Theodore (Ted) Eaton
Died: Monday, May 16, 2005
Age: 63
WOLFEBORO —Theodore (Ted) Leslie Eaton, 63. of Sewall Road, Wolfeboro, died Tuesday, May 16 at his home after a four-year battle with cancer.
He was the husband of Melanie (Osenenko) Eaton. Ted and Melanie celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary on April 7.
Born in Spartenburg, S.C., son of Leland Leslie Eaton and Muriel Crowell Eaton, Ted was raised in Verna, N.J. After graduating with a bachelor's degree from Roanoke College, Roanoke, Va., he returned to Verona until his marriage in 1973. Ted and Melanie lived in Little Falls, N.J., where they started their family.
Ted spent more than 20 years in the technology industry in New York City as a top sales executive, until being promoted to Regional Director of Sales and Vice President of Marketing for Prime Computer, in Framingham, Mass. He also had a successful tenure as Vice President of sales and marketing with Workstation Solutions located in Nashua.
Ted was fondly recognized and will be remembered for his love of Wolfeboro and his active participation in the community. Since his retirement and move to Wolfeboro in 1996, he shared his love of the lake and antique boating in many ways. He was the chairman and organizer of the annual Antique and Classic Boat and Car Rendezvous held every October in Wolfeboro. Ted also worked on the restoration of many antique boats local to the area. A member of the New England Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society (ACBS), and award-winning editor of the Cutwater Magazine, he shared his passions with local avid boaters.
Ted also shared his commitment to community and love or the water when he served as a N.H. State Marine Patrol Officer and instructor on Lake Winnipesaukee from 1997-2004. In addition, he always found time to teach on-water boating instruction to local residents in his spare time.
Ted leaves his mother, Muriel C. Eaton, 94, of Wolfeboro; his daughter, Meredith C. Eaton, 26, of Hartford, Conn.; and his son, Theodore P. Eaton, 24, of Wolfeboro.
Calling hours will be from 6-8 p.m. today, May 19, at the Baker-Gagne Funeral Home, 85 Mill Street, Wolfeboro. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20 at the funeral home.

Harold H. Hersey
Died: Sunday, May 15, 2005
Age: 65
WOLFEBORO - Harold H. Hersey, 65, of Waumbec Road, died Sunday, May 15 at Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro. Harold was born August 22, 1939, in Wolfeboro and had lived in Ossipee until moving to Wolfeboro in 1960. He attended Kennett High School in Conway and was a self-employed building contractor for most of his life. Harold also served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judith (Bickford) Hersey, Wolfeboro, and his children Vicki McVitty and her husband, John, of Freedom, and Rick A. Hersey and his wife Nancy of Wolfeboro. He also leaves his grandchildren: Richard W. Eaton III; Brian N. Eaton; Melissa Eaton; Jonathan Hersey and Jessica Hersey; and his great-grandsons Camron and Hayden Hersey. He also leaves two sisters, Patricia Brownell, of Dover and Barbara St. Gelais, Newmarket, and his mother Florence Drew, of Wolfeboro.
Calling hours were Wednesday, at the Lord Funeral Home, Wolfeboro. Memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Wolfeboro today, May 19, at 11 a.m.

Daniel Paul Schevis
Died: Friday, May 13, 2005
Age: 54
MANCHESTER - Daniel Paul Schevis Jr., 54, of Londonderry, and formerly Danvers, Mass. died May 13 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was the husband of Micheline Michaud-Schevis of Londonderry. Schevis was born in Beverly, Mass., son of Marjorie J (Mello) Schevis and the late Daniel Paul Schevis Sr., and was raised in Danvers. He graduated from Danvers High School in 1968 and then attended the Rhode Island School of Design, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in architecture in 1972, and a Bachelor of Architecture in 1973. After graduation, he was employed by the Rhode Island Land Company as Assistant Project Manager for the construction of 400 luxury condominium units on Narragansett Bay in Bristol, R.I. In 1974, he moved to the Mount Washington Valley in New Hampshire where he became a well-known bartender until the fall of 1978, ending by managing the lounge at the Red Parka Pub and bartending at Horsefeathers. From late 1978 through 1980, Schevis was employed by CRS Design Associates of Houston, Texas, and worked in Saudi Arabia as the Architectural Project Manager for the renovations to the Ministry of Finance and National Economy in Riyadh. Upon returning from Saudi Arabia, Schevis worked for Columbia Construction Co. and Graham Architectural Products Corp. He then took a one-year sabbatical to design and construct his home in Danvers, which was occupied in the summer of 1984. From January 1985 until the time of his death, he was employed by Brickstone Properties Inc. of Andover, Mass. as their Director of Operations, where he was responsible for up to 2.624 SF of commercial office space.