Grace Boles
Former bookkeeper at Alton Fuel Co.
ALTON - Grace A. Boles of School Street died suddenly July 29, 2002, at home.
She was born and raised in Jefferson, daughter of Harry E. and Mary (Brady) Paschal. She had lived in Alton for 50 years.
She had worked as a bookkeeper for her late husband’s business, Alton Fuel Co., for 20 years.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Alton and had attended the Community Church of Alton. Her hobbies included crocheting, reading and crafts.
She was the widow of Joseph A. Boles, who died in 1991.
Family members include a son, Bruce Boles of Alton; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Fred Lamper of Alton; four grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; a brother, Jack Paschal of Jefferson; three sisters, Marjorie Biron of Gorham, Wilma Corrigan of Jefferson and Hazel of Connecticut; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service was held this morning, Aug. 1, at 10 a.m. at the Community Church of Alton. Burial will be at Forest Vale Cemetery in Jefferson.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Nancy Brigham
Had a strong Christian faith
ALTON - Nancy W. Brigham, 45, of Chestnut Cove Road, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, due to a motor vehicle accident on Route 11 in Farmington.
She was born Aug. 9, 1956, in Englewood, N.J., daughter of Paul and Concetta (Diodati) Wellington. She had lived in Alton for two-and-a-half years, having come from Effingham, where she resided for 10 years, having previously resided in New Jersey for many years.
She was employed with Camp Brookwoods in Alton.
Mrs. Brigham had a strong Christian faith and a desire to serve the Lord. A member of the Wolfeboro Bible Fellowship, she was a Sunday school teacher, was active with the children’s church, teen youth group, the nursery and vacation Bible school.
She also enjoyed walking and cross country skiing.
Family members include her husband, Michael J. Brigham of Alton; her parents, Paul and Concetta Wellington of Wolfeboro; two daughters, Tracy Amanda Brigham and Lindsay Rose Brigham, both of Alton; and her brother and sister-in-law, First Lt. Stephen and Carrie Wellington of Ft. Stewart, Ga., and their children, Sara and Amanda.
A memorial service was held July 27 at First Christian Church in Wolfeboro with the Rev. Scott Button, pastor of Wolfeboro Bible Fellowship, officiating.

James J. Feeney, Jr.
Retired from Price Waterhouse
WOLFEBORO - James Joseph Feeney, Jr., 68, of Wolfeboro and Treasure Cay, Abaco, Bahamas, died at his Wolfeboro home Monday, July 29, 2002, after a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 11, 1934, in Boston, Mass., son of Anna Elizabeth Dunn and James J. Feeney, Sr.
He was a graduate of Cathedral Latin High School and John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mr. Feeney was a longtime audit partner with Price Waterhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1984, the family moved to Anchorage, Alaska. When Mr. Feeney retired from Price Waterhouse in 1991, they moved to Wolfeboro.
In Cleveland, he was chairman of the Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Health and Retardation and a former member of Shaker Heights Country Club and Canterbury Golf Club.
In Anchorage, he was a founder and resident of the Alaska Light Opera Theatre and president of the Alaska World Affairs Council.
In Wolfeboro, Mr. Feeney founded the Men’s Breakfast Club, volunteered on the Pathways and Ducks Unlimited committees, and was president of the Lakes Region Newcomers Club and a board member of the Wolfeboro Friends of Music. He was a member of Bald Peak Colony Club.
He was treasurer of the Beach Villa Owners Association of Treasure Cay for the past 20 years, serving as president until his death.
Family members include his wife of 25 years, Ernestine (Greenberger Dworkin) Feeney; brothers William of Los Angeles, Calif., and David of Fairfield, Conn.; sons James, Thomas, Don, Ronald, Robert and William of Clevelend, Ohio, Michael and David of Gloucester, Mass., and James Dworkin of Dallas, Texas; daughters Kathleen of Cleveland, Ohio, Jennifer Dworkin Vigran of Indianapolis, Ind., and Deborah Dworkin of Phoenix, Ariz; 15 grandchildren; three nieces; and many cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Ann.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m. at St. Cecilia Church, Wolfeboro.

