James Keyser
Retired importer/exporter
OSSIPEE - James R. Keyser, 77, died after a short illness in Port Charlotte, Fla.
Born in Maiden, Mass., and long time resident there, he was also a resident of North Reading, Mass., where he resided for 27 years, prior to moving to Ossipee and spending winters in Port Charlotte, Fla.
He retired as a self-employed importer and exporter of raw materials, owning and operating Keyser International of North Reading.
He had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a charter member of Knights of Columbus of North Reading.
Family members include his wife Lorraine M. (Spadafora) Keyser, of New Hampshire and Florida; his daughters and their husbands, Pamela and F. Winslow Elliot and Donna and Daniel McDonald, all of Andover; a brother, Charles F. Kezer, of New Hampshire; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held from the A.J. Spadafora Funeral Home 865 Main St. Maiden Feb. 11 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Mary’s Church, Melrose. Interment is at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose, Mass.

Alberic Ouellette, Jr.
Owned Sandy Point Beach Resort
ALTON BAY - Alberic H. “Bric” Ouellette, Jr., 69, owner of Sandy Point Beach Resort on Route 11, died Feb. 6, 2004, at Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center in Bayonet Point, Fla.
He was born June 14, 1934, in Portsmouth, son of Alberic H. and Rita Marie (Roux) Ouellette.
Raised in Portsmouth, he attended schools there and Tilton Prep and was a graduate of Nichols College in Worcester, Mass. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He had lived in Alton Bay for most of his life and was a communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church in Alton.
He was the owner and manager of Sandy Point Beach Resort for 40 years.
He enjoyed golfing, boating, snowmobile and spending time with his family.
Family members include his wife, Annelle (Fox) Ouellette of Alton Bay; three children and their spouses, Alberic “Ric” and Suzanne Ouellette of Alton Bay, Robert “Bob” and Lori Ouellette of Rochester and Jill Ann and Leonard Galvin of Concord; eight grandchildren; a sister, Suzanne Dehazen of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was brother of the late Rita Hassan of Alton Bay.
Calling hours were Monday at Peaslee’s Alton Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Wolfeboro, with the Rev. Richard Wegman as celebrant. Burial will be in the spring at New Riverside Cemetery, Alton.

Norval ‘Bud’ Smith
Former owner of Allen A Resort
ROCHESTER - Norval “Bud” Smith of Rochester died Feb. 3, 2004.
Born in Washington, D.C., he was a graduate of St. Petersburg (Florida) High School. He attended the University of Florida before graduating from the Lewis Hotel School, a division of George Washington University.
He served his country with honor and distinction as a paratrooper during World War II.
He spent more than 30 years in the resort hotel business. He first served as general manager of the Soreno Hotel in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was vice-president of the Balsams Hotel in Dixville Notch. He was also owner and operator of the Allen A. Resort in Wolfeboro.
Since 1988, he and his wife had established and operated Executive Properties, a real estate management company in Rochester.
Family members include his wife, Bette Lu Smith; his son and daughter, Mathew Smith of Wakefield, Mass., and Mary Smith-Wasserman of Breckenridge, Colo.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Feb. 7 at H.J. Grondin & Sons Funeral Home in Rochester.

Kenneth Weeks
Retired mechanic, firefighter
WOLFEBORO - Kenneth W. Weeks, 80, of Pine Hill Road, died Feb. 6, 2004, at Huggins Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born March 24, 1923 in Milton Mills and had lived in Wolfeboro for 55 years.
He was employed as a mechanic at Horne’s Garage in Wolfeboro for many years. He was also a 17-year veteran of the Wolfeboro Fire Department.
He loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member and instructor for the National Rifle Association.
He was an Army/Air Force veteran of World War II.
Family members include his wife of 56 years, Ruby (Eldridge) Weeks of Wolfeboro; two daughters and their husbands, Betty Jean and Bert Austin of Wolfeboro and Terry and Fred Gray of Union; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; his extended family, Kelly and Lori Lessard of Wolfeboro and William Lessard of Ossipee; six great-grandchildren; and a stepbrother, Earle Taylor of Effingham.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Feb. 13, at 2 p.m. at Lord Funeral Home, Route 28, Wolfeboro.

