Karen F. Ashburn
LEBANON, Maine - Karen F. (Batchelder) Ashburn, 51, of 878 Bigelow Road, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at her home.
Born Aug. 15, 1948, in Portsmouth, N.H., she was the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy Irene (Perkins) Batchelder.
She attended the former Haven School in Portsmouth, graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1966, and attended Hesser College in Stratham, N.H.
She was a member of the Emerson Hovey Post No. 168 Women's Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Frank E. Booma Unit No. 6, American Legion in Portsmouth.
Survivors include a daughter, Christine Ashburn of Lebanon; a son, William Ashburn of Dover, N.H.; four grandchildren, Shalee Ashburn, Sean Ashburn, Kayla Ashburn and Jacob Ashburn; a sister, Linda Chigas of Seabrook, N.H.; and eight nieces and nephews.
Rena F. Dusseault
YORK HARBOR - Funeral services for Rena F. (Emery) Dusseault, 92, of 2 Norwood Farms Road, formerly of 815 Middle St., Portsmouth, were held Tuesday at the Buckminster Chapel, Portsmouth, with graveside services held at Calvary Cemetery, Portsmouth. Rev. David Kerr officiated.
She was the wife of the late Neil H. Dusseault.
Survivors include a son, Richard Dusseault of Wells; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Sherman Emery of Eliot; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Jeannette Stokes.
Donald J. Anderson
KITTERY - Donald James Anderson, 72, of 1 Idlewood Lane, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at York Hospital.
Born on July 7, 1927, in Portland, he was the son of James H. and Alice (Jordan) Anderson. He attended Portland schools and graduated from Portland High School. In 1951, he received a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Maine in Orono.
He lived in York from 1953 to 1986, when he moved to Kittery. He worked as a salesman for Moulton Supply in Portsmouth until his retirement in 1986.
He was a member of St. Aspinquid Lodge 198 A F & A M of York. He was an avid reader and crossword-puzzle enthusiast.
He was the husband of Carolyn Blaisdell Anderson for 10 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, James Anderson and his wife, Stephanie, of Vernon, Conn.; a daughter, Martha Brulotte and her husband, Stephen, of Portsmouth; and two grandchildren, Katie and Tyler Anderson of Vernon.
He was predeceased by a brother, Richard J. Anderson of Portland, in 1977.

Eleanor R. Powers
COCOA BEACH, Fla. - Eleanor R. Powers, 83, died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at National Health Care Center on Merritt Island, Fla.
She was born in Boston. She moved to Cocoa Beach in 1976 from Lynn, Mass.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas W. Powers and his wife, Lenore, of North Hampton, and John C. Powers and his wife, Sandra, of Torrance, Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held on Aug. 3, 1999, at Church of Our Savior in Cocoa Beach.
Louise W. Marston
EXETER - Louise W. Marston, 81, a resident of Exeter Healthcare and former longtime resident of Exeter Road, North Hampton, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999.
Born June 27, 1918, in Newburyport, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen (Betts) Webb. She was raised in North Hampton and was a graduate of Portsmouth High School.
She worked at area estates as a cook and housekeeper. Later, she worked for the school lunch program in North Hampton, and as an assistant at the animal hospital for the late Eric Simmons, D.V.M.
She was a former member of the North Hampton Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, hooking rugs, and being with animals.
She was the wife of Curtis D. Marston for 59 years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Alan C. Marston and his wife, Elizabeth, of Newmarket, and Paul S. Marston and his wife, Mary Lou, of North Hampton; four grandchildren,; seven great-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.
Stuart R. Hall Jr.
PORTSMOUTH - Stuart R. Hall Jr., 54, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at his home.
Born Dec. 25, 1944, in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of Stuart R. and Mary (Nicholas) Hall of Simsbury, Conn.
He received his bachelor's degree from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, and his doctorate from the University of New Hampshire. He also studied classical guitar at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, Conn., and was an accomplished musician.
He worked as a computer engineering analyst at Seabrook Station in Seabrook.
He was the husband of Pamela (Sheely) Hall for 32 years.
In addition to his wife and parents, survivors include a sister, Marcia Hall Muzytschenko and her husband, George, and their two children, Kim and Kris, all of Simsbury; three brothers-in-law, Tim, Tom, and Grant Sheely; three nieces and two nephews.
Virginia B. O'Neil
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - Virginia (Brisson) O'Neil, 68, of 575 Osgood St., formerly of Nashua, Portsmouth and Hampton, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999, at The Meadows at Edgewood in North Andover following a long period of illness.
Born May 31, 1931, in Nashua, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Helen (McPartlan) Brisson. Educated in local schools, she was a 1949 graduate of Nashua High School and furthered her education at Rivier College in Nashua.
