Robert Allen Allard
Robert Allen Allard, 76, of Lower Landing Mobile Home Park in Charlestown, died Dec. 21, 2000, at the Sullivan County Nursing Home in Unity.
He was born in Madison on May 6, 1924, the son of Charles and Alvena Martha (Smith) Allard and had resided in Charlestown most of his life.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Allard retired in 1986 from United Construction Company of Newport where he worked as a heavy equipment operator, and he had previously worked for Frank W. Whitcomb for nearly 20 years and for Pike Industries for several years.
He was a 51-year member, past commander and also held various offices including vice commander of the 6th District of Roswell D. Whitcomb American Legion Post 53 of Charlestown and was a life member and past commander of the Oliver Lacasse VFW Post 808 of Claremont. He enjoyed his grandchildren's sports activities and hunting and fishing.
The family incudes his wife, Mrs. Lolita Faye (Emerson) Allard of Charlestown, whom he married on July 28, 1951; four daughters, Mrs. Harold (Pamela) Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mrs. Roger (Diane) Moul of Saxton River, Vt., Mrs. Michael (Cheryl) Ravlin of Charlestown and Roberta Jackson of White Springs, Fla.; one son, Curtis Allard and his wife, Kathleen, of Claremont; seven grandchildren, James, Kristi, Ericka, Gayle, Stacie, Cassandra and Robert; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elizabeth Sheaff of Conway and Ada Kiesman of Fryeburg.
Graveside committal services will be held at a later date in the spring in the Gilman Cemetery in Madison.
The Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary A. Abate
CONWAY - Mary A. Abate, 80, of North Conway, died Dec. 19, 2000, at the Merriman House in North Conway following a long illness.
Born in Saracena, Italy, the daughter of Frank and Antoinette (Gailiano) Covello, she immigrated to the United States in 1925. Mrs. Abate had lived in Malden, Mass., for 72 years prior to moving to North Conway in 1997.
The family includes a son, Frank Renzello, of Malden, Mass.; three daughters, Antoinette Moore, of Norfolk, Va., Rita Champagne, of North Conway, and Maryann Crawford, of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, Leonard Covello, of Warwick, R.I.; a sister, Anne Indorato, of Malden, Mass.; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of the Mountains Church in North Conway. Burial will be at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, Mass. There will be no visiting hours. Donations may be sent to The Merriman House Activities Fund, P.O. Box 5001, North Conway, NH 03860.

James Robert Mosto
Mr. James Robert Mosto, 65, of Lawrence, Mass., died Dec. 19, 2000, at his winter residence in North Conway.
He was born in Lawrence and educated in the Lawrence schools. A graduate of Lawrence High School, Mr. Mosto received his degree in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University in Boston. He attended Holy Rosary Church.
Mr. Mosto loved to ski and had skied in Europe and out West. He was a member of The Ski Bee ski club, and was vice president of the Mr. Rogers Ski Club, both in North Conway. He enjoyed building model airplanes. Mr. Mosto also enjoyed traveling, especially to Australia.
He was employed at Saunders Associates for 26 years as a mechanical engineer until his retirement this past September.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Rose Mosto, of Lawrence, wife of his late brother, John Mosto; one niece and one nephew; and many friends.
Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen, Mass.
A funeral mass will be on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
Earle B. Grant
Earle B. Grant, 71, of Harrodsburg, Ky., died Dec. 2, 2000, in Boston, Mass.
Born Feb. 8, 1929 in Glen, he was the son of the late William and Hattie Grant and the youngest brother of the late Ervin Grant and Edward Grant, both of Glen.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; son, George Grant, of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter, Sharon Moran and grandson, William Moran, of Mink Creek, Ind. He is also survived by a twin brother, Merle Grant, of Danville, Ky.; an aunt, Gladys Woolner, of Hooksett, NH; and several nieces and nephews.
He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1951 and served in the Korean War until 1953. He held several positions as a civil servant with the U.S. government and retired in 1988. He was an active member of Southside Christian Church in Harrodsburg, Ky.
A memorial service was held at Southside Christian Church on Dec. 8. Donations in his name may be made to Southside Christian Church, P.O. Box 456, Harrodsburg, Ky. 40030.
Thomas E. Daley
CONWAY - Thomas E. Daley, 88, of North Conway, died Dec. 17, 2000, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in North Conway after a long illness.
Born in Meeker, Colo., the son of Thomas and Mary (Proulx) Daley, he grew up in Lowell, Mass. He lived in Millis, Mass. for three years and in Midland, Park, N.J. for three years before moving to North Conway in 1949.
Mr. Daley graduated from Lowell (Mass.) High School in 1930. Bendix Corporation had employed him in Massachusetts as a research machinist for several years and he was head machinist for Gorel and Gorel Corp., in Riveredge, N.J. for three years.
In 1949, he purchased the Kennison Farm on Cranmore Mountain Road, and established the Latchstring Inn, which he operated until 1957. Mr. Daley also formed Tom Daley Movers in 1949, which he operated until 1985 at which time his son took over the business operation.
He had been a deacon at OLM Church for several years.
The family includes his son, Thomas L. Daley of Wonalancet; his daughter, Judith Snider-Eastman of Center Conway; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Daley of Pelham; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Mountains Church in North Conway. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Mountains Cemetery later in the spring. There will be no visiting hours. Donations may be sent to the SunBridge Activities Fund in North Conway or the charity of one's choice.

