Thomas F. King, 55, of Lynnway and Kearsarge Estates at North Conway died Saturday January 1, 2000, in Salem Hospital.
He was the husband of Catherine A. "Kitty" (McGuire) King, who is at employed at Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency in Boston. Born in Lynn son of the late Michael). and Barbara M. (Cooke) Kane, he was a graduate of St. Patrick's School and St. Mary's High School Class of 1961. He was an Army veteran of the Viet Nam War.
In addition to his wife he leaves a stepson James "Jay" Kane of Lynn and a stepdaughter Michelle Kane-Smith Sedona, Ariz., two brothers, Joseph M. King of Peabody, Mass.; and Michael P. King of Melrose, Mass.; a sister Marie B. O'Keefe of Nahant, Mass. and a grandchild Neil B. Smith of Sedona. He was brother of the late John G. King and Patricia A "Nancy" Collins. The funeral will be at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple St. Lynn, on Thursday, Jan. 6, at 9 a.m.
The funeral mass will be in St. Mary's Church at 10 a.m. The Internment will be St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lynn.
Marion (Cobb) Alger, North Easton, Mass. resident, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 5, 2001 at the home of her son, Wayne Eldridge. She was 79 with her 80th birthday on March 6, 2001.
She was the wife of the late George B. Eldridge of Brockton, Mass., as well as the wife of the late Alton Alger of North Easton, Mass.
Born and educated in Brockton, Mass., Mrs. Alger was a resident of North Easton, Mass. for the past 36 years. During her working career she was employed at Randy Boat Shoe of Randolph, Mass., former company, and Cape Cod Originals of West Bridgewater, Mass.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Rev. David B. and Virginia Eldridge of Glen and Wyoming, R.I. and Wayne B. and Angelika Eldridge of East Bridgewater, Mass., and was predeceased by another son, Donald B. Eldridge in 1993. She enjoyed her seven grandchildren: Melissa Eldridge, James Eldridge, and Michael Eldridge of East Bridgewater, Mass.; Katherine Eldridge of Boston, Mass.; Susan Eldridge of Glen; Brian Eldridge of Plymouth; and Robin Eldridge of Vermont. Mrs. Alger had one great-grandchild.
She is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth A. Cobb of Wareham, Mass., and a brother, Harold G. Cobb of New Port Richie, Fla.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 9 at 12 noon at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main Street, Brockton, Mass. Visiting hours will take place on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Raymond H. Emery Jr., 76, of Center Conway, died at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester on Thursday, March 1, 2001, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Massachusetts on Feb. 21, 1925, a son of the late Raymond H. and Abigail (MacAllister) Emery Sr. A resident of Center Conway since 1986, he had previously lived in Nashua and Twin Mountain.
He was the husband of Mary P. (Armstrong) Emery, to whom he had been married for almost 23 years.
After serving two tours of duty in the U.S. Coast Guard, serving on a destroyer, Mr. Emery was employed by the U.S. government civil service and spent the next 26 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. His position was that of supervisor of the nuclear power department, working with nuclear submarines. As well, Mr. Emery had spent four years working part-time as a special officer for the Newington, Dover, and Portsmouth Police Departments.
Mr. Emery had attended the Episcopal church.
He enjoyed woodworking and doing crossword puzzles. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 46 in Conway.
He was educated in Massachusetts and took numerous college courses at the University of New Hampshire, University of Connecticut, and other colleges.
Mr. Emery was predeceased by four brothers and a sister.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his stepdaughter Paulette Vollheim and her husband, Peter, of Nashua; a grandson, Weston Vollheim of Nashua; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visiting hours. Funeral services and internment will be held in the Spring at the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. Contributions in his memory may be made to: N. E. Genevieve M. Foley, age 77 of Fox Den North Road, Sandown, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at the Integrated Health Services in Derry.
She was born in Bogota, N.J., the daughter of Bartholomew and Genevieve Foley. She graduated from private school in Englewood, N.J., and went to work for the government Lend Lease Programs in Washington D.C. and New York City during World War II. She also sang at the USO clubs in those cities. After World War II, she helped manage the family hotel called The Regionhouse in Intervale, and worked for the Aero-Icing Research Labs in Bartlett. In more recent years, she managed a radio station in the Manchester area.
She is survived by one daughter, Terry Muessiq of San Jose, Calif., two brothers, James Foley of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Ed Foley of Madison.
A memorial mass will be held at Saint Mark's in Londonderry, and burial service will be conducted later this spring in North Conway. In lieu of flowers or donations, just do a kind deed for a fellow human being in memory of Genevieve.
CONWAY ó Letha B. Tweedie, 87, of 1251 White Mountain Highway in North Conway, died March 3, 2001, at Sunbridge Health Care in North Conway after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Tweedie was born on Aug. 24, 1913, in Blaine, Maine, the daughter of the late Clarence and Bernice (Corey) Faulkner. She was married to Andrew N. Tweedie for 55 years until his death in 1986. She moved to Aroostook County to St. Albans, Maine, in 1945. She raised her family of seven children while working a dairy farm with her husband. She was also employed by Irving Training Co., of Hartland, Maine, for many years. She then moved to Glastonbury, Conn., in 1963 with their four children and moved back to Maine in 1969 where they lived in the St. Albans and Canaan area. They finally returned to Aroostook County (Mars Hill) in 1985.
