Norma L. Carline
HAMPTON - Norma L. Carline, 68, of 3 Reubens Driftway, died Friday, June 30, 2000, at Exeter Hospital.
Born April 20, 1932, in Malden, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Heber and Edith (Burton) Warren. She resided in Hampton since 1976, coming from Tewksbury, Mass.
She was a graduate of the former Howe High School in Billerica, Mass., and attended Northern Essex Community College.
She worked for the former Seabrook Bank & Trust Co. as an assistant vice president in the commercial loan division for 14 years. More recently, she was the office manager for Priority Personnel Inc., in Newburyport, Mass.
She served on the board of directors of My Greatest Dream and volunteered as coordinator and secretary.
She was the wife of Charles J. Carline Jr. for 51 years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, Charles J. Carline III of Raymond, Stephen J. Carline of Phoenix, Ariz., and Scott W. Carline of Newmarket; two daughters, Ellen E. Fowler of Hampton, and Donna E. Donahue of Eliot; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Schmelzer of Bow, N.H., Joyce McLaughlin of Hampton, and Marjorie Johnston of Naples, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Betty Robinson.
CARLINE - Norma L. Carline, 68, of 3 Reubens Driftway, Hampton, died June 30, 2000. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 200 High St., Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Harry Goldstein
KITTERY - Harry Goldstein, 78, of 11 Cole St., died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at York Hospital.
Born July 21, 1921, in Dover, N.H., he was the son of Bernard and Minnie (Goldstein) Goldstein. He attended local schools and graduated from Dover High School in 1940.
He served his country in World War II as a member of the Army Air Corps.
After the war, he and his family moved from Dover to Kittery where they made their home for more than 50 years.
He was employed by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until his retirement in the power plant as an operator engineer.
He was a dedicated family man, enjoying his children, grandchildren and most recently, his great-grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman, enjoying both time spent lobster fishing on his boat or time on Lake Winnipesaukee on his pontoon boat. He was an avid Red Sox fan, bringing everyday activities to a halt when the Sox were playing.
He was a member of the Ramsdell Rogers Post No. 56 of the American Legion in York and the Frank Booma Post of the Veterans of Foreign War in Portsmouth.
He was the husband of the late Sylvia Silverstein, who died in 1996.
He is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Nancy and Gary King of Athens, Ohio, and Marilyn and James Paul of Easthampton, Mass.; his sister, Gertrude Goldstein of York; grandchildren, Lora Nichols, Denise Johnson, Brian Paul, Jason Paul and Michael Paul; great-grandchildren, Dylan Johnson and Shayne Paul.
He was predeceased by a sister, Ida Bjork, and two brothers, David and Louie Goldstein.
Doris L. Archibald
RAYMOND - Doris L. Archibald, 85, of Old Cart Road, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at Hospice House in Concord following a long illness.
Born June 24, 1915, in Contoocook, she was the daughter of the late George W. Archibald and Marion (Lothrup) (Archibald) Jewell.
She attended area schools and was a graduate of Hopkinton High School, Class of 1934.
She had resided in Portsmouth for many years before moving to Raymond in 1976.
She was employed in the shoe industry throughout her career, working for many years at the Continental Shoe Co. in Portsmouth. She also worked at shoe factories in Dover, Somersworth and Manchester.
Survivors include a sister, Marie L. Foster of Northfield, and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, George W. Archibald Jr. of Concord; and two sisters, Norma A. Archibald of Raymond and Janet B. Loiselle of Pittsburg, N.H.
ARCHIBALD - Doris L. Archibald, 85, of Old Cart Road, Raymond, died June 29, 2000. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. July 1, 2000, at the New Pine Grove Cemetery in Raymond. The Rev. Neil Iverson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CRVNA Hospice House, P.O. Box 1797, Concord, NH 03302-1797. The Brewitt Funeral Home of Raymond is in charge of arrangements.
Eleanor R. Senechal
STRATHAM - Eleanor R. Senechal, 80, of 52 High St., died Thursday, June 29, 2000 at her home.
Born April 16, 1920, in Providence, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Albion P. and Mary E. (Savoy) Willey.
A homemaker, she was raised in Providence and attended schools there. She lived most of her life in Stratham and wintered for many years in Zephyrhills, Fla.
She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church in Exeter.
She was the wife of the late Leo H. Senechal.
Survivors include one son, Glenn R. Senechal and his wife, Seila, of Stratham; one daughter, Carol Rohr and her husband, Gary, of Stratham; four grandchildren; one brother, Richard Willey of Exeter; two sisters, Helen B. Carlson of Virginia Beach, Va., and Roberta DeSchenes of Kingston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
SENECHAL - Eleanor R. Senechal, of 52 High St., Stratham, died June 29, 2000. Private services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arthur J. Landers
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Arthur J. Landers, 69, of Rossmoor Circle, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Holmes Regional Medical Center.
Born in Salem, Mass, he came to Brevard County in 1986, from Greenland, N.H. He was the owner of L.F.&P. Inc. Manufacturing and Packaging Co. of Melbourne and Portsmouth.
He attended the Episcopal church.
He was a past master of the Mosaic F.A.& M. Lodge in Danvers, Mass.; past master of the Lodge of Instruction in Danvers; and a Little League coach and manager for 25 years, also in Danvers.
