Hazel L. Ham
HAMPTON - Hazel L. Ham, 88, of 22 Tuck Road, formerly a longtime resident of Rye, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at the Seacoast Health Center.
Born March 25, 1911, in Sebago, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Frank C. and Elsie M. (Johnson) Sawyer.
She was the wife of the late Theodore R. Ham.
Survivors include three sons, Gerald L. Wormhood of Portsmouth, Hartley G. Wormhood of Rye, and Theodore W. Ham of Hampton Falls; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Sylvia M. April
HAMPTON - Sylvia M. April, 77, of Wild Rose Lane, died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999, at her home.
Born Nov. 21, 1921, in Gloucester, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Claude and Mildred (Oaks) Gray. She was a graduate of Essex, Mass., High School.
She trained as a nurse at Addison-Gilbert Hospital School of Nursing in Gloucester, and graduated at the top of her class in 1942 as a registered nurse.
During World War II, she served as a nurse in the European Theatre as an Army lieutenant. In 1946 she was highly decorated as a captain.
In the late 1950s she divorced and moved to Hampton with her daughters.
During her professional career she worked at several area hospitals including Children's Hospital in Boston, Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, Mass., and Exeter Hospital. She worked as a private-duty nurse as well, and retired in 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Claudia April-Wing and Sharon April, both of Hampton; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Claude Gray of Wyoming; a sister, Elizabeth Foss of Rowley, Mass; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Madeline Rinderer.
Robert L. Dandeneau Jr.
FARMINGTON, N.H. - Robert L. Dandeneau Jr., 29, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, as a result of an auto accident in Berwick, Maine.
Born Nov. 11, 1969, he was the son of Robert L. Dandeneau of St. Marys, Ga., and Nancy (Day) Shaw, of East Rochester, N.H. He had lived in Farmington for the past eight months after moving from East Rochester.
He worked as a call firefighter in Rochester for the past 11 years on Engine 1 Co. For the past five months, he had worked as a call firefighter in Farmington on Engine 4 Co. He also worked for the Tri-city Fire Protection Co.
He was a member of the N.H. Firefighters Association, N.H. Fire Wardens Association, and the Rochester Fire Relief Association. He was active in the Southern Maine Fire Notification Association.
He enjoyed computers, football, auto racing, and collecting firefighting memorabilia.
In addition to his parents, survivors include two sons, Robert L. Dandeneau III and Bryan A. Dandeneau, both of Rochester; a sister, Diane Dandeneau of Rochester; a brother, Heath Dandeneau of Camp Pendleton, Calif.; paternal grandfather, Edmond P. Dandeneau of Dover; maternal grandmother, Marion Kuse of Amesbury, Mass.; his girlfriend, Kathleen Lashua of Springvale, Maine; two nieces and one nephew.
Donat A. Allaire
DOVER - Donat A. Allaire, 83, of 790 Central Ave., died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at his home following a brief battle with cancer.
Born Sept. 28, 1915, in Sanford, Maine, he was the son of Amedee and Annie (Buchanan) Allaire. He lived in Rochester for many years before moving to Dover in 1972.
During World War II, he served in the Army. He retired from civilian service at Pease Air Force Base in 1983.
He owned and operated Don & Vicki's Beauty Salon, working alongside his wife in Sanford, Maine, Rochester and Dover.
He was a former employee of the Federal Savings Bank of Dover and the Wal-Mart store in Somersworth.
A superb sportsman, he was an avid tennis player and very active in community programs. He was a member of the Dover Moose and Sanford Elks clubs, and had many friends throughout the area.
He was the husband of the late Victorine (Tetreau) Allaire, who died on June 11, 1982.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Flaherty of Somersworth and Anne Marie Allaire of Waterford, Conn.; a son, Maj. Thomas Allaire, serving in the Army in Germany; four brothers, Andrew Allaire of Somersworth, Robert Allaire and Raymond Allaire of Sanford, and Lawrence Allaire of Montgomery, Ala.; five sisters, Lillian Perron and Claire Gorman, both of Farmington, N.H., Diane Bourque, Stella Dion and Helen Vigue, all from Sanford, Maine; grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and close friend Rita Brown of Somersworth.
He was predeceased by a son, Gregory D. Allaire, who died Aug. 12, 1996.
Richard E. Rezendes
EXETER - The funeral for Richard E. Rezendes, 49, of 16 Oaklands Road, was held Sunday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home. Services were held at the United Methodist Church, Hampton. The Rev. Carroll Moore, pastor, and the Rev. William Gardei officiated.
Anne Young was organist. Violinists were Elise and Mallory Blake. Words of remembrance were offered by various members of the family, including Diana Brennan, Wayne Elliot, David Elliot and Richard Elliot.
Private interment of the urn will be in the High Street Cemetery at a later date.
James Hodgkins Riley
RILEY - James Hodgkins "Bim" Riley, 58, of Orchard Hill Rd., Greenland, N.H., formerly of Wells and Kennebunkport, Maine, died Aug. 22, 1999 in Petersburg, Va. He was the grandson of the late Judge and Mrs. Frank L. Riley and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel G. Hodgkins. Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the American Diabetic Association, Maine Affiliate Inc., P.O. Box 346, Augusta, ME 04330-2208 in Bim's memory.
Martha J. Provencal
HAMPTON - Martha J. Provencal, 73, of 5 Curtis St., died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at her home.
Born Feb. 26, 1926, in Lawrence, Mass., she was the daughter of the late John P. and Martha (Campbell) Dowd. She graduated from Lawrence High School.
She worked as a storekeeper for Data General Corp. She lived in Hampton for the past 30 years, coming from Franklin, N.H., and Lawrence.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church.
