LaVerne A. Henn
TAMWORTH - LaVerne A. Henn, 67, of Tamworth, died Jan. 8, 2000, at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway following a long illness.
Born in Elgin, Minn., the son of William and Esther (Warner) Henn, he grew up in La Crosse, Wisc., lived in Beloit, Wisc., for five years and in Groton, Conn., for 25 years before moving to Tamworth in 1994.
Mr. Henn graduated from Central High School, Class of 1950, in La Crosse, Wisc., and graduated from Wisconsin State College in Whitewater, Wisc., in 1960.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was finance director for the town of Groton, Conn., for 25 years.
He was past president of the Municipal Finance Officers of Connecticut; past president of the Groton (Conn.) Lion's Club; and a member of the Morning Star Lodge No. 10 F&AM in Beloit, Wisc.
The family includes his wife of 38 years, Mary L. Henn, of Tamworth; two sons, Steven R. Henn, of Ashaway, R.I., and Joseph L. Henn, of Pawcatuck, Conn.; a daughter, Carol E. Startz, of Yorktown, Va.; a granddaughter, Brooke E. Startz, of Yorktown, Va.; three sisters, Alice Dubbels, of Zumbro Falls, Minn., Marie Brieske and Barbara Peterson, both of La Cross, Wisc.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Conway Village Congregational Church in Conway, with the Rev. Alfred J. Gagnon III, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Conway Village Cemetery. Visiting hours will be today, Monday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway. There will be a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home during visiting hours.

Richard C. Anderson
Richard C. Anderson, 67, formerly of Ashland and Newton Upper Falls, died, Friday, January 7, 2000 at his home in Tamworth. He was the husband of Margaret A. (Lindsey) Anderson. A resident of Tamworth since 1990, he was born in Newton. He was the son of the late John V. and Sigrid (Edmund) Anderson.
Mr. Anderson was formerly employed in the maintenance department of the Leggat McCall Real Estate Company of Framingham. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the Albany VFW, former member of the Waltham, Mass. Moose Lodge and an avid fisherman and hunter.
In addition to his wife his is survived by two sons: Robert C. Anderson of Randolph, James V. Anderson of Ashland, two daughters, Deborah A. Lampasona and Donna E. Dewar, both of Ashland. Also one brother Clarence Anderson of Orlando, Fla. and one sister Dorothy Anderson of Newton Upper Falls, six grandchildren and his dog Max.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common today from 5 to 9 p.m. A funeral service at 8 p.m. will be conducted by the Rev. Francis Reeves of the First Methodist Church of Newton.
Bruce A. Clemons
BARTLETT - Bruce A. Clemons, 81, of Bartlett, died Jan. 5, 2000, at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, after a brief illness.
Born in Brunswick, Maine, the son of Elwin and Laura (Trecarten) Clemons, he was a lifelong resident of Bartlett. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1938 and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Clemons had been employed by the Maine Central Railroad for 40 years, retiring as a section foreman. He was a charter member and past commander of Francis P. Murphy Post 5386 VFW in Bartlett and a member of Ralph Shirley American Legion Post 46 in Conway.
The family includes: his wife of 57 years, Mary W. Clemons of Bartlett; a son, Roger M. Clemons of Jackson; a daughter, Marilyn Ruggles of Phoenix, Ariz.; a grandson, Jason Clemons of Jackson; two brothers, Donald H. Clemons of Washington and James R. Clemons Sr. of Bartlett; a sister, Doris S. Dodd of Worcester, Mass., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Bartlett Union Congregational Church in Bartlett with the Rev. George Harvey, officiating. Burial will be in the Bartlett Village Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway.

Muriel E. Moulton
WENTWORTH - Muriel E. Moulton, 71, died Jan. 3, 2000, at Golden View Health Care Center in Meredith.
Born in Concord on Jan. 4, 1928, she was the daughter of Forrest and Roxanne (Philbrick) Canney.
Mrs. Moulton was raised in Tamworth and had resided in Tilton before moving to Wentworth in 1985.
She had been employed as operator for New England Telephone Company for 30 years. Mrs. Moulton was a member of the Pioneers for 19 years.
She was predeceased by her sister Marilyn Drew. She is survived by one son, Robert E. Moulton of Wentworth, two grandchildren, and one brother, Haven Canney of East Conway.
A calling hour will be held in the Lord Funeral Home, on Moultonboro Road, Center Ossipee, on Saturday at 10 a.m. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Rev. Mel Hansen will officiate. Burial will be held in Chickville Cemetery, Ossipee.

