BROWNFIELD ó Louise E. Williams, 91, of Main Street in Brownfield, died Thursday March 1, 2001, at the Fryeburg Residential Care Center.
She was born in Porter, Maine, and grew up in Parsonsfield the daughter of Herbert and Ethel Rice Smith. She lived in Brownfield most of her life and ran a farm with her late husband Robert E. Williams Sr. She also worked art time for the corn shop, woolen mill and Green Granite Inn. She was a life member of the Oxford Country Agricultural Society.
She was predeceased by a son Robert and is survived by two sons, Russell G. Williams of Cornish and Larry Smith of Mechanic Falls; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild..
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Family members can contact Larry for service information.

FRYEBURG ó Alfred Harvey Barton, 66, died at his farm in West Fryeburg on Feb. 28, 2001.
He was born Feb. 10, 1935, and raised in Denmark, the son of Robert and Crystal Dunn Barton, and graduated from Fryeburg Academy class of 1953. He was a Korean War veteran. He enjoyed operating his farm in West Fryeburg for 43 years, and was known for miles around for his abundant crop of fall vegetables. He is best known for his variety of dried beans grown for Kennebec Bean Co. He had served on the MSAD 72 board of directors. He also enjoyed hunting, skiing and family get togethers at his camp on Kezar Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Priscilla Buzzell Barton of West Fryeburg; three daughters Valerie Royer of Denmark, Victoria Berry and husband Adam of West Fryeburg, and Jodie Hesslein and husband Gregg of Brownfield; three brothers, a twin Arthur of Denmark, Robert of Naples, and Charles of Wilson Mills; two sisters, Ruth Keller and Alice Graffam, both of Bridgton; and two grandchildren, Shelby Hesslein and Anna Berry. He was predeceased by a sister, Crystal Martin.
Graveside services will be held in the spring at the family burial ground located on his farm in West Fryeburg.
Donations in memory of Alfred may be made to the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, Main Street, Lewiston, Maine 04243, or to the North Fryeburg Fire Department.

Gladys P. Noyes, 90, of North Conway, died Feb. 26, 2001, at the SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center of North Conway following a long illness.
Born in Limestone, Maine, the daughter of George and Minnie (Thompson) Phair, she had been a resident of Conway since 1945.
She was an accomplished professional pianist. She began her career playing for the silent films. She played at various local establishments in the valley. Gladys volunteered to entertain the residents of the SunBridge Nursing Home long before becoming a resident herself. She loved playing for residents, friends and family her entire life.
The family includes two daughters, Susanne M. Lowd, of Conway, and Sally J. Howe, of Hinsdale, Mass.; a son, Alfred G. Noyes, of Madison; 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her son, Jeffrey L. Noyes, predeceased her in 1976.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway, with the Rev. Katherine Russo, pastor of Conway United Methodist Church, officiating. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Joanne Swasey Stevens of Apollo Beach, Fla., formerly of Conway, passed away at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla., on Feb. 24, 2001.
Joanne was the daughter of William and Grace Davidson Swasey of Intervale. She was born in New London on Oct. 5, 1931, and lived in Conway until her retirement in 1983.
She was a graduate of Kennett High School, class of 1949, and graduated from Chamberlain School of Retailing in 1952.
She is survived by Richard P. Stevens, her husband of 48 years; a brother John T. Spear of Manchester; three daughters, Kristina Byorick of Conway, Glenwyn Dawley of Lisbon, N.Y., Janette Metroz of Parlin, Colo.; and one granddaughter, Kelly Byorick of Conway.
Joanne's hobbies included the pursuit of culinary arts and traveling. Her travels included visits to 49 states and many parts of Central and South America.
Memorial Services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hollis B. Robbins Memorial Scholarship Fund at Keene State College, 229 Main Street, Keene NH 03435.
Capt. Richard Clayton Prescott, 58, of Lawrenceburg, Ind., formerly of Bartlett and Exeter, died Feb. 13, 2001, at his home.
Dick was born in Salem, Mass., the son of Dorothy and Clayton Prescott. He lived in Marblehead, Mass., for 30 years where he graduated from Marblehead High School in 1960. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served as a submariner. He was a pilot for 24 years at Eastern Airlines. For the past 10 years he worked for DHL Airways where he was a chief pilot.
As a good friend and family man, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by wife Marian (Muffy); sons Greg and Mark, and their wives Elisabeth and Leslie; his grandchildren Taylor and Tucker; brother Robert Prescott; as well as nieces and a nephew.
A memorial service will be held on March 17 at 4 p.m. at United Church of Christ Congregational in Exeter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to David's House in Lebanon. David's House is a home away from home for families with children receiving treatment through Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
Elaine G. Kelley, 75, of Jackson, died Feb. 20, 2001, at the Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, following a long illness.
Born in Glen, the daughter of Alexander and Martha (Garland) MacDonald, she lived in Jackson for 38 years prior to moving back to Glen in 1986.
Mrs. Kelley had been a cook at the Dana Place in Jackson for 17 years and at Whitney's in Jackson for three or four years, and she worked at several other hotels and ski clubs in the valley. She was also a part-time school bus driver for the town of Jackson for several years.
She had been a former member of the Glen Grange for 50 years and a member of the Pythian Sisters in Gorham for several years.
The family includes her husband of 52 years, Harold W. "Cobbie" Kelley of Jackson; a son, Alex W. Kelley and wife Aloha of Bartlett; two step-grandchildren, Edward R. Garland Jr. of Syracuse, N.Y., and Craig A. Garland of Somerville, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, G. Norman MacDonald in 1989 and Arnold MacDonald in 1914, and two sisters, Isabelle Abbott in 1997 and Lillian MacDonald in 1929.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway with the Rev. David A. Lloyd, officiating. Burial will be in the Glen Cemetery at a later date. CONWAY ó Gabriel Duncan McManus, infant son of Suzanne and Stephen McManus of Conway, died of complications from muscular dystrophy on Feb. 14, 2001, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
In addition to his parents, Gabriel is survived by his brother Christian, 3, of Conway; brother Corey, 14, and sister Nikkiah, 18, both of Brewer, Maine. Also surviving are paternal grandmother Corinna McManus of Conway; maternal grandmother Evelyn Spratt of Spring Hill, Fla.; maternal great grandmother Polly Spratt of Bucksport, Maine, and Richmond, Va.; maternal great grandmother Waltraud Barker of Surry, Maine; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
His paternal grandfather Francis McManus and his maternal grandfather Charles Spratt predeceased Gabriel.
A memorial service for Gabriel was held on Monday, Feb. 19, at the Furber-White Funeral Home in North Conway. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Officiates for the service were Rev. Peter Mather and Ms. Jennifer LaVigne.