Dorothy A. Lowry
GLEN - Dorothy A. Lowry, 63, of Glen, died Dec. 17, 2000, at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway, following a long illness.
Born in East Boston, Mass., the daughter of Louis and Lucy (Papa) DeFilippis, she grew up in Medford, Mass., and lived in Woburn, Mass., for 22 years before moving to Glen in 1988.
Mrs. Lowry graduated from Medford (Mass.) High School, class of 1954. She was an avid hiker, biker, skier and runner and an excellent cook. She was a member of the White Mountain Milers. The family includes her husband of 23 years, Robert E. Lowry of Glen; a daughter, Leanne Leonard of North Reading, Mass.; two sons, Robert Juliano of Reading, Mass., and Joseph Juliano of Woburn, Mass.; six grandchildren and a sister, Gilda Sacco of Medford, Mass. Her sister, Mary Molica, predeceased her in 1973.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held today (Tuesday) at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of the Mountains Church in North Conway. There will be no visiting hours. Donations may be sent to Jen's Friends, P.O. Box 1842, North Conway, 03860.

Mary Elizabeth Miller
Mary Elizabeth Miller, formerly of Kennebunkport, Maine, died in Winchester, Mass., on Dec. 12, 2000, after a lengthy illness. She was 87.
Mrs. Miller was born in Philadelphia, Pa., in 1913, the daughter of Lucius and Lillie (Keim) Beebe, and attended the Agnes Irwin School in Philadelphia. She made her debut in Philadelphia in 1932 and was presented at Court to King George V and Queen Mary the same year.
Mrs. Miller was the wife of the late Leslie Quentin Miller, who was on the financial staff of David Rockefeller. The Millers resided in Scarsdale, NY, for 35 years. In 1980 they moved to Kennebunkport where Mr. Miller died in 1983, after 46 years of marriage.
Mrs. Miller was a lifelong volunteer serving a number of organizations and individuals in Scarsdale and Kennebunkport as well as in her native Philadelphia. She worked with many official charities, but just as frequently and on her own, she simply offered quiet help to people in need.
Mrs. Miller is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Norris of Winchester, Mass.; Leslie Schomaker of Jackson, NH and formerly Kennebunkport; and Nancy Nygreen of White Plains, NY. She also leaves five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the South Congregational Church in Kennebunkport on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. Contributions in Mrs. Miller's memory may be made to the Kennebunkport Public Health and Nursing Service, P.O. Box 367, Kennebunkport, Maine 04046.