Henry Chittenden Barbour
CONWAY - Henry Chittenden Barbour, 88, of Bolton Hill Road, North Conway, died on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000 at Memorial Hospital in North Conway after a brief illness.
He was born in Freiburg, Germany, the son of Henry G. and Lilla Chittenden Barbour and lived in London, England; Montreal, Quebec; Louisville, Ky.; and New Haven, Conn. as a boy. He attended high school in Louisville, Ky., and Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Mass. He received bachelor of science and master of forestry degrees from Yale University.
After college he worked as a CCC group leader and in the forest products industry, and in forestry for several federal and state agencies. In 1950 he moved to Fryeburg, Maine, and spent most of the rest of his life working as a mineralogist and a lapidary.
He was most happy when outdoors, and he hiked and skied and mined for semi-precious gems in the mountains of northern New England until his final illness. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of the mountains, ponds, streams and trails.
He was a member of St. Margaret's Anglican Church in North Conway, the Saco Valley Gem and Mineral Club and the Fryeburg Historical Society. He was on the board of trustees of Conway Memorial Hospital and a member of the Fryeburg Conservation Commission.
He is survived by his son, Laurance C. Barbour of North Conway; his daughter, Susan B. Pallante of Clearwater, Fla.; his brother, Russell C. Barbour of Brownfield, Maine; his sister, Dorothy B. Slavich of Kerrville, Texas; and seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
His wife, Eva Watt Barbour, died in 1990 and his son, Jeffery W. Barbour, died in 1996.

June A. Trott
FRYEBURG, Maine - June A. Trott, 67, of Cross Street in Fryeburg, died Jan. 3, 2000, at her winter home in Hudson, Fla.
She was born in Fryeburg, the daughter of James and Muriel Jewell Kiesman Sr., and graduated from Fryeburg Academy, class of 1950.
June lived in Fryeburg most of her life and a short time in Kezar Falls where she worked for Etna Electric. She also worked many years for Northland Shoe Company in Fryeburg.
She was a member of the Fryeburg New Church, past matron of Cornish Chapter O.E.S and past mother advisor for the Rainbow.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip E. Trott Jr. of Fryeburg, Maine; one son, Paul E. Trott of South Berwick, Maine; one daughter, Catherine Tweedie of Carmel, Maine; two brothers, James H. Kiesman, of East Conway and Donald M. Kiesman, of Fryeburg, Maine; two sisters, Lillian Emery and Marilyn Gould, both of Fryeburg; five grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
At her request, services will be private.

Katherine E. Young
MIDDLEBORO, Mass. - Katherine E. (Kramer) Young, 87 of Taunton, Mass., and Madison, NH, died on Sunday Jan. 2, 2000, at the Atrium Nursing Home in Middleboro after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late John D. Young who died in 1985. She was born in Boston, Mass., the daughter of the late John H. and Katherine E. (Killeen) Kramer. She had lived in Taunton since 1958 and enjoyed a second home in Madison. She was a retired laboratory technician for Nabisco Company. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church, East Taunton. She had been a volunteer at Morton Hospital for three years. She was a member of Madison Snowmobile Club. She organized holiday parties for Special Needs Children in Madison.
Survivors include two sons Ronald Young, of East Taunton, and John Kramer of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother John G. Kramer of Florida; and two grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St. Middleboro on Thursday at 11 a.m. Friends will be welcome from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday. Burial to follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.

Charles Hammond
TAMWORTH - Charles Hammond, 83, formerly of Tamworth, died Dec. 28, 1999, in Louisville, Ky.
A native of Tamworth, the son of the late Edward S. and Mary MacGilvery, he joined the US. Army during World War II. He moved to Connecticut and later to Santa Barbara, Calif., where he owned and trained thoroughbred horses most of his life.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas P. Hammond, Omaha, Neb.; and Edward J. Hammond, Bradford, Conn.; three grandchildren; and two nephews, Stanley Hammond and Roy Hammond, both of Tamworth.
There will be no calling hours, Graveside services will be held in the Chocorua Cemetery in the spring Lord Funeral Home in Center Ossipee is in charge of arrangements.
Erwin E. Pitman
FRYEBURG, Maine - Erwin E. Pitman died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, in Citrus Springs, Fla.
He was born in Fryeburg, Maine, March 4, 1918, the son of Ralph E. and Helen Byron Pitman. He was educated in Fryeburg and Portland, Maine, schools and graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1936.
He was married to the former Dorothy Hill for 59 years. He was a building contractor most of his life and owned Jockey Cap Store from 1960-1975. He started the Community Flea Market at Fryeburg Fair Grounds and ran it for many years. He was an avid sportsman, hunting and fishing, both in Quebec and locally.
He was a veteran of World War II, stationed in Italy for one year. He was a life member of Pythagorean Lodge No. 11 A.F. and A.M. of Fryeburg; former member of Frank W. Shaw Post American Legion and Fryeburg Fish and Game; and a member of Chatham Historical Society. He was a communicant of the Universalist Church in North Fryeburg.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter Judith Cogswell of Dunnellon, Fla.; a son, James, of Conway; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Fryeburg with a memorial service at a later date.
