Wilbur F. Emery
ELIOT - Wilbur F. Emery, 74, of 55A Pleasant St., died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston after a brief illness.
Born Aug. 7, 1925, in Kittery Point, he was the son of Milton W. and Annie (Langley) Emery and was educated at Traip Academy.
He moved to Eliot more that 40 years ago. He was the owner of Home Oil Company for 20 years. He then worked for the Interstate Bridge Authority Maintenance Department for 20 years and as a State of New Hampshire Bridge operator for 10 years, retiring in 1996.
He enjoyed many summers at his cottage on Mousem Lake with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed woodworking, swimming, traveling, spending time in Rangley, Maine and Bluegrass festivals. He was loved deeply and will be greatly missed.
He was predeceased by his father.
He was the husband of Helen Emery of Eliot for 50 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Larry Emery and his wife, Sylvia, of Acton, Maine and Lee Emery and his wife, Donna of Eliot.; his mother; a sister, Marlene Sharp, of Kittery Point; four grandchildren, Christina, Noah, Tim and Rachel; and several nephews.
Eugene D. Brousseau
NEWMARKET - Eugene D. Brousseau, 88, of Ash Swamp Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999 at the Rockingham Nursing Home, Brentwood.
Born July 15, 1911 in Columbia, Conn., he was the son of Delar and Alice (Brault) Brousseau. He lived in East Hartford, Conn. for many years before moving to Newmarket.
He was employed with United Technology, Pratt & Whitney for many years, retiring in 1976.
For the past 17 years, he has enjoyed living on Ash Swamp Road, raising animals and tending to his garden. He also enjoyed watching horse-pulling at local fairs. He was known to most people as "Peppre" and wore a variety of colorful hats.
Mr. Brousseau is survived by four sons, Eugene, Paul and Mark Brousseau, all of Newmarket and Harry Brousseau of Strafford; two daughters, Nancy LaBranche of Newfields and Charlene Mitchell of Newmarket; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Vivian Moore of Storrs, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Amy Brousseau, a brother, Raymond Brousseau, and a sister, Rita Plude.

Michael J. Arundel
HAMPTON - Michael J. Arundel, 70, of 4 Cogger St., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999 at Exeter Healthcare.
Born Sept. 22, 1929, in Roxbury, Mass., he was the son of the late Michael J. and Katherine (Beades) Arundel.
He was a 1949 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School. A veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, he served with the Air Force for 21 years, retiring as a technical sergeant. After his retirement from the service, he worked at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for a short time.
A resident of Hampton since 1965, he was a member of the Hampton American Legion Post No. 35, Piscataqua Chapter No. 4 Disabled American Veterans of Newington, Air Force Sergeants Association, the Retired Enlisted Association and AARP.
He was the husband of C. Marilyn (Galvin) Arundel for 45 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael J. Arundel and Stephen P. Arundel, both of Hampton; three daughters, Janet L. Hepner of Tucson, Ariz., Kelly M. Arundel of Exeter, N.H. and Danielle E. Russell of Okinawa, Japan; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Genevieve E. Karkota
PORTSMOUTH - Genevieve E. (Lande) Karkota, 75, of 1161 Woodbury Ave., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Born May 25, 1924 in Wallingford, Iowa, she was the daughter of Oliver T. and Emma T. (Akre) Lande.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Karkota worked in civil service as a secretary.
She was the wife of retired Senior Master Sgt. Alexander J. Karkota, Air Force.
In addition to her husband of 55 years, she is survived by two daughters, Marilee Karkota Clark and Alexis Zaricki, both of Portsmouth; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Kent Lande of Virginia; two sisters, Gladyce Pierson of Minneapolis, Minn. and Bernetta Hirsch of Fairfield Bay, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.
Arthur B. Ireland
GRAYSON, Ga. - Arthur B. Ireland, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999.
Born Oct. 24, 1919 in Greenland, N.H., he was the son of John M. and Florence M. (Coleman) Ireland.
Mr. Ireland served in the Army during World War II. Before his retirement, he was a supervisor for Puckett Paving Company in Lilburn, Ga.
He was a member of the Greenland Community Congregational Church in Greenland, N.H.