Family members include two sons, Peter (Lauren) Tweedie, of Brownfield, Maine, and Ronald (Kristine) Tweedie, of East Hampton, Conn.; two daughters, Donna (Howard) Wilson of Vasselboro, Maine, and Susanne (Newell) Boutwell, of Windsor Locks, Conn.; 24 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Dorie Workman, of Robinson, Maine, Margerie Brewer, of Bridgewater, Maine, and Donna Smith, of Mars Hill, Maine; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three children, Jacqueline in 1968, Gary in 1971 and William in 1983; three grandsons; one great granddaughter; two brothers, Robert Faulkner and Clarence Faulkner; and two sisters, Marguerite Turner and Winifred Brown.
A graveside service is scheduled for July 3, 2001, at Westfield Cemetery in Westfield, Maine.
The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.
CONWAY ó Grace Champney Russell, 81, formerly of Wilder Street, died March 4, 2001, at the Sunbridge Nursing Home in North Conway.
She was born July 26, 1919, in Somerville, Mass., the daughter of the late Richard and Betsy (Olin) Baxter. She had lived in Conway since 1964, previously living in Wellsley, Mass.
Pre-deceased by her husband, Theodore Russell in 1985, she leaves a son, Theodore Russell Jr., of Bucksport, Maine; two daughters, Joan Bean, of Conway, and Janet Labbe, of Conway; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Spring burial will be in Conway Village Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to Harvest Hills Animal Shelter in Bridgton, Maine.
The Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service in West Ossipee is in charge of arrangements.
NORTH CHATHAM ó Everett Walton "Walt" Charles, 86, of Route 113 in North Chatham, died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at the Fryeburg Health Care Center.
He was born in North Chatham and lived his whole life in the house in which he was born. He was the son of Madison and Lillian Charles and was educated in Chatham schools. He drove a school bus for Fryeburg Academy for 35 years and later drove for Chatham School Department for 10 years. He was a member of the Chatham Grange and the Chatham Fire Association. For several years he was the town surveyor of bark, lumber and trees; he was also the town fence viewer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.
His wife, Mary Ellen Webster Charles, died in 2000.
He is survived by two sons, Richard O. Charles and Russell D. Charles, both of North Chatham; two daughters, Thayer E. Colbath of Cape Coral, Fla., and Kimberly Sturdivant, of Elliot; one sister, Anna Chandler, of Ashland, NH; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at the North Chatham Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Fryeburg Rescue, P.O. Box 177, Fryeburg, Maine 04037.

CONWAY ó George W. Booth Jr., 65, of Conway, died March 2, 2001, at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway after a sudden illness.
Born in Lynn, Mass., the son of George and Sadie (Nicholson) Booth, he lived in Marblehead, Mass., for 14 years before moving to the Mount Washington Valley in 1977.
He graduated from Lynn English High School in Lynn, Mass., and had been a self-employed building contractor.
Mr. Booth had been a show manager for Eastern Fishing and Outdoor Expos for the past 25 years.
He was past president of the Lynn (Mass.) Fish and Game Protective Association and past president of the New England Outdoor Writers' Association.
He enjoyed auctions and antiques.
The family includes his wife, Patricia (Dow) Booth, of Conway; a daughter, Deborah A. Shackford and her husband Paul, of Conway; a grandson, Matthew P. Shackford, of Conway; his mother, Sadie E. Booth, of Lynn, Mass.; a brother, Alvin Booth, of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister, Eleanor McClory, of Lynn, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway, with the Rev. Katherine Russo, pastor of the Conway United Methodist Church, officiating. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
MADISON ó Henry Simonds "Hank" Hubbell Jr., of Madison, died March 2, 2001, after a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 16, 1924, in Dedham, Mass. After graduation from Milton Academy, Henry went to Culver Academy and later attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Having flown airplanes since the age of 14, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1941 and served until 1945 as a naval aviator during World War II. At the end of the war, he returned to Conway where his family had relocated.
Between 1945 and 1957, he was involved in several businesses, including operating the Conway Village Airport, before he began a 20-year career with the Federal Aviation Administration. He and his wife Ruthe built a retirement home on family land in Madison and returned to the Mount Washington Valley in 1977.
Henry then served as a Madison selectman for 15 years and was on the board of directors for the Fryeburg Airport. Throughout his life, Henry maintained a love of flying and will be remembered by many as their aviation instructor or charter pilot.
Henry and Ruthe are longtime members of Christ Episcopal Church, where he served as the senior warden.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Ruthe Lovering Hubbell, of Madison; two sons, Kent L. Hubbell and his wife Sue Eshelman, of Ithaca, N.Y., and Dr. Franklin R. Hubbell and his wife Lee Frizzell of Conway; a daughter, Jane Hubbell and her husband Alan Shelton of Harrisonburg, Va.; his much loved grandchildren, Seth, Abby, Jonathan and Thor; a brother, Thomas W. Hubbell, of Raymond, Maine; a sister, Katherine M. Hubbell, of Conway; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held March 9, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in North Conway, with the Rev. Jack Haney, rector, officiating. There will be no visiting hours. Burial will be held later in the spring at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Christ Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 382, North Conway, NH 03860, for a memorial garden that will be established at the church in his memory.
