Linda Jeziorkowski
Died: Monday, April 18, 2005
Age: 52
LAKE RONKONKOMA, N.Y. - Linda Jeziorkowski, 52, of Lake Ronkonkoma N.Y. (formerly of Barnstead) died on April 18, after a short illness. She had been a special education paraprofessional and the smiling crossing guard for the Barnstead Elementary School since 2000.
She was the beloved wife of the late John G. She leaves her daughter Lynn (Brian Walsh) of N.Y., with whom she lived; two sons, Frederick, and her youngest son John, of Barnstead. She also leaves one grandson, Billy, four sisters and one brother.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Ruland Funeral Home in Patchogue, N.Y.
At the family's request, the Benefit Dinner/Dance for "Mrs. J," scheduled for May 7 (reported in the 4/21 issue of the Granite State News) at the Alton Bay Pavilion, has been canceled.

Grace Betts Bender
Died: Saturday, April 16, 2005
Age: 79
TUFTONBORO - Grace Betts Bender, 79, died April 16. Born in Trenton, N.J., Bender was raised in Maplewood, N.J. and attended The Washington School for Secretaries after high school. Married for 60 years to Fred Bender, she was a faithful mother and friend to their children: Joanne B. Growitz, Sarajane B. Diosi, Robert M. Bender, and Cynthia B. Scam. Lovely needlepoint artistry was her favorite. She was executive secretary for years at Darien's Red Cross Chapter, Conn., and has been a blessing to ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A service of Thanksgiving for her life was held at the Troon Village Club House Monday, April 25. A service will be scheduled later in the spring at Saint Luke's Church in Darien, Conn.
Sadie Wilson Stocker
Died: Thursday, April 14, 2005
Age: 99
ROCHESTER - Sadie Wilson Stocker, 99, of 106 Chestnut Hill Road, died Thursday, April 14 at the Rochester Manor.
She was born February 15, 1906 in Northern Ireland, the daughter of Alfred and Mary (Mark) Turner. She was a former resident of Clearwater, Fla.; Watertown, N.Y.; and Dover, prior to moving to Rochester 10 years ago to live with her granddaughter Pam Rines and friend Carolyn Lawson.
Her first husband, Thomas David Wilson, died in 1977 her second husband, John J. Stocker, died in 1993. Two brothers, Fred and James Turner, also predeceased her.
She leaves a daughter, Shirley E. Rines and her husband, Mark of Wolfeboro; three grandchildren: David Rines and his wife Catherine; Alan Rines, Pamela Rines and her friend Carolyn Lawson; two great-grandchildren: Matthew Rines, and Jennifer DeCosta and her husband, Daniel; and a great-great-grandson, Cody DeCosta.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 24 at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover with Rev. Anne Robertson, pastor of St. John United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Dover.

William H. Davenport
Died: Thursday, April 14, 2005
Age: 82
WOLFEBORO - William H. "Bill" Davenport, of Wolfeboro Common and Spring Hill, Florida passed away on Thursday, April 14, at his home under the care of his wife and Hospice.
He was born on Oct. 7, 1921, in Newark, N.J. and graduated from Nutley High School in 1939. He then graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn. in 1943. He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.
After college, he was selected as one of the top chemists in the country to work on the Manhattan Project at Princeton University. He was awarded a Medal of Honor by the Army Corp of Engineers.
He then went on to become a research chemist for Monsanto Chemical Company in Oak Ridge, Tenn. His career continued as an executive and research scientist for Chase Brass and Copper Company in Waterbury, Conn. He ended his professional career at Kinnecott Copper Company in Cleveland, Ohio. He was world renowned for his research in Rhenium and received many patents for his work.
In 1970, he and his first wife, Virginia moved to Clearwater Beach and purchased the Port-Vue Motel. After her death he met and married Mary and they moved to Timber Pines in Spring Hill to enjoy the retirement years playing golf, bridge and traveling. He had a passion for solving Sunday crossword puzzles of the NY Times and Boston Globe.
In 1995, Bill and Mary moved to Wolfeboro Common where they summered each year.
Survivors include his wife of the last 15 years, Mary, a son, Geoffrey (Millie) Davenport; a daughter Deborah (Tim) Dennis; Mary's daughter Stoney (Skip) Dvornik; a brother, Carlton (June); a sister Barbara (Hurley) Butler; a sister in law, Lois Davenport; grandchildren, Bryony, Devon, Teale, Gracie, Truman, Morgan, Carter, and William H Davenport IV; nephews Aaron, Scott, and Dave and a niece Donna.
A gathering to honor and celebrate Bill's life was held in Spring Hill on April 18 with Pastor Skip Dvornik officiating.
There will be a memorial service at the First Congregational Church in Wolfeboro on June 20 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jim Christensen officiating.

