Mary Elizabeth Kelley

KITTERY, Maine - Mary Elizabeth (Cunningham) Kelley, "Betty," 73, died Jan. 11 at York Hospital.
Kelley was born in Boston, Mass., Dec. 22, 1931, the beloved daughter of the late Arthur Cunningham and the late Katherine (Carlisle) Cunningham, both of Jamaica Plain, Mass. Before moving to the Seacoast region, she raised five children in Wolfeboro: Paul, of Laconia; David of Marstons Mills, Mass.; John, of Nottingham; Mark of Merrimac, Mass.; and Katherine, who died in 1976. She was the beloved grandmother to six grandchildren: Ariane, Parker, Emily, Evelyn, Trisha and Matthew.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, she leaves her devoted companion of 22 years, Tommy Hiscoe. She also leaves several loving cousins.
A memorial service celebrating Kelley's life will be held Saturday, Feb. 5, at noon, at the Nottingham Universalist Church in Nottingham. In the spring, her remains will be laid to rest next to her beloved daughter's in Wolfeboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Friends of the York Hospital, 15 Hospital Drive, York, ME 03909. Arrangements are entrusted to the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home of Kittery, Maine.
Josephine M. Valley
Died: Thursday, March 24, 2005
Age: 82
OSSIPEE - Josephine M. Valley, 82, died March 24, at the Mountain View Nursing Home in Ossipee where she has been a resident for many years.
Valley was born March 19, 1923 in Wolfeboro, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Champagne) Valley, and she lived most of her life in that town.
Predeceased by two brothers, Henry and G. Rudy Valley and two sisters, Rita Valley and Anna Griffin, she leaves several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held March 28, at St Katharine Drexel Church in Wolfeboro.
Burial will be later in the spring at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Sanbornville.
The Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Wolfeboro is in charge of the arrangements.
Alta M. Massey
Died: Thursday, March 24, 2005
Age: 77
SANBORNVILLE - Alta M. Massey, 77 of Church Street in Sanbornville, died Thursday morning, March 24, at Mountain View Nursing Home in Ossipee.
Born Aug. 10, 1927 in Haverhill, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Willard and Ilene (Sterling) Fogg. Raised in Wolfeboro, she attended school there, she had lived in Sanbornville for more than a year. Before that, she lived in Farmington for 12 years, and in Rochester.
She retired from the University of New Hampshire, where she had been employed as a supervisor at the cafeteria. She enjoyed playing Bingo.
She leaves her three sons: Calvin Massey of Sanbornville, Wayne Massey of Rochester and James Massey of Manchester; two daughters: Barbara Witter of Lebanon, Maine and Valerie Lampman of Alton; six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; two brothers: Willard Welch of Alton and Kenneth Fogg of Sanbornville. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service was held Monday, March 28, at Peaslee Funeral Home in Sanbornville.
Richard E. "Dick" Baldwin
Died: Tuesday, March 22, 2005
Age: 73
WOLFEBORO - Richard E. "Dick" Baldwin, 73, of Middleton, died Tuesday evening, March 22, at SunBridge Care of Wolfeboro.
Born December 29, 1931 in Petersham, Mass., he was a son of the late Charles Raymond and Flora Ellie (DeCamp) Baldwin. He grew up in Massachusetts and served three years with the United States Army from 1951-1953, before moving to Middleton, where he had lived since 1953.
He worked as a Carpenter all of his working life.
Baldwin was a member of the American Legion in Farmington, a member of the Farmington Country Club and the M&M Horseshoe Club.
He loved his beagles, gardening, golfing, snowmobiling, hunting and especially loved his children, grandchildren and his great-granddaughter.
He leaves his son, Leonard and wife Karen Baldwin of Middleton; two daughters, Sheree and husband Tom Adams of Conn.; Shelly Rollins of Rochester; a brother, Bernard Baldwin of Barre, Mass.; a sister, Marie Paris of Tewksbury, Mass.; four grandsons, Michael, Toree, Seth and Adam; three granddaughters, Amanda, Andrea and Britney; and his great-granddaughter Tamika. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Carl Baldwin of Farmington and Floyd Baldwin of Pa.; three sisters, Chic Lewis of Ill., Margaret Baldwin of Mass., and Merna Baldwin of Mass.; and a son-in-law, Mike Rollins of Rochester.
As per his request, there are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held later in the spring at the West Road Cemetery in Petersham, Mass. Arrangements are in the care of Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington.
Joyce Beryl Perkins
Died: Monday, March 21, 2005
Age: 79
DOVER - Joyce Beryl Perkins, 79, died Monday March 21, at her Florida residence, surrounded by her family. She was born in Edmonton, England Oct. 5, 1925 and lived in Hamilton-Wenham, Mass. and Stuart, Fla. for most of her life. She had moved to New Hampshire to be closer to her family, spending four years in Dover and two years in Wolfeboro.
She leaves her husband, Derrick Perkins, whom she was married to for 60 years. She also leaves three daughters, Joyce Perkins, Linda Turnage, Suzanne Winslow; one son, Derrick Perkins; their spouses, and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends Saturday, April 9, at 10 a.m., at the First Parish Congregational Church, 218 Central Ave. in Dover (742-5664).