Mildred Wilkinson
Retired telephone operator
TAMWORTH - Mildred Wilkinson, 90, of Tamworth, died Tuesday, Feb. 3 in a hospital in Santa Maria, Calif.
She was born Feb. 12, 1913, in Center Ossipee.
Her family settled in Tamworth in 1938. She worked for many years as a telephone operator for New England Tel and Tel in Tamworth and Meredith.
Her husband, Ralph Wilkinson, died in 1998.
Family members include her daughter and son-in-law June and Paul Drouin, of Santa Maria, Calif.; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Cremation was requested with inurnment and burial in the Effingham Cemetery in the spring.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary and Crematory in Santa Maria, Calif.
Fred H. Fiske
Mason, World War II veteran
DELEON SPRINGS, Fla. - Fred H. Fiske, 85, of DeLeon Springs, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at Woodland Terrace Nursing Center in DeLand, Fla.
Mr. Fiske was born in Franklin, Mass., and moved to DeLeon Springs in 1999 from Wolfeboro, N.H.
He was a retired engineer for the New England Telephone Company and World War II Army Staff Sgt. veteran. He was a member of the Pioneers of America, the Masons and the NRA.
Mr. Fiske believed that old soldiers never die. They just fade away.
Family members include his wife of 65 years, Shirley E. Fiske; one daughter, Nancy Fairley of Northboro, Mass.; one son, Richard H. Fiske of DeLeon Springs, Fla.; one brother, Lincoln Fiske of Bethel, Maine; and four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren

Marion Roberts
Registered nurse, adventurous spirit
OSSIPEE - Marion J. Roberts, 79, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, peacefully at Mountain View Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since 1977.
Marion Louise Jensen was born March 2, 1925 in Boston, Mass. Her father, Carl Ejnar Jensen, was a Danish immigrant and machinist. Her mother, Jane Rochfort Jensen, was a homemaker, but worked various jobs to help support the family during the Depression. Because of their modest circumstances, the family moved frequently around the Boston area during her youth,
She was athletic, enjoying softball in high school. She played shortstop and first base. She was known as “Sis” to her family and friends. She had a yen for writing, and was the Exchange Editor for her high school yearbook “The Shuttle.” In her senior yearbook, it was said, “Her ambition is to travel and see the world when it becomes peaceful.” She attended the High School of Practical Arts in Dorchester, Mass., graduating in 1942.
Following high school, she attended Boston University for one year before entering New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. She graduated in 1946, and soon after became licensed as a registered nurse,
She had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed the opportunities life offered her. In 1949, she accompanied her parents for an extended stay in Denmark where she met many of her father’s relatives. She was also known to have a great sense of humor. Her brother Bill nicknamed her “Buckshot” because “you never knew what was coming next.”
While working at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, she met her husband Milburn. After a long-distance courtship, they married April 11, 1953 in Randolph, Mass.
Moving to North Conway shortly thereafter, she began work at the Memorial Hospital where she worked for several years.
She struggled with the challenges that accompany Multiple Sclerosis for many years. Despite those challenges, she continued to be as independent as possible. She made many friends at Mountain View Nursing Home.
The staff made her life comfortable and enjoyable. She loved them all, and is grateful for their love and compassion.
She leaves her three children, Janice Roberts, of Fryeburg, Maine, Sandy Whitehead, of Sioux City, Iowa, and Dan Roberts, of Burkburnett, Texas, and their spouses; three grandchildren; one brother Carl Jensen of Arkadelphia, Ark., and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband Milburn F. Roberts, died in 19S9 and a brother, William Jensen, died in 1978,
Funeral services are today, Thursday, at 2 p.m. at the Furber and White. Funeral Home in North Conway with the Rev. Susan J, Buchanan, officiating. Burial will be in the North Conway Cemetery later in the spring. There are no visiting hours.
