Mildred Morrisette
EXETER - Mildred V. Morrisette, 88, of Linden Street, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at her daughter’s home in Florida after a brief illness.
She was born June 8, 1913, in Exeter, the daughter of Walter and Lou (Marston) Parshley.
She was a lifelong resident of Exeter. She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church of Exeter.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Jubb of Melbourne, Fla.; three sons, Paul Morrisette, Donald Morrisette and Gary Morrisette, all of Exeter; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Murphy of Exeter; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Nelson J. Morrisette, who died in 1996 after 59 years of marriage, and one grandson, Kenneth Morrisette, who died in 1987.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, Exeter. Burial will follow in the Exeter Cemetery, Exeter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Exeter area Visiting Nurses Association.
Georgia Reily
RYE - Mrs. Georgia V. (Coombs) Reily, 86, of 795 Washington Rd., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
She was born in Peabody, Mass., on March 26, 1915, the daughter of David W. and Florence Emma (Larrabee) Coombs. She was a graduate of Peabody High School, Class of 1933.
Mrs. Reily was an avid reader. She loved living at Webster At Rye and enjoyed her many friendships there.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank W. Reily Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Judith E. Moskevich and her husband, Nick of Portsmouth; a son, Wayne P. Reily and his wife, Mary of Amesbury, Mass.; four grandchildren, Paul Moskevich of Buxton, Maine, Neil Moskevich of Hampton, Amy Keniston of Peabody and Emily Reily of Dover; four great-grandchildren, Brian Moskevich, Kevin Moskevich, Laura Moskevich and Ryan Moskevich; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at J. Verne Wood Funeral Home, Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth. Friends invited.
Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the chapel. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made in her memory to a charity of one’s choice.
Phyllis Remick
ELIOT, Maine - Phyllis H. Remick, 87, of Pleasant Street, died suddenly, Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at Portsmouth Hospital.
Born in Eliot on Dec. 22, 1913, she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert S. Remick. She attended local schools graduating from Eliot High School, Class of 1930, where she was an active member of the Alumni Association.
Miss Remick worked for F.W. Woolworth in Portsmouth, N.H., where she was a bookkeeper for many years.
She was a past matron and member of Piscataqua Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of Kittery and member of Sara Orne Jewitt Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of South Berwick. She was a past master and member of the John Hill Grange of Eliot, York Pomona, Maine State Grange and National Grange.
She is survived by her sisters, Alberta and Laura Remick of Eliot; her brother, Charles and his wife, Lena Remick of Eliot; and a niece and nephew.
A funeral will be held Monday, Nov. 18, at 11 a.m. the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road/U.S. Route 1 By-Pass, Kittery. Friends and family may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made in her memory to the William Fogg Library, Old Road, Eliot; or to the First Congregational Church of Eliot, 149 State Rd., Eliot, ME 03904.

Margaret Saunders
YORK, Maine - Margaret “Peggy” Saunders, 62, of Avon Avenue, formerly of Sanbornton, N.H., died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, shortly before 9 a.m. She died at home with members of her family at her side after a courageous battle with kidney cancer.
She was born July 28, 1939, in Providence, R.I., the daughter of Anthony and Margaret (Mello) Santos and graduated from St. Mary’s Bay View Academy in Pawtucket, R.I.
At the time of her death, she was an administrative assistant for Watts Regulator in Franklin, N.H., where she worked for the last 28 years. At the same time, she was the treasurer for the Webster Valve Employees Federal Credit Union in Franklin.
She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Portsmouth, N.H. She was dedicated to protecting children and originated the N.H. “Kassidy’s” Petition effort to change laws related to child abuse.
The light of her life was her 3-year-old granddaughter, Katherine Ruth Mahoney. All who knew her loved her wit, sense of humor, spunk and sensitivity. She was an avid fan of Broadway musicals, figure skating and community theatre.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Jennifer (Saunders) and son-in-law, Timothy Mahoney of York; granddaughter, Katherine Ruth Mahoney of York; four sisters, Ruth Ann Santos of Seekonk, Mass., Nancy Ann Santos of Riverside, R.I., Marilyn and her husband, Robert Goff, of Rehoboth, Mass., and Mary Ann Santos of New York, N.Y.; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and devoted friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 98 Summer St., Portsmouth, N.H. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lucas and Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York.