Shirley Ann (Jones) Hudson

WOLFEBORO - Shirley Ann (Jones) Hudson, 74, of Geneva, Ala., died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 14.
Hudson was born May 8, 1931 in Wolfeboro to the late Ernest Stanton and Lucy Hannah (Knights) Jones. She was a member of the Enterprise Church of the Epiphany.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Braxton Hudson, and a brother, Stanton Jones.
She leaves two sons, James Hudson of Geneva, Ala., and Kevin Hudson and his wife Beth, of Bushnell, Fla. She also leaves five daughters and four sons-in-law; Barbara (Hudson) and Bob Casterlin of Geneva, Ala.; Gloria (Hudson) Gschwender of Glenville, N.Y.; Patricia (Hudson) and Marvin Taylor of Minneola, Fla.; Sharon (Hudson) and Jim Dumont of Port St. John, Fla.; Tammi (Hudson) and Timothy Creech of Coffee Springs, Ala.; two brothers, Robert and Jendy Jones of Geneva, Ala.; Russell and Penney Jones of Alton; one sister, Joyce Lampron of Wolfeboro, as well as 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 17 in the Chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva, Ala., with Father Tom Nixon officiating. Burial was Monday, June 20 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla. Family and friends were received at the home of her daugher, Barbara Castlerlin in Geneva, Ala.
Carmen (Davis) Knapp

Age: 71
CENTER OSSIPEE - Carmen (Davis) Knapp, 71, of Ossipee Mountain Road, died Thursday, July 14, at Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro. Knapp was born Oct. 4, 1933 in North Conway, the daughter of the late Robert E. and Mary (Grover) Davis. She had lived in Jackson, and graduated from the Fryeburg Academy in Fryeburg, Maine. She moved to Center Ossipee in 1956 when she married her husband Richard A Knapp.
Knapp worked as a waitress for the Sunny Villa Restaurant in Ossipee for 36 years. She also worked for the Pioneer Restaurant in Tamworth, and most recently for the Iron Kettle in Center Ossipee.
She attended the Moultonville United Methodist Church in Center Ossipee and the Jackson Community Church, Jackson.
She leaves her husband of 51 years Richard A. Knapp, Center Ossipee; a daughter, Becky Keyes and her husband Bill, Tuftonboro; five grandchildren, Brian W., Todd A., Amanda Keyes, Scott A. Knapp and Michelle L. Cote; a brother, Robert D. Davis, Jackson; as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Robert A. Knapp and her sister Eleanor D. Lang.
Calling hours were Sunday, July 18, at the Lord Funeral Home, 50 Moultonville Road, Ctr. Ossipee, NH. Funeral services were Monday, July 18, at the Moultonville United Methodist Church, Center Ossipee. Burial was in the Grant Hill Cemetery, Ctr. Ossipee.

