson of Eliot and Stacy Ruger of Eliot; a brother, John T. Sullivan of Eliot; a sister, Annie Panter of South Berwick; and nine grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Sullivan.

SULLIVAN - Stephen Joseph Sullivan Jr., 75, of Eliot, died June 22, 2000. There will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mr. Sullivan's family cemetery located on his property at 276 Goodwin Road. The Rev. Warren Conary will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the South Eliot Advent Christian Church Building Fund, 86 Pleasant St., Eliot, ME 03903. Arrangements are by Wilson-Cooper Funeral Home, 21 Rogers Road, Kittery.

Cheryl J. Desjardins

PORTSMOUTH - Cheryl J. (Ford) Desjardins, 63, of 425 Ocean Road, and a longtime resident of Arlington, Mass., died June 17, 2000, in Alexandria, Va., because of complications from surgery.

A Portsmouth resident for more than 24 years, she was the widow of the late Albert E. Desjardins. She was visiting family at the time of her death.

Before moving to Portsmouth, she resided in Stratham and Rye. She worked for Stanley Associates of Portsmouth at the National Visa Center at Pease International Tradeport. Before that employment, she was an office manager for Atlantic Associates of Portsmouth for 10 years, and had been a secretary in a local architectural firm.

A native of Boston, she lived in Arlington for 29 years and was a 1955 graduate of Arlington High School. Before moving to New Hampshire, she worked as an executive secretary for S.S. Pierce Co. of Boston.

She was the daughter of the late Phyllis M. (Smith) Ford and the late James C. "Jimmy" Ford, former manager of the classified advertising department of the old Boston Record American.

Survivors include a son, Thomas J. Desjardins of San Diegocq-no state needed ;three daughters, Air Force Col. Susan Y. Desjardins of Alexandria, Nancy A. Gould of Hampton, and Cheryl M. Lucas of Columbiaville, Mich.; one brother, James C. Ford Jr. of Boca Raton, Fla.; two sisters, Donna J. Cook of Revere, Mass., and Janice A. Lambrych of Arlington; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be June 29, 2000, in Arlington National Cemetery, Va., where her late husband is buried. Funeral arrangements are by Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA. 22302. A memorial service will be held at a later date in New England.

Earlene U. Locke

SEABROOK - Earlene U. Locke, 77, of 41 Causeway St., died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at Exeter Hospital.

A lifelong resident of Seabrook, she was born here Oct. 17, 1922, the daughter of the late Howard A. and Lizzie G. (Moreland) Eaton.

She was a graduate of Amesbury (Mass.) High School, Class of 1940.

A homemaker for most of her life, she worked in the office at the former Barr & Bloomfield Shoe Co., CBS Hytron of Newburyport, Mass.; and in the early 1960s owned and operated a wallpaper and paint store in Seabrook.

She served two three-year terms on the board of selectmen in Seabrook, starting in 1979 and again in 1984. She also served the town by being active in the recreation commission, and serving on the building committees for the community center, the town office building, and the police and fire stations.

Also, she was involved with the sewer project, and water exploration and development project; active in the purchase of the sand dunes on the west side of Route 1A; and served on the planning board and zoning board of adjustment. She was also a former member of the board of directors serving the Seacoast Visiting Nurses Association.

She was a member of Tide Mill Chapter No. 67 O.E.S. of Hampton, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Raymond E. Walton American Legion Post No. 70 of Seabrook.

She was the wife of the late Jerry A. Locke. He died in 1994.

Survivors include two sons, Gordon W. Locke and his wife, Emily, of Litchfield, N.H., and Ronald D. Locke and his wife, Mickey, of Hampton; a daughter, Melanie J. Huddell and her husband, Jim, of Seabrook; a stepson, Jerry W. Brown of Seabrook; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Theda Locke of Newbury, Mass., and Adelia Bakalyan of Lennox, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

LOCKE - Earlene U. Locke, 77, of 41 Causeway St., Seabrook, died June 21, 2000. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Seabrook. Mary Chase

EXETER - Mary "Marcia" Chase, 57, of 29 Hampton Road, died Thursday, June 22, 2000, at her home.

Born Feb. 28, 1943, in Newburyport, Mass., she was the daughter of John M. Chase of Portsmouth and the late Mildred L. (Perfect) Chase.

She worked as a clerk for the former Don's Pharmacy in Exeter for many years.