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his mother, Marjorie Schevis of Wolfeboro Falls, a daughter, Sara Schevis of Danvers, four stepsons, Brett Flint of Rowley, Mass., his wife Lori and their daughter Georgia-Kate; Carl Grenier of Salem, his wife Sandra, their daughter Chelsea and their son Ryan; Eric Grenier of Nashua, his sons, Joseph, Tyler and Gage; Jeffrey Beal of Nashua, his son Corey, his sister, Brenda Crane of Gorham, Maine and her daughter Taylor and her son Jasper; his brother, David Schevis of Hampton and his wife, Michele; his father-in-law, Alphee Michaud of Hudson, and St. Basil, NB Canada; four sisters-in-law, Arielle Penney of Nashua and her husband Richard; Alphena Morissette and her husband Armand of Chicago, Ill., their daughter Tina and their son Robert; Nancy Chapero of New York City and San Juan, Puerto Rico, and her husband Douglas; Ann Michaud of Nashua, her daughter Jennifer and her sons, Jeffrey, Shaun and Patrick; two brothers-in-law, Richard Michaud of Boston, Michael Michaud of Hudson, his wife Marie, his daughter Kimberly and his son Michael, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated May 18 at St. Jude Parish, Londonderry, with cremation following. Calling hours were held at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Londonderry. Jean MacArthur Walker
Died: Thursday, May 12, 2005
Age: 78
NEW DURHAM - Jean MacArthur Walker, age 78, of South Shore Road, New Durham, died at Frisbie Memorial Hospital Thursday, May 12.
She was born May 9, 1927, in Ashtabula, Ohio, daughter of the late Donald Cameron MacArthur and the late Jennie Deane Moulton MacArthur.
She graduated from Harbor High School in Ashtabula in 1945 before attending Ohio University for two years. Jean moved to New York City where she worked as a model and then as an administrative assistant at Benton & Bowles advertising agency. Later she continued her career as an administrative assistant with the National Broadcasting Company in Cleveland, Ohio.
In 1957, she married David R. Walker of Lisbon, Ohio and the couple moved to Exeter, where David taught at Phillips Exeter Academy for 27 years. Jean was closely involved with the running of the dormitory that her husband and two sons shared with the students.
She retired to Merrymeeting Lake in New Durham where, when not devoting time to her family and friends, she enjoyed gardening, sewing and her cat Molly.
Jean is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Nancy of Oakland, Calif.; her son Don of Watertown, Mass; her grandchildren, Kate and Maya Walker of Oakland, Calif.; and her sister and brother-in-law Donna and Harry McDonald of Concord, Ohio. Her husband, David, preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
George Watson Jr.
Died: Wednesday, May 11, 2005
Age: 58
BRICK, N. J. - George Watson, Jr., died on Wednesday, May 11, at home. He was 58. Born in Lakewood, NJ, Watson and his family lived in Ohio, Colorado, England, and Germany before returning to settle in the United States. His early religious foundation began with the Anglican Church of England. He graduated from Lakewood High School, Thomas Edison College and Kean University. He was a proud loving father, son, and husband. His calm, caring demeanor and ability to convey his vast knowledge and insight to all he came in contact with will truly be missed.
Perhaps Watson's most salient qualities were his humor, passion for history, law, equality in employment, amazing memory and brilliant mind. As a United States Air Force veteran, he was a multi-talented entrepreneur who served as a director/principal of Watson Security Agent Academy and Juanita Day School; owner of W.S.A.A. Limousine Service; private detective and guardian at litem in the State of New Hampshire; bus driver for Greyhound Bus Lines; and librarian/media specialist to countless children in various school districts including: Newark Public Schools, Asbury Park Public Schools, and most recently in the Lakewood Public Schools.
He enjoyed remote-control airplanes, watching the CBS news magazine show "60 Minutes," listening to oldies music (especially Motown classics), researching the law, watching movies, and talking on the telephone to countless friends. He also helped to establish, operate, and serve as the president of the New Jersey Paralegal Association. One of his proudest moments was running as an Independent candidate for Governor of the State of New Jersey in the Nov. 2001 General Election.
He leaves his parents; George Watson, Sr., an original Tuskegee Airman and his mother, Louise J. Watson; a sister, Tina A.; and a brother, Maurice. He leaves at home his wife of 36 years, Cheryl A. (Cochran) Watson, and two sons, George Bryce Watson III, and Mark B. Watson.

Marjorie Lee Henson
Died: Tuesday, May 10, 2005
Age: 75
CHICOPEE - Marjorie Lee (Hadwen) Henson, 75, a resident Chicopee since September of 2001, died Tuesday, May 10, at the Willimansett East Nursing Home in Chicopee.
