David G. West

Age: 50
WOLFEBORO - David G. West, 50, of Clark Rd., died July 24 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover.
West was born in Newton, Mass. Feb. 16, 1955, son of David A. and Dorothy (Wetherald) West. He has lived in Wolfeboro for the past four years, previously living in Port St. John, Fla. At the time of his death, he was a student at New Hampshire Technical Institute School of Nursing.
He is survived by his wife Linda (Bass) West of Port St. John, Fla.; two daughters, Lauren West and Rachel West, both of Port St. John, Fla.; his parents, David A. and Dorothy (Wetherald) West of Wolfeboro; three sisters, Dianne Treadwell of Marblehead, Mass., Sandra Jestus of Cookville, Tenn. and Margaret James of Webster Groves, Mo.
Burial will be at Waterside Cemetery in Marblehead, Mass. at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in West's memory to a charity of your choice.
The Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Wolfeboro is in charge of the arrangements.
Frances Louise Madden
Died: Tuesday, October 25, 2005
Age: 83
WOLFEBORO - Frances Louise (Murphy) Madden, 83, of Lehner St., Wolfeboro, died Oct. 25, at the Mountain View Nursing Home in Ossipee.
Mrs. Madden was born in Boston, Mass. April 6, 1922, the daughter of the late John H. and Mary C. (Smallcomb) Murphy. She had lived in Wolfeboro since 1973, and before that, she had lived in Needham, Mass. for many years.
Mrs. Madden graduated from Boston College and served in the United States Navy as a Wave from 1943 to 1946. She worked as an office manager for Congressman Bob Smith in Washington D.C. for several years retiring in 1990. She was a staunch Republican.
She loved her family greatly.
Predeceased by a daughter, Judy Madden, and a grandson, Michael Hansen, she leaves five sons: Richard Madden of Tuftonboro, Steven Madden of Wolfeboro, Mark Madden of Port Charlotte, Fla., Russell Madden of Tuftonboro, and Douglas Madden of Tuftonboro. Mrs. Madden also leaves three daughters: Marsha Hansen of Tuftonboro, Elizabeth "Peggy" Spencer of Tuftonboro, Jennifer Morrill of Ossipee, a brother, Frank Murphy of Mass., a sister, Ruthie Barrett of Mass., 16 grandchildren and a close family friend, Roy Finniss of Ossipee.
Calling Hours will be Sunday, Oct. 30, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 85 Mill St., Wolfeboro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at St Joseph's Church in Center Ossipee.
Burial will be in Townhouse Cemetery in Tuftonboro.

William Anderson Coleman
Died: Monday, October 24, 2005
Age: 80
WOLFEBORO - Dr. William Anderson Coleman, 80, died at his home in Wolfeboro Monday, Oct. 24, surrounded and comforted by his family.
He leaves his wife Janet Brown Coleman and four daughters: Johanna Hurley, Weston, Conn.; Karen Juvonen, Wolfeboro; Kristin Ruocco, Stamford, Conn.; and Kimberly Landman, Novato, Calif. He leaves eight grandchildren: Nancy Juvonen, James Juvonen, Jennifer Hurley, Karen Ragland, Brianna DeFeo, Meredith Crumley, Aaron Crumley, and William Hurley. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Natasha, Cynthia, Jake and Eliot; and his dog, Peppercorn, his devoted companion in his final days.
Dr. Coleman was born in Freemont, Ohio, and moved with his family to Nashua where he met and fell in love with Janet Brown. They were married in 1946 after Dr. Coleman, then 21, returned from two years of active service in the US Navy as a Torpedo man aboard the USS Torsk during the last two years of World War II. Dr. Coleman was especially proud of his country and his service in her defense in the South Pacific.
He attended Andover Academy and Dartmouth College and studied medicine at Dartmouth and Cornell Medical Schools. He practiced internal medicine for more than 30 years in Rochester, N.Y. He was a skilled and gentle physician and believed in the tradition of making house calls, even on Christmas Day.
In the early 1980s, he took an interest in flying and earned his private pilot's license. He was an accomplished huntsman and he loved fishing the lakes and rivers of New England and Labrador. He was an animated storyteller and a devoted reader of history. He took much pleasure in cooking, collecting recipes and exotic condiments.
Dr. Coleman was a gifted painter, and after retiring from medicine, he concentrated on watercolor paintings. His work is on display at The Art Place in Wolfeboro. He was a passionate gardener and devoted each spring through fall creating his gardens to honor the beauty of the New Hampshire woods he loved so much.
Throughout his life, Dr. and Mrs. Coleman spent summers on Lake Winnipesaukee, finally settling in Wolfeboro after retirement. He was especially fond of Wolfeboro and its residents. He often recalled with delight spending summers as a young man cutting and hauling blocks of ice to refrigerate summer cottages with Ed Moody to earn extra money.
His family is enormously grateful for and inspired by his life long devotion to his beloved wife Janet of 59 years.
In recognition of his special interest in Native American history, his family shares the following quote from the Shawnee Chief Tecumseh that illuminates his life. "Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people."
In lieu of flowers and honoring his love of children, a contribution can be made to the Wolfeboro Area Children's Center or the Nick. A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
Barry J. Tibbetts
Died: Friday, October 21, 2005
Age: 57
WOLFEBORO - Barry J. Tibbetts, 57, of Wolfeboro Falls died Oct. 21, after a long illness. He was born in Boston, Mass. October 6, 1948 the son of the late Justin and Helen (Leneten) Tibbetts.
Barry grew up in Wolfeboro Falls graduating from Kingswood Regional High School and later received his undergraduate as well as his master's degree from Plymouth State University.
He had been employed by the Governor Wentworth Regional School District as a Physical Education teacher for more than thirty years. He was a dedicated football and track coach for many years as well. Barry also owned a part-time landscaping business. His number one pastime was fishing, especially with his family.
Survivors include his brother David and his wife Kirsten and their two daughters Druscilla and Tabitha. He also leaves his three children, Christopher, Andrew, Jennifer and her husband Charles, their mother Shannon and two grandchildren, William and Ilah.
Services were held Wednesday, Oct. 26, at the First Congregational Church in Wolfeboro. Burial will be in the Wolfeboro Center Cemetery.

