Georgia Elizabeth Jordan
Past President of Farmington Woman’s Club
ALTON BAY - Georgia Elizabeth Jordan, age 69, formerly of Rand Hill Road in Alton Bay, died on Wednesday, July 21, at Belknap County Nursing Home in Laconia, after a long illness.
Born April 15, 1935 in Worcester, Mass., she was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Moran) Daniels. Raised in Worcester, she was a graduate of Worcester Classical High School, Class of 1953.
A resident of Alton Bay since 1991, she previously resided in Southboro, Mass. for 17 years, and prior to that in Holden and Sterling, both in Mass.
She had been employed as Secretary to the President at Westborough Bank in Massachusetts.
While in New Hampshire, she was a former member and Past President of the Farmington Woman’s club.
She leaves her husband Paul L. Jordan of Wolfeboro; a daughter, Elizabeth and husband Michael Meyer of New Durham; a granddaughter, Jennifer Meyer; a grandson, Jared Meyer; a sister, Judith Parker of Dalton, Ga.; two nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by her son, William A. Jordan on October 9, 1998, and a sister, Marsha Rimbey.
A graveside service was scheduled for July 27, in the New Riverside Cemetery in Alton. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 10 Ferry Street, Suite 427 B Concord, NH 03301. Arrangements are in the care of Peaslee Alton Funeral Home, School St. Alton, NH.
Edward T. O’Brien Sr.
Air Force Veteran
LONDONDERRY - Edward T. O’Brien Sr., 75 of Londonderry, died Monday, July 26, in his home. Mr. O’Brien was born in Lowell, Mass. on August 10, 1928, a son of the late John and Mary (Molloy) O’Brien. He was a resident of Londonderry since 1980, formerly living in Wolfeboro and Lowell. He was a US Air Force veteran and Reservist. He had been employed as an account executive for Hallsmith-Sysco in Norton, Mass. for many years. He was formerly employed by Associated Grocers and Monarch Foods. He was a member of the Air Force Association, the SAC Museum Organization and the Air Force Memorial. He was a communicant of St. Jude Parish in Londonderry, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, also in Londonderry.
He leaves one son, Edward T. O’Brien Jr. and his wife Bozena of Campton; two daughters, Ann Schneiderheinze and her husband Robert of Bedford, Patricia Downing and her husband James of Londonderry; four grandchildren; and his twin brother, Thomas E. O’Brien of Franconia. He was predeceased by his wife Winifred J. (Murphy) O’Brien in 1990 and his son, Kevin O’Brien in 1977.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated today, July 29, at 10 a.m. in St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. The burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Tewksbury, Mass. Calling hours were scheduled for July 28 at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, in Londonderry. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkland Medical Center Nursing Memorial Scholarship Fund, 1 Parkland Dr., Derry, NH 03038 in memory of Winifred O’Brien, or to the St. Jude Parish Building Fund, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH 03053.
Andrew Wasson Sr.
Ossipee Mountain original
PLAINS, Mont. - Andrew Wasson Sr., 88, of Plains, Mont., and formerly of Center Ossipee and Tamworth, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2004.
He was born in Center Ossipee Feb. 21, 1916, the son of Joseph and Josephine (Colby) Wasson. He was predeceased by three brothers, Perley, Clarence and Leslie, and three sisters Nora, Agnes and Annie. His surviving siblings are Evelyn Doe, of Conway, and Lillian Gilpatrick, of Belfast, Maine.
He was always proud of being from one of the original families of the “old” Ossipee Mountain settlement, known as Forrest City.
He graduated from Ossipee High School in 1936 (where he played drums in the all-girls band). His work years were spent in many diverse ways, from being a carpenter, a barber, a store clerk and meat cutter in many of the greater Ossipee area stores, one of these stores being the Effingham Falls Store, which he managed for nine years.
During World War II, he worked for Sylvania Corporation as a guard at the Military Munitions Institution in southern New Hampshire. He also worked as a caretaker on several large estates in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, extending into his retirement period. He was a member of the Ossipee Valley Masonic Lodge for 60 years.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mildred (Haley) Wasson, of Melvin Village; four children, Dannie and his wife Betty, of Chocorua, Wayne and his wife Gwen, of Topeka, Kan., Judy Kelley, of Center Ossipee, and Andy Jr. and his wife Linda, of Plains, Mont. There are 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours at this time. There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life at a later date.

Richard Chick
Photographer, restaurateur, builder
SPOKANE, Wash. - Richard H. Chick, 70, of Spokane, died Sept. 18, 2002.
He was born in Madison, the son of Marjorie and George Chick.
He attended schools in Madison and graduated from Gould Academy. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1960 as an aerial photographer in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He attended the University of Colorado in Denver and owned and operated an insulation business there. He later owned a restaurant in Spokane, and also worked in various building trades.