He was the husband of Nancy A. Landers, of Melbourne.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, James A. Landers of Madbury; a brother, Neil Landers of Kentucky; a sister, Winifred MacIssac of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
LANDERS - Arthur J. Landers, 69, of Rossmoor Circle, Melbourne, Fla., died Tuesday, June 27, 2000. Calling hours are 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at North Brevard Funeral Home. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Sunday at North Brevard Chapel Funeral Home, 1450 Norwood Ave., Titusville, FL 32796.
John Alden Weare
CAPE NEDDICK - John Alden Weare, 74, formerly of Circuit Road, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at the Homestead Nursing Home in Kittery.
Born Dec. 22, 1925, in York, he was the son of George D. and Helen (Shum) Weare. A graduate of Tilton Academy in Tilton, N.H., he served on the USS Wasp aircraft carrier as a radarman during World War II.
For 30 years, he had worked in the supply department of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He also owned and operated the Pasture Spring Motel in York for several years.
He was a former trustee of the Ogunquit Library, and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Boardman-Ellis Post No. 6977 and a member of St. Aspinquid Masonic Lodge of York.
He was also an avid reader.
Survivors include one sister, Barbara Grover, and one brother, William H. Weare, both of Cape Neddick.
WEARE - John A., 74, formerly of Circuit Road, Cape Neddick, died June 28, 2000, in Kittery. Services will be private. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Ogunquit Memorial Library, PO Box 753, Ogunquit, ME 03907. Arrangements by the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, York.
Clayton O. Wright
DOVER - Clayton O. Wright, 58, of 126 Watson Road, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at 430 Rochester Hill Road in Rochester, after a sudden illness.
Born Oct. 29, 1941, in Lowell, Mass., he was the son of the late Stanley and Cornelia (Trumbull) Wright. He resided in Dover for the past 31 years.
He was a graduate of Traip Academy, Class of 1960, then went on to graduate from Maine Maritime. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was apartment manager for Profile Apartments and worked full time for Foster's Daily Democrat as a truck driver. Prior to that time he worked at Ed Burns Auto sales in Dover and had received Salesman of the Year for six consecutive years.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed spending time with his family, boating and sports.
He was the husband of Charlene (Magoon) Wright of Dover for 28 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Richard E. Yoblonsky Jr. of Portsmouth; daughters, Mrs. Russell (Cassandra) Powers and Mrs. Scott (Kriscinda) Adams, both of Fremont, N.H.; one grandchild, Karissa Adams of Fremont; a sister, Mildred Roberge of Kittery; a brother, Archer Wright of California; and one nephew.
Betty A. Ford
HAMPTON - Betty A. Ford, 82, a longtime resident of Hampton, died Monday, June 26, 2000, at the Exeter Healthcare.
Born Oct. 12, 1917, in England, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Lillian (Holbrook) Harvey.
She was raised and attended schools in England, where she met her husband, the late John R. Ford, during World War II. After the war and her marriage, she moved to Hampton.
She worked as an office superviser for the Hampton Water Works for many years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and had been very active in the various activities and committees of the church. She was a 45-year charter member and past master of the Oceanside Grange No. 260 and over the years held all the other offices in the Grange. She was also a 45-year member of the East Rockingham Pomona Grange, the State Grange and National Grange, where she served on the Home Economics Committee.
She was a volunteer for the F.I.S.H. program and was also an elementary-level school volunteer.
Survivors include two sons, Frederick Ford and his wife, Blanche, of Westborough, Mass., and John R. Ford Jr. of Hampton; one daughter, Kathleen Smith and her husband, Phil, of Burlington, Conn.; one brother, Charles Hanley, and one sister, Margaret Corney, both of England; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
FORD - Betty A. Ford, a longtime resident of Hampton, died Monday, June 26, 2000. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at the United Methodist Church, Hampton. Marie C. Gerrato
PORTSMOUTH - Marie C. Gerrato, 77, of 245 Ocean Road, devoted wife of Al Gerrato for more than 50 years, died of bladder cancer Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at her home.
Born Jan. 29, 1923, in Valley Stream, Long Island, N.Y., she was the daughter of William and Barbara (Kraus) Schmidt.
She attended local schools and graduated from Valley Stream Central High School in June 1941, where she was a member of the band and orchestra. She also was a graduate of the Muriel Ranson Junior College in New York.
Mrs. Gerrato worked as a preschool educator for several years.
She was an Air Force service wife for many years. She loved the military life and traveled all over the country with her husband and family and cherished all of the friendships she made.
She was a member of the Portsmouth YMCA for more than 3 1/2 years and wholeheartedly supported all its wonderful programs. Her friends she made at the "Y" was one of the last things that she talked about in her last hours.
In addition to her husband, Alphonse, survivors include a son, Stephen, and his wife, Gail, of Greenland; a daughter, Marilyn K. Beidleman and her husband Cliff, of Londonderry; one sister, Madeline Wendell of Falmouth, Maine; five grandchildren, Scott and David Gerrato, Eric, Karen and Kim Beidleman, and two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Samantha.
She was predeceased by two brothers, George and Harold.
She was a caring and loving person who only saw and talked about the "good" in people.
Mrs. Gerrato supported all worthwhile causes and never turned down a donation request from any of them. Her wish is that her husband continue to support all those causes that she dearly loved.
GERRATO - Marie C. Gerrato, 77, of 245 Ocean Road, Portsmouth, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000. Her request was that there be no funeral, no wake, and no calling hours.