She was born October 15, 1929 in Danby, Vt., a daughter of the late John and Leila (Beecher) Hadwen. She had lived in Wolfeboro since 1983, and before that, in Canaan, Vt., before moving to Chicopee. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Vermont where she belonged to the United Methodist Women's Club, and was a Rotarian in Wolfeboro. She was a stewardess for the former Northeast Airlines for 10 years and worked for the Balsams Grand Resort in Dixville Notch as an auditor from 1968-1971. She was a Post Mistress from 1971 until her retirement.
She was the proud and loving mother of Holly E. Henson of Seattle, Wash. and Merrilee H. Riopelli of Holyoke, Mass.; she was the loving sister of Glen E. Hadwen of Rochester; and a loving and devoted grandmother of Johnathan, Brandon and Connor (the twins). A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 4, at 2 p.m., in the Grace United Methodist Church in Canann, Vt. The Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee Street in the Willimansett section of Chicopee is in charge of the arrangements.
Barbara B. Thomas
Died: Tuesday, May 10, 2005
Age: 73
AIKEN, S.C. - Barbara B. Thomas, 73, of Aiken, S.C., died Tuesday, May 10, at her home. A daughter of the late Albert C. and Mary Jane Cornelison Buffum, she was born in San Francisco, Calif. Before moving to Aiken in 2002, she had lived in Hilton Head Island for fourteen years. Prior to that, she had lived in Weston, Conn. for twenty years.
"Buffie" as she was known, was a member of the Altar Guild at Emmanuel Church, Weston, Conn., and enjoyed their summer home on Broadside Road, Wolfeboro Neck, for many years. Buffie and her husband Dave enjoyed flying their Mooney between Danbury, Conn. and Wolfeboro Airpark. She was a member of the Hilton Head Plantation Women's Club, the Country Club of Hilton Head, the Hilton Head Yacht Club, and the Green Thumbers, the Woodside Reserve Club, Women of Woodside and the Aiken Newcomers Club. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority of Ohio Wesleyan College and was fond of needlework, sewing and quilting. She loved to tend to her gardens with David by her side. Last June, Buffie and David celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their two children and their families in Williamsburg, Va.
She leaves her husband, David H. Thomas, Aiken; a son, David B. Thomas and his wife Becky, Troy, Mich.; a daughter, Kerrie T. VanDalsum and her husband Michael, Bedford; a sister, Jeanne Collins, South Bend, Ind., and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Monday, May 16, St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, Aiken, S.C.; In June, a memorial service and burial will take place at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Weston, Conn. George Funeral Homes Historic Downtown Chapel 211 Park Ave SW is assisting the family.

Dorothy M. Hanson
Died: Monday, May 09, 2005
Age: 74
SANBORNVILLE - Dorothy M. Hanson, age 74, of Brackett Road in Sanbornville, died Monday evening May 9, at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro.
Born in Somerville, Mass. on Dec. 9, 1930, daughter of the late Walter and Agnes (MacCuish) Lee, she worked as a receptionist and secretary for Whiting Milk Co., Boston, Mass., and later trained as a CNA . She lived in North Reading, Mass. for 22 years, and moved to Sanbornville in 1977. She worked at the Mountain View Nursing Home in Ossipee.
The family includes her husband of 54 years, Donald K. Hanson; one son, Robert K. Hanson of Sanbornville; a daughter-in-law, Karen Hanson; three grandchildren, Debbie, Jason and Amanda; two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Malachi of East Lebanon, Maine. Her son, Glenn C. Hanson, died in 1995.
There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Saturday May 14, at 11 a.m. at Lovell Lake Cemetery in Sanbornville, family and friends are welcome. John Nelson Hoover
Died: Monday, May 09, 2005
Age: 23
TUFTONBORO - John Nelson Hoover, 23, died suddenly Monday, May 9 in Seattle, Wash., where he was attending the University of Washington Business School as a Dean's List student. John was majoring in business administration, with concentrations in entrepreneurship and information systems. In addition to his academics, he was vice president of the "Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Club" and owned a web hosting and design business.
His gift for making music was a source of joy for him and all those who heard him.
Born in Lebanon on Feb. 23, 1982, he spent the majority of his life in Tuftonboro, where he was home schooled. He was actively involved in the local church, as well as international missions to Turkey.
John is survived by his parents, Keith Hoover and Cheryl "Sherrie" Nelson Hoover of Tuftonboro; a sister, Lisa Hoover and her fiancé Nathan Chesley, Tuftonboro; his grandparents, Woody and Jerry Hoover, Tuftonboro; and Joyce Nelson, Concord; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins who all loved him dearly.
Donations in his memory may be made to the John Hoover Fund in care of the Community Bank & Trust Company, Varney Road, Wolfeboro, NH 03894. A portion of the proceeds will go to "WorldVision" and "Mission to Unreached Peoples."
He lavished love on everyone around him, pouring it out extravagantly as though drawing from a well, his friends never knew to run dry. Selflessness and integrity were trademarks of his life. To know him was to love him.