Francis W. "Frenchy" Peltier

Age: 74
ALTON - Francis W. "Frenchy" Peltier, 74, of Main Street in Alton, died Monday evening, March 21, at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, after a long illness.
Born July 3, 1930 in Worcester, Mass., he was the son of Mary (Peltier) and William Paul. He had lived in Alton for 26 years, having come from Uxbridge, Mass.
Peltier was employed locally in Alton, with yardwork.
The widower of the late Reina (Lemoine) Peltier, who died Aug. 30, 2004, he leaves a son, Mark Hart of Texas; four daughters: Rose Worster of Hampden, Maine; Jennie Hart of Palmya, Maine; Susan Svedberg of Brookfield, Mass.; Sandra Zarazinski of Dudley, Mass.; his stepdaughter, Linda and husband Louie Perkins of Alton, and 12 grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, April 16, at 11 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish on South Main Street in Wolfeboro, with Rev. George Ham, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery in Uxbridge, Mass. Doris Anne Brooks
Died: Sunday, March 20, 2005
Age: 79
WOLFEBORO - Doris A. Brooks, 79, of Wolfeboro, died Sunday, March 20, at SunBridge Nursing Home after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born on Sept. 5, 1925, she was the daughter of John and Mary Weitzel. She grew up in Wildwood, N.J. and enjoyed going to the Philadelphia Philharmonic where her father played the violin.
She was married for 49 years to the late U.S. Navy Commander, Marvin L. Brooks and they traveled extensively during 20 years of military life. Upon retirement, the Brooks family settled in Lexington, Mass., where their children could attend high school, without further moves. They retired to Marblehead, Mass., and became avid sailors. Following many memorable years on the North Shore, the two sailed their boat to Sarasota, Fla. to spend the rest of their retirement together.
Following the death of her husband in 1996, she moved to Sugar Hill in Wolfeboro where she enjoyed bridge and tennis and attending church services at the First Congregational Church of Wolfeboro.
She leaves two sons, John Brooks of Wolfeboro, and Roy Brooks of San Francisco, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Janice Brooks and her only granddaughter, Caitlyn Brooks.

WOLFEBORO - Joan Lawrence, 91, formerly of the Ledges, passed away peacefully March 20 at the SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Wolfeboro.
Doris Brooks
Died: Sunday, March 20, 2005
WOLFEBORO - A memorial service will be held for Doris Brooks this Saturday, April 30, at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church. Refreshments and light food will be served in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Brooks passed away on May 20 from Alzheimer's disease. Memorials in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
Dana B. Huston

Age: 69
ALTON - Dana B. Huston, 69, of Powder Mill Road in Alton, died unexpectedly March 14, at the Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro after a sudden illness.
He was born Sept. 24, 1935 in Attleboro, Mass. the son of the late Harold C. and Dorothy (Kerr) Huston. Raised in Mansfield, Mass. and Malden Mass., he graduated from Malden High School and the Wentworth Institute in Boston. He was a resident of Alton for 11 years coming from Gilmanton Ironworks, Dennis, Mass. and North Reading, Mass.
A retired builder and contractor, he had operated Dana B. Huston & Son Builders, and he had also worked for the Middleton Building Supply for a couple of years.
He was a former member of the Gilmanton Fire Department, a mason with Masonic lodge #60 and attended the Alton Lodge #75. He enjoyed hunting and fly-fishing and just being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Barbara B. (Johnson) Huston of Alton; one son, Charles W. and his wife Marjorie Huston of Wilmot; one daughter, Lynn H. and her husband Terry Wiegel of Norton, Mass.; one brother, Donald L. Huston of Lynn, Mass.; seven grandchildren: Jillian K. Wiegel and Alexander D. Wiegel both of Norton, Mass, Debbie Love of Chichester, Brenda White of Hopkinton, Stephanie Carter of Greensboro, NC, James Manus of Alexandria, Va., and Bethany Leclerc of Townsend, Mass., and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, March 17, at the C.E. Peaslee and Son Alton Funeral Home, School Street, Alton. A Masonic funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. that evening. Interment will be in the spring at the New Riverside Cemetery in Alton.