Norman J. Adjutant
Died: Tuesday, October 18, 2005
Age: 85
WOLFEBORO - Norman L. Adjutant, 85, of Cotton Valley Road died Oct. 18 at his home. He was a native and life-long resident of Wolfeboro. He was born Dec. 18, 1919, the son of Martin Bonn and Hattie (Hooper) Adjutant.
He worked as a mechanic at the Gulf Station at the intersection of Route 28 and North Line Road, now known as 7-Eleven. He later worked for Brewster Academy in the maintenance department. He was also a WWII US Army veteran.
He was predeceased by is wife, Edith (Champagne) Adjutant. He is survived by his children; Dennis Adjutant, Ossipee, Deborah Glidden, Jeff Adjutant and John Adjutant all of Wolfeboro and his sister-in-law, Rachel Champagne Adjutant, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Judith E. Malcolm Robinson
Died: Tuesday, October 18, 2005
Age: 54
HUDSON - Judith E. "Judi" (Malcolm) Robinson of Hudson, an organist and piano teacher, died Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 18, at her home with her loving husband and children at her bedside.
Judi was born April 8, 1951, in Haverhill, Mass.
Judi graduated from Haverhill High School in 1969 where she was an all-state singer. After high school, she attended Merrimack College. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Haverhill and an organist and teacher of piano for 35 years. Judi was a member of the American Guild of Organists and was the founding director of the Cate Park Band in Wolfeboro and former director of the "GodSpell" play at the Searles Castle in Windham.
Judi was the beloved wife of Douglas K. Robinson and the former wife of David J. LaCarubba, Sr. of Melrose, Mass., devoted mother of David J. LaCarubba, Jr. of Lowell, Mass.; and Brian K. Robinson and Kathryn N. "Katie" Robinson, both of Hudson. She was the cherished daughter of Frederick E. Malcolm of Haverhill and the late Marilyn (Woodman) Malcolm; the loving sister of Janice "Jan" Malcolm of Hampstead, Frederick E. "Freddie" Malcolm, Jr. and his wife, Mary of Bradford and Susan "Sue" Foley and her husband Peter of Amherst. She was the daughter-in-law of Tina LaCarubba of Haverhill and her late husband John LaCarubba.
A funeral service was held at the First Baptist Church in Haverhill, Mass. Saturday, Oct. 22.

John S. Steele
Died: Monday, October 17, 2005
Age: 97
WOLFEBORO - John (Jack) S. Steele, 97, of Wolfeboro died Monday, Oct. 17 at SunBridge Health Care of Wolfeboro.
Born in London, England in 1907, Jack achieved the rank of Squadron Leader in the RAF during World War II serving with distinction in various countries including India and Germany. He was a graduate of The University of London in Automotive Engineering.
He came to the United States in 1946 after having lost his first wife Ismay, mother of his two sons Robert and Andrew, to cancer. In 1948 he married Claire Kislik and moved to Colchester, Conn. The family later moved to West Islip, N.Y. where they lived until Jack retired at the age of 65. He spent his career in the automotive field, the last 20 years as a magazine editor/publisher for McGraw Hill Publishing. Jack and Claire lived for the next 25 years of retirement in Westlake Village, Calif., where Jack was active in local government and library management. He always enjoyed woodworking and gardening and was an avid motor racing participant and fan.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, he leaves his son Robert and his wife Jenine of Wolfeboro; daughter-in-law Judy Steele of Lake Worth, Fla.; four grandchildren, John Steele, Laura Steele Bednarek, Chris Steele and Susan Steele Acedo, and two great-grandchildren. Jack was predeceased by his son Andrew and his brother Tom.
A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 85 Mill St., Wolfeboro.

Richard W. Whittemore
Died: Sunday, October 16, 2005
Age: 71
TAMWORTH - Richard W. Whittemore, 71, of Route 25, South Tamworth, died Sunday, Oct. 16 at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro. He was born Sept. 16, 1934 in Fitchburg, Mass., the son of the late Ernest and Beatrice (LaBonte) Whittemore.
He graduated from St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg and later lived in Providence, R.I., where he drove a bus for Bonanza Bus Lines for 18 years and moved to Cape Cod, Mass., where he lived for four years. He retired from the Bonanza Bus Lines in 1985. He and his wife moved to South Tamworth, and he started working for the Bald Peak Colony Club in Melvin Village. Most recently he was working as their security guard at the main gate.
He served in the National Guard for several years beginning in the 1950s. Whittemore was a member of the Chocorua Lodge #83, F&AM, in Holderness. He loved nature and enjoyed bird watching and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Isabel (Winward) Whittemore, South Tamworth, his children, Robert P. Whittemore, West Greenwich, Conn.; Laura Ferrara, Warwick, R.I.; Lisa J. Colby, Hickory Flat, Miss.; Cerise Wall, Hickory Flat, Miss.; and Roberta Stevens, South Tamworth, several grandchildren and a great-grandson, a brother Ernest H. Whittemore, Fitchburg, Mass., and nieces and nephews.
There were no calling hours. Funeral services were Wednesday at the South Tamworth United Methodist Church, Route 25, South Tamworth. Burial as in the Ancient Cemetery, Yarmouth, Mass.
Lord Funeral Home of Center Ossipee were in charge of arrangements.
