Nancy L. Spaulding

SOUTH BERWICK - Nancy L. (Engle) Spaulding, 50, of 64 Old South Road, died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at Dover Rehab and Living Center.

Born March 3, 1949, in Suffern, N.Y., she was the daughter of H. Philip and Anita (Serven) Engle. She was a graduate of Ramsey High School in New Jersey and Central Connecticut State Teachers College in 1971. She lived for two years in Hawaii and four years in Spain before settling in South Berwick in 1977.

She loved teaching and the children she taught in the first- and second-grade at Central School in South Berwick.

She was a member of the First Parish Federated Church of South Berwick. She was co-chairman of South Berwick Strawberry Festival Committee for more than 15 years.

She enjoyed downhill and cross country skiing, kayaking, walking, reading and the beach.

She was the wife of Gary R. Spaulding of South Berwick. The couple married on Jan. 6, 1973.

In addition to her husband, survivors include her mother of Conway; one son, Jeffery P. Spaulding of South Berwick; one daughter Jasanna D. Spaulding of South Berwick; one sister, Pamela Wheeler of Cleveland, Tenn.

She was predeceased by her father H. Philip Engle.

Allison M. Leverone

HAMPTON BEACH - The funeral for Allison M. Leverone, 13, of 461 Ocean Blvd., was held Tuesday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian burial was concelebrated at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. The Rev. Fr. John F. Mullor, pastor of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Saugus, Mass. was the principal celebrant, concelebrants were the Rev. Fr. George E. Ham, the Rev. Fr. Daniel J. Sinibaldi and the Rev. Fr. Michael J. Griffin. Acolytes were David Schreier, Paul Sullivan and Robert Grissemeer.

Christine Carter was cantor, Patricia Mackensen was soloist and Marion Arnoldy was the organist. Musical selections were offered by the Children's Choir.

The pall was placed on the casket by Allison's parents, Stephen and Joan Leverone, and her cross and choir booklet were placed on the casket by her sister, Emily.

The readings were by Elaine Stillman and Diane Winchell. The gifts were presented to the altar by Allison's brothers, Stephen and Jonathan and sister, Emily with aunt Susan Fuller. Words of remembrance were by Denise Gough.

Burial was in High Street Cemetery with committal prayers by the Rev. Frs. Mullor, Ham and Sinabaldi.

Pallbearers were Andy Leverone, Mark Winchell, Frank Leverone, Mark Fitzgerald, John Fitzgerald and Mark Fuller.

George Brown

PORTSMOUTH - George Brown, 83, of 21 Hampshire Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at his home.

Born in Russia on May 28, 1916, he was the son of the late Eli and Minnie Brown. He served in the United States Army in World War II. He was formerly employed by Portsmouth Motor Mart as a Cadillac sales manager, retiring in 1978.

He was a member of Temple Israel in Portsmouth; member of St. John's Lodge No. 1 F & AM in Portsmouth; Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Portsmouth and Dover; New Hampshire Consistory 32 Degree of Nashua and the Bektash Temple of Concord.

He was the husband of the late Edith (Oshry) Brown.

Survivors include two sons, Mark J. Brown and Evan J. Brown, both of Portsmouth; a brother, Jacob Brown of South Berwick, Maine and several nieces and nephews.

Adolph Pasqualini

PASQUALINI - Adolph J. "Babe" Pasqualini, 83, of Salem, Mass., and formerly of Lynn, Mass., died Aug. 14, 1999. Husband of Esota "Liz" (Gobbi) Pasqualini; father of Linda Carmichael of Saugus, Mass.; grandfather of Matthew Carmichael of Cambridge, Mass., and Brian Carmichael of Saugus; uncle to several nieces and nephews; and brother of the late Edward Pasqualini. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Solimine, Landergan & Rhodes Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. tomorrow (Monday).

Walter T. Kermode

NORTH HAMPTON - Walter T. Kermode, 70, of 141 South Road, died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Manchester.

Born Nov. 23, 1928, in Natick, Mass., he was the son of the late Frederick A. and Ida A. W. (Seeger) Kermode. He was raised in Natick.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and also served in Japan with the Army.