Virginia (Ginny) Lowd Morse, 71, of Conway died Feb. 21, 2001, following a brave battle with leukemia.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Virginia was a native of Conway for over 70 years. She was a kind friend to all who knew her. Virginia was a communicant of Our Lady of the Mountains parish and active in earlier years with The Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Arthur D. Morse of Conway; three daughters, Carol L. "Cammy" Carey and Terri Sykes, both of Conway, and Jennifer Gardineer of Mahopac, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Stephen Carey of Clifton Park, N.J. Stephanie Harrington of Center Conway, Tiffany and Matthew Sykes, both of Conway, Ashley and Molly Gardineer of Mahopac, N.Y.; three great-grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel and Seanna Harrington all of Center Conway; and her sister, Carolyn French of Yorba Linda, Calif.
A private family service will be held in the spring. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please offer your prayers for "Ginny" and her family.

LOVELL, Maine ó Marilyn P. Libby, 80, of Old Waterford Road in Lovell, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at the Fryeburg Health Care Center.
She was born in Lovell, the daughter of James and Violet Ost Plummer, and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Fryeburg Academy, class of 1938, and worked many years in the forest industries in Fryeburg. She was a member of the Lovell Historical Society and the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening and golf.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Albert P. Libby, of Lovell; one daughter, Roberta Libby, of Panama City, Fla.; one son, Robert Libby, of Colorado; two sisters, Marcia Oliver, of Fryeburg, and Thelma Boston, of Wells; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at No. 4 Cemetery in Lovell. Donations in her memory may be made to the Fryeburg Rescue, P.O. Box 177, Fryeburg, Maine 04037.

CONWAY ó Florence (Bunker) Mae Farrington, 97, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Memorial Hospital in North Conway.
She was born Aug. 28, 1903, in Brewer, Maine, daughter of the late Linwood and Suzie (Barbour) Bunker. She had lived in Center Conway for over 40 years and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Center Conway.
Pre-deceased by her husband, Ervin Farrington, in 1971, she leaves a son, Gerald Farrington, of Center Conway; two daughters, Jean Nichols, of Center Conway, and Ellen Farrington, of Center Conway; two brothers, Philip Bunker, of Ft. Myers, Fla.; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A gathering by the family will be held at a later date.