He was a member of the Carroll Lodge #57 F&AM in Freedom, a life member of the Elks, a member of the Hoo Hoo Club International, Spokane Chiefs Booster Club and a lifetime member of the DAV.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Carlyle and Robert Chick, and a sister Janet Sanders.
Family members include his wife Lorna; a son Brad Robison; a daughter Karla O’Campo; a sister June Loud, of Center Ossipee; six grandchildren; one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Sept. 23 at the Heritage Funeral Home in Spokane.

Hazel Drew
Longtime employee of Wolfeboro Hardware
TAMWORTH - Hazel (Shaw) Drew, 87, formerly of Remick Acres, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at Rochester Manor in Rochester.
She was born July 3, 1915, in Warner, daughter of James and Eva (Bean) Shaw.
She had lived in Wolfeboro for most of her life and was employed as a clerk at Wolfeboro Hardware for more than 51 years.
She had been a member of Wolfeboro Advent Christian Church before moving to Tamworth several years ago, where she became a member of Ossipee Valley Bible Church in West Ossipee.
She was the widow of Elwyn T. Drew of Wolfeboro.
Family members include her daughter, Micki West Merrill and her husband, John, of Somersworth; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were this morning, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. at Ossipee Valley Bible Church. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Wolfeboro.
Louise Macauley
Artist, upholsterer, baker and hairdresser
DONALDSON, Ark. - Louise Kilbourn Cunningham Macauley, 95, of Donaldson, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002.
She was the widow of George Otis Macauley, to whom she was married in January of 1927. He died in 1977.
She was born March 17, 1907, in Beverly, Mass., daughter of Roy Adrian and Effie LeFavre Cunningham. Reared and educated in Massachusetts, she had been a resident of Donaldson since 1984. Previously, she had also maintained a home in St. Cloud, Fla.
During her working life, she had been an upholsterer, a baker and a hairdresser. She was also an artist and had worked under the famous painter Wallace Nutting.
Mrs. Macauley was a member of the Water Village church in Ossipee, where she also was arts and crafts director at a local nursing home.
Family members include one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Harold Harrington of Donaldson; a sister, Elsie Corriveau of St. Cloud, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Charles Nelson Cave and Beverly Alexander.
A memorial service was held Wednesday at Donaldson Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Ronnie Hardin officiating.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Hot Spring County Hospice, 2204 E. Sullenberger, Malvern, Ark. 72104.
Arrangements were by J. A. Funk Funeral Home of Malvern.
Jay Scheck, Sr.
Retired teacher, veteran of World War II
MOUNT DORA, Fla. - Jay Tucker Scheck Sr., 81, died Sept. 22, 2002, after a brief illness.
He had resided in Mount Dora for two years, where he was close to two of his children.
Mr. Scheck was the widower of Doris Scheck, who died in February 2002. Mr. and Mrs. Scheck were long time residents of Melvin Village, N.H., where they lived for almost 20 years in a home they had built on Harvest Lane.
Mr. Scheck was born in Batavia, N.Y., son of Vernon Colvin and Olive Tucker Scheck. He spent his youth in Scotia, N.Y. and studied at Oswego State to become a high school teacher.
In 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. After training at Fort Dix, N.J. and Brooks Field, Texas, he graduated as a second lieutenant with a multi-engine rating. He went on to specialize as a B-24 bomber pilot.
In December 1943 he was deployed to Italy where, from January to August 1944, he flew 51 combat missions into southern France, northern Italy, Austria, Rumania, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Albania. During his last mission, to the Rumanian oil fields at Ploesti, his aircraft was hit and the crew forced to bail out over Bulgaria. Taken prisoner, he was released at the Turkish border in September 1944 and subsequently returned to the United States.
He was discharged in May 1945 with the rank of First Lieutenant. During his military service he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with four clusters and the Purple Heart.
From 1954 to 1962, Mr. and Mrs. Scheck and their children lived in Cali, Colombia where he was manager of the manufacturing plant for the American Chicle Company. Returning to the United States, he spent the next 20 years in the vocation for which he had trained, as a high school teacher in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. For many of these years, Mr. Scheck and his family spent summer vacations at their home in New Hampshire.
He retired from teaching in 1983 and became a full time resident of Melvin Village. During his retirement years, he spent many hours as a volunteer at Huggins Hospital and The Wright Museum. He also devoted himself to the reconstruction of a Model A Ford.
Family members include his son Jay Jr. of Mount Dora, Fla. and Camden, Maine; his daughter Carol Christine Tedesco of Mount Dora, Fla. and Melvin Village, NH; his son Jan of Garden City, N.Y.; Andrew Lane of Gahanna, OH and ten grandchildren.
The family plans a private remembrance.