He worked as a blaster in the drilling and blasting industry for nearly 40 years. Before retiring in 1990 because of a disability, he was employed by JaMar Drilling & Blasting of North Hampton.

He had resided in North Hampton for 32 years coming from Deering, N.H.

He was the husband of Lorraine B. (Arsenault) Kermode.

In addition to his wife, family members include a daughter, Faith I. Kermode of Warner, N.H.; three stepsons, Michael Vaillancourt of Windham, Conn., Phillip Vaillancourt of Florida, and Eugene Vaillancourt of Wells; a brother, George Kermode of Natick; a sister, Gwendolyn Kermode of Natick; two grandchildren; and cousins.

Rena F. Dusseault

YORK HARBOR - Rena F. (Emery) Dusseault, 92, of 2 Norwood Farms Road, formerly of 815 Middle St., Portsmouth, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at the Harbor Home in York Harbor.

Born Dec. 14, 1906, in Eliot, Maine, she was the daughter of the late John and Manie (Goodwin) Emery.

She was the wife of the late Neil H. Dusseault.

Survivors include a son, Richard Dusseault of Wells; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Sherman Emery of Eliot; and several nieces and nephews.

Elisabeth N. Bryant

BRENTWOOD - Elisabeth N. Bryant, 95, of 117 North Road, formerly of 7 Tanner St., Portsmouth, died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home.

Born Feb. 9, 1904, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Edward N. and Nettie E. (Sherwood) Bryant. She was a 1922 graduate of Portsmouth High School and attended Plymouth Business College.

She was formerly employed at the First National Bank in Portsmouth.

She was a member of the Middle Street Baptist Church in Portsmouth; the Daughters of the American Revolution; and the Rivermouth Chapter No. 54, Order of the Eastern Star of Portsmouth.

Survivors include seven cousins, Jeane S. Trefethen of Portsmouth, Philip A. Trefethen of Dover, Richard Trefethen of Billerica, Mass., Phyllis T. Grunet of Rye, Louise Sherwood of Billerica, Norman Sherwood of Rye, and Richard H. Porter of Rye.

She was predeceased by a cousin, Dorothy S. Drolet.

Mary Jo Clement

DOVER - Mary Jo (Murray) Clement, 83, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at a health care facility in Dover following a period of declining health.

Born March 16, 1916, in Salford, Lancashire, England, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Hughes) Murray. She was educated in England.

A resident of Dover since June 1998, she had lived in Durham since 1946.

From 1932 to 1935 she worked as a secretary for the British Overseas League in London. Until her marriage to William D. Clement on April 4, 1945, she worked in various secretarial positions in England, including one at a large construction company in London producing wartime items, and one at the Ministry of Pensions, also in London. After she married her husband and came to the Unites States, she spent her time taking care of her family, and knitting and sewing for the children.

She enjoyed traveling, especially to England, Canada and Germany. An avid swimmer, she swam three times a week for many years. She belonged to a military wives group in the Portsmouth area.

In addition to her husband, survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Catherine and Wayne Gonnerman of Newton, Mass., Elaine Clement of Lebanon, N.H., and Margot and Robert D. Mead of Seattle; three grandchildren, Margaret Anne Mead, Robert J. Mead and William D. Mead, all of Seattle; two sisters, Catherine Evans of Hamilton, Ontario, and Margaret Lillian Everson of Greater Manchester, England; and several nieces and nephews in England and Canada.

Annette L. Jordan

Annette L. Jordan, 98, formerly of Granite Street, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at Exeter Healthcare, where she had resided for the past several years.

Born July 17, 1901, in Canada, she was the daughter of Aime and Cilfred (Letendre) Labelle. She moved to Newmarket at the age of 5.

For 23 years, she and her late husband owned and operated Jordan's Lunch on Main Street in Newmarket.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Hector Benoit No. 1409.

She was also a member of the Robert G. Durgin American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 67 in Newmarket, and was one of the original members of the Newmarket Senior Citizens.

She was the wife of the late John L. Jordan, who died in 1967.