She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Kensington American Legion Post No. 105.

In addition to her father, survivors include her cousin and lifelong friend Karen L. Brown of Exeter; four nieces, Heidi K. Perkins and her husband, Lawrence, of Seabrook; Sonya M. Batchelder and her husband, Brian, of Kensington; Heather M. Porter and her husband, Michael, of Epping; and Paulette Perreault and her husband, Paul, of Amesbury; and several cousins.

She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Hammond Perreault.

CHASE - Mary Marcia Chase, 57, of 29 Hampton Road, Exeter, died June 22, 2000. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Kensington Congregational Church, Amesbury Road (Route 150), Kensington. Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter. Burial will be in the Village Cemetery, Kensington. Mary S. Robertson

AMESBURY, Mass. - Mary S. Robertson, 87, of 26 East Greenwood St., died Thursday morning at Anna Jaques Hospital.

Born March 3, 1913, in Peekskill, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Westart. She attended St. Joseph's grammar school and Amesbury High School.

She worked at the former Merrimac Hat Shop of Amesbury, then at Western Electric until her retirement.

She was a member of the Bishop Brady Circle No. 141, Daughters of Isabella, and had served as a past regent.

Her survivors include one nephew, John Grandmaison of Hampton; three grandnieces and nephews; and one great-grandniece.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Helen W. Grandmaison and Frances Westart.

ROBERTSON - Mary S. Robertson, 87, of Amesbury, Mass., died June 22, 2000. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, from Paul C. Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Ave., Amesbury, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Parish's St. Joseph's Church, Amesbury. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amesbury. Calling hours will be Friday (today) from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

LATHROP - Richard Lathrop, 80, formerly of Portsmouth, died April 29, 2000, at his home in Zephyrhills, Fla. Memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 24 at Eliot Methodist Church, Route 236, Eliot. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pasco Hospice, 7066 Fort King Road, Zephyrhills, Fla. 33541.

Joseph Tefft Jr.

HAMPTON - Joseph "Bob" Tefft Jr., 76, of 7 Dearborn Ave., died Tuesday, June 20, 2000, at Seacoast Health Center in Hampton, after a brief illness.

Born March 17, 1924, in East Providence, R.I., he was the son of the late Joseph and Marguerite (Corcoran) Tefft.

He was an aerial gunner in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a milkman for HP Hood and Sons in Providence, and later owned and operated Country Belle Motel in Hadley, Mass.

He was the husband of Lillian (McElroy) of Hampton for 43 years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Maureen Johnson, and son-in-law, Sid, of Hampton; a son, Robert Tefft, daughter-in-law, Florence, and grandson, Nicholas of Crestwood, Ky.; a son, Brian Tefft of Philadelphiaap says no state needed with major cities.; two sisters, Rita O'Neil of LaJolla, Calif., and Eileen Buckley of Attleboro, Mass.

TEFFT - Joseph "Bob" Tefft Jr., 76, of 7 Dearborn Ave., Hampton, died Tuesday, June 20, 2000. A memorial service will be celebrated at noon on Sunday, at The Dearborn House, 7 Dearborn Ave., Hampton, NH 03842. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Dearborn House, c/o Barbara Silverstone. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of the arrangements.

Beatrice M. Marchand

MECHANIC FALLS, Maine - Funeral services were held Monday at the Minot Corner Church in Minot for Beatrice M. Marchand, 84, who died Friday, June 16, at the Pine Point Nursing Home.

Born Dec. 9, 1915, in Poland, Maine, she was the daughter of Zeri and Lois Yeaton Berry. She was educated in Mechanic Falls schools.

She worked for more than 40 years as an Avon saleswoman. She also served as a selectwoman for the town of Mechanic Falls. She was a member of the Rebekahs Colfax Lodge No. 27 of Mechanic Falls.

She had lived in the Mechanic Falls area most of her life. She married George Marchand on Sept. 4, 1936, and he died on Jan. 5, 1985.

She is survived by three sons, Barry J. of Bar Mills, Maine, Robert E. of Glastonbury, Conn., and Ted of Rochester, Minn.; a daughter-in-law, Carol; two sisters, Arlene Goold of Belview, Fla., and Gerry Wheeler of Kittery; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Poland. Donations in her memory may be sent to the Joslin Diabetes Foundation, Boston, MA 02109.