He was the husband of Charlotte (Pounds) Ireland of Grayson.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, David Ireland of Marshall, N.C.; a daughter, Susan Wright of College Park, Ga.; a granddaughter, Cindy Wright of Grayson, Ga.; a brother, Roger Ireland of Maine; a sister, Jennie Falls and her husband, Charlie, of Greenland; and several nieces and nephews.
Alfred S. Coren
PORTSMOUTH - Alfred S. Coren, 83, of Middle Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999 at his home.
Born Aug. 24, 1916, in Boston, he was the son of Hyman and Hanna (Levine) Coren. He spent his early years in Boston and graduated from Andover High School in New Hampshire. He received an associate's degree in computer science from Massachusetts Bay Community College.
He had resided in Needham, Mass. from 1955 to 1997 when he moved to Portsmouth to be with his son and family. He was owner and operator of Steval Service, Brookline, Mass. from 1953 to 1981 and was a member of the Inventors Association of Massachusetts. He held two U.S. patents.
He was a longtime town meeting member in Needham, a former member of the Needham Commission on disabilities and a recipient of its Outstanding Service Award in 1995, a former member of the Glover Deaconess Hospital in Needham and a 50-year member of the Kearsarge Masonic Lodge, Andover, N.H. He was also the recipient of the Needham Exchange Club Award for Community Service.
He was the husband of the late Florence (MacKenzie) Coren. She died in 1986.
Survivors include two sons, Peter B. Coren of Portsmouth, N.H. and Stephen A. Coren of Cambridge, Mass.; and two grandsons, Nicholas and Noah.
Daniel McCarthy
HAMPTON FALLS - Daniel McCarthy, 65, of Hampton Falls N.H., died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Saints Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born Nov. 11, 1933, in Lowell, Mass., he was a son of the late Ralph J. and the late Rosalind (Whelan) McCarthy, and was educated in the local schools.
Mr. McCarthy served with the Army during the Korean Conflict.
After his honorable discharge, he worked in his parents' diner, "The Peerless Diner." He then moved to Hampton Beach and owned and operated the Seabreeze Village Motel. He later became a general contractor, building in the Hampton area until he retired in 1987.
He was an avid horseman who owned Morgan Horses, showing them in the New England area. He also loved sailing. He made his home in Hampton Falls N.H., and was a communicant of St. Rita's Church.
He was the husband of Cecile N. (Unice) McCarthy for 41 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Daniel J. McCarthy of Greenland, N.H.; a daughter, Charleen K. McCarthy of Pelham, N.H.; two grandchildren; two brothers, Francis C. McCarthy and John C. McCarthy both of New Hampshire; his close friends, John Surprenant of Pelham, Melanie and Rita Vlaharis, both of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara A. Moynahan
RYE - Barbara A. Moynahan, 62, of 170 of Central Road, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999 while vacationing in Colorado.
Born Sept. 30, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Russell and Madeline (Brown) Boice. She was raised in Philadelphia and graduated from The Uppermoreland High School and from the former Abington Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Pennsylvania in 1958. She had been a Rye resident since 1959.
Mrs. Moynahan worked as a registered nurse for several years at the Portsmouth Hospital and then for 10 years at Portsmouth Internal Medicine, retiring in 1987.
She served the Town of Rye as treasurer of the school district for two terms during the 1970s, served coffee and refreshments to the town's firefighters on the scenes of local fires, and was an advocate or handicapped persons working through the parent Information Center. She was also a member of the White Mountains Decorative Painter's Guild, of the National Association of Tole and Decorative Painters of the Rye Arts & Crafts Club.
Mrs. Moynahan was the wife of George W. Moynahan for 39 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Stephen Moynahan of Dover; three daughters, Teresa Moynahan Heath and her husband, Thomas, of Center Ossipee, Noreen Moynahan of Rye, and Amy Moynahan and her companion, Darrell Rugg, of Greenland; two grandchildren, Seth and Mary Moynahan; two step-grandchildren, Kristan and Sarah Heath; a stepmother, Margaret Boice of Broomfield, Colo.; a brother, Russell T. Boice of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Vera Bunch of Plumsteadville, Penn.; a half-brother, Tom Boice of Guatemala; a half-sister, Betsy Ansteensen of Broomfield, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Paul E. DeRochemont
NEW BOSTON - Paul Edward DeRochemont, 65, of 226 Joe English Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999.