She was the wife of Henry W. Provencal for 50 years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Gary H. Provencal of Epping and Scott Provencal of North Hampton; four daughters, Jane Vegter of Midlothian, Ill., Helen Jones of Lee, Debra Busta of Lee, and Joann Provencal of Raymond; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Dowd of Danville and Francis Dowd of Plainville, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Edward R. Morse
YORK - Edward R. Morse, 73, of 132 Beech Ridge Road, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at Harbor Home after a long period of illness.
Born Dec. 8, 1925, in Eliot, he was the son of Roland S. Sr. and Mabel (Hanscom) Morse. He attended Eliot schools.
During World War II, he served in the Army, receiving three Purple Hearts and one Bronze Star.
He worked at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 37 years, beginning as a draftsman and working many years in the weights and measures department. After retiring, he was employed by Echard Engineering at the shipyard.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, and American Legion Post No. 188 of Eliot.
He was the husband of Ruth (Tobey) Morse of York.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Carl E. Morse of York; three daughters, Cathy J. Ash of East Liverpool, Ohio, Sandra L. Estes and Kimberly S. Morse, both of York; three brothers, Roy Morse of York, Donald Morse of Eliot and Kenneth Morse of South Berwick; a sister, Viola Leslie of York; six grandsons; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Roland S. "Huck" Morse Jr., Herbert Morse and Henry Morse.
Sylvia M. Dougherty
ELIOT - Sylvia M. Dougherty, 69, of 11 Kings Highway North, died Tuesday, August 24, 1999, at her home.
Born Sept. 28, 1930, she was the daughter of Lester and Julia (Howe) Cobb. She was a graduate of R.W. Traip Academy in Kittery.
She greatly enjoyed working around the outside of her home.
She was the wife of Bernard Dougherty for 49 years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, John P. Dougherty and his wife, Paula, of South Berwick; two brothers, Archie Cobb and his wife, Graceanna, of Hampton, N.H., and Earle Cobb and his wife, Priscilla, of Kittery; four sisters, Arlene Chick of Eliot, Mary Stewart and her husband, George, of Kissimmee, Fla., Patricia Tindall and her husband, Frank, of Winter Haven, Fla., and Judy Bigelow and her husband, Westly, of Springfield, Mass.; three grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a sister, Betty Chick.
Edward J. Andreske
SEABROOK - Edward J. Andreske, 85, of Seabrook Beach, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at Brigham Manor Nursing Home in Newburyport, Mass.
He was formerly of Lawrence, Mass., retiring from the New England Telephone Co. and moving to Seabrook.
He was the husband of the late Margaret (Carey) Andreske.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret McGrath and her husband, Harris, of Amesbury, Mass.; and two granddaughters.

HAMPTON - The funeral for Hazel L. Ham, 88, of 22 Tuck Road, was held Thursday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home. Services were held in Newington Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Kenneth G. Lawrence officiated.
John R. Mitchell
HAMPTON - The funeral for John R. Mitchell, 35, of 28 Abbott St., Nashua, was held Wednesday in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home. The Rev. Carroll Moore, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Hampton, officiated. Burial followed in Wildwood Cemetery, Seabrook, with committal prayers by the Rev. Moore.
Pallbearers were Timothy Carr, James Michaud, George Rothwell, Doug Eaton, Timothy Brooks and Michael Haught.
Leslie T. Cooper
EXETER - Leslie T. Cooper, 82, died Wednesday Aug. 25, 1999, following a long period of illness.
Born Oct. 27, 1916, in Buffalo, N.Y., he was the son of Wilburn Stayman and Maude Alice (Tibbs) Cooper.
In 1985 he moved to Exeter from Hudson, Mass., where he had lived for 30 years.
He was a carpenter and learned his trade while enrolled in the NYA at Quoddy Eastport, Maine. He also worked as a plastics blender for KORO Corp. of Hudson.
While living in Hudson, he was a member of the Senior Center, which he maintained contact with for many years.
He was the husband of the late Gertrude M. (Loiselle) Cooper, who died in 1993, for 50 years.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Pamela Cooper of Seabrook, N.H.; four grandsons, Guy and Jon Cooper, both of Exeter, Herbert Brown IV of Seabrook, and Kevin Cummmings of Pompano Beach, Fla.; two granddaughters, Trudi Turcotte of Seabrook, and Linda Sauta of Onset, Mass.; 10 great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Mrs. Beatrice Charbonneau of Exeter and Manchester, Mrs. Lorraine Czyaka, Mrs. Doris Roy, Ms. Ruth Loiselle and Mrs. Joan Boissoneault of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara B. Maroon
STRATHAM - Barbara B. Maroon, 68, of 32 Brookside Drive and Spring Hill, Fla., died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, at the Exeter Hospital.
Born March 14, 1931, in South Portland, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Phillips C. and Doris (Annis) Brooks.
In 1949 she graduated from Lewiston (Maine) High School.
In her earlier years she worked as a model for clothing manufacturers and also as a licensed real estate agent in the state of New York. She and her husband co-founded Business Unlimited, a wholesale retail business. She was presently vice president of Flags Unlimited in Hampton.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Hampton, a charter member of the Abenaqui Country Club in Rye Beach, and a member of Grand Pines Country Club in Spring Hill, where she resided in the winter.
In 1996 she moved to Stratham after living in Hampton for 17 years.
She was the wife of Robert C. Maroon for 50 years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one son, Robert C. Maroon Jr. and his wife, Sally, of Whitefield, N.H., and Boothbay Harbor, Maine; one daughter, Marsha S. Hovis and her husband, Kenneth, of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; one grandson, Casey P. Maroon; two brothers, Dr. Phillips Brooks of Elkins, W. Va., and Stanwood Brooks of Petaluma, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