Ronald Scott
NORTH CONWAY - Ronald James Scott, 38, of Route 16, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, after a sudden illness.
Born Jan. 10, 1963, in Rochester, he was the son of William A. Jr. and Caroline (Stewart) Scott. Mr. Scott has lived in North Conway for the past eight years after moving from Gonic.
He was a carpenter employed by Glen Builders as a foreman. He was a proud, lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, a loyal member of the Mountain Men Motorcycle Club, past member of the 5th Chapter Motorcycle Club.
He participated in many charity runs such as Toys for Tots to collect toys for needy children. He was never happier than when he was riding his Harley Davidson with his motorcycle “brothers.” He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his two sons, brothers and friends.
He is survived by his parents, William A. Jr. and Caroline “Kitty” (Stewart) Scott of Berwick, Maine; his maternal grandmother, Theresa M. Stewart of Bartlett; paternal grandparents, William A. and Flora Scott of Somersworth; his beloved lady of eight years, Michelle Green of North Conway; his sons, Ronald J. of Rochester and Justin J. of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; his brothers, Daniel L. Scott of Milton, William A. Scott III of Berwick and Joseph S. Scott and his wife, Tamara of Wakefield; aunts and uncles; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandfather, Leslie Stewart, in 1993 and an uncle, Joseph L. Stewart in 1966.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9 at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Whitford, pastor, officiating.
A private family burial will be in the Lovell Lake Cemetery at a later date.
Doris Young
PORTSMOUTH - Doris E. Young, 84, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
She was born May 4, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She graduated from Jamaica High School, N.Y., and completed two years of college.
She was the wife of the late Wilbur Young and lived for many years in Manhasset, N.Y., Mattituck, N.Y., and Indian River Shores. Fla. She was a former member of the Congregational Church of Manhasset. She was a superintendent of the Sunday school, a member of the Woman’s Club, on various boards, a past president of the Eastern Star and also a Girl Scout leader for many years.
She was predeceased by her sister, Helen.
She is survived by her three children, Everett Young and his wife, Anne-Marie of Manhasset, N.Y., Donald Young and his wife, Judith of Port Washington, N.Y., and Barbara Woodman and her husband, Ralph of Rye; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Congregational Church of Manhasset, N.Y. Burial will follow the services in the Cutchogue Cemetery, Cutchogue, N.Y., at 2 p.m.

A. Louise Hester
ROCHESTER - A. Louise Proulx Hester, 73, of 4 Villanova Lane died Tuesday Nov. 13, 2001, at the Dover Rehabilitation & Living Center.
Born in Dover on May 20, 1928, the daughter of Clifford N. Smith and Martha (Eschman) Smith Richey. She attended Dover schools and lived in Dover for most of her life prior to moving to Rochester six years ago. She loved animals especially her Siamese cats.
Prior to her retirement she was a longtime employee of the Eastern Air Devices of Dover.
She was the widow of retired Dover police Capt. Paul Proulx who died in 1981.
She is survived by her husband, George J. Hester Jr., of Rochester; a daughter, Linda Proulx Seaward and her husband, Daniel O. Seaward Jr., of Kittery Point, Maine; two grandchildren, Daniel O. Seaward III and Johnna Seaward; six grandchildren, Sherry Hester Lucius of Rochester, Dennis Hester of Conway, Brian Hester and his wife, Deborah, of Dover, George Hester and his wife, Cyndi, of Raymond, Carol Ann George and her husband, Joseph, of Dover and Matthew J. Hester of Portsmouth; 14 step-grandchildren; a brother, Robert C. Smith and his wife, Mary Ann, of Dover; two nieces, Mrs. Patrick (Betsy) Magee of Richmond, Va. and Catherine Smith of Somersworth.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Tasker Funeral Home with the Rev. Fritz Cerullo, OSA, pastor of St. Mary’s Church officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Margaret Karter
SOMERSWORTH - Margaret F. Karter, 94, of 910 Tri-City Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at the Dover Rehabilitation and Living Center.