Bernard A. Jacques
Died: Thursday, July 14, 2005
Age: 82
EFFINGHAM - Bernard A. Jacques Sr., 82, of Effingham, died Thursday, July 14, at the Mountain View Nursing Home, in Ossipee. Jacques was born July 10, 1923 in Springfield, Mass., the son of the late Walter and Muriel (Bourbeau) Jacques. He lived in Indian Orchard, Mass. for many years before moving to Chicopee, Mass., where he lived for several years. Before moving to New Hampshire last year, Jacques and his wife had lived in Georgia.
He had worked as a heat treater in the Springfield Armory during WWII. He later went to work for Westinghouse in Springfield and then later worked as a leather cutter at Buxton's for 30 years before retiring in 1987.
He was a member of the Indian Orchard's Athletic Association. He played semi-professional hockey, as well as baseball and basketball for the Springfield Rockets.
Jacques was predeceased by his first wife, Eunice Jacques.
He leaves his wife of 20 years, Carol (Wilson) Jacques, Effingham; his children, Bernard A. Jacques Jr.; Michael Jacques; Bruce Jacques; Cindy Jacques; and Pamela Carlson all of Springfield, Mass. He also leaves his five stepchildren, 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Delia "Babe" Vickers

Age: 90
FARMINGTON - Delia "Babe" Vickers, age 90, a resident at Our Place Inn Time and longtime resident of Farmington, died Wednesday morning, July 13, at SunBridge Care of Rochester.
Born Sept. 1, 1914 in Caswell Plantation (Limestone), Maine, she was a daughter of the late Pierre and Annie (Dupont) Beaulieu. Raised in North Cambridge, Mass., she had lived in Farmington, since 1933.
A homemaker and mother, she was the widow of the late Charles Stuart Vickers, Jr., who died in 1961. She also had been a shoeworker in local shoe factories.
Babe enjoyed cooking, crocheting, arts and crafts.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruth and husband Donald Pratt of Englewood, Fla. and Wells, Maine; one son: Kerry L. Vickers of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Adelaide French of Laconia; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Vickers of Springfield, Mo. nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews and a special friend, Kathy Seaver of Farmington. A son, Charles S. Vickers III, died in November 2004.
Calling hours will be held on Friday evening, July 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street in Farmington. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday morning, July 23, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Farmington. WOLFEBORO - Anne L. (Rose) Widman, 79, of Old Mill Rd., died suddenly at her home in her sleep, July 12.
Born in Ashland, Ky. May 27, 1926, daughter of the late Everett Lee and Mabel (Picklesimer) Rose, she had lived in Wolfeboro since 1971. Prior to her move to Wolfeboro, she lived in Worthington, Ohio.
Widman received her Bachelor of Arts from Kentucky Wesleyan College and had been preparing to be a missionary to Pakistan at Hartford Seminary Foundation, when she met her husband of 53 years, Harry, and decided to get married instead of joining the missionary. She worked as the director of administration and Elderhostel Coordinator at Geneva Point Center in Moultonborough and director of Christian education for several churches in Ohio.
A very active member of the Wolfeboro First Congregational Church UCC, she had served as a moderator of the church and chaired various boards and committees. She volunteered with the Wolfeboro Caregivers, Meals on Wheels, Hospice Advisory Committee, was the volunteer dining room supervisor at Brewster Academy and did fund-raising for many organizations.
She was the first woman elected to First Vice President of the International Association of Conference Center Administrators, served on the board of N.H. Camp Directors Association and New England Chapter of the American Camping Association. She was also a founding member of the Worthington Ohio United Church.
For 30 years, Widman and her husband led study trips abroad. She was also an active member of Morgensolen Lodge Sons, of Norway.
She leaves her husband, Reverend Harry Widman of Wolfeboro; a son and daughter-in-law Gregory and Cheryl Widman of Moultonborough; three daughters and their husbands Jean and Charles Vargas of Pittsford, Vt., Sara and Kevin Worthington of Wilmington, Mass., Kristianne and Glenn Johnson of Marlboro, Mass.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday July 17 at the Wolfeboro First Congregational Church UCC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, Wolfeboro (for support of women's scholarships in Ghana), Brewster Academy Widman Family Scholarship or the Geneva Point Center Widman Family Endowment for buildings and grounds.