A longtime Nashua resident, she resided with her family for many years before moving to Portsmouth and then Hampton.
She was the wife of the late Paul L. O'Neil, a Nashua native and education administrator, who died May 21, 1981. They were married in Nashua in December of 1952.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, attorney Richard D. O'Neil and his wife, Amy, of San Antonio; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie O'Neil Wolstromer and her husband, Matthew, of North Andover; five grandchildren, Megan, Kevin and Kelly O'Neil, and Catherine and Paul Wolstromer; and a sister-in-law, Virginia O. (Walker) Brisson of Nashua.
She was predeceased by her brother, Roland F. Brisson of Nashua, who died in June 1998.
Alice Buck
ROCHESTER - Alice Buck, 84, formerly of No. 5 Willowbrook Apartments, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at Seacoast Health Center in Hampton.
Born Dec. 29, 1914, in Somersworth, she was the daughter of the late Constantinos and Vasiliki (Despoutopoulos) Seccus. She resided in this area for most of her life.
She had worked at the Hubbard Shoe Factory in Rochester. From 1987 to 1983, she worked at St. Charles Children's Home, and before that helped in the kitchen at Spaulding High School.
She was a member of the Church of the Redeemer of Rochester.
She was the wife of the late Kenneth C. Buck, who died in 1983.
Survivors include two sons, Keith C. Buck of Rochester, and Kevin C. Buck of Grandbury, Texas; a daughter, Brenda Boulanger of Rochester; four grandchildren, Amanda Spear of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Clint Boulanger of Rochester, and Megan and Levi Buck of Grandbury; a great-granddaughter, Allison Spear of Florida; and two nieces and two nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Christos Seccus; and two sisters, Sally Hosser and Jenny Clark.
Harold S. Hemstreet
NORTH HAMPTON - Harold S. Hemstreet, 79, of Little Boars Head, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Born Sept. 25, 1919, in Ilion, N.Y., he was the son of the late Adelbert S. and Emma L. (Schultz) Hemstreet. He was a graduate of Ilion High School and of the Engineering School of the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. He had lived in the Seacoast since 1991, coming from Wilton, Conn.
During World War II, he was a lieutenant in the Navy, assigned to the radiation lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He was vice president of the Perkin-Elmer Corp. of Norwalk, Conn., manufacturers of electro-optical instruments, retiring in 1985 after 31 years with the company. He was the recipient of the annual "Semmy Award" from the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Institute Inc.; the Apollo Achievement Award from NASA; and the Alan Gordon Memorial Award by the Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers.
He also worked for 10 years for Link Aviation of Binghamton, N.Y., where he was involved in the design of helicopter flight simulators.
He was a member of the Abenaqui Country Club in Rye Beach.
He was the husband of Jean (McMillan) Hemstreet for 55 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Nancy H. Eaton of Glastonbury, Conn., and Katherine Hemstreet of Boston; two granddaughters, Heather Jean Eaton of Vernon, Conn., and Kristin Carroll Eaton of Glastonbury; a sister, Marion Manion of Brewster, Mass.; two nieces and a nephew.
Elisabeth N. Bryant
PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Miss Elisabeth N. Bryant, 95, of 117 North Road, Brentwood, and formerly of 7 Tanner St., Portsmouth, were held at Buckminster Chapel, Portsmouth, on Thursday.
The Rev. Lillian Buckley, interim pastor of the Middle Street Baptist Church in Portsmouth, officiated.
Members of the Middle Street Baptist Church and representatives from the Rivermouth Chapter No. 54 attended.
Burial was in Proprietors Cemetery, Portsmouth, with committal services by the Rev. Buckley.
Janora O. Robinson
PORTSMOUTH - Mrs. Janora (Owens) Robinson, 66, of 38 Dennett St., died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at her home.
Born June 1, 1933, in Fredericksburg, Va., she was the daughter of James and Virginia (Ennis) Owens.
She had worked at the Susse Chalet in Portsmouth.
She was a member of the Daughter of ISIS, Ferzzan Chapter No. 7 in Minneapolis; the Frank E. Booma Unit No. 6, American Legion; and a lifetime member of the Emerson Hovey Post No. 168 Women's Auxiliary, VFW, of Portsmouth.
She was the wife of Raymond K. Robinson.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Warren Robinson of Manchester, N.H., and Keith Robinson of Salt Lake City; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Sarah Robinson, both of Salt Lake City; three sisters, Mary Jackson, Kate Daniels, and Margaret Carter, all of Fredericksburg, Va.; one brother, James Owens of Fredericksburg; one daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Yeager Robinson of Salt Lake City; Samuel Jackson and Donald Carter, both of Fredericksburg, and Horace Robinson of St. Pedro, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Narcissus Ford of Port Chester, N.Y., and Alberta Robinson of Spotsylvania, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