Born in Portsmouth, N.H., he was the son of Orville and Phylis (Goodwin) DeRochemont. Mr. DeRochemont had been a resident of New Boston for the past 30 years. He was an Army veteran.
He had been employed for 29 years as a mechanic with the Public Service Company of New Hampshire. He was also a 20-year member of the New Boston Police Department, having served as assistant chief. Following his retirement, Mr. DeRochemont had worked part-time at Dobles Chevrolet and Autofair, both of Manchester. He was a member of the New Boston Fire Department and Law Enforcement Association. He was an active league bowler at Kings Lane for many years.
He was predeceased by his stepmother, Virginia (Giles) DeRochemont.
Mr. DeRochemont was the husband of Romono E. (Kluesener) for 43 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Troy G. DeRochemont of Weare, N.H. and Todd E. DeRochemont of New Boston; three daughters, Tammy J. Paul of Goffstown, N.H., Tina M. DeRochemont and Tanya DeRochemont, both of New Boston; two brothers, Orville DeRochemont of South Berwick, Maine and Ronald DeRochemont of Rye, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.
John H. Ruocco
NEWMARKET - John H. Ruocco Jr., 60, of Doe Farm Lane, formerly of Lynn, Mass., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999 at his home following a brief illness.
Born in Lynn, Mass., he was the son of the late John H. Ruocco Sr. and Ruth E. (Lovett) Ruocco. He graduated from Lynn English High School and resided in Lynn for many years until moving to Newmarket.
He was the owner and operator of Rock's Service, Electric Plumbing & Heating for 20 years. He was previously employed at the General Electric Company as an aircraft development analyst for 14 years and also was a community development construction specialist in Exeter, N.H. for four years.
Mr. Ruocco was a Vietnam veteran having served in the Air Force as a sergeant.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Newmarket, a life member of the American Legion Post No. 32, the Disabled American Veterans Post No. 13 Squamscott, a member of the Kiwanis Club in Exeter, a 50-year member of the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the New Hampshire Rifle Association. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Ruocco was the husband of Claire A. (O'Connell) Ruocco.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, David J. Ruocco and his wife, Laura, of East Kingston, N.H.; a daughter, Joyce A. Ruocco of Newmarket; a brother, David M. Ruocco of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Ruth E. Troy of Lynn; two grandchildren, Ashley and Christopher Ruocco; and several nieces and nephews.
Clara M. Fournier
DOVER - Clara "Claire" Mary Fournier, 65, of 1003 Woodbury Ave., died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a long bout with cancer.
Born July 7, 1934, she was the daughter of James and Catherine Parcell.
She was a resident of Dover for 17 years, having recently moved to Portsmouth. Claire was employed with General Electric of Somersworth, and was a member of the Moose of Dover. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church of Dover.
She was the wife of Lew Fournier of Portsmouth.
In addition to her husband, Claire is survived by a daughter, Susan Dame of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur Parcell of Lynnfield, Mass., James Parcell Jr. of Somersworth and Raymond Parcell of Rochester, N.H.; two sisters, Irene Argereow of Portsmouth and Marcia Albandoz of Boston, Mass.
Kenneth A. Boardman
ROCKLAND - Kenneth A. Boardman, 85, of Shore Village Nursing Home, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999 at the Pen Bay Medical Center.
Born June 14, 1914 in Jefferson, Maine, he was the son of the late Herbert and Flora (Lash) Boardman.
He was employed as a nurse for many years in the mid-Maine area. He was a master electrician who owned his own business for a number of years.
During World War II, he was Naval electrical inspector on ATR tugboats at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He also spent a year in radio, having broadcasted from WRDO with his own show, "The Kenny Boardman Breakfast Show," and later on WFAU with a news commentary program.
Mr. Boardman was also involved in entertainment and worked as a master of ceremonies.
He was a member of the Masons and the Odd Fellows.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Carroll, Esten and Charlie; and his second wife, Jane (Watts) Boardman.
Mr. Boardman was the husband of Alma Boardman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Sterling Boardman and his wife, Jeanie, of Portsmouth, N.H.; his son, Dana Boardman and his companion, Clara, of Waldoboro, Maine; six grandchildren, Vernon Boardman of Portsmouth, Diana Erbach of Rochester, N.H., Kent, Joseph, Diamond and Carlissa Boardman of Waldoboro; and several nieces and nephews.