Survivors include two sons, John C. Jordan of Vero Beach, Fla., and Peter C. Jordan of Pelham, N.H.; four daughters, Mrs. Thelma Sawyer of York Harbor, Mrs. Natalie True of Walnut Creek, Calif., Mrs. Jean Jennings of Newmarket, and Mrs. Jeffrey (Marsha) Newick of Yarmouth, Maine; 18 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Gerard W. Jennings, who died in 1983.

Louis F. Sampson

SEABROOK - Louis F. Sampson, 78, of Walton Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Exeter Hospital.

Born Feb. 16, 1921, in Williamsport, Pa., he was one of six children of the late Albert and Catherine Rose (Kaelber) Sampson.

He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, serving 12 years in the Marine Corps as a tech sergeant. During World War II, he served in the First Marine Division in the South Pacific.

For more than 20 years, he worked as a truck driver at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

He was a member of the East Parish United Methodist Church of Salisbury, Mass.; a life member of the Squampscott Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans Post No. 40 of Exeter, Hampton's American Legion Post No. 35; former member and past commander of the Raymond E. Walton American Legion Post No. 70 of Seabrook; and associate life member of the First Marine Division Association.

He was also a member of the St. James Lodge No. 102 F & A.M. of Hampton; life member of Veterans of Free Masons of NH; charter member and past president of the East Gate Club; member of Tide Mill Chapter No. 67 Order of Eastern Star in Hampton; member and past president of Seabrook Happy Senior Citizens; and life member of the Seabrook Fireman's Association.

He was the husband of 48 years to the late Martha (Fowler) Sampson, who died in 1994; and the late Mary Helen (Morton) Sampson, who died this year.

Family members include four children, Frank L. Sampson and Georgiana Sampson, both of Seabrook, both of Seabrook, Candice Drew of Epping, and Catherine Latour of South Berwick; three stepchildren, Robert Littlefield of Seabrook, Russell Littlefield of Atkinson, N.H., and Maryann Mason of Amesbury, Mass.; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Holliday of Williamsport, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Cecelia W. Morse

ELIOT - Mrs. Cecelia "Sis" W. Morse, 74, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at York Hospital.

Born March 23, 1925, in Kittery, she was the daughter of Maurice and Marion (Harrigan) Langley. She graduated from Eliot High School, Class of 1943, and Western Union Business School.

In 1985, she retired as a postal clerk from the Eliot Post Office after 30 years of service.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Eliot; Golden Sheaf member and past master of John F. Hill Grange No. 393; York Pomona No. 14; life member Piscataqua Chapter No. 90 OES; Eliot Alumni Association; and the Eliot Historical Society.

She served on the Eliot and SAD 35 school board between 1959 and 1975; the Eliot Budget Committee; Eliot Charter Commission 1985; and York Assembly No. 23 IORG Advisory Board. She was a co-group leader for the Eliot Group, organizing bus tours since 1975.

She was the wife of the late Roland S. Morse Jr., who died in June 1997.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret A. Morse of Eliot and Mrs. James E. (Diane A.) Miller of Mechanicsville, Md.; two grandchildren, Katherine and David Miller of Mechanicsville, Md.; and a brother, Ralph O. Langley of Eliot; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Marshall E. Parker

KITTERY - Marshall E. Parker, 83, of 93 Old Dennett Road, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Sentry Hill in York.

Born Oct. 10, 1916, in Groveland, Mass., he was the son of the late Harold W. and Alice M. (Pendleton) Parker.

After graduating from Groveland High School in 1934, he entered the apprentice program at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard; he retired from the Planning and Estimating Department in 1971.

He was a member of North Congregational Church in Portsmouth.

He was the husband of the late Annie W. (Haynes) Parker.

Survivors include two daughters, June Parker of Kittery, and Karlene Arnold and her husband, David, of Kittery; two grandchildren, D. Scott Arnold and Elizabeth J. Arnold, both of Kittery; a brother, William Parker of Jackson, Calif.; an aunt, Esther Hartford of Rye; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Myron Parker and Allen Parker, and a sister, Mildred Mormando.