Evelyn Harvey
Trained nurse, avid gardener, Red Sox fan
BROCKTON, Mass. - Evelyn M. (MacLeod) Harvey, 96, a resident of West Campton, Mass., for a number of years, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, in Brockton.
Born in Megantic, P.Q., Canada, daughter of Colin and Amy (MacDonald) MacLeod, she came to Maine with her family early in her life. She later graduated from Higgins Classical Institute in Charleston, Maine, and trained to be a nurse at Dr. Richardson’s hospital in Brunswick, Maine.
She was a trained nurse, although she didn’t practice her profession after marriage except during World War II, when she worked evenings at the South Shore Hospital in the maternity unit.
The widow of Preston Harvey, to whom she was married for 51 years, Mrs. Harvey was a member of the Winthrop Congregational Church in Holbrook, Mass. She was an avid flower gardener and the keeper of a productive raspberry patch. She also enjoyed reading.
Her most enduring interest was a longtime commitment to the Boston Red Sox, which began with her “discovery” of Ted Williams in 1940 and continued to the week of her death.
Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and William Miles of Holbrook, Mass., with whom she made her home for many years; a son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. George and Margaret Harvey of Wakefield, N.H.; a daughter, Alison Harvey of Waterville, Maine; a sister, Colena Clark of Eagle Bridge, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A private service was held July 26. Burial was at Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree, Mass.
Louise Cassano
Former resident of The Ledges
WOLFEBORO - Louise C. Cassano, 86, died Aug. 3, 2002, unexpectedly, at SunBridge Nursing Home.
She was the widow of Michael A. Cassano and was a former resident of The Ledges on Center Street.
Family members include two daughters, Frances Diskin and her husband, William, of Chelmsford, Mass., and Michelle Cassano of Anchorage, Alaska; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
There were no calling hours. Burial was at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Lowell, Mass. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Virginia Dickson
Volunteer for many years at Huggins Hospital
WOLFEBORO - Virginia May Dickson, 73, of Lakeview Drive, died Aug. 6, 2002, at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro.
She was born Oct. 29, 1929, in Lynn, Mass., daughter of James and Frances Boyle. She had lived in Nahant, Mass., for many years, and was employed as a secretary for the Nahant Public Schools for several years.
For the past 15 years, she lived in Sanbornville and Wolfeboro. She was known for her many years of service to Huggins Hospital as a volunteer.
There were no calling hours or funeral services. Burial is at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody, Mass.

Dorris Gedney
Active in Advent Christian Church
ALTON BAY - Dorris Mae (Clough) Gedney died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, after a period of declining health.
She was born March 19, 1907, in Hanover, daughter of Ida Mae Chase Clough and Albert Burns Clough. She was raised by her maternal grandmother, Cynthia Clough, and her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. H. Foster Ryder.
She spent her early years in Norwich, Vt., and Auburn, Maine. She moved to Somerville, Mass., and graduated from Somerville High School. She attended business school and was a member of the Somerville Advent Christian Church, where she was baptized.
She was the widow of Dr. Edwin K. Gedney, her husband of 50 years, whom she married in Somerville June 10, 1930. Dr. Gedney was a professor at Gordon College in Wenham, Mass., for 45 years and was pastor of Faith Evangelical of Melrose, Mass., for 26 years while the couple resided in Stoneham, Mass.
She was an ardent Christian and was active in the Advent Christian Church all her adult life. She was a leader in children’s work and was active in national and local Woman’s Home and Foreign Missions Society work. She accompanied her husband on extended trips to Japan in 1971 and 1977, where they ministered extensively among Japanese Advent Christians. She is listed in Women of the World.
Of all her accomplishments, none were more important to her than her family.
Upon retirement, she and her husband moved to Alton Bay, where they lived until his death in 1980. She later lived with family in Arlington, Mass., and Easthampton, Mass. For the past five years, she had been a resident at a healthcare facility in Northampton, Mass.
Those who knew her say she has left a lasting legacy of faith, prayer and dedication to her family and friends.
Family members include her son, Robert Gedney of Alton Bay, daughters Barbara Schaeffner of Alton, Priscilla Taber of Rochester and Cynthia Bostock of Cavendish, Vt., and their spouses; and 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her oldest son, Donald, died in 1997.
Services were held Aug. 6 at Moore Chapel, Alton Bay Christian Conference Center.