She was born Aug. 12, 1907, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of Edward S. and Lucy M. (Monahan) Fisher and had resided in Boston and New York for many years prior to moving to this area 38 years ago.
While in Boston, she was a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association and while in Somersworth, she was a member of the Strafford County Retired Teacher’s Association.
She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John A. Karter of Somersworth; two nephews, David E. Fisher of North Abington, Mass., and Robert E. McGrath of Walpole, Mass.; one niece, Jayne E. Shanning of Westwood, Mass.; many grandnephews and grandnieces.
Family and friends may visit Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 404 High St.

John MacGregor Sr.
ALFRED, Maine - John W. "Chappy" MacGregor Sr., 86, of Alfred died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at the Greenwood Center in Sanford.
He was born on Aug. 31, 1915, in Winthrop, Mass., the son of Fred E. and Helen E. Gibbons MacGregor. He was raised in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop High School.
On April 20, 1940, Mr. MacGregor married Bernadette Merrill. Together they moved from Winthrop to Maplewood and began to raise a family. Mr. MacGregor worked for the Baker Company from its establishment in 1950 until he retired in 1980. Following retirement Mr. and Mrs. MacGregor moved to Greenbush. They stayed there until moving to Alfred last year.
Mr. MacGregor was said to be a great help to all his friends and family. His experience in metal and woodworking allowed him to help out on many needed repairs and construction of useful devices. He also enjoyed collecting several different things.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years Bernadette "Betty" MacGregor of Alfred; two sons, John W. Jr. of Sebago, James A. of Parsonsfield; a daughter Kathleen S. Gerry of Limerick; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Corinne Moreland
HAINES CITY, Fla. - Corinne A. Moreland, 69, of Haines City, died of cancer on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.
She was born in Rochester, N.H., on July 5, 1932, and lived in Haines City for 20 years, previously living in Winter Haven.
She was a bookkeeper at Citrus Industry prior to her retirement.
She is survived by one son, Dennis Moreland of Lake Mary; one daughter, Nancy Walden of Lakeland; one brother, Norman Poisson of Center Ossipee, N.H.; one sister, Shirley Leather of Somersworth, N.H.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nelson.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Lake Hamilton Baptist Church in Lake Hamilton.
Mary Paine
EXETER - Mary Page Teele Paine, 98, died of natural causes on Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at The Eventide Home of Exeter.
She was born Aug. 1, 1903, the daughter of Arthur Page Teele and Winifred Whittemore Teele. She had lived in Exeter since 1985.
She graduated from Radcliffe College in 1925. As a young adult she was employed as a social service caseworker in Boston, a librarian with Boston’s Kirstein Business Library, and an administrative assistant at Columbia University.
In 1935 she married David Paine, M.D., and they lived for the next 50 years in Waltham and Belmont, Mass. Dr. Paine died, in Exeter, in 1991.
Mrs. Paine was an active volunteer in church and community groups, among them the International Institute in Boston. A foreign-language and travel enthusiast, she studied Latin, French, German, Italian, and Russian. She was an accomplished pianist, a writer of publicity articles for community groups, and for several years a Girl Scout leader.
From 1950 on she coordinated Radcliffe Class of ‘25, published news, and helped plan class reunions. Her interests included family events, opera, symphony, theater, gardening, and hiking.
She served on the steering committee for the Appalachian Mountain Club Echo Lake Camp in Acadia National Park.
Mrs. Paine volunteered at Exeter Hospital and drove for the Rockingham Nutrition Meals on Wheels program.
She is survived by her daughter and by her son-in-law, Randall A. Kezar, of Kingston; grandsons, Amory Whittemore Kezar and Randall Paine Kezar; a niece, Sylvia Teele Harper of Rockport, Mass.; a nephew, David Teele M.D., of Queenstown, New Zealand; and twelve grandnieces and grandnephews
She was predeceased by a son, Paul Mayo Paine, who was born and died in 1943.
A service of celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m., at the Unitarian Church on Elm Street in Exeter. An informal reception, at the parish hall, will follow.
